A/N: Thank you for sticking with this story! Double thanks to those who've stuck with me since the begining! And continued reading, even after I took that year break between chapters. The fact that so many of you left reviews and or favorited this story, means so much to me. I don't even know how I would begin to describe it. I plan on leaving this as the final chapter, and I hope you all enjoy it. I promise though, not my last story, you can check out the others if you wish!
-Lorrinda.
Lily slept in, on the day of her wedding. Rolling over, she stretched, and smiled. Her red hair was tumbling over her shoulders, and her eyes were dark with sleep. Looking to her end stand, she saw the photo of her and James from graduation. His arm was slung across her shoulders, and she had a grin on her face. In the background Emmaline was grinning as well, but considering the picture her was trying to push picture Sirius into the Lake, who wouldn't smile? Alice and Frank could be seen behind them, hands clasped and smiling into each others eyes; while Remus stood to the side. His hands were tucked into the front pockets of his slacks, and his hair was waving in the breeze. Lily was happy to note that even Remus had a smile on his face. Shaking her head, she frowned when realizing that Peter wasn't in the picture. He had been present when it was taken, but his picture self must have more important stuff to do then hang out with his picture friends.
Giggling to herself, Lily climbed out of bed and threw open her curtains. The sun was bright, and had just enough heat to make the autumn air pleasent. Leaning against the glass, she grinned when she thought about her inner ramblings. If anyone heard her refering to ones 'picture self', she would probably be commited. Shrugging she ran a hand through her hair. Only for her fingers to get caught in a massive knot. She bit her lip, and risked a glance in the mirror. Eyes wide, she grinned, 'Hope James is prepared for my bed head.'
Turning when she heard a knock on her bedroom door, she watched as both her mother, and father entered. Her dad came in carrying a tray, covered with a white cloth. 'Morning, hunny.' He said. After placing the tray on her desk, he crossed to her, and pulled her into a hug. Lily wrapped her arms tightly around him, and breathed in the scent that was her father. She smelled his aftershave, and the faint hint of his morning coffee. Tightening her arms, she mumbled against his chest:
'Morning, daddy.' Smiling, Lily held on a moment longer, before trying to step back. Not making it far, she laughed, 'Daddy?'
William Evans held his daughter by her shoulders, and looked her over. Her red hair was a mess, and she still had sleepy eyes. Shaking his head, he gave her a small smile, 'I can't believe my little Lily is getting married today.'
Lily smiled at him, before hugging him again. 'I'll always be your little Lily.'
'No you won't.' Shaking his head, he cleared his throat. 'Now, you'll be just my Lily. My wonderful, beautiful, smart Lily.' Smiling sadly, he gently squeezed her shoulders. Taking a step back, he tucked his fingers into the pockets of his slacks. 'And if the young man of yours doesn't treat you right, well.' He arched a brow at her, and gave a short nod. 'I might not know how to do magic, but I can still kick his butt!'
Laughing, Lily smiled at him. 'Daddy! I don't think you've got anything to worry about. James is.. well he'll treat me right. Trust me.'
'Yeah, William.' Lilys mother, Clara stepped forward, 'That young man is a perfect gentleman. He'll take care of our little girl.'
Lily nodded her head, not making a comment and only raising her brows at the term 'perfect gentlemen'. 'Well he better.' Mr. Evans looked around the room his daughter had grown up in. The walls were painted soft pink, and there were white lacey curtains in the windows. On the bulletin board above her desk, there was a collection of photographs tacked. Both magical and muggle. Meaning, that while some stood still, a moment caught perfectly in time, the others were moving throughout the shot. He walked over to the board to study one photograph more carefully. He watched as his future son-in-law climbed off his broom, and let something gold fly out of his hands. James walked to his daughter pick her up and swing her around, before brushing a quick kiss to her lips. He watched his daughter lay her head on the boys shoulder, before looking away. 'You sure this is what you want, Lily? 'Cause it's not to late to change your mind.'
Shaking her head, the red head smiled. 'Daddy. James is what I want.'
'Hmpf.' Nodding his head once, he sent her a quick smile. 'Well then, I'll leave you to do what you've got to do then.' He strode out the room with long even strides, and quietly shut the door behind him.
Mrs. Evans shrugged her shoulders, and smiled at her daughter. 'He just wants you to be happy.'
'I know.' Sitting on the edge of her bed, Lily smiled at her mother, 'James does make me happy, momma.'
Running a hand through her own red hair, the older woman gave a knowing nod. 'I know he does, sweetheart. I see it everytime you talk about him. Or whenever he's in the same room as you.' Lily watched as her mother crossed the room, and took the cloth off the tray, revealing eggs, toast and bacon. 'Breakfast my dear!'
'Thanks.' Lily crossed to her desk, and helped herself to a piece of bacon. Biting her lip, she asked, 'Did you talk to Tuni?'
A sad look crossed Mrs. Evans face. 'Yes. And she's not going to be able to make it dear. She has a ... prior engagement.'
'Yeah.' Lily frowned down at her food. 'I just throught...' she trailed off.
'I know.' Running a hand down the back of her daughters head, 'I'm sorry, hunny.'
Lily opened her mouth to reply just at the sound of two 'pops' were heard outside, followed by the doorbell. They heard the front door open, before Emmalines voice floated up the stairs. 'Hello? Is there some sad woman here about to marry that toe-rag named James Potter?'
Taking a deep breath, James looked at his best man, with a frown. 'What do you think?'
'Eh-?' Sirius looked at his friend. 'You look quite splendid mate!'
'Yeah? Think Lily will think so?'
'Sure. I guess.' Shrugging Sirius looked at the man in front of him. 'I mean, you're clean. And match.' Grinning, he raised his brows, 'You know how much she likes it when you match.'
Chuckling, James turned back to the mirror, and started trying to tie his bow-tie. 'This is true. She does seem to like me best when I match.' Hearing the door open, he turned and saw Remus and Peter enter. 'What do you guys think? Look okay?'
When all Peter did was shrug, Remus rolled his eyes. 'You look fine. Your cummerbund and tie match the colors you guys have picked. And your suit is clean.'
Grinning, James nodded his head. 'Yeah. I wanted this exact shade of green. Matches her eyes. And blimely; her eyes are brilliant.' James was still messing around with his tie, and missed the look Sirius and Remus exchanged. Or the chuckle that followed. 'Oi! Moony, can you help me with this?'
Stepping forward, Remus frowned, 'James. I thought Lily said she wanted you to wear a skinny tie.' Folding the tie within itself, he set to work on making the green silk fabric resemble a tie.
'She did. But I like this more.'
'Done.' Remus took a step back, and brushed at his friends shoulders.
'Besides,' James looked at his reflection. Grinning, he straightened his glasses, and ran a hand through his hair. 'Bow-ties are cool.'
Sirius shook his head, 'This is going to be a record.' When the trio with him just sent him confused looks, he said, 'First wedding in history where the bride kills the groom. Over a tie.'
Laughing, Remus looked at his watch before nodding his head. 'It's about that time. Ready, Prongs?'
'I was born ready!'
Lily stood with her two closest friends in the back of the church where she was about to become Mrs. James Potter. Taking one of each their hands in hers, she smiled at them through her tears. 'Thank you both, so much!' Laughing a little, she pulled them into a hug, 'I don't know where I'd be without either of you. And I love you both!' She gushed.
Laughing, Alice hugged her back. Once she stepped back, she ran her hand down the front of her moss green brides maid dress. 'It was really no problem, Lils.' Smiling, she said, 'I expect you to return the favor. Next month. When me and Frank get married.'
'WHAT?!' Both Emma and Lily said. Then laughing, Lily once again pulled her friend into a hug. 'Of course, I'll be in your wedding. Why are you just now mentioning it?'
'Neither Frank or I want a big thing.' Shrugging a delicate shoulder, Alice smiled, 'Emma? You'll be there too, right?'
'I'd be offended if you didn't ask!' The three girls were laughing when the music started, and Lilys father spoke up: 'It's time.'
Lily stood back, and watched as her two friends slowly walked up the aisle. Each of them in a strapless dress, the color a shade lighter then moss. They held in there hands a single long-stemmed lily. When the music changed course, and took on a slower beat, she took her fathers arm. After sending a grin at him, they set off. Making sure she took deep, even breaths, Lily made her way to the front of the church. Looking up, she saw the dark haired man standing byside two of his best friends. His glasses were a bit lopsided, and his grin looked more like a smirk then anything. Lily bit her lip, and felt her heart swell with love. He took a step toward her, and she saw his tie. When she and her father made it to the front, she recieved his kiss and took James' arm.
Looking at him, she arched her brow, 'I like your tie.'
Grinning, James quickly kissed her, before turning to the minister. 'Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today...'
A/N: Mr. and Mrs. Potter can now live happily ever after, in holy matrimony! If only. Anyways. There you have it! I hope you've enjoyed their courtship.
And I know I started alot of different things through out the story that never actually played out. (Mainly when Dumbledore offered them an opportunity to join the Order of the Phoenix.) And I plan on going through and cleaning up certain areas. I'm going to be taking out what isn't important to the story, and fixing any and all grammar errors. I'll post a chapter after this, only once, when everything is fixed.
That being said, I hope you enjoyed reading the Date. (: And thanks for sticking with it!
