What happened last:
After LSP came by and gossiped about Finn to Marceline and Princess Bubblegum a few problems were created. Also, Finn and PB went on quite the emotional roller coaster and now the princess's broken heart makes another appearance. Marceline is now the only thing on Finn's mind; he has to explain everything to her hoping that she'll believe him.
Finn was headed for Iceberg Lake where Marceline should be. His heart was aching from everything he just experienced. Everything happened in an instant, he had no time to think about what was going on; he just had to accept it and try to cope with it.
It was already nightfall by the time he left. His sleep schedule is soo messed up he hasn't seen much of the sun recently but that didn't bother him. It was for Marceline.
As he traveled, the air began to get colder and Finn could feel the change in humidity. The climate in Ooo was odd and didn't make much sense but it's just how things were.
Finn was getting closer and his heart was aching more with each passing second.
At Iceberg Lake
M: "Stupid… why did I ever trust him?" She was talking to herself out of anger. She was forcing her words through her tears.
The vampire queen was sitting on the beach by herself, staring out into the massive body of water. This place was always something that could calm her at least temporarily, but not this time. Her heart has been broken too many times and the wounds may never heal.
She had the black rose in her hand, the floral symbol of the way two lost souls became intertwined by dumb luck. She was squeezing the stem of it and the thorns were cutting into her hand. She ignored the fact that her hand began to bleed from the cuts from the thorns.
M: "He lied to me... And I believed him…"
The blood was slowly running down the stem of the rose and a few drops fell to the ground and mixed in with the sand. She was only getting more and more angry so she clenched her fist even harder. The sharp pain in her hand obviously hurt her but she still didn't care.
Why should she care? Nobody seemed to ever care about her. Or so she thought…
She was too blind and depressed to see that almost everyone she's ever known or met absolutely loves her. She just thinks that the lies of the few outweigh the truths of the many. She has all these memories and she keeps the bad but as for the good, she just forgets. After all, it's the only thing that's kept her sane throughout her existence.
M: "Stupid Rose…" She angrily said and was about to throw it into the lake but she couldn't. She still had feelings for Finn and didn't want to forget about him too quickly. But that didn't mean that she was going to forgive him for trying to get back together with Flame Princess. She just turned and threw the rose behind her. It landed somewhere on the beach but she didn't know where, and she didn't care.
She thinks that Finn wants Flame Princess but she couldn't be more wrong.
After she threw the rose, her anger quickly dissipated. She immediately broke down and began to cry. The tears were pouring down her face. She was heartbroken and she honestly couldn't think of anyone in the world that she could trust. Her sadness was blocking all thoughts of other people that she trusted but that's what always happens. She just shuts herself away from the world. Her will to live was fleeting just like long lost friends from her childhood. She couldn't remember names or faces; it was all a blur now. She couldn't even really remember anything about them; just the fact that all her friends and idols from her childhood have all passed away, disappeared or have gone insane.
M: "Why does this always happen to me? Am I really that hard to be with?" She was having a hard time talking through her tears but she managed.
M: "Stupid Finn… stupid jerk… he's such a liar!" She wasn't calming down at all. She was just crying harder and harder.
Finn, after running as fast as he could, arrived at the beach. The first thing he saw was Marceline sitting down on the shore, staring off into nothing. He took a few steps, and he could easily see the black rose lying on the sand in front of him. The white sand made it easy to spot and he walked over and picked it up. The moon was illuminating Ooo just enough to allow Finn to see well.
He noticed that it felt wet and looked at his hand to see dark red blood on his hand.
F: "What the…?" He thought to himself.
He slowly walked up to the vampire queen and he could hear her crying her eyes out. He was a bit afraid to speak up and talk to her because he didn't know how she might react but he knew that he had to.
He took a deep breath in slowly and let it out, trying his best to remain silent. He wanted his words to be the first think to break the depressing silence.
F: "Marceline?"
She stopped crying for a second upon hearing his voice. It was very unsettling for Finn to hear her suddenly get quiet but he stood his ground.
M: "What do you want? Haven't you done enough?" She was surprisingly calm but it was still obvious that she was still crying.
F: "M-Marceline, are you ok? Why is there blood on this rose?"
M: "What's wrong with me Finn?" She ignored his question.
F: "N-nothing, Marcy. Why would you think something's wrong with you?"
M: "Because you went to go see Flame Princess so you could win her back. Yeah, I know about that." She was still sounding calm.
F: "What? No, Marcy. I went because she said she needed something but it turned out to be nothing."
The anger in Marceline's heart instantly clicked and she was instantly full of rage. She stood up and turned around and glared at him with fury in her eyes.
M: "Stop lying to me!" She screamed at him.
F: "I-I'm not, Marcy! I promise." He wasn't yelling at her in anger, he just tried to get her to believe him.
M: "I can't believe I trusted you Finn! I thought that I lo…" She choked on her words and couldn't finish her sentence. Her cheeks began to blush slightly from the frustration.
F: "I didn't go just because I wanted to. She told me that it was important and she didn't say anything else about it." He was trying to explain the odd situation but it wasn't sounding very believable.
Marceline wanted to trust Finn with every fiber of her being, but it was hard. It wouldn't be a shock to hear that he wasn't faithful to her. It was almost routine to the vampire queen at this point.
F: "Listen Marceline, she called me while you were gone. She said something was urgent so I went to go help out with whatever it was. It turned out that she just wanted me back so I left. Nothing happened."
M: "That sounds like a lot of bull donk, Finn. Why should I believe you?" She still didn't believe him.
Finn took a deep breath and knew what he wanted to say. He looked into the broken vampire's eyes and everything was confirmed. All his emotions, thoughts and feelings were all starting to make sense. He saw the deep crimson glow in her eyes and knew that this girl was something special. He always knew it but he never really knew it until now. The stress from the ups and down in life was the only thing that could ever have helped him understand himself and get the chance to be with this radical dame.
F: "Because Marceline… I think I… love you."
Marceline's tears stopped and her negative emotions ceased to affect her. Her mind went blank and she felt… happy. Her heart skipped a few beats and she lost her breath for a second.
F: "I never want to hurt you, Marceline. And I don't want anybody else but you. Please believe me…"
M: "Finn I…"
He walked up to the vampire queen and hugged her. He didn't think that she would attack him or anything. She didn't seem angry anymore.
M: "Finn… do you really mean that?"
F: "Yes, Marcy. I really do." He said as he hugged her tightly.
M: "Well, I think I… love you too, Finn." She said as she pulled back to see Finn's face and she smiled.
The feeling of knowing that Finn really is as great as she always thought he was made everything better. A few minutes ago she lost hope in everything and was losing her will to live, but now Finn fixed her broken heart and she can breathe again.
Telling Marceline that he loved her just felt right. It felt as if it's been long overdue, but not only by a few days or weeks but by years. He feels as if he's loved her all this time but he couldn't see it until they started seeing each other as a couple.
They just hugged in the calming silence for a few minutes enjoying the moment to the fullest. Finn's face was buried in the vampire queen's shoulder and he could smell her enchanting aroma. They would stay like this forever if they could.
Suddenly, something in Finn's backpack started to ring. It was Bubblegum's holo-pendant. What could she possibly want?
Finn pulled it out and he and Marceline looked at the screen as the princess's image appeared as a hologram.
PB: "Hey Finn, Jake told me to send you this, hope it helps." She said and her image quickly disappeared before Finn could say anything. It was confusing because Finn had no idea what the princess was talking about.
F: "What was that about?"
M: "Why are you asking me? She called you not me, silly."
Then her bird, Morrow, came and dropped something using a parachute. It was hard to tell, but it looked like it was a guitar or something.
M: "Is that a guitar? Why would Jake send that?" She said as she picked it up. She placed her hands over a few strings and played a chord. The instrument sounded perfect.
F: "Beats me." Finn wasn't sure why Jake sent it but he still started to feel nervous. He's tried to play guitar in the past and he's only tried a little bit recently. And that's when his mind clicked…
F: "Does Jake know about that thing?" He was thinking about the very unfinished song that he was writing about Marceline. He didn't always have free time alone but when he did, he used it wisely.
M: "Oh look there's a note on it." She picked up the paper and began to read the oddly neat handwriting.
M: "Here you go, bro. Serenade your lady. I'm rootin' for you man! Love, Jake." Aww that's sweet." She read the note then blushed.
F: "S-serenade? I-I don't know any songs…" He was soo nervous that he was accidentally lying.
M: "Are you sure? Jake seems to think that you do." She said as she waved the note around.
F: "Well… I know like… one thing. I was actually writing something but it's not-"
M: "Oh really? That's awesome, Finn! You should sing it." She was actually excited to hear that Finn wrote his own song.
F: "It's not like it's very good. I never really finished it…" He was nervously trying to find a way out of this situation but he was quickly learning that it was no use.
M: "That's ok, Finny. I'll help you." She said with a big smile on her face.
Finn didn't know how she would help and it was unsettling how eager she was to hear him sing. He doesn't mind singing at all and he doesn't mind who hears but now it's different when he's singing to someone who holds his heart.
F: "O-ok Marcy…" He said as he took the guitar from the vampire queen.
It made it more nerve wracking to him because he knows that she's really good at almost all musical instruments and he's only starting out. He didn't feel like he was any good but he was good enough for Marceline.
Finn was already blushing painfully hard before he even started singing. As he started playing, Marceline was becoming mesmerized by Finn. How could she have ever found someone as perfect for her as him?
Hey everyone, it's Song Time again! It's on YouTube like last time. Just look up "FanFiction: A Song for Marceline" (if you want to). Maybe you can guess the melody? :p (the link is on my profile if you don't just want to copy/paste the name)
F: "You're a part time lover and a full time friend.
We've had a lot of problems but it worked out in the end.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
Marceline quickly picked up on the tune and made up her own words as she went. It's one of the things she's really good at.
M: "The times have changed, and it may seem strange.
After I met you my heart's not left out in the rain.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
The vampire queen began smiling uncontrollably from just hearing her and Finn sing together.
F: "Your eyes are red and thoughts of you fill my head.
I think it's kinda cool that you are undead.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
Finn's flushed cheeks starting to go away once he realized that he wasn't as bad as he thought.
M: "You're a bit crazy and sometimes silly.
But all I care for is if you love me.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
Finn's blushing returned but it's not from being nervous or embarrassed, but from the mutual love he and Marceline were feeling.
F: "Sometimes I'm paralyzed by your beauty.
And I think that you really get me.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
M: "You took the pieces of my heart and put them back together.
And I couldn't be happier that we're together.
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
F: "You're one of my best friends in the world.
And who woulda thought I'd be dating this girl?
I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you."
These two souls have never been soo intertwined as they are at this moment. They no longer feel like lost souls but ones that have finally found a home in each other.
Maybe life is giving them a break for once?
Maybe…
