So thank you to everyone who reviewed, favorited, and followed this story I'm so grateful to all of you! Also, I don't own Viewfinder!
Soooo sorry about how late this thing is. So much stuff happened and then this actually ended up being the hardest chapter to start writing. Everything I wrote just didn't feel right and was all over the place so I just kind of gave up and am posting this version (it was the best so far).
Ch. 22- Proposal?
One month later
Akihito woke up with a pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist and his face pressed against a solid chest.
With a groan Akihito attempted to cover his eyes more to block out the morning sun and heard a chuckle from above him.
"Shut up you bastard. You aren't the one who is throwing up all the time. Plus the cravings! Not to talk about how exhausting the mood swings are! While having to deal with meeting your lovers family and being rejected by their mother and apparent fiance." Akihito groaned as he pulled the covers over his head in order to resist the temptation to look up and into those molten golden eyes that held his heart.
"You're right, Akihito, I don't." Akihito could practically feel the smirk that was radiating off of the smug bastard.
Akihito pulled the covers down off of his head and peaked out to look at Asami. Seeing those eyes looking back at him with one eyebrow raised, Akihito groaned again, and lifted himself up to sit with his back on the headboard next to Asami.
"Nope it's time to get up. We are going out today."
"Really?!" Akihito said surprised that Asami was allowing him out of the house. Not that the bastard would be able to stop him if he really wanted to. "Where?!"
"You'll see. But first you have to get up." Asami said as he slid out of bed and walked into the shower room to get ready.
When Asami had left however, Akihito just sighed and slowly slid back down on the bed. He was laying down so his head was once again on his pillow before rolling over so he was on Asami's side of the bed and buried his face in the pillow inhaling Asami's scent. The mixture of the soft blankets cocooned around him, plus the scent was slowly lulling Akihito back to sleep.
Right when Akihito was on the cusp of sleep he was suddenly jerked back to the startling reality of Asami running his tongue along his ear.
With a yelp Akihito moved backwards causing himself to fall off the side of the bed and onto the floor.
"Ugh! Fine I'm up!" Akihito yelled, "Happy now bastard. Now my ass hurts."
Asami was instantly by his side after the fall checking Akihito and the baby for signs of injury. Even though the doctor had said that the pregnancy should carry out like any normal one Asami still treated him like he was going to have a miscarriage at any moment.
"I'm fine Ryuichi." Akihito said placing his hand on top of Asami's on his stomach. "I'm going to go shower okay?" he said gently as he started to make his way towards the room.
Asami simply smirked and turned towards another door that lead to the closet where half was now taken up by Asami's multiple suits and about three casual wear outfits.
Akihito rolled his eyes and shut the bathroom door behind him and then started to strip.
A flash of something caught the corner of his eye and he looked down towards his left hand to notice a small band of gold had been placed onto his left ring finger.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" He yelled holding his hand up in front of his face.
"So you like it?" A smug voice said from the door frame behind him.
"This was you?"
"Who else do you expect to put a wedding ring on your finger, Akihito?" Asami said, his eyes narrowing.
"Well sorry if I didn't exactly expect to wake up one morning to find a ring on my finger. You can't blame me that I'm a little surprised!"
"You know most people cry and smile on the day they get engaged Akihito." Asami said smirking once again. "They tend to not yell at their fiance."
"Fiance?!" Akihito asked bewildered.
Asami nodded in return.
"Sorry bastard but I don't recall ever seeing you go down on your knees in front of me. Nor do I remember saying yes."
"I've been on my knees multiple times in front of you Akihito." Asami said with a whisper that practically screamed sex.
Akihito's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Not like that!"
"Oh. Then how?"
"You know how! You just don't want me to have the chance to say no to you."
"We both know you won't so why bother asking."
"You don't know that thought!"
"We have lived together for years. I have gone to multiply different countries searching for you. I gave you access to all of my bank accounts and practically everything that I own. Also you are carrying my child Akihito." Asami said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You wouldn't of said no."
"So multiple people have kids without being married. Plus I may have access to all your stuff but I haven't touched anything."
"Yes, because of your stubborn pride."
"Pride can be a good thing, bastard."
"Yes but it can also get in the way of things."
"Like yours is now?!" Akihito said in a huff pulling on a random shirt he found. "You are too prideful to get down and actually propose to me. Aren't you?"
Without waiting for an answer Akihito stormed out of the room and down the stairs into the dinning room to see his father already eat.
Akihito ruffled his own hair before plopping down in a seat and angrily shoving food onto his plate.
Daichi sighed and looked up at his son. "Okay what happened?"
"That bastard happened!" Akihito yelled throwing his fork down.
"What did he do?" Daichi asked pensively, his eye's narrowing.
"He fucking proposed to me!"
Daichi's eyes widened and he leaned back in his chair. "Okay now I'm lost. Didn't you want him to propose to you?"
"Yes! But not how he did it!"
"I'm sure it was fine. He was probably just nervous. I know I was when I asked your mother to marry me. We were practically playing charades. Luckily your mother was a smart women and was able to figure it out." Daichi said smiling as he recalled the memory.
"Yeah well charades is better than nothing!"
Daichi raised an eyebrow.
"He didn't say anything. Didn't get down on one knee. Nothing. I just woke up this morning with this ring on." Akihito said holding up his hand.
"Well you haven't taken it off so I'm assuming that that's a yes."
"Well of course it's a yes. But that bastard needs to learn that I'm not just going to go along with everything he has planned. I don't want some huge thing. He didn't need to sing or dance or do anything special. I just wanted some sort of an option."
"You feel trapped."
"What?" Akihito replied to his father.
"You feel trapped." his dad repeated with a sigh, "Akihito you have been like this since you were a kid. Even if you knew you were going to do something people had to ask you, just to make you feel like you had a say in your life. If we didn't ask you would go off crying and we wouldn't be able to find you for hours."
Daichi got up and walked around the table to stand in front of Akihito and put his hand on the side of Akihito's cheek.
"You always had to feel like you were still in control of your life even though every part of it was planned out. And I'm sorry about that, my son. I didn't mean for you to feel like you had no say in your life."
"It's okay dad."
"No it's not." Daichi sighed before lifting his hand off of the cheek it had been stroking to pick up one of Akihito's hands. "Now Akihito you know very well that I don't approve of Asami." Seeing Akihito about to protest Daichi gave a light squeeze to his hand. "However, I approve of Ryuichi. Over the past month and a half I have seen a new side to that man. A side that I never thought could exist. When he is around you, Akihito, he is not a ruthless criminal, but a man head over heels in love with someone for the first time in his life.
"You have to understand that with the business he's in most relationships are one night stands with prostitutes. You very well may be the first person he has ever truly fallen in love with Akihito. He may make mistakes here and there in your relationship but he's more in love with you than I ever thought someone like him was capable of being. The man that I see when he is around you is a man trying to hide his emotions because he may not be able to fully grasp all of what he is feeling himself."
Daichi shook his head and sighed.
"What I'm trying to say, Akihito, is that he may not understand just what it means to a person, to say the word 'yes', to see their partner get down on one knee and propose to them." Daichi gave Akihito a small smile. "And I'm also trying to say that if there is one man I would be willing to give you off to it would be that man that I see come out of Asami every time he is around you. Because that Asami would do anything for you."
Daichi stared up into those tear filled eyes. "May I be excused?" Akihito said holding back a few tears.
"Of course." Daichi said.
Akihito got up and headed to the backdoor to go to the barn. "Oh. And dad." Akihito said waiting for his father to look over at him. "Thank you." and with that Akihito left out to the barn.
"Did I get anything wrong?" Daichi said as he continued to stare out the door his son had disappeared through.
"You knew I was there the whole time." Asami said, though it really wasn't a question.
"Of course I did. Just like I knew about all of the things I just told Akihtio about you. I may be old but I'm not that off of my game." Daichi said with a sigh. "You better go after him."
Asami grunted and started to leave before he was stopped by the voice of Akihito's father.
"If I ever see the man you are around my son vanish then you can be sure as hell that I won't let you anywhere near him. But until such a day comes..."
He was cut off by Asami, "If it is to come at all"
Daichi glared back at Asami but continued as though he hadn't spoken, "take care of my son, Asami Ryuichi. You need him around, he makes you a better man. Protect him and do everything in your power not to loose him. It's the worst feeling to loose the one you love most." Daichi said with the ghost of sadness lurking behind his eyes.
Akihito slowly made his way towards the barn, tripping over a kitten or two as they crowded around his legs on his walk.
Opening the barn door Akihito heard a whinny and looked over to see Storm banging the side of his stall with his hove trying to get Akihito's attention off of the attention hogging kittens and onto him.
"Come on boy." Akihito said walking up to the stall. "Calm down. You know you're still my favorite." He said as he picked up a brush from the tack trunk next to the stall and walked in shutting the door behind him in case Storm decided to run for it.
Storm walked up to him and nuzzled his shoulder before nibbling at his hair.
Akihito laughed and patted Storm's neck. "Come on boy. I know I haven't showered yet. But I can't taste that good."
After he had curried and hard brushed Storms white coat Akihito picked up the soft brush and slowly made soft strokes down the length of Storms body, thinking about what his father had told him.
"Akihito." Made Akihito look up from where he had gently been brushing Storm to see Asami standing outside of the stall.
"Asami."
"So it's Asami again?"
"You have to earn Ryuichi." Akihito said with a huff and a snort from Storm.
Asami sighed and looked up at Akihito. "Look Akihito. I didn't think proposing would be that big a deal to you. I just figured we both knew we were going to get married why bother with an extravagant proposal."
"I didn't want that though. I just wanted to like I had a say." Akihito said opening the stall door to place the soft brush in the tack trunk and get a face brush.
"But you do Akihito." Asami said grabbing Akihito's hand while lifting his chin so Akihito was looking into his eyes. "I knew you would say yes because of all of the other times you had said yes to me. I knew because of the way you act, the way your face changes when I walk into the room, the way you seem to gravitate towards me when there is already such little distance between us." Asami said looking down to show that they were now pressed chest to chest while Akihito hadn't even remembered moving forward. "What I'm trying to say Akihito, is that although I didn't ask your permission to marry you, I ask you permission everyday to love you. "
Akihito smiled as he looked up into those eye's he could never get enough of. "You lied."
Asami raised an eyebrow. "You said you would only say you loved me that once."
"Well you know yakuza," Asami said with his famous smirk "they can't be trusted."
