Adam Milligan felf like his head was swimming. Two minutes ago, the angel Castiel had come back with his Grace which had destroyed his body, which had then reformed itself into a vessel for him under some rather mysterious circumstances that had caused "Sam" to mutter "Don't everybody thank me at once." before wincing and saying "I'll shut up now.".

On the one hand, he was Adam Milligan, son of Kate Milligan whom the angels had said they would bring back to life if he said yes to becoming Michael's vessel and getting the Apocalypse back on track. On the other hand however...On the other hand, he was an angel named Aziraphale which had been a somewhat rebellious and almost completely unnoticed corruption of his original Aziraphael, and Michael was standing right in front of him clearly not needing a vessel since he had his own body.

"So, what now?" he asked, wondering where he went from here and instinctively seeking guidance from the closest of his superiors in the vicinity.

"I don't know." Dean/Michael said. "I'm still trying to figure out where we go from here myself. Honestly, I think all of us are. This whole crapfest wasn't supposed to happen the way it's gone down, and we're so far off-script that it isn't even funny."

Castiel who'd been giving Sam and Dean dark glares the entire time he'd been here muttered something that sounded suspiciously like "You got that right.".

Without warning, Adam conked out and found himself talking to Zachariah who was trying to persuade him to say yes to Michael. From the looks of things, the frazzled and frustrated angel hadn't figured out who he was. Knowing that if he gave the game away without permission, he'd more than likely be killed seven ways from Sunday by his older "brothers", he played along.

"What was that about?" Sam/Lucifer asked when he woke up.

"Zachariah tried to get me to say yes, and when I started hedging, he tried to get me to give my location away for some strange reason" he replied.

"Leave it." Dean/Michael said. "It's a trap, and I'm not in the mood to deal with that slimy little weasel right now. I might end up doing something I regret. Or worse, something I don't regret."

"So, what do we do now?" he asked, wondering if he was starting to sound like a broken record. Being what he was, it was second nature for him to act under the orders of his superiors, and right now, he didn't feel very comfortable running around without any orders.

"We're Hunters, aren't we?" Sam/Lucifer asked as if he'd suddenly just remembered that fact.

"Yeees." Dean/Michael replied, drawing the word out to two syllables as he wondered where Sam/Lucifer was going with this.

"Why don't we go and hunt?" Sam/Lucifer asked.

"Good idea Sammy! Let's go!" Dean/Michael replied.

"What about him?" Sam/Lucifer asked.

"He can tag along if he wants to." Dean/Michael replied. "I seem to recall him saying something about what he wanted to do to the things that snacked on humans before."

"Welcome to the team." Sam/Lucifer said, giving him a smile that was apparently meant to be welcoming, but that he found to be downright disturbing, and would've found to be disturbing even if he hadn't known who Samifer was.

Zachariah sat in the lavishly appointed "Green Room" which had been set up in an abandoned factory in Van Nuys, California and waited, and waited, and waited...

"So, what are we doing here?" Sam asked as he and his brother pulled into the parking lot of a rather fancy looking resort that was sitting in the middle of nowhere.

"Aside from the fact that the Elysian Fields Hotel went out of business in the 1960s due to its crappy location?" Dean asked his brother.

Adam, who was sitting in the back seat playing with a used PSP and some games they'd picked up in Sioux Falls when it became obvious that he wouldn't be able to handle a long car trip without some serious distractions, added nothing to this conversation, as he'd added nothing to the conversations before it. Used to being alone together, Sam and Dean had completely forgotten to include Adam in their conversations on Life, the Universe, and Everything, and also forgotten to tell Adam that he was free to speak up if he had something useful to add.

"So, what do you say we go check it out?" Dean asked.

When they arrived at the hotel, it was to find that it was full of Pagan gods. When Dean had found the huddled humans in the freezer, the urge to start smiting Left, Right, and Center had nearly overtaken him. Adam had damn near started up with the smiting himself, until he'd told the little guy to get the humans out of there and to safety. Growling at the indignity of it all, Sam allowed himself to be slow enough to be chased and "captured" in order to help provide the distraction Adam would need in order to get out of the hotel with the humans in tow.

To top this little shitfest off, Gabriel had come swanning in disguised as Loki of all things. Turned out that after he'd run away from Heaven, he'd taken on the identity of Loki. Whether or not he'd inspired it or taken over after Loki had been imprisoned was up for debate.

Sam's grumbling as everyone blamed the Apocalypse on Lucifer who admittedly had a big hand in it, due to the fact that the starting of the Apocalypse would've freed him from the Pit didn't help Dean's mood. Eventually, after a bit of theater with Kali and Gabriel, the Gods had "convinced" Sam to call for Lucifer. Wondering what the hell would happen when he did so, Sam did as he was asked.

Surprisingly, someone, someone who most definitely wasn't Lucifer answered that call.

"Is that who I think it is?" Sam asked.

"Yup." Dean replied.

"We'd better get out of here while he's distracted." Sam said.

And, with a flash, they vanished while the one who answered the call was forced to deal with the Pagan gods who had confronted him.

Castiel jingled the rings he had in his pocket. Though what he was doing smacked of betrayal, Gabriel had told him that it was a good idea to have the keys on hand just in-case Lucifer stopped playing whatever game he was currently playing and actually decided to get serious about the Apocalypse despite his being the one who was fond of trashing "Daddy's plans", and Michael was forced to stop playing around and follow "Daddy's" orders like he should've been doing. Part of the reason he was collecting these things was for the Dean that had been before Michael's Grace had taken over, the Dean he had been willing to disobey for and give up everything for.

He currently had a bead on Pestilence, and when he found him, he would have three of the four rings, with the only one remaining being the one that belonged to Death.

If he could defeat him in his weakened state that was.
