"Great, let's split up then. Scour the place for them." Richie says turning to face us, excitement evident on his handsome face.

"Yeah good plan, genius none of us thought of that one." Scott says rolling his eyes at his best friend.

We looks rather annoyed that his brilliant plan, wasn't as brilliant as he thought it was going to be.

Thats how 10 minutes later, I end up walking round in the middle of the night, with a very in-love Richie and Lily and a very sarcastic, yet still devilishly handsome Scott. A very sarcastic, devilishly handsome Scott who kept hitting on me.

"So, you're a transfer? That's cool, where from?" He grins, sweeping his blonde hair out of his eyes, with a smirk.

I turn around to see if I can escape this particular conversation only to get a faceful of Lily, and Richie's -very sloppy- kissing. With a grimace I spin back to a very smug looking Scott.

"You can't escape me, and deep down you know you don't want to." He laughs in a sing-song voice.

I roll my eyes and march a few paces ahead of him scouting the area for any kind of life. In the distance a large ferris wheel looms towering meters above the surrounding buildings. Why would there be a Ferris Wheel, here I thought they didn't exist anymore. Yet alone ina an old factionless hangout.

"What is that, anyway?" I whisper to a now caught up Scott.

He shrugs, "a ferris wheel, you never heard of one before?"

"Yeah, obviously I have why is there one here though? I thought this was just abandoned town." I ask suddenly interested in what Scott has to say.

"The part we were just in was yeah. This is the Navy Pier, and that is our first victim." Scott drops his voice into a low whisper and nods over to the right where there is a black clad initiate is clutching her gun like a lifeline. Although it probably is.

"Should we let the lovebirds know?" I whisper to Scott, well I try to whisper to Scott only to find thin air.

I whip around to see Scott pelting the girl mercilessly with paintballs. I spring into action running around Scott and the decommissioned girl, to be met with a shower of brightly coloured balls, which burst into a rainbow of paint, across the concrete floor.

I duck down behind a wooden crate to avoid the main impact before firing my own, which meet their targets with a satisfying thud, and a hiss of pain.

A second later Richie -clearly broken out of his love bubble by the commotion- slides down next to me, "you see the flag?" He gasps over the sound of exploding paintballs, and yells.

"No, the rest of our teams here though. So I was going to scout for it, coming?" I nod over to where Four, and Uriah are having way too much fun shooting the shit out of 16 year olds.

"Huh," he mutters watching our instructors. "Yeah I'm coming, where you gonna start?"

"The Ferris wheel." I spring up and creep over to the next object of cover, firing at everything that moves on my way.

"Jesus Lily, you move fast. Sure you ain't a Dauntless born?" Richie laughs ducking down next to me.

But I'm gone again and this time I'm not stopping until I reach the Ferris Wheel, somthing tells me in the pit of my stomach that's where it will be. Just so long as Tris is as cunning, and sentimental as I think she is.

I reach the Ferris Wheel with Richie on my tail shooting at everything that comes near me. I glance up at the rusted fairground ride, and just as I thought I spot a glow of orange in a carriage two up from the one at the bottom. Not so close I can just grab it, but close enough that I can end this game in 10 minutes. 7 if I'm lucky.

"Cover me." I bark to Richie.

"What are you doing?"

"Going up."

Richie nods once, loads his gun and turns back to the main field of fighting. Several of the team have slipped away, presumably to find our flag. But they won't, not before I've grabbed theirs at least.

I grasp onto the rusted iron bar and pull myself up, again and again until I reach the first carriage.

By the time I get my feet firmly on the first carriage, my arms are aching, my hands are stinging and I can't imagine much worse than continuing to the next carriage. The little orange glow above me reminds that I have to. I have to get the respect of the Dauntless, and if there ever was a way to do that, this is it.

With a deep breath I grasp the next iron bar, and pull myself up again. Adrenaline fills my veins, as I push myself up again and again getting closer and closer to the flag. The orange glow becoming brighter, and bigger with every strain of my muscles.

Then suddenly I have wrenched the ferris wheel carriage open and my body is being swung inside. The second I have my full weight inside the carriage it swings precariously back and forth. If I look down I know I will throw up.

I lean forward carefully my fingers making contact with the almost too bright flag. I grasp my hands around it, and thrust my body out of the carriage, hanging of the iron wheel waving the flag back and forth a huge grin breaking across my face.

Cheers break out underneath me, and for the first time I dare to look down. And I'm glad I do. In the black night I can make out only the heads of the black clad teens, the black clad teens who are cheering for me their voices echoing into the otherwise silent night. I've never felt so happy in all my life.

Ten minutes later my elation is yet to fade as we walk back to Headquarters, waking up anyone who happened to sleeping in our near proximity. But for once I don't care about those nameless, faceless people. For the first time I don't feel like an Abnegation.

"Hey Jane, you coming with us?" Scott calls.

I turn around to see him stood with Richie, Lily, Uriah, Tris and Marlene. They aren't going back that's for sure.

'Where are you going?"

"Detour home, come on I promise it'll be fun." He replies waving me forward.

I smirk. "Fine, but if bad shit happens I'm blaming you."

We've been walking for less than a minute when I realise something, or someone is missing. "Where's Four?"

"Never comes, nothing much scares him anymore. Probably lost its thrill." Uriah laughs guiding us into a nearby high rise building.

Tris rolls her eyes at this as if she knows something we don't. I remind myself to ask her about that later. But for now. "What's lost its thrill?"

Uriah presses his fingers to my lips. "The surprise is half the fun, stop ruining it for yourself.

He pushes us into a ridiculously large lift, and presses a button labelled 100.

Now this should be fun.
