What happened last:
Princess Bubblegum decided that hacking the Guild of Assassins' mainframe was the easiest way to fix the whole problem with the Guild of Assassins and started to work on it but there's a problem… She's not as good at hacking as she thinks. And now, before hacking into the mainframe with PB's help, Marceline got caught in a daydream.
As Marceline, Bubblegum, Finn and Jake were walking back to the princess' lab to begin the hacking process, Marcy began to daydream of the time she and Finn had alone a few hours prior.
Maybe she was contemplating… trying to figure out everything.
Marceline woke up in Finn's arms to him already awake. He was lying completely still so as to not disturb her; waiting for her to wake up.
She awoke with her face still buried in Finn's shoulder after crying. She broke down because of all the weight that's been on her shoulders recently. The stress had been building up inside and she just had to let it all out at some point.
Finn wasn't able see her face to know that she woke up and he didn't need to. He could tell that she woke up based on her change in breathing pattern. She went from peacefully inhaling and exhaling at the same cadence to randomly breathing silently. And yet once again, Finn found himself noticing more subtle things about the vampire queen that he's never picked up on before.
F: "Good morning… or afternoon or something." He had no idea what time it was because it was dark in the room due to the shutters being closed.
It took Marcy a second to respond because she just woke up.
M: "Oh uh, good morning Finn." And I think it might be nighttime now." She said, giving random pointless details.
F: "Eh… details."
Marceline sat up in bed so that she and Finn were sitting upright together.
F: "So, how are you?"
M: "I'm… good. I just got a lot on my mind." She sounded a bit sad and stressed out.
F: "Like what Marcy?" Finn said as he looked into the vampire's dull crimson eyes.
Marceline just looked at Finn with a heavy heart. She was feeling some sort of internal turmoil inside but she didn't want to tell Finn why. But she had to…
She looked at the human boy, wanting to kiss him hoping that it would take some of the pain in her heart away.
Suddenly, Finn leaned in to kiss the vampire queen. He could see it in her eyes that it's what she wanted.
It was an intense and passionate kiss as it always was except that Marceline felt colder than she usually did. Her lips felt as if she was standing out in the cold for hours. They felt as if she was freezing to death.
Finn wouldn't normally have noticed a change in her body temperature like this or even thought anything of it, but he knew her better than he ever had before and he noticed the subtle difference.
After the kiss ended Finn looked Marceline in the eyes and put a serious look on his face, he was feeling very concerned.
F: "Marceline, are you feeling ok? You're colder than usual."
M: "It's nothing Finn… I'm fine."
F: "No Marcy, it's not just nothing, please tell me what's wrong. You know you can tell me." He said, reassuring the vampire that he's there for her.
M: "It's just… everything that's been going on is really bothering me. Soo much has happened soo fast."
F: "…Well, if you feel like I'm around too much then we could just not see each other for a few days or something I'm sure that-"
M: "No! Finn… YOU are not what I'm talking about. You're the only thing keeping me sane." She said, starting to sound incredibly upset but felt better after explaining herself.
F: "Well, if it's not me then what Marcy?"
M: "It's just all of this craziness. Everything from you getting hurt all the time and this Guild of Assassins thing to finding out that my own mother basically abandoned me when I was a baby…" Her voice was starting to crack up.
F: "What…?"
M: "What, what?" She said, sounding confused. She repeated the word to emphasize her uncertainty.
F: "I think you said "mother" in there, clearly you meant something else."
M: "No, I'm pretty sure I- oh my glob." She realized that she never got a chance to tell Finn about Maja being her mother.
F: "…what?" He was starting to feel confused and completely lost.
M: "I didn't tell you about Maja did I?"
F: "What? Did you guys get to destroy her? Or… or throw her in the dungeon for the rest of her life?!" He was getting excited as he usually does when he thinks about putting bad guys behind bars or destroying evil.
M: "No Finn, she escaped and… she's my mother…"
F: "What the nuts?! When did that happen?"
M: "Ummm… when I was born?" She answered his seemingly dumb question with a slightly sarcastic tone.
F: "No! Like, when did you find out?"
M: "Oh! After she knocked you out with that table she told me."
F: "Whoa, crazy. And how did you get out of there?"
M: "Ugh… let me just tell you the whole story."
She decided that telling him the whole story was easier than answering his questions.
Marceline then told Finn everything that happened while he was unconscious. She told him about everything in the past that Maja talked about and all of Maja's plans to take over Ooo using the demons in the Nightosphere. And then she mentioned how PB came by and saved everyone. It was a lot of information to give in a short time.
M: "And now we're sitting here, talking." She finished her story with an obvious statement.
F: "Whoa… heavy stuff…"
M: "Yeah, and now you're getting hurt all the time now and it's all my fault." She started to sound sad again.
F: "No it's not Marcy. How is that your fault?"
M: "I'm sure someone wants you dead because you're basically protecting me…"
F: "That's crazy talk. People try to jack me up all the time. This aint' no different."
M: "Really Finn? You never get hurt this badly or this often. How can you not see that?"
F: "Ah c'mon, that stuff's just coincidence."
Marceline went silent for a few seconds. She knew what she was thinking and she didn't want it to become a reality. But she absolutely hated seeing Finn lying in a hospital bed.
M: "No it's not, Finn… It's me I know it. They're trying to get you because they know we're together." She was on the verge of crying.
Even though the mood was very serious, Finn couldn't help but get butterflies in his stomach when Marceline said that they're "together".
F: "And that's ok. They can try, and they will fail. I'll get knocked down but I'll get right back up to fight them. And besides, they can't try to kill me forever right?"
Marceline didn't want to say that they could absolutely go forever. The way that the guild works is that even if an entire generation cannot complete a "hit", the contract would go to the next generation.
"If the contract is filled, blood will spill."

M: "No Finn… maybe if I wasn't around then they would just leave you alone?"
F: "Marceline, I'm sure that Princess Bubblegum can figure something out." He tried convincing her that it would all turn out ok.
Finn looked the vampire queen straight in the eyes and interlaced his fingers with hers. Every time he looked into her crimson eyes he could see almost nothing but pain. It was saddening and it never seemed to change; even when she was at her happiest. Her eyes even seemed to be a bit more dull than usual.
Her skin was colder; her eyes seem to have lost some of their luster. What was going on with her?
F: "Marceline, I'm here with you because I want to be. And Maja is still going to find some way to kidnap you and use you for her evil plan again. I'm here to stop her. And all of these attacks on me recently just lead me to believe that Maja or whoever put this" hit" on me is smart enough to know that if they want to get to you… then they'll have to go through me first. And they won't succeed. "
M: "Ok Finn." She said, calming down.
The vampire queen was smiling at this point. Finn was usually awkward when he tried to say something serious but this time he said it perfectly.
Finally the mood was lifted and Marceline didn't feel quite as sad anymore.
F: "So… we should go see if PB can help us out with the whole guild thing." Finn said as he started to get out of bed only to be stopped by Marceline.
M: "You know, Finn… we're alone right now."
F: "Oh glob…" Finn thought as his heart began to race.
He knew what she was thinking.
She began to climb on top of him; something she did often in situations like this.
She was feeling the same rush as every other time before. The euphoria and the intense heat that it created were exhilarating. It seems as though it's been a long time since they had time like this together but it hasn't. Time always seems to go soo much slower when Finn and Marceline aren't together.
F: "What are you thinking Marcy?" He was asking simply just to see what she would say.
M: "Hmmm… I'm thinking it's my turn…" She said in a sexy voice as she began to kiss the hero boy.
They started to make out more intensely. Going faster and faster as they normally did in these situations. They were almost matching their motions with the beating of their hearts.
In the emotionally charged situation that they were in, Finn felt as if he had to say something.
F: "Marceline, don't ever leave." He said sounding somewhat upset.
He had such powerful feelings for Marceline. He couldn't quite figure out a word to explain it yet.
M: "Don't worry, Finn. I don't plan on it." She said with a big smile. She was generally happy knowing that the human boy had the same affection she did but she still couldn't help but feel like there was some sort of empty void inside of her, beckoning to be understood. For the time being she just forced this sentiment back down inside to worry about at another time. For now, she decided to spend what little alone time she had with Finn.
Marceline leaned forward so she could hug Finn. She was still on top of him when they hugged so her ear was right next to Finn's mouth when she was embracing him.
F: "So… where were we?" He whispered in her ear. He was obviously talking about what they were doing only seconds ago.
Finn's hot breath of Marcy's neck sent shivers down her spine.
M: "I believe it was something about it being my turn…" She said in a provocative voice as she lightly brushed her lips against Finn's.
F: "Well… I would hate to be rude…" Finn said then bit Marceline's lower lip to show that he was all for whatever she wanted.
It was game on
