Summary:
Luna is a big fan of kindness, and she knows that Francis shows it, but on one fateful night, Martha, Luna's mom tries to do the unthinkable and kill Luna, but Francis, Luna's boyfriend, saves his own girlfriend from certain death.

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Luna and Francis's house)
Time: 9 PM (January 23rd, 2014)
It is a nice evening in Los Angeles. Many people home from work, and its a Friday night meaning parties, and the weekend, but one mother is very angry with her daughter for liking kindness as the one-shot begins.
Luna's room
"Kindness is what I strive for" I told myself as Francis walks in my room
"You ok girlfriend?" I heard him ask
"Come in" I told him
I was crying today because during school, my mom came unexpectedly and made a very bad comment. It not only upset me, but it made everyone cry including the teacher. I told my story to my boyfriend
Luna's school in Los Angeles (7 hours ago)
I went to my Social Studies class with high hopes of getting an A on a test we just took days ago. We were about to get our results when Ms. Price, the teacher, announced that a special guest is here. It turned out to be my mother, Martha. My mom is very mean to me when it came to kindness. As soon as everyone sat down, My mom spoke the words that I never wanted to hear.
"My daughter deserves to die" My mom commented as the whole class gasped
My mom is treating to kill me for what?
"What die she do wrong? Is she a suspect of a crime?" My classmate Mike asked
Mike is a very smart questioner. He scored 900 our of 900 points on the Crime Solvers game we play in class.
"She is representing kindness, and kind people shall die in the worst way possible. She dies tonight. She will never be seen again" My mother commented as she ran out the room
Everyone in the room was about to cry, including Ms. Price. She walked to me and hugged me. The whole class hugged me. I knew they never wanted me gone.
Luna's room- 9:25 PM- Present time
After hearing my story, my boyfriend hugged me. It was at that moment that my mother ran to the door.
"LUNA! YOU SHALL DIE!" I heard her yell
"Hide" My boyfriend said as I tried to hide under my bed sheets
I heard Martha come in the room, but what followed next was a gun shot. The bullet hits the floor along with blood. Blood flowing down my boyfriends right arm as I looked from under my sheets. He was bleeding badly and screening in pain.
"AHHHHHHH!" I heard him yell
"LUNA! COME OUT NOW!" My mother yelled as I tried to come out of my bed sheets.
As soon as I put my arm out, another gun shot, but I never felt the pain except for more blood flowing down from Francis's left arm. He saved me again, but this time he could barley move. My second fear is right in front of me, Francis potentially dying right in front of me.
"ENOUGH!" I yelled out to my mother, but she took out a sword
She ran toward my area, and she attempted to stab by heart area, but my boyfriend somehow moved in front of me and took the attack to his chest to save me from certain death. As soon as he landed on the bed, more blood started to fly out from his injuries, but whats worse is that he is not moving. I took a moment to feel his body, and it started to get cold. Could my boyfriend be on the verge of death? My question was answered when he spoke the words that signaled that he is about to die.
"Luna…*thank you…goodbye*" Francis spoke his last words to me
My worst fear came true. Francis died all because he and I tried to share kindness.
"FINALLY I KILLED YOUR IDIOTIC BOYFRIEND!" I heard my mom yell evilly
She has a sword in hand ready to kill me. This time, Francis is dead and can't protect me. I prayed to god it would not hurt. As the blade came closer, a voice came from the outside. It was the voice of police officers. My prayers of a secondary save are answered
"MARTHA, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR 4 MURDERS, AND 1 ATTEMPTED MUDER! COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!" The loudspeaker sounded
Wow. I never knew that my mom killed 4 people and almost killed another, but I wonder if that attempted murder is for trying to kill Francis. If so, it is now 5 murders. The police then went inside the house to find my mother. My mom trues to hide in the closet. I yelled the two hated words that I never wanted to.
"FRANCIS NOOOOO!" I yelled while crying.
Apparently, the officers inside the house heard me yell because they came up the stars and are outside the room ready to come in.
"Up them stairs!" One officer yelled as he moved up
"Clear!" Another one yelled
"Door on the left!" A third one yelled referring to my room
"Anyone in there?" An officer asked
"Im in here!" I yelled
"Come on out. I won't hurt you" The officer said as I left the room where my boyfriend died as a hero
"Name please" The officer requested
"My name is Luna, and I am the boyfriend of Francis, who died 10 minutes ago because of Martha" I said as the officer started crying
The officer who cried somehow knew Francis, and told the other officers the news.
"Francis died because of Martha, yes. Thats murder number 5, but there is another reason. It is because he loved you and wanted to protect you from death" The officer told me.
What the officer said is correct. Francis gave up his life (sacrificed himself) in order to save me. He is a hero. The officers went on to do the normal body bag procedure, then took Martha in for check in at the police headquarters. I took one last look at the room that housed two innocent people. We left for the Care Giving house in L.A since I had no father, mom is arrested, and Francis is dead. I may be alone physically, but I know in my heart and memory, Francis is there, never to be forgotten.
Day's Later
The city of L.A never forgot what Francis did to save Luna. They know that there are kind people in the world like Francis who are willing to save those who they love, even if it means that the person will make that sacrifice. Luna never forgot her hero.
Martha was guilty on only 1 of the murders, but since Francis's death was ruled a 'Level 4', Martha was given a sentence of 40 years behind bars. Some say it should have been a 'level 5' murder, which meant death penalty, but the judge said no.
Luna and Mike got to be a new couple, but they both included Francis as a member since it was Francis's idea of love spreading. To keep Francis's memory alive, Mike got to use Francis's clothes as a reminder that Francis is not gone mentally.
Authors Notes
"Thank you…goodbye" (Spoiler for the animie 'Sword Art Online')
This quote was actually in the Sword Art Online animie in two ways. In the first case, it was used in the episode titled 'Red Nosed Reindeer'. During the episode, Kirito and his guild , the Blue Night Cats (or closer to it) go into a dungeon. As they found a treasure chest, a trap activated forcing the group to fight two groups of monsters. As the fight continued, each member of the team died one by one until it was down to Sachi, and Kirito. One of the monsters kills Sachi, and before she dies/disappears , she whispers something….. Later in the episode, Kirito receives a gift box from Sachi. During the message, Sachi hums a christmas tune, which turned out to be the classic Christmas Carol "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer', which is the title of the episode. At the end of the recoding, the whispered words are spoken, "Thank you….goodbye".
In another event in the animie, a similar scenario is played during the episode "The End of the World". In this episode, Kirito fights Heathcliff on the 75th floor of Castle Anciriad. During this fight, Asuna, Kirito's girlfriend, jumps in to take an attack to save Kirito. She says her last words before 'dying' which are "Im sorry. Kirito, this is goodbye". She 'dies'/disappears until the end of the episode .
