Basket Thirty-Nine: Acceptance

OoOoO

Kuroi fidgeted with her sleeve, taking a sudden interest in it. "Uh-"

"Family?"

"Wh- huh?" Kuroi blinked, looking up at Kasamatsu. "How did you..."

"I.. accidentally heard you and Kise talking."

"So now you're eavesdropping?" She asked, not able to hide her amusement at the dark flush that appeared on Kasamatsu's cheeks. "Not that I mind... It actually kinda makes this easier."

Kasamatsu nodded slightly, clearing his throat. "I'm sorry." He apologized.

Kuroi had opened her mouth, about to apologize, but then shut it a second later, staring. "Wait, why are you sorry?"

"I should have been more forward, like that idiot, but instead I just stayed away, freaking out as I wondered what to do..."

"There's no need to be sorry for that. I'm the one who was avoiding everyone, even you. I'm the one who should be sorry, anyway." Kuroi shook her head, pushing her bangs from her face.

Kasamatsu was silent, before huffing out rather childishly, making Kuroi halt in her movements momentarily. "Can't you just let me be a man and accept my apology?" He muttered, a slight tinge on his cheeks.

Silence passed throughout the empty hallway, before Kuroi burst out into giggles. Kasamatsu's face turned even redder, and he sputtered as he tried to find the right words to say. "Okay. I'll accept, as long as you accept mine."

"F- Fine." He stuttered out, giving her a nod on confirmation. "I accept your apology."

"And I accept yours." Kuroi smiled. "Anyway, we should probably get back to class, because lunch is- or, was, over..."

"Right. I'll... call you later, maybe? O- Or text..."

"Whichever you want, sempai. See you!" Kuroi turned and was about to dart off after giving a quick wave to the older male.

"K- Kuroi!"

"Eh?" She looked down at the hand that had grabbed hers, and blushed slightly. "What?" She asked, staring into Kasamatsu's blue-grey orbs.

"I- I was wondering... if you... uh, wanted to... g- go out on a-... a... a date!" The spiky black haired male practically choked on his own words, his face alight with reds and pinks, forming the cutest blush Kuroi has ever seen.

"W- wait, a-... a date?" His blushing face had distracted her from his question, until the words had finally formed in her head. Kasamatsu nodded, confirming what he had just asked of her, not trusting his voice enough.

Kuroi felt her own face redden as she thought it over. "Okay." She agreed.

OoOoO

The weekend came faster than anticipated, and currently Kuroi was in her room, staring at her reflection in the mirror.

Moriyama flicked Kise's head, making the blond whine quietly. "Can't you leave their date alone?"

Kuroi shook her head at the memory, touching her heated cheeks in thought. "I swear, if that idiot randomly shows up..." She chucked quite dangerously, already tempted to hit the model from the thought of being interrupted. "Is this even a real date? Oh, wait, it is... O- Our... first... d- da-"

"Kuroi!"

"What!?" Kuroi had nearly jumped out of her skin, flushing darkly, wondering if her father knew what she was about to say.

"Don't use that tone with me, young lady." He scolded lightly, but didn't have a serious tone in it, unlike her mother...

"... Sorry." She murmured.

Makoto raised his eyebrow, seeing his daughter wearing nice-looking clothing. "Where are you going?"

"Out."

Kuroi's father sighed, rubbing his temple. "Kuroi, don't you understand the meaning of being 'grounded'?"

"Not quite." Kuroi replied, frowning. "Please, dad. Pleeaaaaasssssssseeee~" She dragged out the word, giving her father the pouty look, knowing he couldn't resist. Makoto twitched and tried to look away, but the glossy look in his daughter's eyes wouldn't let him. "W- Where to?" He asked, genuinely curious.

"Uhh, first to the school, then I don't know... The park, maybe?" Half of that was the truth, but she honestly didn't know where she would be going with Kasamatsu.

"Like, a walk?" Makoto blinked.

"Yes."

"With a boy?"

"Ye- uh, no. Nope. I wouldn't dream of it, dad." Kuroi laughed awkwardly, internally smacking herself.

"Hm." Her father gave her a suspicious look before turning away, about to leave her room. "Fine. But be back before dinner. That's when your mom comes home."

"Thank you, dad!" Kuroi grinned, giving her father a hug from behind before darting out around him to run down the stairs and for the door.

OoOoO

"Just... on time..." Kuroi breathed heavily, glancing at her phone. During her walk to the train station, she had been too slow, and missed the one she was originally supposed to take, so she had to wait for the next one. But, that had a problem, so she switched to another train, then when she finally got her, she only had five minutes to run to the school.

"Did you run all the way here?"

Kuroi turned to see Kasamatsu, and blushed. He looked cute wearing regular street clothes, instead of his usual attire, i.e. school uniform, gym clothes, and basketball uniform. His outfit consisted of an adorable looking blue knitted cardigan, with a plain blackish-grey shirt underneath and dark grey cargo shorts that ended just past his knees.

"Y- You're so cute..." Kuroi couldn't help but giggle at his reaction.

"Shouldn't I be saying that about you?" He huffed, crossing his arms, making himself appear even more adorable.

"Gonna.. die.." Kuroi teased, although she thought for a second that she really was going to die from an overload of cuteness.

"Anyway, what are we gonna do? And, yes, I ran from the train station because I didn't want to be late." She admitted, shrugging as if it wasn't a big deal.

Kasamatsu nodded, before drifting off into thought. "We could always go... I don't know." He grumbled.

"Didn't think about it too much?" Kuroi smirked.

"I tried! But my mind went all jumbled whenever I thought about it... But I do have a few places in mind..." Kasamatsu started, taking a deep breath before he continued, as if it took every particle of manliness in him to do so. "M- Maybe the movies... O- Or we could go for a walk, or go to a restaurant. But, then I started thinking what would you wanna do... so, yeah..." He finished lamely, scratching his cheek in slight embarrassment.

"Are you saying that it's my decision?" Kuroi watched the older teen nod hastily, and she hummed in thought. "Well, I said I was going for a walk before I left... Although I'm sure my dad was all suspicious of me."

"A walk, then?"

"Through the park."

"..."

"..."

"Where's the park?"

"I don't know... You've lived here longer than me, so shouldn't you know?" Kuroi asked in amusement.

Kasamatsu shrugged after a moment of silence passed, "I'm not sure. I don't really live near the school."

"Hm, you learn something new every day." She concluded. "Ah, well, I guess we could just walk around here, if you want. Sorta like that one day when we all went jogging around."

Kasamatsu nodded slowly, "Yeah, that could work."

OoOoO

"How did it turn out like this...?"

"I don't know..."

Kasamatsu and Kuroi had both been enjoying a quiet joyous walk, when suddenly a Kise had come out of nowhere.

Currently, the two were now seated on a random picnic table, with a bottle of (fake) sparkling wine placed in front of them.

Kise, smiling happily, sat down next to Kasamatsu and moved two cups in front of them. "No sempai and friend of mine shall have a horrible date!" He said, taking the fake sparkling wine bottle to inspect it.

"We were having a nice time, idiot!" Kasamatsu glared, punching the model's arm in haste. "You're the one that made it horrible!"

"Yeah, I don't even know how we ended up here..." Kuroi mumbled, looking at their surroundings before turning her attention back to Kise. She watched the blond shake the bottle, and then as if it slow motion; reach for the cap and twist it, ever so slowly, before finally opening it with a pop.

"Kise-!" Was all she could utter before the insides of the bottle came fizzing out dramatically and drastically, sending sticky bubbles of liquid all over the place.

For the remainder of the splash, Kuroi had her eyes closed. The moment she opened them, she regretted it, because seeing Kasamatsu covered nearly head to waist in the fake sparkling wine had her laughing.

"I- I'm sorry, sempai!" She apologized, struggling to stop her fits of giggles. Kise had a horror-stuck look on his face, as he waved his arms around wildly, as if it would help any.

"Sempai! FORGIVE ME!" He yelled, cringing as Kasamatsu kicked him from under the picnic table. "I'M SORRY!" The blond yelped as he got out from the table and ran away for his own safety. "I- I'll see you at school!" Was all he said, before disappearing out of sight.

After finally getting the laughter out of her system, Kuroi stood and moved the now empty bottle away from the older teen and sat next to him. "Sorry." She murmured sheepishly, taking a napkin from the small pile to wipe the sticky substance from Kasamatsu's face.

"It's fine; it wasn't your fault..." Kasamatsu muttered, glaring at a speck on the table. Kuroi nodded, biting her lip to keep the giggles away.

The black haired girl cleared her throat and looked around, "I'll be right back." She said quickly, before standing and making her way to the public washrooms she spotted.

Kuroi took some paper towels, and wet half of them with water from the tap, before making her way back, holding the dry ones in her other hand. She sat back down, and began wiping the sweet scented wine from Kasamatsu's face, neck, and any other visible skin shown.

"Hopefully that's better..." Kuroi smiled, currently in the process of drying his face. Kasamatsu nodded, feeling a bit better than before.

"I swear, when I see that idiot on Monday, I'm going to make him run a ton of laps."

"Sounds good." Kuroi chuckled, finding it a suitable revenge for what Kise had done. She paused, and stared at Kasamatsu's eyes. "Sempai, close your eyes for a second." She asked.

Kasamatsu raised his eyebrow questioningly, but obeyed her strange request. Kuroi flushed, and leaned in close to the older boy, before connecting her lips to his in a slow, but soft, kiss.

OoOoO

D'aww... Tis so cute! *dies* But, Kise... Why did you do it? xD Can't they just have a normal date?
