Deep within the dark reaches of space, there was space station. It was called the Space Colony ARK. Within it there was a brilliant scientist by the name of Gerald Montgomery Robotnik. He had a beautiful granddaughter named Maria. Unfortunately, Maria was very ill. She could not go upon the Earth or she would die. Gerald worked endlessly to find a cure for Maria's disease, but no matter how much he tried he could not find a cure. Desperate, he sought out the help of Black Doom, an evil alien overlord and king of the Black Arms race. He gave Gerald some of his immortal DNA, and although this did help tremendously, it was not enough. Distraught, he almost gave up. But, as if it were a gift from the gods, he found his answer. He found the bones of the legendary knight of the roundtable, Sir Lancelot. Using the DNA from both warriors, he created the ultimate lifeform, Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow met Maria and they became fast friends and almost never left each other's sides. The government did not like Gerald's association with Black Doom, so they shut the project down and killed everyone aboard the ARK, including Maria. But before she died, Maria pushed Shadow into an escape pod and sent him down to Earth. The government found Shadow and put him into cryostasis for fifty years until he was released by Prof. Gerald's grandson, Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. He then had many adventures, often which involved Sonic the Hedgehog. This is his story.
