Chapter 11
After the argument, night time
'How did I ended up here?' Ichigo muttered to himself. He was currently standing in the dark street, pulling his jacket closer to his body to keep the chilly night-time air away. He eyed the door in front of him, debating whether to knock and or walk away. Despite how late it was, Ichigo could see light in the front window through the curtains.
"I came all this way. I might as well try." He walked up the stairs and stopped, hesitating to knock on the door he had been staring at for so long. Slowly he raised his fist and lightly knocked on the door. For a few seconds there was silence until he could hear muffled footsteps coming from the other side. The door unlatched and opened slightly, Orihime peered out from the crack to find Ichigo standing there and she let the door open fully.
'Ichigo? Its late, are you ok?' Orihime greeted.
'Can we talk?'
'Sure.' She stepped aside to let Ichigo through and closed the door behind him.
'The dance was pretty fun wasn't it?' Orihime stopped, waiting for some kind of a response but went on when Ichigo said nothing.'Uryu was nearly dragging himself home when he left here, he was so tired. But it was an amazing night.'
'Have you been home? You're still in your clothes from the dance.' She asked, knowing that he left the dance hours before she did.
'I just came from there. I needed... some air and space. Didn't have time to change.' He answered, not realising he was still in his good pants and suit jacket.
'Ichigo,' hearing his name her turned and faced the girl, 'I take it you weren't just in the neighbourhood. What's going on?'
'I had a fight with Rukia and I just need someone to talk to.' As Ichigo started talking, Orihime gestured and the two of them sat down around the table in the middle of the room. Orihime offered his some tea she had made but he refused so she only poured a cup for herself. He talked about everything, right from when he got home, the horrible things he said and that he stormed out. When he mentioned the Kana comment, Orihime bit her lip to stop herself from screaming at him. She understood he was upset, but even she wanted to punch him in the nose.
'Orihime, you know what's going on, don't you?' Ichigo asked, deciding to waste no more time. He was worried and wanted to know what was wrong.
'Is Rukia in trouble? Is she sick?' He tried thinking of all the possible situations, in the hopes maybe if he guessed it Orihime's expression would give it away. 'Please Orihime, I'm worried about her. I just want to help her.'
'Ichigo, don't you remember...anything about the party?' She asked, taking a sip from her cup and putting it down onto the table.
'The party for Keigo's brother?' Orihime just nodded, watching Ichigo ruffle his hair as he started thinking.
'I remember-'
'drinking. I think I had too much beer. I don't remember much at the party itself.'
'Did I dance?' Seeing Orihime nod he remembered a little piece. 'I danced with Rukia, it was a slow song but it was ok.'
'Keigo's brother took me home... Rukia too. He warned us...not to puke in the back-seat.'
'We were laughing and... it got really warm.' Orihime watched the frown lines deepen across Ichigo's forehead. She waited for him to continue, hoping he might remember the night on his own.
'I don't know. Its all fractured. I cant remember much else.' Orihime's expression dropped at his words, morphed between disappointment and frustration.
"HE'S AN IDIOT! How can he be so clueless?!" Orihime screamed inside her head. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to stop herself from saying the words out loud.
'I'm sure if you keep trying it will come back to you.' Orihime said trying to comfort the hunched over teen. "Although it might be quicker for Rukia to tell him."
'Rukia knows what happened, doesn't she?' Orihime just gave a small nod.
'She does. I'm not sure how but she can remember a lot of that night. I guess she didn't drink as much or she just remained more aware.'
'Look, Rukia has an appointment tomorrow afternoon. I suggest while she is out-' Looking at the man in front of her, she debated with herself whether or not to tell him anything, and just what to tell him. "Maybe if he could find out on his own..."
'Look under her pillow.' Orihime finally answered, causing Ichigo to lift his head to meet her gaze. He was nothing short of confused at her suggestion.
'That's it? "Look under her pillow" is all you're gonna give me?' His eyebrow was arched, his mind trying to figure out what he was meant to do with that vague information handed to him.
'I wont betray Rukia's trust like that. I know she wants to tell you, so this is really all I can do to help you. I want you to know, but I want to respect Rukia and let her be the one to tell you everything.'
'I guess, that's enough. Thanks Orihime.'
Getting up to leave, Ichigo stopped just before the front door and turned back to face Orihime.
'Just so you know.' Orihime looked up at him, waiting for him to continue.
'I haven't been dating Kana.' Ichigo took note of the surprise on Orihime's face, knowing the situation had gotten out of hand, so he continued, 'The principle asked me to show her around her first day, and she's been taking my... responsibility to help her a little too seriously.'
'Why didn't you tell anyone?' she asked, surprised he hadn't mentioned anything before.
'I didn't think anyone would actually believe I would date her! Do you honestly believe I would put up with her willingly?!'
'No. Keigo and everyone just thought maybe you hit your head. Like really hard.' Ichigo let out a small chuckle at this, knowing it had to be Keigo that thought up the crazy idea. "Your a dead man when I get my hands on you!"
'Kana tried to hit Rukia the other day, did she tell you that?'
'No.' He could feel his anger rising up, he couldn't believe Kana would sink so low.
'Kana's been going around saying she's your girlfriend, and since you never denied it, we all kind of believed her. And then you go to the dance with her.'
'I didn't go to the dance with her. I went to the dance for...' He didn't continue, not sure of his own feeling, not enough to admit it out loud.
'For?...Rukia?' The look in his eyes was all the answer Orihime needed. She tried to suppress her laughter, not sure how to response to that without insulting him. " He's such an idiot. They both are." She thought, Rukia crossing her mind at the thought. They both like each other, but were too stupid to realise it fully.
'It might be a good idea to let Rukia know about this. It might help her to... explain things if she knows the truth about Kana, and maybe...how you feel.'
'What would Kana have to do with any of it?'
'Rukia really thought you were dating, and because of that she didn't want to mess things up for you. She wanted and thought you were happy. She thought if she told you anything it might ruin that.'
'She cares for you Ichigo, more than you know.' Ichigo knew this, but hearing it from someone else made his face feel warm, a blush trying to rise to the surface. He managed to suppress it with an awkward cough.
'I know. I... care...about her.'
'Thanks Orihime.' He said, stepping back out into the outside world.
'Be careful.' Closing the door behind him, Orihime just leaned back against the door and fell to the floor. "Brother, please tell me I did the right thing?" She thought to herself, burying her face into her hands.
Outside Ichigo shivered in the cold air, buttoning the front of his jack up and pulling the collar to cover the exposed skin of his neck. Walking along the dark streets, the moon casting very little light for Ichigo to see by. As he made his way home, Orihime's words and his own feelings kept running through his head. His mind couldn't piece together the fractured memories he did have, and Rukia was the only person who could help him.
When he finally made it home and walked through the door, he noticed Yuzu puttering around the kitchen, preparing dinner while talking to Karin who was sitting at the dinner table reading a magazine. ( I dunno, what does Karin read). The two greeted Ichigo and he just said hey and walked straight past them and straight up the stairs to his room. When he entered, he noticed it lacked the girl plaguing his thoughts. He figured she went to Tatsuki's for a while to escape after their fight. Walking straight past the closet, he sat down at his desk and pulled out a book from a pile that had been made. He opened it and started reading, trying to loose himself in the pages. He found this harder than usual, his mind just wasn't clear enough to concentrate. After a few more minutes of trying, he closed the cover and put the book down, running his fingers through his hair and messing it up in frustration. Resting his chin in the palm of his left hand, Ichigo's eyes kept peering at the closet, staring at the closed door.
Loosing his patience, he decided he couldn't wait till tomorrow. With the room was vacant, he pushed away from his desk and came to stand in front of the closet. He slowly opened the closet door, his eyes immediately landing on Rukia's pillow. He stared, his hand reaching out and hovering over it, but no matter how hard his body tried to move, his mind wouldn't let him. He couldn't bring himself to do this to Rukia.
'Ichigo! Dinner!' Frustrated, he slammed the closet door and walked out of his room and headed down stairs to where everyone had already gathered to the dinner table.
Sitting down to dinner, Ichigo forced himself to concentrate on his family. He listened, gave a response every now and then, even argued back with his dad when he thought the old man was being an idiot. He managed to last a good twenty minutes before decided to see if Rukia was home. Clearing his plate and utensils from the table and leaving them in the sink and started walking out of the dining room.
'You ok Ichigo?' Yuzu asked, noticing he didn't eat a lot of dinner tonight.
'I'm finished. Thanks Yuzu, it was delicious.' Heading upstairs to his bedroom, Ichigo found himself taking breaths to try and keep himself calm. He stopped and noticed the light leaking out from underneath the door. He knew he had turned off the light, so he knew Rukia was in there.
'I want answers, I need to stay calm.' He grabbed the door handle and quietly pushed the door open. He stepped in and let the door click behind him as he looked on at the girl perched cross legged on his bed, one of her cheesy manga's in hand. He noticed she had changed into a loose hooded jumper and a pair of baggy sweatpants, her hair pulled back into a messy ponytail. He couldn't help but realise he hadn't noticed how long her hair had grown, reminding him that they hadn't really talked for a while, not like they used to anyway.
Hearing the door, Rukia looked up and immediately became nervous at the sight of Ichigo, letting the manga close in her hands. She didn't know how to handle the situation after Ichigo got so upset before.
'Hey.' Ichigo said quietly, feeling guilty at the sight of the usually strong girl in front of him struggling to hold eye contact with him.
'Sorry, I know it annoys you when I sit on your bed to read.' Her gaze fell to her hands. She unfolded her legs, going to move from the bed but Ichigo made a move to stop her.
'No its ok. Just stay there.' Rukia looked up at him a little shock showing through her expression but stayed rooted to the bed.
'We need to talk.' There was a moment of silence, Ichigo's expression was unreadable as he watched all the questions forming in Rukia's mind and showing on her face. He came and sat down on the bed next to Rukia, his weight shifting the mattress, making the bed groan slightly. He inhaled deeply before looking up into her eyes. Putting her manga to the side, Rukia shifted to face him fully, pulling her legs up and tucking them to the side.
'What I said to you before... I wasn't fair to you.'
'Eh?' The only sound Rukia could make escaped her lips, her confusion levels rising to maximum.
'I shouldn't have... said that stuff to you. I should have given you a chance to talk to me instead of getting angry and storming off like that.'
'Its... understandable.'
'When I left here, I was furious. I hated not knowing what was going on, you wouldn't talk to me and there was nothing I could do.'
'I walked around for about an hour, just trying to calm down and clear my head. And I ended up at Orihime's place.'
Rukia closed her eyes, dreading to hear the rest.
'She told me that your going through a hard time, she said that you had something you were trying to tell me but were too afraid to tell me.'
'I told her how worried I am about you, that I just want to help and be here for you. What could be so bad that you couldn't tell me?'
'She told me that I could find some answers... in the closet, under your pillow to be exact.'
'I didn't.'
'I couldn't. I couldn't do that to you. I want to hear from you what's going on.'
'I know you and when I said that you weren't trustworthy that was a lie. I was angry and upset and worried about you.'
'I trust you more than anyone else and I should have remembered that.'
'You wouldn't be hiding something from me unless it was something big and I just want you to know that what ever it is, I just want to help you.'
'I'm sorry Ichigo.'
'I have tried to tell you but I just... got so scared.'
'Scared of what?'
'I didn't think that if I told you, you'd still...care, about me.' The last part of her sentence caught in her throat, stumbling out, ending in a low murmur.
'I shouldn't have lied. Its not fair to you, not knowing the truth.' Ichigo just watched Rukia, waiting for her to continue. He could see by the expression on her face how hard this all was. Seeing her broken and feeling guilty tore at his heart a little.
Rukia kept her gaze directed at the floor for a moment before moving back towards the closet. Shifting her pillow out of the way, she grabbed the diary and tightly held it against her chest. "I can do this", she repeated in her mind, clutching the diary even tighter.
Taking a deep breath she turned and looked Ichigo right in the eye. She moved towards him and held the diary out to him, the title facing the floor. He took it and Rukia stepped back and leaned against the closet door, watching his reaction as his eyes fell to the small, unassuming book in his hands. Turning it over, his eyes widened as he read the title. He looked from Rukia to the book, his breathing becoming more and more rapid, he could hear his own heartbeat in his ears as he looked over the cover.
With shaking hands he opened the cover and the pages fell to a section that had a folded piece of paper and a photograph wedge between the pages. He picked the photograph out and held it between his thumb and fingers, bringing closer to his face, letting the diary fall to his lap.
Staring intently at the picture, Ichigo slowly traced his finger tips over the picture, his eyes never leaving the small, blurry shape in the picture.
'This is...' His voice came out no louder than a breath, cracking half way so much that he couldn't continue.
'Rukia?' Not hearing any noise or response, he looked up and found his bedroom door open and no Rukia in sight. Clutching the diary in his hand, Ichigo raced out his bedroom door and down the stairs to the front door.
'Ichigo, what's wrong?' Ichigo turned to his father, his breath forming clouds between his lips.
'Its Rukia.' Isshin's expression remained the same as Ichigo explained, showing his father the book in his hands. Isshin reached out and took hold of the diary and opened the cover, flipping through and looking at the few pages that were filled out.
'Ichigo…' Ichigo looked up at his father, tears that Isshin hadn't seen in years threatening to escape in his eyes.
'You should try to find her. Its not healthy for her to be out in the cold. Its meant to rain tonight.' Isshin handed the book back to his son, a gentle smile spread across his face. With a shaking hand Ichigo grabbed the diary and looked back at his father.
'Thanks dad.' Was all he said as he raced for the door. He slipped on his shoes and a jacket and disappeared out the front door.
'Dad, is Ichigo ok?' Karin asked, coming to stand behind the old man. He just turned and his face held a serious smile, freaking out his young daughter.
'He will be.'
'Ok your scaring me! When are you ever this serious?' Isshin just took and deep breath and launched into one of his crazy rants, causing Karin to close her eyes and exit the room. This how ever did not work, Isshin just followed her.
With Rukia
Without stopping for a second, Rukia had found herself running down the street away from Ichigo's house. She managed to slip her shoes on but not properly and she could feel them slipping off every time her feet hit the ground.
"That look on his face. He was so upset." Her mind raced, all the emotions she thought were under control started welling up inside.
"I can't take it."
"Its all my fault." Tears she didn't know she had left rolled down her face, creating cold patches with the wind on her face. Still running, Rukia wiped the tears on the back of her sleeve. Her legs started burning and her lungs were crying out for air, but she kept running as fast as she could.
Without having kept track of her direction, she found herself at the steps to the cemetery where Ichigo's mother was. She stopped for a few minutes, letting her breathes slow down to a normal rate before she started climbing the stairs. While climbing she didn't even notice it starting to rain, her sweat and tears mixing with the drops falling on her face and rolling down her cheeks.
Reaching the top, she automatically walked to where she knew the headstone was.
Masaki Kurosaki
Crouching down beside the headstone, she brought her knees closer to her body and buried her face into her crossed arms. Her sobs filled the empty cemetery, mixing with the sound of the rain hitting the ground. She became soaked in minutes, but she didn't notice, she just stayed curled up in the one spot, letting the months of emotions pour out.
She stayed there, crouched in the same position for an hour. Lifting her head, her eyes were red, her face was pale and her hair fell limp and pieces clung to her face. The rain started to ease, becoming nothing more than a mist. Wiping the hair from her face Rukia pushed herself up off the ground, her legs shaking and unstable from the cold. Pulling her wet sleeve up her arm she peered at the watch on her wrist, and seeing how late it was, she decided to head back to Ichigo's. She wasn't sure if she should, but having no where else to go she decided to go back. Reaching the base of the stairs, her body started walking in the direction she knew that led back to Ichigo's house.
'Its so cold.' Her clothes clung to her small form, her hair hung down dripping against her shoulders. In a vain attempt to keep warm she folded her arms across her chest, pulling the collar of her jumper up higher. The wind was bitter, reaching straight through the wet layers to her skin and the cold hitting straight to her bone. She started shivering, her teeth chattering despite her attempts to stop. Violent shivers ripped through her body, making it almost impossible for her to walk.
She kept walking, wiping her eyes where the wind stung them. "Keep going. Just keep walking. I'm almost there." After a while she found herself on the right street, just blocks away from Ichigo's house. The street light outside the house flickered, the power trying to remain on but struggling in the fierce wind and rain. The street was dead, not one other person was in the street Rukia noticed, making her feel a little better that no one could see her like this.
She came to a stop, standing in front of the house. Not a single light was on, the house was in complete darkness. Quietly, Rukia opened the gate so as not to disturb the household. She came to stand up Ichigo's window . She tried to climb up, only to slip and fall back to the ground. Shakily picking herself up off the ground she spared one last glance up towards Ichigo's window before shuffling to the front door, begging for it to be unlocked. The door opened under her hand and she entered, closing it behind her.
'Its so warm in here.' Closing her eyes, she enjoyed the warmth against her face, thawing her features. Kicking off her shoes she wandered from the front door to the stairs and dragged herself up towards Ichigo's bedroom door.
When she entered Ichigo's room she looked around for Ichigo, but the room was empty. Stumbling over to the desk she flicked the lamp on, the light touching a very small amount of the room, enough for her see Ichigo's empty bed.
'Where could he be this late at night?' She couldn't help but worry, even though she knew Ichigo could look after himself. Her worries were cut short when a violent shiver once again ran through her body, reminding her of her current state. Opening the closet door, she pulled her jumper over her head and let it fall to the ground, followed by everything else. She dried herself off with her towel that she always kept folded in the corner of her bed near her school bag.
When she was positive she was dry enough, Rukia dropped the towel onto the small pile on the floor and pulled her pyjama top and pants on, instantly feeling warmer and comfortable. She gathered everything off the floor and placed them into the hamper near the bedroom door, deciding to take care of her wet clothes later.
The sound of the front door closing alert Rukia. She jumped, instinctively turning off the light so she could remain hidden, trying to hide down between the desk and the closet door. Her whole body tensed, waiting, hearing the footsteps coming up the stairs. She crouched down even further at the sound of the doorknob turning.
Ichigo stepped into the dark room, now the only source of light being the moon peering through the gap in the curtain. Peering out of the shadows, Rukia could see even in the darkness that Ichigo was soaked. His usually spiked orange hair was dripping and hanging down over his neck and eyes, his clothes dripping on the floor and the occasional sniffle he let out.
"Have you been looking for me...this whole time?"
'Ichigo?' He followed the sound of her voice, spotting her standing in front of the closet right across the room from him.
Without a word he walked towards her and grabbed her shoulders, pulling Rukia against his chest and wrapping his arms around her small frame.
'You're freezing. And you're all wet.' Rukia didn't really mind, she just didnt know what else to say.
'Idiot!'
'Why did you run off like that?' Ichigo asked angrily, tightening his hold around her shoulders, bring her as close to his chest as he could.
'Im sorry.' Rukia said, her voice cracking.
'You scared the crap out of me. I couldn't find you anywhere. What if something happened to you?' He pulled her back for a moment, his hands cupping her cheeks. He looked at her face, his thumbs gently stroking her cheeks.
'I was afraid.'
'I couldn't take it if you were angry at me.' Without a word Ichigo pulled her back, wrapping his arms around her once more. Rukia's hands where pressed against his chest, she could feel his heartbeat under her finger tips as she buried her nose into the wet fabric.
'Your expression, the look you gave when you saw the book, it made me-'
'You panicked?' Ichigo could feel her nodding against his chest.
'I'm not angry.'
'Why not?' Rukia asked, unable to hide the shock in her words.
'Its going to take me some time, to get used to. But I will get there.'
'It must be or have been even harder for you. Your a soul reaper, this probably wasn't in any class you took when you were younger.' Rukia pulled back, staring up into his eyes as he spoke. She saw no anger, she saw Ichigo. Just Ichigo. The person she knew he was all along.
'It probably didn't help that I was completely dense to all the signs. I could have noticed things or tried talking to you instead...of screaming at you.' Ichigo state, still feeling guilty about his words to her earlier in the evening.
'You said my expression made you worry, why?' Rukia hesitated, then started relaying the phone call she had a few hours ago while Ichigo was at Orihime's.
'Rukia? Its not like you to call me. Is there something wrong?'
'I just have a question that I don't think I can wait to ask you tomorrow.'
'Are you feeling ok?'
'I just... keep throwing up. Is this normal? I mean isn't it supposed to cease after a while?'
'Some women experience morning sickness throughout different stages of their pregnancies. It depends on the person. Its nothing to worry about. Just relax and if you feel queasy try crackers or my favourite was flat lemonade. Do you have any pain or bleeding?'
'No I... I haven't felt anything and there hasn't been any blood.' From the tone of her voice, the doctor could tell something else was bothering Rukia.
'There's something else isn't there?'
'I...'
'I've been trying to tell the father... and I just cant seem to bring myself to say the words. "I'm pregnant." It seems like such a simple thing to say but then I find myself stuck and all these thoughts run through my head.'
'I see this quite often, specifically in young mothers.' She said, feeling sorry for the young girl.
'I had a patient a few years back, no older than yourself. Her family was well off, they had strict beliefs and she had made the decision to keep the baby and raise it herself. She brought the father to one of her appointments to help explain the situation better and if he wanted to see the child.'
'She had not told him prior to the appointment, so as you can imagine he was horrified.'
'What happened?'
'He stormed out of the appointment, and she never heard from him again. A few months later she saw him in the street, with his arms wrapped around another girl.'
'The younger boys don't tend to stick around. They feel no responsibility for what they have done and sometimes place the blame on the mother.'
'How?'
'They'll say things like "she used me to get pregnant," or "she just wants money" and the classic "it could be anyone's child."
'You cant be sure that will happen. Everyone's different right?'
'True. But do you want to risk it?'
'Ichigo isn't like that.'
'Then why cant you tell him?'
'When I got off the phone, I came back here and when you came in I had prepared how to tell you, that's why I was sitting there and not... hiding in my closet. I knew that wasn't you, the stuff she said. You wouldn't do that to someone, but when I saw your face I just... thought you would hate me and... for a second...' Ichigo knew what she was trying to saying.
'You saw the story coming true.'
'Kind of.'
'Idiot.' He hugged her, his chin resting on the top of her head.
Rukia smiled, her tears disappearing into Ichigo's jacket as she wrapped her arms around Ichigo's middle, pressing her face into the material. She knew it was going to be all right.
Holding her closer to himself, Ichigo bent down and kissed the top of her head, smiling into her hair as he felt her breathing even into a steady rhythm.
'You asleep midget?' Smothering a small chuckle he adjusted his arms and carefully slipped his hand behind her knees and lifted the sleeping girl effortlessly into his arms. He carried her over the bed and carefully placed her down and covered her over with the covers. He smirked as he watched Rukia bury her nose into his pillow and pull the covers up high under her chin.
After changing and drying his hair off with the towel draped over the back of his desk chair, Ichigo climbed into bed beside her, ignoring the feeling in his chest; the feeling of just how natural it felt having Rukia laying next to him. She shifted, turning over to face him and Ichigo saw the peaceful expression she had. He placed a kiss on her forehead, draped his arm over her waist and pulled her in closer to him, resting his chin on Rukia's head.
'Sweet dreams.' And with that he closed his eyes and he slipped into sleep.
The Next Morning
When Rukia finally stirred the next morning, it was already later than the soul reaper like to be up. Cringing at the whiter light of morning creeping through the gap in the curtain she twisted her body around and peered at the alarm clock on Ichigo's side table.
"10:46am"
Letting out a loud groan she sat up, smothering the knots that were in her hair. She knew Ichigo wouldn't be asleep still, she could hear his movements downstairs and the smell of burning toast. Even so, the smell made her stomach growl. She moved a hand to her stomach, wondering who was more hungry, her or the baby. Under her fingers she could feel the change in the shape of her belly, a slight bump had started forming, her fingers curving around the shape.
The door creaked open and Ichigo stepped in, a plate occupying one hand while a glass of orange juice occupied the other. He looked over at Rukia, watching her touch and rub her stomach through her pyjama top.
'Morning.' He broke her out of her trance, her head coming up to meet his eyes. Her hand moved away from her stomach, pulling the covers around her to cover it.
'How long was I asleep for?' Rukia asked as Ichigo came closer.
'Not sure. It was pretty late when you crashed. Here.' He held out the plate to her and she carefully took it, eyeing the contents. Ichigo sat the glass down on the bedside table and sat down in the desk chair, facing Rukia.
'You made me breakfast?'
'Yeah well... it was nothing! Just eat!' He turned away from her, but Rukia could see a light pink tinge on the tip of Ichigo's ear.
'Ichigo?' She said quietly, watching him struggle with his words. That was a first for her.
'I... I care...about you.' He admitted slowly. Rukia's mouth opened slightly, trying to form words, but hearing that from Ichigo, she just couldn't think of anything to say.
'You can count on me you know?'
'Eh?' Confused, Rukia just stared into Ichigo's eyes, searching for any sign of
'I'm not going anywhere. I want to be here... with you, if you'll let me?'
'What about Kana?'
'I know what Kana said, and what she tried to do, but I can say with all honesty that I do not like her. At all.'
'So you weren't...'
'Dating? No. I was helping her out because the principle asked me to. She took it too far and I let it get out of hand.'
'We need to talk about this but just give me a few days, and then we can talk about it. All of it.' Rukia just listened, remaining silent as Ichigo talked.
'Ill get my head around it and we can figure this out...'
'Together.'
'Together?' The word escaped her lips. Ichigo just looked her in the eye, and that was all the answer she needed. Rukia smiled, turning her attention to the toast before taking a small bite. She smiled, letting her gaze fall to Ichigo's back, watching him quietly reading the book open in his hand. For the first time in months, Rukia finally felt safe.
Feeling eyes staring at him, Ichigo looked up and caught Rukia's gaze.
'Quit starin would ya?! Your freaking me out!' Without waiting for a response, Ichigo turned his attention back to the book in front of him, a smirk on his face.
The ending
YEAH! CELEBRATE!
Explanation Per favore
So I originally had the reveal scene where Ichigo is so upset and angry he goes to Kana and they... well you know! But he cant so he leaves Kana's place and goes to Orihime and Orihime gets upset when he tells her what he almost did. And she basically says to look under Rukia's pillow.
Ichigo goes home and he looks. And falls to pieces (not literally no tears or anything) and he waits until Rukia comes back and basically confronts her. He gets upset which is reasonable and Rukia thinks that his reaction is his way of showing that he doesn't want that responsibility and she walks out. And that's where it ended.
But I changed it to this when I thought, Ichigo isn't that kind of guy. He wants to hear the truth from Rukia, not snoop around and find out on his own. And I really just couldn't bring myself to write him nearly having sex with Kana -_- dramatic yes but not what I want in my story.
Yes Rukia does run off but she is terrified and emotional and not thinking very clearly. She took a huge step telling Ichigo, and docs little story has left her shaken.
BUT we all know Ichigo is not that kind of guy and things work themselves out by the end of the chapter.

WhiteSheWolf17- NONONONO I will not stop it here. Geez! I hate writers that write great stories and then stop mid way. Y U NO FINISH AWSOM STORY!
Beanbuddy- no I haven't finished writing this story, I will never stop writing this story, well until it comes to an end or people stop reading. Great suggestion, BUT Rukia is only 13 weeks so the bump isn't really that noticeable. It's just a small almost bloating kind of look so its not really big enough to plot in that way. But I did love the suggestion and could see it play out.
TheOneWhoProtects- Well its here ^_^
zero09q- No this is not Rukia, its pregnant Rukia and alcohol inhibited Rukia. And yes what the hell Ichigo! Not like you were drunk too and Rukia snuck out of the bed in the morning and he remembers shit!
AnastaciaChaCha- whoever said I was finishing? Or abandoning it? 2 chapters? is that really what you think you readers are worth? ONLY 2! PSH! my readers are worth more than 2 lousy chapters.
Philisnotonfire- you wouldn't happen to be a danisnotonfire fan would you? If not, cool name ad thanks.
