Me: Yay last chapter!

Naru: Thank God.

Gene: It wasn't that bad.

Mai: Now she can start on the sequel which will have all the good stuff in it.

Me: Yep!

Naru: Silver doesn't own Ghost Hunt.

Gene: Please R&R! XD

Mai's POV:

Everyone was now gathered at base and Naru had already filled everyone in on the dream that I had. Gene had also made some progress in the astral plane and managed to get Kana's last name which would make getting more info about her easy. At least according to what Yasu said that is.

"Yasu, try and look into what you can find about this Kana Munto." Naru said, glancing over at said man from his spot on the armchair.

"Aye, aye captain!" the spectacled young man said, saluting his boss before diving into the computer to get the results that we all knew he would achieve. Everyone then broke off and preoccupied themselves in their own way.

Monk and Ayako were arguing, John and Masako were making small talk, and then the twins and Lin were crowded around the monitors discussing the different types of tactics we could use on Kana to make her move on. Suddenly a dark aura was emitted from the person sitting next to me and when I looked over I saw Kaguya fuming with her eyes narrowed and scowling. I felt myself break out in a cold sweat at the intensity of her unknown rage and just when I was about to ask her if she was alright she snapped her head over towards me and I got the full force of her energy.

"So let me get this straight, she's been killing people over a guy?" Kagy asked, looking as if she was just witnessing the stupidest thing in the world. I took a moment to process what she said, and realized that that was kinda what this was all about at the bottom line of it all.

"I guess you can put it that way." I said shrugging. Her look of raged-confusion turned to one of pure disgust and in a swift motion she was out of her chair and heading out of the room. "Where are you going?"

"To give this chick a piece of my mind!" she replied, looking back at me with that soul crushing determination of hers.

"Kagy wait for me!" I cried, racing after her as we left the rest of SPR in the dust. "Are you crazy? She almost killed us last time."I reminded, finally catching up to her and grabbing onto her arm to try and slow her down. Unfortunately it seemed to be indifferent and she just pulled me along with her.

"Yeah, but something protected us. If it did it once then it's sure to do it again." she said, not really caring about the threats that were or the bets placed against us.

Suddenly I got a flash of the time that I was as rash to act as her and tried to exorcize the hostile spirits in Yasu's school and how horribly that ended. Already I knew that it was a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe Kagy wasn't as mature and grown-up as I originally thought.

"But we don't know that for sure!" I exclaimed, wondering just how insane this chick really was and if I should just go with her or get Gene and Naru, and quite possibly Lin, to stop her and drag her back to base. With that she stopped and I bumped into her back. Looking up I was met with a Naru worthy glare.

"Then go back, cause I need to let this bitch understand just how pathetic she's being."

"Not gonna happen. I won't turn a blind eye as the only connection to my family and friend gets hurt." I said, huffing at our stubbornness. Her glare melted into a smirk and she once agin began her walk to the cave.

"Now where have I heard that?"

"Hmm, I wonder."

"Now that's my line." she said, trying to sound upset even though the smile on her face clearly said otherwise.

"Whatever you say." I said with a shrug. We continued forward into the mouth of the cave and almost instantly I felt the temperature drop.

Glancing over at Kaguya, I saw that she too felt the shift and was on high alert. We moved further in and once we got to the place where we had our last experience with the spirit I could suddenly see my own breath. As if that wasn't enough of an indication to her presence, her shrill laughter filled the cave and bounced off the walls making it sound as if it was coming from all directions.

"Fools, did you think you could come back and then leave alive?" she asked, materializing a few yards in front of us, blocking off the entrance to the cave with her ghostly form. I paled from the last experience we had with her and took a step back, feeling my instincts go on over drive to get away, but Kaguya must not have felt the same fear that I did for she only smirked and took a step forward without an ounce of fear showing.

"About time she showed up." she muttered, cracking her knuckles and making me wonder where the hell she got the nerve and courage to go against a hostile spirit like Kana. I mean I've been in the spirit business longer then her, and although I don't get as shaken as I used to, I still don't have the nerves of steel to go toe to toe with a spirit like that.

"Time to pay little one." Kana said, eyeing me as she prepped herself to deliver a wind-sickle just for me. Kaguya though just like before stepped in front of me with her arms crossed and foot tapping impatiently.

"Enough." That one word that fell from Kaguya's lips was strong and resonated within the cave. Kana glared at her and sent a small wind-sickle her way as a warning to move, cutting her left cheek in the however didn't even flinch and instead just narrowed her eyes at the spirit that afflicted the wound. Kana didn't like the reaction, or lack there of in this case, and snarled at the stubborn insane friend of mine.

"You little wench!"

"No, I'm not a wench; I'm a witch and your rude awakening." Kaguya said, paying no mind to the new wound on her body nor the fresh blood that was slowly trailing down her face.

"Insolence!" Kana cried, getting ready to shoot another sickle at us only for kaguya to huff at her.

"No, reality. You do know it's been about two hundred and fifty years since you were alive right?" she asked, shifting her weight and taking me aback by her tactics for getting Kana to move on.

"What nonsense do you speak?! I died only five years ago!"

"I know this must be hard to hear, but it's 2014 and you died in 1876." I said, looking at the ghost woman in pity for not even realizing just how long she had been dead. Kana's eyes widened at this and she faltered back as the information of her death processed in her mind.

"No, impossible." she whispered, falling to her knees as she tried to make sense of all of this.

"Actually, very possible. A monk sealed you up and for some weird reason you've now woken up again. Now then, will you please tell me why you're causing so much drama over a stupid guy?" Kaguya asked, making her way towards the confused woman.

"He wasn't just any guy, he was the love of my life!" Kana snapped, glaring at Kaguya with hell's fire in her eyes. Kaguya though rolled her eyes at it and her annoyed expression was once again back on her face.

"Uh-huh, how long did you know him?"

"A year." she said proudly, holding her head high and making me hang mine with a sweat-drop.

"Yeah, so if he was the love of your life why did he go for your friend instead of you?" Kaguya asked, raising a brow and stringing together a very real and non-sympathetic, or gentle for that matter of fact, wake-up call for our spirit.

"Because I couldn't bear him an heir."

"B.S." she scoffed, looking at her nails as if bored by the subject.

"It's true, a woman who cannot bare children have no right to be called women!"

"If he really loved you then he wouldn't have cared about that. He would have still married you and looked away from other women!" I cried, feeling her pain and the wishful thinking that comes with falling to the words and lies of someone you love. Granted ours were on different spectrums. One saying you were in love with their dead twin and the other being told the was loved, but still, I could understand to some extent what she was going through. She shook her head back in forth, not wanting to accept the truth as her hands went up and covered her face.

"But-but he told me-"

"Let me tell you sister, people lie, and some dudes are just assholes. You deserved better then him anyway, so I guess it's a good thing he didn't marry you and instead went with that whore instead." Kagy said, huffing at the other woman and making me smile at how her mind worked. Kana looked up at her with wide eyes as silent tears continued to run down her face.

"How can you say that after the lives I've take?"

"Because I'm a woman too thank you very much for noticing, and I know that when we get hurt we hurt bad. Sometimes we become bitches, or eat a bunch of junk food, or in extreme measures throw away our lives and make others suffer who share characteristics to the one who hurt us. Bottom line is, shit happens, and now it's time to move on."

"But I'm dead." Kana said, looking like a lost puppy that didn't know which was was home.

"I know, so move on. I'm sure the true one to love you is waiting for you to be born as we speak." I said, no longer feeling any fear from looking at Kana. All that I saw now was just a lost woman. With the fear of her hurting me no longer pulling me back, I too joined Kaguya and stood by her side to smile down at Kana. She looked so unsure of herself and of us. Not sure who or what to trust anymore, but there was now something in her that wasn't there before. The sparkle of hope.

"Are you sure?"

"Trust me, we know." Kaguya added, sending me a smile to which I relied with grabbing her hand. Almost immediately the same glow from before popped up and encircled us with Kagy's hair yet again turning white.

"I see, I'm sorry for what I did to you, I hope you can forgive me." she said, bowing down to me to which I just offered her a hand up instead.

"Don't worry, as Kagy said, shit happens. Besides, I'm used to it." I added, sweat-dropping at how true that statement was. We all laughed at this and once the laughter died down it was left with just a calm silence. Kana looked up at us both again and smiled before reaching out and taking my hand in hers.

"Thank you, both of you."

And with that she was gone. Disappeared into a flash of light that illuminated the cave for a brief second before the darkness once again set in. Even the glow that was around Kaguya and myself was gone. Making all the evidence that there was a ghost or anything that happened here at all vanish into this air as if the entire area was getting a fresh slate to begin again.

"Well that was anticlimactic." Kaguya said, breaking the stunned silence that seemed to hang over us. I laughed at her bluntness and removed my hand from hers as I turned around to begin our trek back to the cottage.

"Yeah, but at least she moved on." I countered, no longer feeling her pretense there in the cave like I had the last couple of times. Kagy sighed and nodded before joining me on our way out.

"Now all that's let is to figure out what to do about this." she said, pointing to her hair which was still to my surprise white from the glow power she used. I felt my eyes widen at it, but no answers came to me as to how to take care of her little dilemma.

"Dunno, but at least we know it's you who created those barrier-things."

"True, mind keeping this a secret till I figure it out?" she asked, giving me a sheepish smile to which I returned with my own.

"Nope, besides I already saw it coming."

"Which is why you're awesome." she cheered, slugging an arm around my shoulders as we continued onwards. As we approached the mouth of the cave the figures of the SPR team could be seen advancing fast and Kagy and I groaned already knowing that there was going to be a long, boring lecture about this later. "Uh, here comes the rule brigade."

"What did we tell you girls about this cave?!" Naru scolded, making his was to our side. I could see that his eyes were engulfed with rage and I shrunk immediately when I saw them, know that he did have every right to be mad this time around.

"Wasn't it just yesterday that you two got attacked!" Gene added, directing this over to Kaguya who simply handled it in her typical fashion of rolling her eyes and huffing at him.

"Yeah, yeah." she said, waving it off as nothing which I could slightly agree on. Both men were seething from this, but before either of them got a chance to lash out at us our saving grace came to us.

"Naru." Masako said, holding her sleeve over her mouth as she pulled a bit of Naru's sleeve to get his attention.

"Not now Ms. Hara." he said, brushing her off as if she wasn't even there. She narrowed her eyes at this and lifted her chin. Now knowing her for as long as I have that meant one of two things. One, she was going to just pout about it, or two she was going to get back at him. My money was on number two tough since that's usually what she does with everyone else.

"Naru, the spirit is gone. There's no presence here what-so-ever." she said, continuing anyway as if he hadn't spoken at all. Everyone paused and looked at her when she said this as it processed through their minds.

"What?" everyone asked, looking at the young t.v. medium as if she had grown a third head. However, instead of answering them she simply turned her nose up and remained silent. following through on option number one that I mentioned before hand.

"It's true, I can't feel her either Noll." Gene said, looking around the cave with a dazed expression joining his already confused one.

"How did this happen?" he asked, directing his attention at the two of us obviously knowing that we were apart of the equation somehow. I laughed nervously on how we were going to explain this and already I could feel the questions that Naru had burring holes into my brain.

"Uh, let's talk about it inside." I offered, not wanting to stand outside anymore then I had to, especially if naru was just going to interrogate us like the police do to eye-witnesses and criminals. Though now that I think about it, that sounds more like Gene's strength then Naru's but then again I was Naru's precious tea maker. Naru and Gene were about to protest when Lin cut in and nodded at the two of us.

"Good idea." he said, leaving an opening for us to gather our thoughts. The walk back was much quicker then I wanted it to be and soon we were all once again sitting at base with everyone's eyes on Kaguya and myself.

"Now then-"

"Explain, yeah, yeah, yeah. We've heard it before." Kagy said, rolling her eyes at Naru as she cut him off. She received a glare from him for that, but in her typical fashion she didn't care.

"Kagy here completely gave her a piece of her mind and then she just moved on. Simple as that." I said, intervening before yet another argument popped up between those two. I pray for Gene to be able to handle these two, cause Lord only knows what they'll end up doing.

"That's all, you just talked to her?" Monk asked, looking at the two of us with suspicion. We both shared a look before looking back at him not quite sure what else to tell him since that was in essence all that we really did.

"Well if you want to get specific we ranted, but yeah." she said, shrugging her shoulders as if it were no big deal.

"Looks like we got quite a researcher and persuader here huh Naru." Yasu said, eyeing Kaguya as his glasses shined in the light. Whether that was a good or bad thing for us I don't know, but whatever it was, it was sure to be interesting.

"Personally I think she just got lucky." he said, looking away from said girl. i felt myself sweat-drop at how true that actually was at times and from the corner of my eye I could see Kaguya fuming from that comment.

"Hey!"

"But it is luck that we may need." he continued, acting like she hadn't said anything. Kaguya paused at this and blinked giving me a look asking if I knew where this was going only to shake my head in response. I barely understood what he was thinking on a regular day. This was way out of my league. Though we didn't have to wonder long, for he soon sighed and looked at her with a piercing gaze. "Kaguya, will you join SPR?"

"As my assistant." Gene added, chiming in and slug gin his arm over his brother's shoulders. Naru rolled his eyes and huffed at his brother's antics, but didn't say anything in retaliation.

"Oh, so you're going to be working with your brother then?" she asked, completely ignoring the offer that was given to her and making me glance at naru who was stewing at the fact that he was ignored yet again by the rebellious young woman. I sweat-dropped at the sight and couldn't help but hope that she accepted so that he could get to know her better and hopefully not judge her as he was right now. Though how he's been treating her I wouldn't be surprised if she declined.

"Yeah, and I'll be helping out at the force when we don't have cases." Gene said, earning a nod from his beloved.

"Alright then, I'll join."

"Yay!" I cheered, hugging her, glad that I would have someone else to help me with the god-awful paper work that Naru so unfairly gave to me.

"Well come to the team squirt!" Monk said, ruffling her hair in a similar fashion that he did to me. However, instead of giggling and enjoying it like I would have done she pouted and moved his hand.

"I'm not short."

"You are compared to the guys." Ayako teased, laughing at the flustered expression on Kagy's face.

"Not true, I'm almost John's height!" she defended, pointing a finger at said priest who was taken aback by the sudden accusation.

"Now, now, let's not fight." he said, putting his hands up in a defensive position hoping that they would refrain from fighting or at the very least keep him out of it. Before they could continue on with the topic, a shine caught our eyes only to find that Yasu's glasses had once again been adjusted and were reflecting the light in the room with an amused grin.

"Ya know what we should do." Yasu began, scanning all of us as we stayed there frozen in our spots not sure what kind of crazy he was about to unfold around us. Kaguya and Gene being the only two that didn't know about the spectacled man's behavior an quirks rose a brow at us and shrugged. When no one responded, Yasu simply chuckled and looked up with his signature sly expression. "How does throwing a welcome party for Kaguya and Gene for joining SPR sound?"

"Yeah, we could do it at the office!" Monk said, completely on board with the idea now since it no longer had any threat to hi in the slightest. Everyone else was buzzing with the idea as the excitement of the determined welcome party was welcomed with open arms. However, a groan split through it that belonged to none other then my favorite narcissist.

"How many times must I remind you that my office is not a café?" Naru asked, rubbing his temples with a sour expression on his face. Looking at him, I could already tell that there was a headache coming on.

"Oh come on Noll, you can make an exception for your amazing older brother." Gene said, trying to get his brother in a festive mood. this however only served to bring the pacifistic twin's mood down even farther as they began their sibling bickering yet again.

"If you're older then act like it for once."

"Oh boy." Kagy said, laughing awkwardly at the scene before us. I couldn't help but join in as well looking at them all.

"Yeah. Well at least the office won't be boring anytime soon." I said, happy for this fact, even though it was already a rare case that the office would be quiet. Now we were just adding gasoline to the fire and I couldn't be happier for it.
