What happened last:
After Marceline and Bubblegum talked about a few things they finally set foot in the Nightosphere. Also, Finn just received a phone call from an old flame…
F: "Yeah man… Flame Princess."
J: "What did she want?"
F:"I'm not really sure. She just said something about a royal dilemma and she would only need one person to help fix it.
J: "So like… is she still called Flame Princess or is she like… Flame Queen or somethin' now?"
F: "I dunno man. I haven't seen her or even talked to her since seeing her in the Fire Kingdom."
J: "Dang bro, it's been a pretty long while."
F: "Yeah… but I suppose I should get going. I don't wanna keep her waiting."
J: "Yeah man. You better be careful. Don't get her too angry. You remember how she is."
F: "Don't won't worry man. I used to date her remember? I know all the right things to say." He said, trying to sound smooth as he got his stuff together before leaving.
J: "And Finn…"
F: "Waddup?"
J: "Don't do anything that might hurt Marceline…"
F: "W-what do you mean, man? I would never try to hurt her..." Finn was caught off guard by Jake's request.
J: "I know buddy. But I've been around the block a few times and stuff just happens sometimes ya know? Like, why does she only want you there? It's just suspicious, bro."
F: "Y-yeah… I thought that was weird too." Finn didn't actually think too much on the fact that Flame Princess only wants to see him and no one else.
J: "And dude, if you do end up wanting Flame Princess after your little conversation, and there's nothing wrong with that, just make sure to let Marceline know before you do anything else. It's only the right thing to do."
F: "O-ok, bro. Will do." He stumbled over his words in response to his brother's serious tone.
J: "Besides that, hurry up and come back man. We got a score to settle in Sumo Scootz!" Jake instantly changed the mood from serious and grave to playful, he was good at that.
F: "Yeah and I'm gonna Win!"
J: "Whatever! You're goin' down, bro!"
F: "We shall see who will reign victorious, my canine brother." Finn said, in a dramatic voice.
J: "We shall." Jake said in an equally dramatic tone.
With that, Finn set off on his hopefully short journey to the Fire Kingdom. He hasn't seen Flame princess in a while so surely she just needs something done for her kingdom. FP probably knows that Finn does favors and tasks for the Candy Kingdom and almost never fails and thinks that he could do the same for her kingdom. That's surely a possibility…
As Finn traversed the grasslands on his way to the Fire Kingdom, he began to take in everything in the environment around him. The way the grass felt as it gently brushed up against his legs while he walked was incredibly calming. The air smelt fresh as the wind softly blew in his direction. The sky was clear that day and the sun was shining its life-giving warmth on everything in sight.
The human boy found himself noticing all of the little things in life and appreciating them more often. He admired the beauty of nature just has he does with Marceline. When Finn was younger and making his way through life, he didn't notice anything like this; especially not with this much detail and grace as he sees now.
Finn the Human was growing up fast and the recent trials that he's dealt with has shown that he was becoming more adept with all of his adventurer skills. He fights with finesse and prowess. His senses are sharp and his perception is unmatched with most other combatants. He possesses all of these great skills and for many of them he has mastered but there's still one big thing that has the ability to bring the adventurer to his knees. It's one of the only things that he still doesn't quite understand entirely and it's very necessary to him. This one thing is neither skill nor talent, but simply a sentiment that possesses more power than the most powerful weapon.
Love
That little four letter word means nothing and everything at the same time. Finn never bothered with understanding it much when he was younger, because he didn't know how to learn about it nor did he care to. He tried with Princess Bubblegum multiple times in his past but there were serious complications in the end that showed that maybe he really never did love her. Maybe he did. He didn't know much about it in his past to know the real truth but for now, he still believes that he fell in love with her years ago.
She was his first love and he would surely never forget that.
Now that Finn is growing up and has some relationship experience under his belt, he has an idea with how relationships work and possibly even what love is. Or at least, he thinks he knows…
..
Finn was just casually walking and thinking about everything that's been going on. In his eyes, his life is great and nothing could go wrong, but even a near-master adventurer can get complacent and a bit naïve sometimes. He still hardly recognizes the Guild of Assassins as a real threat because he knows that Marceline is already working on removing the hit on his head. He trusts her and has confidence in her abilities.
He's come to realize more and more how they are both compatible with each other. They get along soo well and never seem to have any sort of problems. The only thing about Finn's compatibility is that he's pretty much compatible to anyone. He lives to please and help people. It's just how he is as a hero and adventurer.
As intense as his feelings are for Marceline the Vampire Queen, He couldn't help but think of Flame Princess. Everything that the fiery princess did was amazing. Her every move was graceful and seemed to have an amazing amount of finesse. He's even had a longer relationship with Flame Princess so that makes things more difficult.
He's beginning to feel as if though he's torn between two worlds. On one end of the spectrum, he has Marceline; a radical dame that knows how Finn works and they are such great friends. On the other hand, Flame Princess is a passionate girl who was the first love that Finn's been able to feel the same love back from. He loved Bubblegum but the feeling wasn't mutual at the time, but Flame Princess loved and supported Finn through all of his trials and problems.
As Finn continued to walk, he started to feel some sort of uncomfortable pressure building up in his chest. He didn't understand it but he sure didn't like it. As he neared the Fire Kingdom, the atmosphere changed. The air quickly increased in temperature as it turned to a dry heat. He could see the burning red landscape off into the near distance and the pressure in his chest began to intensify.
As he got closer and closer, he started to recognize his surroundings. Everything is still the same since he was last here, at his ex-girlfriend's home. Eventually, he came up to the path that leads to the Fire Kingdom. And just as she said on the phone, she was patiently waiting for Finn to arrive.
Flame princess stood there, looking as beautiful as ever with a smile that made Finn feel happy inside. Oddly enough, she was wearing the same thing that she wore on the day that she and Finn went on their first dungeon crawl together. The short dress that she was wearing looked absolutely stunning. Finn immediately remembered all of the good things about the fiery princess and the pressure in his chest was immediately alleviated upon seeing her.
She's soo passionate. She's soo beautiful. She's soo interesting. She's soo… perfect…
All of these thoughts, racing through Finn's mind, were confusing but one thing was clear; he still loves Flame princess and it didn't take long at all for him to realize it. He couldn't obviously tell her that; it would be wrong to do… wouldn't it?
FP: "Hi, Finn!" She said in a cheerful voice.
F: "Hey, FP. Or is it FQ now?"
FP: "Nah, it's still FP. A lot of people still call me "Flame Queen" or even "Flame King" but I kinda have to be married first."
F: "Oh, cool. So what's up?"
FP: "So, I called you over cause I need you to do something for me."
F: "Ok well, what is it?"
FP: "Follow, me. I'll tell you back at the Kingdom. But let me cast flame shield on you first. I wouldn't want you to burn to death." Although what she said was serious and honest, she still sounded adorable while saying it.
F: "Now, stand still." She said as she said the magic words then lightly brushed her hand against Finn's cheek.
Finn didn't question the princess's motives; he just went along with it. He just figured that she was testing to make sure that the spell worked. Flame Princess casted the flame shield on Finn and the normal blue coat of protection engulfed his body. He had no idea what she needed him to do but it must be something pretty serious. What could possibly be too difficult or dangerous for a fire elemental to make them need the help of a human boy?
F: "Hmmm… I wonder what she needs help with. Maybe it's some water golems or something?" He was trying to think of what she could possibly need.
They finally reached the gates to the kingdom and the guards quickly stepped aside. They didn't even do so much as to give Finn an odd look. They weren't even used to seeing humans or really anyone that wasn't a fire elemental so it seemed a bit odd.
Once they entered the castle, Finn couldn't help but notice that some things were different. The atmosphere held a darker essence. He couldn't really explain it, but he definitely felt as if something was very different; maybe it's not a bad thing but it's surely different.
F: "So… what did you need FP?"
FP: "Hold on, we're not there yet." She sounded as if she was avoiding his question.
She kept leading Finn through some of the corridors in the castle. It's been a while since Finn's been in the castle so he didn't really remember where anything was. He kept following the princess until they came to a staircase. As they climbed the stairs, Finn began to recognize his immediate surroundings.
F: "Hey uh FP… where are we going?"
FP: "We're almost there…"
About five seconds after FP finished her sentence they arrived at the princess's room.
FP: "We're here!" She said, sounding happy.
F: "Oh cool… why are we in your room?"
FP: "I just wanted to talk to you about a few things…" She said, as she gracefully moved across the floor to her bed and sat down. The way she moved made it look like she was floating.
F: "I thought you said you needed something not that you just wanted to talk?"
FP: "Well… I do need something, that's what I wanted to talk about."
F: "Then, what is it?"
FP: "C'mere, sit down." She motioned for Finn to sit next to her by patting on the bed.
He was only slightly reluctant to get closer to the fiery princess but he still did it without question. He knew her in a romantic way for such a long time so he was just doing what his body felt was natural.
F: "What is it FP?" He said as his face began to feel hot. Being this close to her beautiful face is more electrifying every time he gets the chance to do it.
For a brief moment, Flame princess was the only one on Finn's mind. He often lost himself in her beauty and had a hard time remembering to stop daydreaming. Luckily, this wasn't one of those moments. His heart beat in his chest with an intense thumping. Finn stayed sad for soo long after his and FP's breakup. It was always more painful to know that it was all his fault; he hurt her and he's never forgiven himself.
The princess didn't say anything; she just remained silent.
FP: "Remember, be mysterious..." She thought to herself.
Back to Bubblegum and Marceline
Once Marceline shut the portal, the two girls were in the Nightosphere. The vampire queen was able to get the portal to bring them to her old room. She didn't really sleep in it or use it anymore; she mainly uses it for storage when she has too much stuff in her house back in Ooo.
The two girls remained silent for the first few minutes of being in the Nightosphere. It's as if they were both reminiscing about the old days, and the times when Bonnie came over to visit.
Bonnibel looked around the room while Marceline was busy mentally preparing herself to confront her father with the princess at her side. She had no idea why she was feeling nervous, but she always felt this way with Bonnie around her father. Marceline thinks that he somehow knows about her and the princess but how could he? She would have no reason for thinking this, she's just paranoid sometimes.
M: "I guess we better get this over with." She thought to herself.
