"You know, Rose is right. You too were closest to me and yet you didn't even know it was me. I couldn't have changed that much. My eyes are really the only things different about me. Oh, and my hair but other than that not much. It actually hurts to know that my own brother and sister didn't recognize me. I know this was unexpected but I have a lot to get off my chest, so don't speak." Rose looked at me confused.
What are you doing?
You'll see. Just, in advance I'm sorry if this hurts you. I don't want it to.
I saw a vision play through my mind after I made the decision to begin this conversation and I knew she saw it too. I temporarily disabled Alice's ability, so she hadn't seen it.
"I know that you guys have no idea what happened before you all left so I am going to tell you. Before I start I just want you to know I understand what happened and I never had to forgive you because it was never your fault. I have felt the lust for human blood from over twenty vampires and I could barely control myself, I don't know that I could have held myself back if I had known how it actually tasted, and I'm sorry that you will also have to endure that at some point." I projected what I'd felt and projected it at Rose. She looked shocked and backed away from me.
"I'm so sorry Jazz, I never knew. If that was what Izzy felt like when she hadn't tasted blood, I can't imagine how you felt know what blood is like." He nodded and I continued my story.
"In the days after my party Edward started to drift and one day he came by my house after school. He told me he wanted to talk and like the idiot I was back then I followed him out to the woods behind my house. He took me pretty deep in and told me that he was breaking up with me. He said that he never loved me and that I was nothing but a plaything for him and the rest of you. He said that it would be like he never existed and it broke me. I hoped that he would be the only one leaving but I knew that was too good to be true. When I found out that you had all left without a word it shattered me." I looked over to my love and saw that she was upset.
I sorry, I'm so very sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I should have never left you. I should have fought harder for you. I let him take you away from me twice, and it will never happen again I love you too much. Forgive me. She kept saying forgive me mentally. I pulled her close and hugged her as tight as I could.
I forgave you a long time ago, baby. I love you too much too ever let you go over something that happened so long ago.
The others sat and watched our exchange in silence. Rose calmed down after a few seconds and smiled at me when she pulled back.
"Now as I was saying, for several months I was unresponsive to everything around me and contrary to popular belief I wasn't upset that Edward left. It was more the fact that my family left. After a few months of feeling sorry for myself I got up and drove to Seattle. I met Chris at a small diner there. We became fast friends and soon almost all my time was spent with him. One night we were out and we were bitten. The years afterwards were spent as nomads, until we finally settled back here in Forks."
"Bells, I am so sorry for how I treated you when you first came here. You looked so different. I should have been able to see the similarities. It was also the fact that you walked in like you belonged here and I didn't know who you were. I thought you were dead. When we came back they told us you were with a friend and the two of you had been killed in an accident." I nodded at this information because that was our cover story, but what surprised me was that they came back. I wonder how long it had taken them. Finally Alice took a turn speaking.
"We came back about a year and a half after we left. We realized soon after we left that we were all miserable without you. We would have, and should have, come back sooner but Edward told us that you didn't want us around. I'm sorry it took us so long to get back to you. I fought against leaving but Carlisle said it was ultimately Edward's decision because he was your mate." That statement got a growl from Rose, who was still wrapped in my arms, and me.
"Did any of you and Carlisle ever consider that maybe, just maybe Edward was never my mate. You should have known the moment he told you to leave that he couldn't have been my mate. I would never leave my mate for a prolonged amount of time because it would hurt too much." Again Alice and Emmett looked confused but Jasper smiled at us, and I knew that he could feel the love radiating off of me and Rose.
"You have a mate? Is it Chris." I looked at Alice with a disgusted face.
"Definitely not."
Do you want to tell them? I asked Rose. She nodded but also replied mentally.
I think that we should only confirm Jasper's theory and wait until you meet with the rest of my family to tell them. Alice and Emmett can't keep secrets and I know you really want to see Eddy's reaction. That was so true.
"That my friends is a story for another day. A day when I come face to face with the rest of the Cullen Clan. For now I have to go, and Rose has to come with me. So do you Jasper, but you will be back before Rose. Grab a car and follow us.
I pulled out my phone on the way to the door and texted my best friend.
Meet me and Rose at the treaty line. We are bringing Jasper along so don't attack. –Izzy
Ok be there in a few –Wolfy
I laughed at my contact name for Jacob. He hated that so much. But it's what he gets for having me in his phone as babe. Fair compromise I believe. I climbed in the driver's side and waited until I heard Jasper behind us to pull out.
It took about ten minutes to get to the treaty line at the speed and when we got there Rose and I got out. She sat on the hood of the car and I leaned back between her legs. Jasper pulled up and looked at us confusedly as he climbed out and stood beside us.
Jake walked out of the forest a few seconds after we pulled up.
"Blondie, Babe. What brings you to this side of the woods?"
"We need to explain some things to our dear brother , away from prying ears and eyes. So we will be going to my place. If any of the Cullens try to get over the line get rid of them, but don't kill them. Thanks, Wolfy." I said as I walked back around to my side. I started the car and drove toward my place which was on a cliff at the edge of the rez. We had built into the cliff to add the basement and pool and everything.
As we walked in I could see Jasper looking around in awe.
"We'll have plenty of time for a tour later, brother. For now, we need to talk."
