Quick update. For the win!
Amelia
"So, where have you trawled in from?" Kyle asked. Turning himself so that he was fully facing Amelia.
She didn't like this sudden change of conversation so instead focused on looking around her.
"This place is beautiful." She whispered, brushing the flowers around her carefully with the tip of her fingers. She liked how calm she was feeling right now despite being alone with a complete stranger. Although now she looked at him carefully-
"It is something this place. I have been coming here since I first arrived about three years ago. It relaxes me." He explained whilst casually moving closer to her. She didn't mind. He didn't seem to mean anything by it. He was probably just moving closer in order to make it easier to talk. He had been at least a metre away after all.
"I see what you mean." Amelia replied almost wistfully. She looked at Kyle and watched as his light blonde hair was moved by the breeze. The sun alighted on his face in just the right way, making his eyes shine and his smile seem angelic somehow. His skin seemed just perfect and it was only now that Amelia noticed the addicting gravel to his voice.
"So, where have you come from?" he asked again. This time, trusting him more, she answered him without hesitating.
"From down South."
"Oh? So you're from Carolina?" he asked, seemingly innocent.
"Much more South." She answered. Smiling slightly as he leaned in closer to her.
"Oh…I don't know…" he moaned, "Why can't you tell me?"
"I don't like people who can't be sports," she declared. Pulling back from him.
"Fine, Kansas?"
"I am no Dorothy."
"Fine, Mississippi."
"Nope."
"Is Florida correct?" he asked moving closer still as she leant back further onto her elbows.
"Bingo Einstein."
"Ooh. A Floridian Angel are you then?"
"I am no angel." She corrected, thinking of her brother almost immediately. "I've committed too many sins."
She looked away from him with tears in her eyes. She's lost her family and here she was, coming on to the first pretty boy who had shown some actual interest in her.
Kyle gently grasped her chin and pulled her to look at him.
"Don't cry…um…"
"Amelia. My name is Amelia." She exasperated. What was she doing? This guy didn't like her, he couldn't even remember her name.
"Don't cry Amelia, I'll make it all go away." Kyle comforted whilst wrapping his arms around her. She almost started crying as he tried to comfort her. He would never be able to comfort her once she started to properly mourn. She was getting by with thoughts of saving her brother but once this was all over? That is when she would begin to mourn.
As she was lost in her thoughts, Kyle had pulled back from their embrace slightly. It was enough for Amelia to see his face and then he was there. Leaning in towards her lips.
She began to panic. Did she want this? Hell no. Was she tempted though? She'd admit that she was.
Then they were joined and it felt nice until her senses kicked in and she could fell the wrongness of it. They'd only just met for goodness sake!
She pulled back quickly leaving him with a shocked expression.
"I'm sorry but I can't. I barely know you for one and…it feels wrong." She apologised. Whilst going to stand up.
"You girls are all the same aren't you?" Kyle asked, suddenly angry.
"What?" Amelia gasped, shocked at his change of temperament.
"You play with us. Sending us all of these signals then ditch us at any sign of anything happening. But you know what? No more." His face was set into a furious scowl.
"I'm sorry but I didn't realise…I didn't know…I'm sorry…" she stuttered, pushing herself up to a standing position.
"That's what all of them say. 'I'm sorry' and 'I didn't know' but I'll tell you what, I know that it's all lies. I will not be lied to again!" he screamed at her. He lunged himself at her and she turned and fled in terror. Maybe she had lied slightly but she hadn't meant anything by it. What she had been doing wasn't all out silent messaging was it?
She looked behind her and found him grasping for her.
She went to put on a burst of speed but he managed t grasp her regardless. She went flying to the ground with him on top of her.
She struggled as he worked to get a better grip on her. Him succeeding by getting a tight grip on both of her forearms.
"Let me go!" she shouted desperately. Hoping that either he'd listen or there'd be somebody close enough to hear her.
"No way. Not this time. Now shut up." He hissed into her ear before turning her onto her back.
"No!" she screamed. He cursed and smacked her face hard enough to leave her stunned for a few seconds. Within those few seconds he had restrained her by kneeling on her arms whilst straddling her.
"You're mine." He whispered before bending down to kiss her.
She struggled desperately, throwing her head from side to side in an attempt to stop him. He simply held her face still with one hand then plunged his lips onto hers, forcing his tongue to collide with hers.
She squealed and tried to get away but he held a firm grip.
Amelia felt a power rising within her as she continued to struggle. The power feeling started to become unbearable as Kyle's hand other hand started to ride up her shirt. Trailing patterns in her skin as he went.
"NO!" she screamed desperately, pushing him back with all of her strength. It didn't work as he pulled himself back down. Crushing her under him.
"Shut up!" he shouted back, smacking her across the face again for good measure.
"Help!" she screamed regardless.
"Nobody is around. Nobody is coming. You're all alone but for me you stupid girl." He hissed whilst grasping her left breast tightly.
She screamed in pain and hit his hand away.
The power coursing through her took that moment to burst from her and Kyle was flung back, landing about 10 metres away.
Amelia gasped in shock as pure darkness seemed to leak from her, bleaching the light from the meadow as if it was night.
Kyle looked at her then at the sky which was becoming a sea of pure black.
"What are you doing?" he asked, verging on panic. Amelia couldn't answer, not knowing herself. Kyle stormed over to her and grabbed her by her hair, pulling her up to meet his face.
"I said, what are you doing!" he screamed desperately. She screamed back in pain then a deep growl filled the darkness of the meadow. Kyle immediately dropped her and turned to face two red eyes which had appeared about 5 metres away from them. He cursed and dropped into a defensive stance.
"No weapon. No plan. No armour. I am dead." Amelia heard Kyle mutter. He looked back at her then at the monster that had gotten clearer. "Damn girls!" he shouted. Moving to protect Amelia as she struggled to rise.
She looked up at the sky as the darkness had stopped bleeding from her. There was a pitch black circle covering the entire meadow but just before the view of it met the treetops, there was a slight strip of blue sky. Amelia was relieved that she hadn't affected the entire camp but just this meadow.
The monster leapt at her and Kyle expertly pushed it to the side and followed it through with a roundhouse kick.
"Get out of here!" he yelled at her. She nodded slightly and started to run away. She turned back once before she left the meadow and saw Kyle being effortlessly swiped to the side. He hit a tree head first and slumped to the ground, unconscious.
"Kyle!" she screamed. He may be a horrible sleaze for a guy but nobody deserved to die like this. The hellhound turned its head towards her and began a loping run after her.
She turned back around and ran. Fast. Faster. Running. She had to. She wasn't ready to die.
Tears begun to stream their way in rivulets down her face. She stumbled and fell, the monster soaring over her and stopping in front of her. Facing her and standing there.
Now she saw it up close, she recognised it as a hellhound. Its eyes were shining red and its breath was misting about its face as it breathed. She stood up and it's head bowed towards her as if she was royalty.
"Go away." She whispered to it fearfully. She didn't expect it to but it did. It nodded then it vanished down into the ground. Her eyes widened and she stared at the place it had been for about a minute before her fear took over. She'd saved Kyle but she couldn't go back to him. Not after what he'd…attempted…to do.
She took a deep breath at the thought and tried to swallow down a cry but failed and after a few seconds, found herself sobbing desperately for everything. It was all gone. Everything had been taken. All she could do now was get her brother back and then protect him better.
She nodded to herself than began to walk in the way that she thought would take her out of the camp.
Her brother was the only thing she had left. Her confidence was gone. Her…father…was gone. Her home, her friends, her entire old life. All of it had crashed and burned before her eyes and before she could do anything to stop it. She was useless here at the camp. She could already see it. Everybody had been so kind to her but…
What were those powers? What had happened back then? Had it been a hallucination? No. Even she knew that. But then what?
She came out of her thoughts and found herself on the hill in which the battle had taken place. There were strewn weapons everywhere and blood splattered parts of the floor.
She took a deep breath then looked at the archway that led into the camp.
"I'm sorry." She whispered, tears in her eyes. She then took another deep breath and began her journey. Deciding to start by following the road to wherever it may go.
I'm coming Alex.
She has now left and Kaleb will come back in the next chapter! He's in need of a status update :p
