18. Headmaster's Office
I hope you like it, it was a spontaneous idea :)
Albus Dumbledore was walking around in his office, humming a muggle tune while he fed Fawkes and summoned some things he had left lying around everywhere in the round room. He was looking forward to a nice, quiet evening by the fireplace with a good book, some chamber music and Madame Rosmerta's mead and he thought that nothing would hold him back from his wonderful plans, feeling like he had worked enough today – he had been forced to deal with a few nasty, biting howlers, obviously charmed by the Weasley twins.
Albus was just about to leave the Headmaster's Office as the door flew open and his Deputy Headmistress Minerva McGonagall entered, a furious look on her face as she saw that he was ready to leave and call it a day.
"Albus, have you finished the timetables you were due to finish yesterday?!" Minerva snarled, glaring at him, her hands pressed into her hips and Albus gulped, trying to hide that he felt a little bit afraid of the woman some people just called the Scottish Storm.
"I fear not, my dear, I had to deal with a Weasley prank," Albus answered, giving his best to smile at her in his usual manner. "But I will give my best to finish them tomorrow, it is pretty late and..."
"The sun is still shining outside, Albus! Spare me your excuses, you have your duties to fulfil! Normally you don't hesitate to do a night shift and today you will do it as well because there is no way I am going to do your work! I want you to finish them and hand them out tomorrow morning, at eight o'clock sharp!" Minerva fulminated, digging her finger into his chest and Albus retreated slowly, every step taking him back to his desk.
"I... sure, Minerva. I will start with the work immediately," he answered, sounding nearly abashed, and a small, triumphant grin appeared on Minerva's face before she left. Albus sighed as he looked after her before he took his seat and grabbed his quill.
She was the only one who was allowed to rain on his parade – but he would never dare to rain on hers.
