Me: Yay I got another one done.

Naru: A day within updating, good job.

Gene: Leave Silver alone.

Mai: Yeah, it's not like she didn't update for a couple of months or….. wait….. oops….

Me: -_-' I don't on Ghost Hunt. Please R&R everyone.

Naru's POV:

A deathly silence was all that could be heard in the base. There wasn't any of the usual chatter of Monk or Ayako. Not even the sound of Lin's constant typing was heard. Nothing, there was nothing but pure silence. It had gone on for the entire time since we had entered the base. Silence along with a staring contest with my presumed to be dead brother that just waltzed in here as if he owned the place. Taking in a breath I sighed and closed my eyes to gather my thoughts.

"Now then, Gene, why don't you tell us why you've disappeared for the past couple years." I asked, finally breaking the tension that was swimming in the air.

"Well, I followed my instinct like I always do." Gene answered simply, as if it were him taking a short cut home and being a few hours late instead of disappearing and leaving his family to think that he was dead for a couple of years.

"And what did it tell you?" I asked, deciding to humor him and see what stupid answer he could come up with to justify his idiotic decision.

"To stay here." He said with an innocent look that just made me want to hit my head against a wall.

The only thing that actually kept me from doing so was the fact that I would lose some of my precious brain cells, and even though I could bear to part with some of them it would only bring me closer to my brother's level of stupidity, and I just couldn't have that. If the world couldn't take two Nolls then there would be no way that it could even phantom the possibility of two Genes. Before I could ask another question, the girl he came here with, Ms. Shen's niece I believe, crossed her arms and sent a glare to my brother.

"It also told you to lie to me and my Aunt." She said, her voice having a playful tone to it.

"Sorry." Gene said, smiling sheepishly back at her which only elected an eye roll from her before a smile formed on her own lips.

"It's alright, I love you anyways."

"Why exactly did it tell you that?" I asked, frustrated that the conversation had moved off its original topic as it usually did when it came to my brother.

"Not a clue."

"Gene-"

"Who's hungry, cause I'm gonna go work on dinner if this is what's gonna be happening." Kaguya

"Thanks Angel, I feel so loved."

"You're welcome."

"I think I'll go with Kaguya." Mai

"Thanks. It'll be nice to have another set of hands."

"Now then, time to get serious brother." I said once both girls had left.

"Alright Noll, what do you want me to tell you."

"How about we start with how you're even alive."

"Well, that's actually all thanks to Kaguya."

"Explain." I said, wondering why that troublesome looking girl was the reason for my brother's survival. If anything could be told by her appearance it would seem that she was more trouble than she was help. I mean really, who could see a girl who wears a bloody collar with a pentagram charm on it to be a good citizen instead of some dark devil worshiper. Then again she always could be that too and have just had an out of character moment to go and help someone for once.

"She jumped in after I was thrown in and did some first aid to control the bleeding. The doctor even said that if it wasn't for her doing so I would have died before even getting to the hospital." He explained, having a far off look before shivering and coming back down to the present time.

"Is that why you are with her now?" I asked, knowing that my brother had a thing of repaying debts. Being a girl's boyfriend though is a bit much if I do say so, even if she did save his life.

"Yes. I kept my cover on who I was and they refused to leave me be. Her Aunt insisted that I stay until I was fully functional again. As you can see things progressed which is why I am indeed with Kaguya now."

"Keeping your cover I can understand, but why didn't you try to contact Mother, Father, or I. Do you know how much heartache you put them through?" I said, remembering all the nights that Mother had cried herself to sleep at the supposed death of her eldest son, and how father would try and console her only to break down as well. All the time I had spent planning my revenge to get the killer locked away in jail. The nightmares that still follow me to this day of the accident and how I could do nothing to prevent it from happening.

"I can only imagine. I did check up on you a few times through our link, and you seemed to be alright though, so I just figured that you didn't know anything about what happened." He confessed, having a look of guilt for his mess-up which only made my blood boil even more.

"If you thought that then you're even stupider then I thought." I snapped, causing him to look up at me with harsher eyes that I usually didn't see unless I really messed something up. Which was, might I add, just about never.

"It runs in the blood idiot scientist." He snapped back, causing me to glare at the god-awful nickname he had come up for me when we were in our younger days.

"No, unlike you I have made wise decisions and have made something of myself." I said, knowing that before he had left I had become a professor at a high esteemed college and published four books while working on my fifth. Gene may have been the more social out of us two, but I was always the harder worker as well as obviously the smarter one.

"And who says that I haven't done the same?" he asked, raising a brow at me. A smirk formed on my lips knowing that there was no way for him to have been able to

"Oh, and what have you done?"

"I've saved more souls, dead and alive, then you've ever even dreamed of."

"How so?" I asked, truly wondering how someone who couldn't even get himself to study instead of flirting with girls could save so many people while he was under the radar from all of the psychic experts that are here within Japan. The smirk that was once on my face could now be found on my duplicate's face as he saw me struggling to figure out how it was that he managed such a task.

"Because I work in the forensics as a detective. Meaning I help hurt souls find peace and I keep the living from death at the same time." He boasted, taking me completely by surprise.

I knew that he loved t.v. shows like CSI, BONES, NCIS, and others of that type, but I never would have pegged him for one that would actually get involved with such a business. After all, he was a medium, and a medium plus multiple dead murder victims' ghosts would only equal pain, suffering, and madness. However, it did fit the bill for him since he had a supernatural advantage against the average Joe with those very same abilities. Just as I was about to pull out more information that could tear him off his high horse, the sound of a throat being cleared startled the both of us as we turned to the source of said noise.

A.K.A., Lin.

"Enough, we're getting off topic, Noll, Gene." he said, surprising us both. Normally when we had spats Lin never got involved and only intervened before it turned into a fist fight. However, given the circumstances I suppose I could understand why he did it.

"Sorry Lin." Gene said, followed by a nod from me to show my mentor the respect he deserved even if I never would vocalize it out loud.

"Back to the topic, why are you with Ms. Shen?" he asked, electing a raised brow from Gene before he sighed and shook his head at us.

"One, that's not her last name, two, just call her Kaguya, and three, I fell for her and told her the truth about who I was." He said, making me feel a little bit better about why he was with the girl, but at the same time I had to question his taste in girls.

The two seemed to be day and night. Truth be told, it seemed that Gene and Mai would have been a better match since they seemed to be extremely similar right on down to their abilities, however, with what I saw of the girl she seemed to have a very strong and possibly overbearing personality. Her clothing told that she was of a darker nature, but then again when she first got here she seemed to have a wavelength similar to Mai's in a sense. None the less it just meant that I would have to analyze her and see if she is deemed fit for my brother. As of now though I will leave things be since she did save him, but if I find out that she is indeed as dark or wild as her appearance says she is they will break up, and I will make sure of it.

"So you're still staying with her?" I asked to at least make sure that he had less temptation to do anything stupid. There had been a few times where I had found him and one of his girlfriends in his room asleep under the covers. What they did or didn't do I don't know, but I do know that the less physically involved they are then the easier it would be to break them up if the need came around.

"No, I have my own apartment, but she asked me to come with her because she didn't know who was going to be here and wanted to have me around in case something happened." Gene explained.

"Looks like she has more sense than her Aunt." Ayako chipped in, electing nods from Monk, John, and, mentally, myself.

"Don't be fooled by Ms. Kiwa. She is a lot more then what she seems. Anything else?"

"Yes, if you're alive, then why are you Mai's spirit guide?" I asked, remembering that little tid-bit. Usually spirit guides were spirits, so how could a living being be a guide in the astral realm? The look I received from my brother showed that he clearly didn't follow where I was going and I had to restrain myself from rolling my eyes at his response.

"Huh?"

"What do you mean, huh? She's like you and has dreams and you've helped guide her to what she needs to see."

"I have?" he asked, completely taken aback. Eyeing him to see if he was playing around I came to the conclusion that he truly had no idea as to what I was saying. This only brought up more confusion for me as I was positive that Gene had been the one to guide her in her dreams since the 'Naru' she saw smiled at her all the time.

"Are you saying you don't remember?"

"I honestly have no clue. I don't think I've ever seen her before today." He said, looking at the door that the girls just went through. A soft look came over his face as he stared before turning his attention back onto me. "Though, she does seem familiar. She's easy to relax around, kinda like how it was when I first meet Kaguya."

"Do you think it's possible?" I asked, knowing that he would know more about the astral plane then I could even hope to since he visits it all the bloody time while for me that is a task that I cannot complete.

"Maybe. The astral plane is definably a mystery to the living as well as the dead. I know I still had my dreams that helped me with my own cases, but whether or not I had help with yours through Mai or not is not my call. If she says it was me, then it probably was. My conscious just doesn't have any recollection of it is all." He speculated, taking on a similar thinking pose that I had when deducing what the main cause of the haunting truly was. After taking a moment to piece it all together it was the only thing that could make sense and left it at that.

"That would connect the dots then." I said, nodding my head to confirm the conclusion of this dream and spirit guide fiasco. Gene agreed with a nod and once again we lapsed into silence except this time it was a nice comfortable silence.

"Does anyone else feel like we have two Narus now?" Monk asked interrupting our conversation and reminding us that there are indeed other people here besides my brother, out guardian, and myself. However, once his comment processed through my mind I couldn't help but narrow my eyes at him in distaste.

"I know, that's what I thought too." The priestess added, making my narrowed eyes into a glare.

"It is a bit strange if I do say myself." John said, agreeing with the two blundering idiots I call co-workers.

I looked over at Gene and saw that he too was upset at being compared to each other once again. Luckily for him he didn't have anyone to be compared to since the people he knew didn't even know I existed, or even his real name except for Ms. Shen and her niece. I however had gone through it even more than normal once he 'died'. People always saying that I would never be like Gene; that the only twin was too cold to approach. That it should have been me that died instead of the smiling twin. This did me a little justice; however it none the less made me upset to be born with the same face as my brother. Expecting him to just suffer through and stew in silence it came as a surprise when I saw to look in his eyes snap.

"Please, I am nothing like him!" Gene defended, jumping off the couch and pointed to me with a look of horror and anger etched into his features. Gathering my bearings once more from his outburst I nodded in agreement.

"I concur."

"I wonder about that some days." Lin said, eye the both of us with a smirk clear on his lips.

"Well, at least we don't look alike now." Gene said, tucking back some of his bangs behind his ear showing off the different piercings he had gotten.

"What made you go and get those bloody piercings anyway?" I asked, still disgusted by that fact. After all, all they were was puncture holes and wounds. What sane person actually wants a hole in their body? Obviously my brother, but I can't exactly say that as of yet since I am still debating whether or not he actually is sane and not just insane. He seemed to be on the boarder of things just like the monk who also had a few piercings himself. Actually looking at them now they both seemed to have a similar look although my brother's style was a bit more punk and I wasn't sure if it was better than Monk's rocker look or not. Gene looked at me for a moment before shrugging and sitting back down in his seat.

"I thought they were cool. Also, it's my freedom." He said, smiling as he gently touched the jewelry that was imbedded in his body. Where he got the idea of piercings meant freedom from I have no idea, but the idea that his girlfriend had a hand in it didn't quite sound all that off.

"Freedom?"

He nodded at his and for a moment he looked a lot older and mature then he should have been. I was always the wiser brother, but for a moment I could have said that it actually was him instead.

"Yeah, I didn't have to be sweet and perfect. I could be the rebel that I wanted to be."

And just like that the moment was over.

"That doesn't make any sense." I said, mentally throwing my hands up in defeat, not knowing what to think or do about my older twin. He looked down at the floor with a small smile as a calm and tiered air surrounded him.

"Figured as much." He whispered, before I could ask him what he meant, his head snapped up as if he were listening for something. His eyes suddenly went wide, and just as I was about to ask him what was wrong he shot for the door just as banging started to be heard from the kitchen. Without another moment we all followed my brother's lead with the decision to leave the interrogation for another time. As of right now I had to save my stupid assistant and my brother's girlfriend.

Me: So how was it?

Gene: Why did you make Noll hate my GF?

Naru: Because she's a bad influence.

Me: No, I just thought it would make it a bit more interesting.

Mai: Well Naru will have to deal with her since she's my friend.

Me: Yep!

Naru: I hate you all.

Gene: No you don't! *glops him*

Mai: Hey don't forget me! *glops both brothers as well*

Me: Please Review!
