Chapter 22.5: Evil God & Old Maou
(Chernobog)
We've missed our chance for the void mage, but that's fine. The fact that we know where all of the void mages are is enough for me. I'm sure our leader won't mind something like that. Even in he does, Lord Veles will convince him otherwise.
Louhi kept complaining that she didn't get to kill the Red Dragon Emperor, but I just ignored her and contacted Berstuk to let him know the situation so that he can report to Veles.
"Failed to claim the void mage, huh, Chernobog?"
I turned around and found someone standing there.
He was a tall figure with red skin, black fur and red eyes. His head was in an animal shape, but was an animal unique to him and his servants alone. Like Louhi and myself, he was dressed in the Evil God Faction's dark robe uniform.
Seeing him, I frowned.
"Set, what do you want?"
The guy, Set, he's the evil god of the desert and sandstorms in Egyptian Mythology. Original, it was his and his son, Sobek, job to capture Xena, but the Familiar of Void got in the way.
Set just smiled.
"I just wanted see a little more of this world. Did you know the elves named their land after my wife? And they even live in a desert. It's almost like its destiny or something like that."
"If you like it so much, then why don't you do something about it?"
Set looked over at Louhi.
"You might just have a point there, Louhi. Maybe as a practice run for our world. I did want Angra Mainyu to take my methods more seriously, and this is just what I needed."
I narrowed my eyes.
"When referring to the leader, you called him Leader A.M, not by his name. That's the rule, Set."
"Whatever."
He then turned around and summoned a magic circle. But, before he left…
"By the way, Chernobog, about Veles. Are you sure he's a true evil god?"
"Of course. His is the mortal enemy of Perun himself. What else can Lord Veles be?"
He shrugged.
"Just keep in mind that he did help humans."
With that, Set disappeared.
