The Killing Pandemic

Chapter 5: The wheels on the bus go kill, kill, kill...

Still rubbing his sore arm, Paul invaded the cafeteria, He was not alone…..

The un-dead covered the building, There was no more survivors as far as he could tell. Paul was an expert at picking locks, he at least considered himself one. The only reason he somewhat doubted his "expert" lock picking skills was because of his arm. So far pain killers did nothing for him.

When the zombie first bit him, he could feel venom coursing through his veins, as if a snake bit him. The pain was so strong he nearly blacked out. He literally begged Dawn to kill him, It's better to die a human then to die a zombie.

But Dawn did the inexplicable, she stopped the venom by cutting out the chunk of skin that had been infected. He was grateful for that, but after all that he went through he wasn't sure he could pull off breaking into the school's pantry. Wasn't that like stealing or something?

Anyways, He managed to get this far, why stop now? There he was standing in front of the pantry and all he could do was gawk. Finally breaking himself from the mental battle in his head, he started picking at the door…

Dawn was worried, she wasn't entirely sure that she cut the venom out. Her Dad did teach her how to cut out anything that could be injected into someone or something. But he wasn't the most reliable man, now was he? Where was Paul? Should she go check on him she wondered.

His lock picking skills failed him, so he had no choice other than to break the lock. Taking the metal bat Dawn gave him, He swung at the lock narrowly missing it. Taking a few more swings he finally managed to break in. 'Hmm that's funny, why aren't the zombies here?' Opening the door with caution, he stepped into the little storage pantry.

Finding canned everything, he looked for items that weren't too heavy. What he put into his bag was:

LIST of items Paul got:

1. Cherry pie filling

2. Cheerios

3. peanutbutter

4. Kidney beans

5. Crackers

6. granola bars

7. tea

8. Little Debbie's Swiss Rolls

9. Apples

10. Soup

11. Meat ravioli

12. Hot dogs

13. Canned tuna

14. Nuts

15. Canned Fruit

16. Gushers

17. Fruit leather

18. Bread

19. water bottles

Paul's bag wasn't all the way full, but just in case, he had extra room.

"Paul, You made it!" Ms. Naikou called out. "Yep!" Paul blushed. "What did you get?" Raye said standing over the bag dreamily. "Stuff." Paul responded. "Good, now we can somewhat survive!" Shiyoku joked. Now Shiyoku wasn't the one to joke. But she decided to make a "funny" as some people call it.

Everyone except Dawn laughed. Ms. Naikou wasn't an idiot for nothing, she was book smart, but not socially smart. Nor was she Zombie smart. Ms. Naikou, or Misa as she wanted to be called , had long hot pink hair that was just hanging their. She wore a blue mini skirt, white, ruffled blouse, and black high heels. "Call me Misa." She said to the kids as they ventured outside.

"Okay." All but Shiyoku said in unison. "Ms. Naikou-" She started. "Misa." The nurse corrected. "Misa, Can you drive?" Shiyoku continued. "What kind of question is that? Of course I can drive!" Misa screamed, outraged that she would even ask something like that. "Okay then, what kind of car?" she continued, not making a single facial expression. "It seats 4 people." Ms. Naikou replied. "I know how to hotwire cars." Dawn spoke up, continuing. " I'll hotwire a bus." "Okay, And Ms. Naikou will drive." Shiyoku said, smirking. "IT"S MISA!" The teacher bellowed. "Settle down lady!" Raye said.

"Now's not the time to fight, Dawn please go find us a bus, bring Misa with you." Shiyoku said. " 'K" Dawn replied.

10 minutes later

"C'mon Misa! Hurry up.." Tugging at the nurse's hand, they finally came to a bus. Taking out her pocket knife, Dawn managed to open the doors. …

After the bus was up and running, The two maneuvered their way through cars and passing by zombies. "Just run them over Ms. Naikou!" "IT'S MISA! And they are still human in my mind so I could never do that." She replied. "Wimp, Here let me take the wheel." Dawn said, pushing Misa to the side.

Blood and guts splattered the windshield and Dawn ran them over. "Click that button right there." Misa said pointing to a button marked windshield wipers. Pushing the button, Wiper fluid sprayed the debris and the wipers pushed it away.

Making their way up to the entrance , Raye, Paul, and Shiyoku boarded it's Metal wonders….

"The engine attracted several un-dead." Raye said in a matter of fact tone. "Ms. Nai- er' Misa, Please ram into the gate." Paul said , looking at Dawn's blood covered hands.

A giddy smile lit up her face as she rammed into the gate. Pieces of metal flew ,and fizzled. "I guess the security system isn't that high tech." Raye said, laying on a seat. "Nope." Misa replied. "Where do we go now?" She asked. "To one of our houses." Shiyoku said. "I'm hungry!" Raye groaned. "Here Take this." Paul said, throwing a granola bar in his direction. "Ewww! It's like healthy and stuff." He complained. " Tough luck." Paul smirked.

"Can I have one?' Dawn asked, rubbing her growling stomach. "Yea, but wash your hands off or something." He replied, eyeing her red hands. Wiping her hands on her jeans she again, said. "Can I have one Puh-lease?" Her stomach becoming growling rapidly. "Fine." He mumbled, throwing a chocolate chip raisin one at her. Immediately she gobbled it up.

"Oh, yeah! Here's your girly scarf." Dawn threw the blood soaked fabric in his direction. "Thanks I guess." He said fingering the before purple now purple and blood stained scarf, and numbly put it in his bag.

"Well, We should go to My house….. It's about 20 min. away from here and Paul's is there also." Dawn said . "No, we should find better weapons first." Shiyoku said, calmly. "Yeah we should, my bat is getting splintery, and theirs Mrs. Adams blood and guts seeping through the wood. So it's pretty much rendered useless." Raye said, fingering the blood stained wood.

"STOP!" Paul yelled. "Their's too many of them!" "Agreed. If we keep on going the bus will tip over." Shiyoku calmly said. "Oh well that's too bad! I really wanted to run them over!" Ms. Niakou giggled. "Wait!" Dawn cried out. "There's a girl, HUMAN girl standing there!" Sure enough there was a little blonde haired girl , standing there silently, watching. "I'm gonna help her." Dawn said opening the door. "No, I'll do it." Paul said, looking worried. "Let's both go…. I guess." Dawn mumbled, opening the door for the purple haired man.

Stepping on the pavement was just awkward. Dawn and Paul, well more like Paul, clung to Dawn's hip like a panda bear. "Could you like, I don't know… Maybe let go?" Dawn laughed. "Hey I rhymed!" She screamed, attracting the little girls attention. "C'mon, let's go get her." Paul said, digging his nails into Dawn's abdomen. Gently pulling his hands off, she nodded in agreement.

Making there way towards the blonde beauty wasn't easy. The had to carefully maneuver their way towards her. Once they made it to her Dawn said. "Come with me." " Okay, I'm Jack." The blonde said. "That's a weird name for a girl." Paul smirked. "Paul!" Dawn yelled, hitting his arm. "You don't say that to people!" "Sorry…" mumbled Paul. "That's fine, I'm actually a boy." The little kid smiled. The only expression plastered to their faces was embarrassment. (those embarrassed faces you see in the anime.)

Jack had shoulder length blonde hair, and piercing blue eyes. His attire wasn't to appealing, in fact he was wearing blue stripped shorts, and a pink Hollister top. "My mommy wanted a girl." He said looking at his yellow sunflower flip-flops. "How old are you?'' Paul asked, a smug expression creeping on his face. "Five!" The little boy held up two fingers. Taking Paul and Jack by the hand, Dawn led them back to safety....
