What happened last:
Finn and Marceline finally got the time they wanted to be alone and Marceline explained some very important things to Finn. After the confusion was cleared up, they both shared a very important experience together; intertwining their lives together even more than ever.
Finn woke up the next morning dazed and confused. Everything was blurry and everything excessively bright as if his pupils were dilated. His head hurt and his throat was dry..
For everyone else, they had slight hangovers. But that wasn't the case for Finn. He was in a completely different situation. Being young as he is, the alcohol didn't really affect him like everyone else. He was just fine… for the most part.
Finn sat up and rubbed his eyes. As they focused all he could see was the color red and fire everywhere. Was the Candy Kingdom on fire?
?: "Good morning, Finn!" A very happy voice said. His hearing was even a bit muffled but he was quickly regaining his senses.
F: "H-huh? What's going on?" He tried to stand up, realizing that his legs were weak.
?: "…brought you here but I guess they were a little rough. Sorry about that." A female said. Finn didn't quite hear the whole sentence but he recognized the voice.
F: "F-Flame Princess?"
FP: "Duh! You just now realized that? I guess that sleeping gas was too powerful or something."
F: "Sleeping gas? What are you talking about?"
FP: "Hmmm… I guess I'll just repeat myself. So… I had a few of my guards bring you here so I could talk about our future together. I figured that since you were taking soo long after you left last time that I'd just come to you instead. Or… bring you here."
F: "What? That's crazy, Flame Princess. That's not how any of this works!" He was starting to feel upset. He realized that he was in the large glass lantern that she was trapped in during her childhood. It was resting on the ground instead of hanging in the air, suspended by a chain.
He thought to himself that he had to be dreaming. There's no way that Flame Princess would kidnap him like this. She couldn't finally be turning truly evil… could she?
He looked around and observed his surroundings. He noticed that he obviously had a flame shield covering his body and his shirt was on backwards. That's how he knew that someone had to have taken him and it wasn't a dream. He would never intentionally put his shirt on backwards.
He had to get out of there.
He didn't know the first thing he should do to escape. He was brainstorming and only thought of a few possibilities. He couldn't possibly break the glass to this lantern and even if he did, then what? The guards would come seize him and he would be back to square one. There had to be some way for him to escape. But what could it be?
He sat on the ground with his legs crossed so he could think. Flame princess didn't even respond to what he said. She was possibly becoming truly evil and didn't really care what he had to say. She just observed him as he walked around the lantern like a rat in a cage until he sat down. Finn ignored the Princess's existence as he looked around until she said something.
FP: "So, Finn… have you thought about my offer for you to be my king?"
His eyes shot over to her and he gave her a look of contempt. His blood began to boil and his face started to feel hot from anger. He wanted to lash out and yell at her for acting crazy like this but he knew that doing so would never help anything… especially in his current situation.
F: "I-I'm still thinking…" He tried to pretend to be on the fence about her question. He didn't know how she would react so he played it safe. But one thing was for sure, he wants Marceline. Flame princess was beautiful and fun to be around but as time passed she changed for the worse. As she matured, Finn realized that maybe they were only compatible while they were young, and maybe they grew out of each other. He would have had a hard time accepting that as a fact in the past but he's older now and sees that they were only going to hold each other down in the long run.
Finn loved Flame Princess with as much emotional understanding that his heard had back when they were together. And that's the key word that Finn tries to force himself to remember even though it's hard.
Loved.
He loved her and that's in the past now. Right now, he loves Marceline. And that's all that matters.
FP: "Hmmm… Well, I think I know how to change your mind." She said with a wink as she turned around and started to leave the room.
FP: "Guards, make sure he doesn't try to escape!" She said commandingly and left the room.
The flame guards walked up to the lantern with their flame staves in hand, trying to look mean and tough.
F: "I guess there's no chance of you guys letting me outta here, is there?"
They didn't respond. One of them just gave Finn an angry look then continued doing what he was doing.
Finn sighed and put his face on his palms because he couldn't think of any way to get out of here. When he did that, he noticed a pink pulsing light coming from his pocket. He pulled out whatever it was and to his shock it was the holo-pendant.
It pulsed with a pink light whenever there was a video message sent to it that hadn't been watched yet. His heart sunk when he saw the pendant. He had no idea what the message could be but he was almost certain that it was something bad.
He started the video and what he saw made everything more serious than he could have ever imagined.
It was a message from Princess Bubblegum. The video had a lot of static and was hard to understand from all of the background noise.
PB: "Finn! You have to- (static) full on assault! Get back here now!" She was yelling frantically in the video. Her face looked dirty as if she was in some sort of fight.
And that's exactly what it was. Except it wasn't just a fight. It was a full-scale assault against the Candy Kingdom. Normally, Princess Bubblegum would have sufficient means and forces to defend against any attack; either by using her own citizens and Banana Guard or by other kingdoms offering their assistance.
But this time, it was different. There was no living army big enough to take on the enemies attacking the Candy Kingdom.
Because it was a massive army of the undead.
Finn didn't have much information at the time nor did he even know what was attacking the Candy Kingdom, but he had to get back as soon as he possibly could. After the short video ended, he came back to his reality and current situation. He was trapped in Flame Princess's lantern after she kidnapped him.
He pinched himself a few times to make sure that he was actually awake because he could still hardly believe that this really happened. And to his upsetting realization, he was actually awake this time. His reality went from an unbelievable dream to a living nightmare.
So now he waited for a few more moments, patiently waiting for the princess to return. He continued to think of any possible way to escape to no avail. He was out of his element and he had no resources at his disposal.
He sat on the ground, letting his mind wander a bit as he realized that he may finally fail everything that means the most to him.
The good people of Ooo
The Candy Kingdom
…Princess Bubblegum…
And all of this failure is because of Flame Princess.
Anger started to build up inside Finn. She just had to be the way she is. She just couldn't understand that he's with someone else now. She just had to act crazier than usual now, when the Candy Kingdom is in peril.
F: "What does she have to be soo crazy sometimes?! Why?!" He shouted the words in his head; knowing that the guards might do something if he said it out loud.
As the anger and almost hatred was building up inside Finn, he almost answered his questions in his own mind. He knew why she is the way she is. She didn't have a childhood. She didn't have a life before Finn. And her first experience with a real life and people who "cared" didn't go so well.
She just ended up insulted and made fun of because of very personal things about her were "weird". He didn't even need to say anything, the storm in his mind was subsiding and he began to empathize with Flame Princess how he always did. He never believed that she was evil by nature. Everyone has the choice to act how they want. What is fate to tell anyone how they should be?
She's ignorant but she's deprived.
She's crazy but she's innocent.
She's hateful but she's been betrayed.
She's not evil. She's passionate.
He was in the middle of his sympathetic mental episode when Flame Princess walked back in. She was carrying something in her hands. It appeared to be clothing but Finn couldn't tell, because if it was, it wouldn't cover up much…
FP: "Ok, Finn… so what's it gonna be?" She said as she placed on of her hands on her hip in a provocative way.
Finn swallowed hard and realized that there weren't many ways out of this situation, but there was one that he knew would work…
Back at the Candy Kingdom
The morning after the sleepover, Marceline found herself lying on the floor next to the bed in an awkward position. What she didn't know is that the guards that were sent to kidnap Finn used sleeping gas while her and Finn were still asleep to keep them in an almost comatose-like state until Finn was already long gone. So she just woke up drowsy and with a slight headache as she would have expected anyway.
But she didn't think anything bad about Finn not being there in the morning. The bed was messy so she thought that she just fell off at some point in time during the night; probably sometime shortly after their alone time. She just figured that he was out doing something important or something with his brother. She didn't know, she just trusted him and didn't think he was doing anything bad.
Marceline picked herself up off the floor and got dressed in very loose and comfortable clothing. She put on some shorts and her long light-blue collared shirt. Her hair was messy from the prior night for obvious reasons and she didn't feel the need to fix it. She wanted to let the feeling linger; knowing what happened last night and that she finally found someone that she trusts as much as Finn.
Her heart was in a state of pure bliss and nothing could bring her down… or so she thought…
Marceline went to go to find Bonnie doing her morning routine by drinking some tea or coffee at the small table in the kitchen. And she was there of course; talking to Beemo.
PB: "Oh hey, Marcy! Good morning!" She joyfully said as she saw the vampire queen float into the room.
Marceline stopped floating and walked over to the tea kettle on the stove after noticing that the coffee kettle wasn't on. PB drinking tea over coffee in the morning was usually a good sign that she was in a good mood.
M: "Oh! Good morning Bonnie, and Beemo." She said happily as she poured herself a cup of tea, walked over to the table and sat down.
Marceline just sat and smiled as she drank her tea. She didn't notice it but she hasn't looked this happy in years. Princess Bubblegum noticed her change in normal attitude very quickly.
PB: "Well, well, well. Someone looks happy today." She leaned over and winked at Marceline.
M: "Huh?! W-what do you mean? The tea's just really good." It was obvious that she was lying through her teeth.
Bubblegum whispered for Beemo to go into sleep mode so the two girls could have a conversation just between the two of them.
A classical scare tactic by the princess.
Marceline immediately thought that Bubblegum knew about what she and Finn did last night. She had no idea how she would know so she decided to keep playing dumb.
PB: "Oh really? So, Finn didn't mess up your hair like that last night? You don't have to hide it from me. It's ok, girl." She was pretending like the most seasoned and talented actress. Bubblegum had every technique and nuance down to an art form when it came to acting or pretending.
M: "Awww c'mon! How did you even know about that?! Did Finn tell you or something?" She blurted out everything that Bubblegum needed to hear to know what really happened..
PB: "Nope. He hasn't said a word." She smiled smugly, crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat, knowing that she just found out what she wanted to know by simple mind tricks.
M: "Well then how did you…?"
PB: "You just told me." She looked the vampire queen in the eyes with a content look on her face.
Marceline just looked at the princess for a second; taking in the fact that Bonnie just tricked her.
M: "Oh, you suck."
There was an odd moment of silence as the two girls tried to analyze the mood of the conversation until they both smiled at the same time. They may have their differences but they still connect and get along pretty well on most days.
The two girls giggled for a few seconds about the subject until Bonnibel said something.
PB: "So…"
M: "So…?"
PB: "You know… how was it?" Her cheeks began to blush. She loved drama and every juicy detail about everything
Marceline was almost shocked by how straight forward PB was. The vampire queen was still even a bit sensitive to the details between her and Finn but she knew that she could tell her best friend. It might feel a bit weird, but it wouldn't be bad.
M: "Well you know… It was…" She said nervously, fidgeting with random things on the table as she tried to force the words out of her mouth.
She grabbed the tape that Beemo seemed to have been quite fond of since last night when he said something about it during the sleepover.
M: "We were both just like… playing around and things just got…" Her voice trailed off as if she ran out of breath.
While fidgeting with the tape to keep her hands busy because she was nervous, she she noticed something odd where the label usually was. There wasn't a single word written on it; there was just an object taped to it.
PB: "Dang, you can't even explain it? That must have been pretty...awesome…" Her dirty mind started to wander a bit.
M: "N-no… PB." She looked up at the princess with sheer terror in her eyes.
PB: "What?" She instantly became serious.
Marceline pulled the object from the tape and held it up.
It was an onyx black feather.
PB: "W-what? It's just a-" She was trying to act as if it wasn't an omen that brought a foreboding sense of impending doom.
The princess stopped speaking when Marceline dropped the feather and it disintegrated on the table as if it caught on fire.
Now they were both certain that it was a threat of some sort because this feather obviously came from Crabbit.
Marceline stared at the spot where the feather disappeared, eyes wide and full of fear.
PB: "Oh m-my glob…" She covered her mouth in shock.
M: "We need to watch this tape…"
The girls knew what the sky witch was capable of and what her master plan way. And they were more terrified by the fact that they didn't have an earlier warning about this type of stuff. They have been caught up in their own business and other things for soo long and they forgot about Maja. And they fear that it will cost them dearly.
PB: "Beemo." She said sternly as the small robot came off of sleep mode.
M: "Beemo, we need to watch this tape." She said hastily as she presented the tape to Beemo.
BMO: "Ok!"
Beemo happily took the tape from Marceline and put it in his built-in VCR.
The video began with a bit of static then footage of Maja standing on a balcony or something was displayed. It wasn't very easy to tell where she was exactly because the quality of the video was poor.
Then, the screen panned over to a massive congregation of demons, skeletons and other undead beings. It was a terrifyingly large army and it was obviously led by Maja. It didn't look lie an organized or disciplined army but it was a serious threat because of the sheer numbers. The video turned back to Maja's face and she began to speak.
Maja: "Hello, Princess Bubblegum. You're probably wondering why you're getting this tape or maybe why I'm even sending you one in the first place. Well you know what? After you ever-so-kindly let me free the last time we met, I thought that I'd return the favor." She was being very sarcastic; something she loved to be.
Maja: "And that favor… is a warning; and an early warning at that." She sounded as if she was done with talking in the video.
PB: "A warning for what…?" She whispered to herself. She had an idea what the warning could be about but she didn't want to be too sure. It was too terrifying to imagine…
It this tape truly contained a warning then there is a chance that it's too late. Beemo had the tape at least since last night and they're just now watching it...
Maja: "A warning for what, you ask?" She said, expecting that at least someone who watched it would ask the question.
Maja: "Oh silly me! It's just this little thing. No big deal really…" She said, sounding innocent; trying to build up everyone's anxiety.
She instantly got completely serious and glared into the camera.
..
Maja: "I'm declaring war against the Candy Kingdom. You have approximately 24 hours to prepare."
