What happened last:
The war was well underway and lasted long into the night. It was full of loss, pain and it took its toll on many warriors from the Candy Kingdom's side but it seemed to be possible to win due to the enemies' lack of combat experience. Later on, Marceline was found in one of the rooms in the Candy Kingdom bleeding and fading away, only to be saved by Finn due to drastic measures. Now, Ash showed up and wants to fix everything with Marceline yet… something seems fishy…
F: "Marcy, NO!" Finn screamed at her.
He was sprinting at her because something was seriously wrong.
F: "He's trying to-!" He was interrupted by getting knocked out by a skeleton.
There was a moment of horrifying blackness for a few moments when Finn lost his consciousness. It was bizarre to him because he could actually control everything in his unconscious state as if it were a lucid dream. He thought that he could control everything but it all seemed to fall apart right before his very eyes…
All he could see was the Candy Kingdom on fire. The cotton candy forest had been burned to the ground and the entirety of the candy people were turned to ash. The visions in his mind were nothing but images from the most horrible nightmare that he could ever imagine. All his friends were dying by a massive army of the undead but Finn couldn't seem to run fast enough to save any of them. They seemed to be only inches away but he could never get any closer.
His world was falling apart in these terrible and false visions but he could do nothing to stop it. They were all dying… Jake, Bubblegum, Flame Princess, Lady Rainicorn… everyone. Everyone but Marceline. He could see her and she wasn't dying. She was just suffering eternally. Her heart had been shattered and he could do nothing about it. He was screaming at her, trying to let her know that he was there to help her, trying to let her know that it will all be ok, but she couldn't hear him because no sound came from his mouth.
It was like some sort of impenetrable mental barrier that was preventing him from communicating with her. He tried and tried for what seemed like forever in his mind but it really lasted only seconds. He fought against these odd barriers with all his might. He roared at her and tried his best to get close enough to at least place his hand on her but he just couldn't.
It seemed completely hopeless to him until he actually felt like it was hopeless. Once he gave in to defeat he snapped awake and his consciousness returned. The only explanation for this painfully frustrating and bizarre occurrence could only be explained with the dark magic that was shrouding everything.
It left only one message in Finn's mind. Accept defeat and he will never again taste defeat. It could seem like a good thing to most people but all it meant is that if someone gave up their humanity or pride for something, then they could live without problems for the rest of their lives.
They could live as a lifeless and empty husk of a person and never amount to anything. And that enraged him. He always believed that everyone should be given every opportunity in life and they should be able to make their own decisions as they see fit. And an offering to succumb to frailty and apathy was something that was derived from evil and only took away those opportunities.
Once the hero regained consciousness, his eyes shot open like the Jaws of Life and he jumped to his feet quickly. His heart was pumping with ferocity and rage was flowing through his veins. Ash was a threat and must be destroyed… or at the least, locked away forever.
Finn noticed that he was only unconscious for a few seconds and that the skeleton that hit him was still right next to him; gloating about how it just took down Finn all by itself.
Finn turned around to face it and easily delivered a punch strong enough to go straight through the skull of his unaware enemy and it fell straight through the ground. The skeleton's skull shattered like a ceramic pot and the pieces littered the ground and added to the body count for the Candy Kingdom's forces.
The punch happened soo fast that neither Ash nor Marceline noticed. Finn followed up the skeleton kill with a devastating kick right to Ash's face. Finn was ab;e to hit Ash right on the cheek.
Ash flew backward and slammed into the ground. The attempt to pull Marceline into a powerful trance failed because Finn broke the link between them and she went back to normal instantly.
Ash: "Ow! What the heck are you doin', man?" He said, trying to sound innocent. He was rubbing his face which had the pattern of the underside of Finn's shoe.
F: "What am I doing? What are you doing?" He knew what Ash was doing; he just wanted Marceline to hear it from his mouth.
The vampire queen was a bit dazed for a second but she quickly recovered from the slight trance and listened to what Finn and Ash were arguing about.
Ash: "I'm trying to… s-save Marceline and take her back!" He stuttered, making it seem obvious that he was lying about something. He was using magic to manipulate her mind.
F: "Yeah right, you donkus! You're just trying to trick her!"
Ash: "What?! Why would I do that? I l-lov… oh who am I kidding…? I don't really care about her. Maja's paying me to do this." He revealed his obvious plan.
F: "See?! I knew it! Now I'm gonna-"
Ash interrupted Finn with sending a lightning bolt into his chest; sending him flying backwards into the crowd of the undead.
M: "Ash, you jerk!" She got up and stomped towards him. She reared her fist back to punch him but he caught her fist while it was in forward motion.
Ash: "Na uh uh. Not this time, Marcy." He said, waving his finger in her face. He tightened his grip around her fist to intentionally cause her pain, cracking her knuckles in the process.
He threw her hand out of the way violently then slapped her in the face hard enough to knock her backwards. Her head jerked to the side and she stumbled backwards from the dizzying hit.
As she recoiled from the hit, her mind had a hard time processing what just happened.
Ash was seriously stupid enough to do that…
The enraged vampire queen turned back towards Ash with her eyes burning with rage. Her face quickly turned to its demon form and she was preparing to crush Ash in the most literal way possible.
She would have actually done it had the enemies around her not attacked at that moment. Ash knew that he would have been killed only a few seconds after striking the vampire queen so he motioned for the undead to attack. They immediately swarmed her from all directions but the anger in her heart was enough to fight them off.
It only took her a few seconds to destroy the undead within close proximity of her, but Ash was already gone.
M: "That coward!" She hissed.
F: "Marcy!" Finn said frantically as he lunged from the large crown of the undead, still smoking from being struck by a lightning bolt.
F: "Are you ok?" He said as he caressed the red hand shaped mark on her face.
M: "Me? You just got hit by a bolt of lightning. Are you ok?"
F: "Yeah, it's no big deal." It actually hurt Finn quite badly but he recovered relatively quickly.
M: "Ok… And yeah… I'm fine. Just angry…"
F: "Ok then, let's go get Maja." He wasn't mad about Ash hitting Marceline because he didn't see it happen. But if he found out... Ash would be in for a world of hurt, and not just by Finn.
M: "No, you get her. I got a bone to pick with Ash." She said with a hint of anger driven evil in her voice.
Finn nodded and they both went back to slaughtering their enemies, this time with more ferocity and anger than before. This has taken long enough and everyone was fed up with fighting.
The death…the agony… the anguish…
It's been hours since the fighting began and the Candy Kingdom has made some good progress as far as winning the war. There weren't too many casualties on their side and if someone did get hurt then it was usually nothing too serious; just a few cuts here and some scrapes there.
Finn and Marceline were making their own paths with the corpses of their enemies as they moved towards their objective. They were far ahead of the front lines in the candy kingdom but that didn't matter. They wanted to put an end to this as soon as possible so they basically decided to throw caution to the wind and try to end all of this as fast as possible.
The rain that was slowly falling from the sky eventually stopped and subsided for some time. The large cloud overhead seemed to remain still until Finn and Marceline went their separate ways to destroy the two main antagonists.
Suddenly the cloud let out a few deafening cracks of lightning followed by thunder and rain started to pour once again. This time the rain was coming down hard on the battlefield.
Naturally, Finn began to think how awesome all of this was. He was fighting a war, he was tearing his way through numerous enemies and it was raining cats and dogs. All of it was perfect except for the fact that it was all very serious and everyone's lives depended on his success.
Once the rain began to fall, Finn and Marceline lost sight of both of their targets. They seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye.
Maja: "They think they can beat us don't they?"
Ash: "Yeah. And that makes them pretty dumb."
Maja: "It's adorable how they think that they stand a chance." She said smugly.
Ash: "Yeah. But uh… I hate to sound like I'm complimenting him or something but… that Finn dude is killing a lot of our army."
Maja held her tongue for a second. She wanted to lash out at Ash for thinking that it was their army when in fact it was just her army; but she didn't… She needed his confidence and trust for as long as she could keep it…
The most pitiful thing about Ash is the fact that Maja never really told him what she needed him for. He knows nothing of her plans, intentions or even really who she is. He is willing to betray everyone just for a few couple bucks.
Maja: "Is that so…?" She said as she scanned the battlefield and saw two different people tearing through her army at an insane speed. She had a most evil smile on her face.
Maja: "Hey, you."
Ash: "Hey, I have a na-" He was getting tired of her disregard for saying his actual name.
Maja: "Be quiet. Go show yourself. I need a distraction." She interrupted him with another command.
Ash: "Ummm… a distraction for what?" He asked with an attitude.
Maja just looked at Ash with an angry look on her face. He quickly walked away to follow her orders without saying anything else. It wasn't completely obvious what she needed the distraction for; Ash just guessed and made himself visible and seemingly vulnerable.
Maja: "…Idiot." She said under her breath.
Finn and Marceline were a force to be reckoned with. They were both upset enough to destroy their enemies with greater speed than most could believe. If anyone wanted to test their abilities with fighting then now would be a good time to see how they could prove it. They were the masters of their craft and the lives of whoever they fought.
F: "Marcy! We're getting close! I think Maja is nearby!" Finn yelled, thinking that they had fought enough to get close to Maja and possibly destroy her.
M: "Yeah, I think so too! Don't stop now!" She yelled back at him as she punched a skeleton in the face and turned its bones to dust.
Finn and Marceline couldn't actually see Maja or Ash but they had been fighting long enough to think that they were getting close to them. They both remained in a certain spot for most of the battle without moving so Finn and Marceline thought that they were still in the same place.
And that thought could never have been soo wrong…
Maja: "I'm getting sick of this…" She said in a very irritated tone.
Marcy and Finn were still destroying the undead with dizzying speed and Maja did nothing but watch. Until now…
Eventually, Finn and Marceline fought enough to get within the proximity of Maja and Ash. Finn was much closer than Marceline so he had to do the talking until she caught up.
F: "Maja!" He yelled in anger.
Maja: "Yes?! What? I don't have time for this. What do you want?" She sounded very rude and apathetic.
F: "I… uh… I'm gonna destroy you!" He roared with confidence. His voice powerfully echoed throughout the battlefield. He had his sword pointed straight at her.
Maja: "That's cute…. How are you gonna do that?" She crossed her arms conceitedly with a smug grin on her face.
F: "I'm gonna… punch you!" Finn screamed as he started to run towards the sky witch. He didn't know why he chose to punch her instead of using his sword; he just wanted to get up close and personal.
Maja: "Heh…" That's all she said before she attacked.
Maja the Sky Witch knew that she could have attacked Finn with great power this whole time. She didn't attack him because she wanted to test his abilities; and because she wanted to see if he got injured before ultimately confronting her.
In that moment, the air froze completely along with the rain… It was as if the sky witch was drawing power from the sky. She was draining the very essence of the troposphere. Maja launched a very powerful bolt of green lightning from her fingertips and it traveled as fast as light through Finn's chest. He was in the middle of attacking an enemy nearby at that time which only lasted a split second so it caught him off-guard.
The powerful flash of plasma and pure energy hit him with more force than his body could possibly ever handle. He was thrust backwards with intense speed from the devastating blast from the shock. He was hit by Ash earlier with a similar attack but his magic was child's play compared to Maja's. She had centuries upon centuries of experience and over a millennium of training. If there was only one thing in the universe that could ever take down the human boy and defender of Ooo then was Maja.
The lightning bolt created a massive shockwave around the impact area and the force pushed everything within its proximity a few yards away. Once it hit the rain went back to pouring but the fighting stopped.
Everyone, Candy People, goblins, the Ice King, lemon people and demons alike, stopped to witness what just happened. It was as if nobody cared about fighting after Finn got hit. It was shocking (literally) and everyone stopped and stared to watch the drama unfold. The only sad part about this drama was the fact that…
It had already ended.
After Finn took that devastating hit to the chest, a random horn was blown from somewhere within the ranks of Maja's army and the demons and monsters stopped attacking then began to slowly retreat. The fighting stopped almost immediately after Finn was hit so nobody had any time to process what just happened.
M: "FINN!" Marceline screamed at the top of her lungs. She immediately darted towards him, smashing into anyone or anything that got in her way.
PB: "Oh my glob…" She gasped and covered her mouth from the shock.
PB: "Peppermint Butler!" She called out to him and he started running towards her to see if he could help.
He knew exactly why she called out to him, and he complied without hesitation.
J: "No! Finn!" He yelled in terror. Lady Rainicorn was right next to him so she picked Jake up and they flew over to Finn.
The people who rushed to Finn's side were some of the only people that were to remain outside. After Maja's army began to retreat, General Pretzel started to get everyone to go back within the Candy Kingdom's walls. It wasn't dangerous outside of the walls anymore but it wasn't exactly safe either and everyone needed to return for rest and medical treatment if needed. They did better than they thought that they would have with the war but it just wasn't good enough… not with a casualty like this.
The enemy forces were getting further and further away and didn't seem to be an active threat anymore. The war was not over and the battle was lost. The Candy Kingdom still stands but at what cost?
Marceline was the first to arrive at Finn's side, being much further away from where the front lines were just like Finn. She got within a few feet of him and stopped floating so she could be by his side. She came up upon him to see that the front of his shirt was burnt and smoke was coming from where he got hit. The lightning bolt didn't seem to do too much physical damage but Marceline couldn't honestly make a good assessment of the hero boy's injuries because she wasn't a doctor.
She fell to her knees and wrapped her hand around to the back of Finn's head to support it. He didn't seem conscious at the time.
M: "Finn! Are you ok?! Finn!" She yelled frantically.
He didn't say anything. He couldn't speak or anything. He wasn't even breathing…
M: "Finn, please wake up! I need you, Finn! Don't die on me!" She was starting to sound frantic and tears started to run down her face. The one who holds her mended heart is lying on the cold ground, motionless and she doesn't know what to do.
Her mind was racing and her heart was breaking. Her mind couldn't come to the realization of what just actually happened. This was something she could only have imagined in her worst nightmares. But this wasn't a nightmare, it was true. It was tearing her apart and it was the truth…

By the time Bubblegum reached Finn, Marceline was gone.
PB: "Peppermint Butler…" She said without facing him. She was assessing Finn's injuries.
P. Butler: "Yes, your highness?"
She just lowered her head and clenched her fists. That sent a clear message to Peppermint Butler.
P. Butler: "Uh… Y-yes, Princess." He ran back towards the Candy Kingdom to get what the princess wanted.
PB: "Please hurry…" She said as tears started running down her face; staring at Finn's lifeless body.

LSP: "Oh my glob you guys... drama bomb!" She could only be heard faintly in the background.
