I know it's been too long so I decided to make this even longer. If you're in the mood I suggest these songs while reading.
Creepers by Kid Cudi and I won by Kanye West/ Future by the wedding ;) This may or not be worth the wait, let me know anything that could make this story even better.
JULY 20th, Thursday Morning 8am
The rays of the sun forced my eyes to flicker open.
Fucking hell.
I woke up late.
My arms immediately stretched themselves.
As soon as my arms came back down, I remembered whom I was.
For those split seconds I forgot that I was a monster. I forgot that I was despicable in every way and form possible.
I couldn't justify myself anymore.
Before it use to be, nobody is perfect.
Then the excuse transformed into I didn't mean to hurt her.
It doesn't matter. She didn't deserve it, and now she's stuck with me.
I sighed.
I was Draco Lucious Malfoy, was indeed a monster. She had every right to hate me.
I sense that you've woken now? I smirked at her.
Yes, I answered.
There was a short pause.
The wedding is today you know.
Yes, it is.
I groaned loudly getting up.
I guess I'll see you there then?
Yes, Granger.
830 am
I showered changed into suit and jacket and made my way down the stairs.
Everything was being put together.
The house was already brighter than a phoenix's tail, this decoration just pushed that. Everyone was in green or red, both colors that burned my eyes whenever seen together. I had to blink a couple of times to adjust to it all.
I walked through the corridors to Hermione's room for the day where all her bridesmaids were.
I needed to see her.
That was until he stopped me…
"father?"
He looked at me straight blank faced. "Son."
"Er, is there anything I could do for you?..."
He smirked and placed his hand on my shoulder. I knew what this meant. "We need to talk son."
I groaned, "What now?"
I saw a flash of anger in his eyes but disappeared as fast as it appeared.
"A reporter is coming to interview both you and Granger," he let it set in, "I want you two to tell this story. Memorize it and repeat it with as much authenticity as possible. That's all I ask of you. I can't have the true story slapped on these ridiculous papers. Remember Draco, we have a name to protect and that one thing let you destroy."
I stared him down.
"Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you?"
I kept my cold gaze.
"Draco do you not understand."
"Yes, I understand, Father."
I knew he wanted to hit me with that cane of his. But he couldn't afford to do it on such a day.
"Good." He said coldly smiling, "Now, to less important subjects. I have a suit for you in my study room, it'll fit nicely."
"Okay."
"Alright."
I turned around and made my way for it.
Something about Father these days was incredibly off-putting; as if something was wrong about him.
Then again he finds pleasure in beating me.
Bastard.
9am
I found myself in the suit; it was normal but a bit more formal than my liking.
"Looking good mate."
I flinched to face my dark-skinned friend.
"Blaise!"
He gave me such a radiant smile that let me forget for just a moment of what I truly was.
He held is arms out where he was basically offering me a congratulatory hug. "C'mere mate."
It was a quick embrace with a good old pat on the back.
When he let go he gave me a slick smile, "Marriage, eh!" He laughed right after.
I chuckled a bit, "Yeah…Marriage."
"Don't be so surious, Malfoy. Are the nerves getting the best of you already? Ay?"
I shrugged.
"I don't deserve her, mate."
He rolled his eyes, "Yoo Draco, wake up! Put your head up! She chose you! She wanted you! She's always wanted you! C'mon, remember she agreed to marry you. Maybe you haven't completely redeemed yourself but c'mon! This means something."
Zabini's voice reeked of desperation.
All I could do was nod and let out a, "You're right."
"There's the spirit!" He smiled while give me a small shake. His faced popped into a quick 'O' in an instant, "I forgot! I got some firewhisky for us both mate!"
I flinched as he turned. I silently swore to myself I'd never touch that shit again.
I started shaking my head in disapproval before he caught me with more surprises, "No, Blaise. Not today. I can't handle that shit anymore."
He looked up at me confused.
"Oh, well…" he looked up a bit surprised, "er… I can make into something lighter…perhaps a light gin?"
He was trying. I had to give him that. "Okay fine, mate. But only a bit."
I knew I could still handle my liquor, I just did not feel the same excitement as I did in the past before. Something in me was different, I guess me trying to redeem myself has been actually sticking to me.
I still felt miserable deep inside me.
He handed me a cup he summoned, "Cheers, Malfoy!"
"Cheers, Zabini!"
In a way, this could be what Muggles called, 'A small bachelor party.' Ever since Hermione moved in here I've been trying to understand what these Muggles do and say in their strange and bland world of theirs.
"Ah," he said refreshed. "So!"
He smiled at me.
"What?"
"The ring, I gotta see it. Isn't it your mother's?"
"Actually…" I felt awkward saying this, "it is not"
He looked taken aback; before he could say anything I started. "I'm not the biggest fan of my father and anything I feel that he used before me actually feels tainted."
"What?" He scrunched his face.
"The bastard is evil, Zabini. I just can't have it be carried on my future wife nor any of my kids or grandkids."
"Wow," he mouthed. "I guess you have a valid point, but what exactly did he do to you? I mean, sorry if this comes off weird, but you use to praise the man until this year, what the hell happened?"
I closed my eyes and sighed, "Zabini, I don't even know where to start… maybe here." I cleared my voice. "Ever since I was a boy, I wanted to be just like my great and amazing Father, I did it. For a bit. Until that night mate…" I slowed down, "that night… I saw what I did through her eyes."
I scoffed.
"You wanna know what the real shit thing in this situation is, Zabini?"
"What?" he asked with a hint of eagerness.
I smirked when this came out, "I knew that I could turn it off Zabini. I knew I could…I just couldn't. Had it been my father… He would've ignored it and let her live off her life separate from his."
It was silent for a bit.
"Wait," he said, "turn what off?"
My face flashed to him, "You don't know?"
"No."
How could I forgotten to tell him?
I tried to think of the simplest way to tell him.
"I could see, hear and feel her… Anything she felt, I felt. When she resented me, I began to resent me. And now that she agreed to marry me, I loathe myself now. I don't deserve her mate! I really don't deserve-"
I got cut short.
"Draco! Oh my Merlin, there you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
No.
No.
No.
No.
"Wha-" Zabini let out before being cut short too.
"Oh hello, Blaise. Happy to see you here also," said the red headed girl.
I started to turn red with anger.
She could not be here. Not right now. Not today or ever.
Could this woman not take a hint?
"What are you doing here, Ginevra?"
She looked taken aback, "Don't talk to me that way, Draco, please darling. I got all glimmered and ready to see you today."
I closed my eyes and walked towards her.
My hands began to make movements with every syllable. "Ginevra. Do you what today is?"
She stayed silent for only a moment, "Duh," She said shaking her neck and a flip of her hand, "Your wedding to Granger."
I felt my blood boil a little bit hotter, "Okay… Do you that my fiancé is pregnant with triplets also, Ginevra?"
She rolled her eyes as if this was the least important fact of all, "Malfoy, I know you're only getting married to her because your forced to. I mean, c'mon your parents did not approve of them having bastard kids and now youre forced to be her 'dearly beloved."
I was red now, I felt myself melting in my clothes.
"I bet she was a good fuck too, huh Draco?" She egged on, "Nothing as good as me right? Ha! If I was with you I'd make you regret ever laying eyes on that mudblood-"
My first reaction would have been to flinch in surprise…but no not this time.
"Draco!" Zabini exclaimed.
"Calm down, it was only slap," I reassured him.
Though she was lying on the floor with a teary eyes and expression that just read 'betrayal' all over it.
"I wouldn't touch you if you were the last pure-blood in the world."
I fought the urge to spit on her face, but instead I only stepped over her and headed to the door.
Fuck that bitch.
Zabini followed me out; I could feel his surprise by the astonished look on his face.
"Mate. Do you realize what just happened in there? Do you realize you just hit her?"
"Calm yourself. It was just a slap."
He cleared his throat, "Maybe you're right… drinking really isn't for you…"
I just chuckled to that. If only he knew the harassment from that girl was starting to get to me.
How'd she find her way in here?
Was she even on the guest list?
Maybe she'd take the hint and leave right after this small confrontation. I mean, what kind of girl would stay after such a rejection?
A desperate one maybe…
People were heading outside.
It was getting to that time.
930am
If this were a normal wedding, I'd be getting cold feet, and Astoria Greengrass would be here.
But this is different from what I always imagined.
Astoria is Hermione, and Hermione has three little me's growing inside her belly. My family will be walking down that aisle.
To think I have a family already waiting for me.
Wow.
I really was lucky.
I didn't even deserve it.
"Blaise?"
"Yeah?"
I bit my lip, "Nevermind. Er… I mean… could you make sure I don't make a fool of myself while I'm up there? Im not quite sure what normal is anymore to be honest."
He laughed and only nodded, "We're all a little crazy in our own way Malfoy. Just some people are better at hiding it."
I smiled at my dark-skinned friend. He couldn't have been any righter than now.
"Draco!"
I shook myself back in the moment.
"Yes mother?"
Mother was glowing, but the worried look in her eyes added wrinkled that did not need to be there. But then there was the fact that she was a damn red dress. That damned color.
"Please hurry dear, everyone is already in their seats! You do remember what you have to do right?"
I had to think about that first, "Er yes."
We rehearsed this only a dozen times now.
Each time Hermione and me looked and felt absolutely more and more awkward. Especially at the 'You may kiss the bride' part.
I almost shuddered at the thought.
"Alright," she said, "Hermione looks absolutely beautiful, darling. Huge, but she's damn near perfect."
With that, she made her way outside to where everyone was already sitting.
10am, The Wedding Begins
My heart skipped beats. In fact, it missed several beats.
There was no coordinator to help us. We rehearsed this many times before it could be done with my eyes closed.
Blaise was the best man, he would go first.
I looked outside the clear door to view the wedding. All white, unlike everyone's colorful apparel this morning. It all made sense now; it all contrasted beautifully. Just like Hermione and me.
Who would've thought this day would be? I mean, wow.
As soon as Blaise made his place by the end of the aisle I began the walk.
It was the walk of a new beginning.
All eyes were on me.
They burned through me. Some expressions looked angry, family members that were not approving of this marriage and others with smiles from ear to ear.
Well Granger, I'm almost at the end of this walk…Are you ready?
This was the first time I spoke to her since this morning.
I didn't expect her to say anything at first, but she replied quite faster than I thought she would, Nope, but let's do this.
I smiled and chuckled openly.
My swaggered walk made me appear like the most confident man in the room, when in the inside I was trembling.
Blaise stood right behind me.
"This isn't a catwalk you wanker."
I laughed silently, "Fuck you, Zabini."
Hermione's bridesmaids consisted of only Tonks, the bloody cousin, and Luna Lovegood the loony.
Both wearing brilliant purple in their own styles. All these colors today would have given me a headache if it hadn't been for the fact that I prepared myself for anything this day. A damn color wasn't going to ruin this for me.
I'm next Draco…
I held my breath, I know, Hermione.
In that moment she walked out. Heads turned to see the beautiful bride.
Her dress looked nothing like any of the intricate dresses like in this wedding party.
It was simple, it was white, and she was damn farther than perfect. Lace covered her shoulders, and the rest of the dress seemed to fall down and skim that wonderful belly of hers.
No veil so I can see that delicate face of hers that held a small nervous smile.
It felt unreal.
Today was unreal.
How did I get this trophy?
I did not win this. I do not deserve this.
She was too much too look at.
I could not stop staring at her belly. My babies were in there. In fact I put them in there. Angels were in that tummy of hers. Our angels. And then there was that perfect woman making her way to me.
She was perfection, she was a prize. I had won a trophy.
I couldn't believe out of everyone in this world, I'm the one that took her.
I let my breath out. This wasn't even fair to her.
It wasn't until she made it to the end of the aisle that I noticed all the small details.
Loose long curls making its way down to her waist, while there was 'crown' made of white flowers place on her head.
Wow.
She looked like an angel.
Stop staring at me, you're creeping me out.
I laughed, Why not? I just can't help myself.
She rolled her eyes feeling as self-conscious as never. I looked to the crowd…all eyes were on us.
Wow again.
No wonder she was so nervous.
I was staring at Hermione so intently I didn't notice the eyes of everyone else.
I never believed in this saying but it was as if she was the only person in a room full of people.
The preacher began.
"Dearly beloved, we are here today to honor the marriage of Draco Lucius Malfoy and Hermione Jean Granger. With the day of their children's birth coming so soon, we are lucky to celebrate this future family's wedding day…"
His voice drone on…
I knew Granger stopped listening a while ago.
Her expression looked nervous still, maybe a little anxious also.
I mean the life of these babies relied on us getting married.
Because she loved them dearly, I loved them even more.
It was mix of herself and her pure love and then me.
I could hear the clicks of cameras.
This picture would most likely be the cover of the Daily Prophet tomorrow.
Don't be nervous Granger, after this, you won't have to worry about their lives anymore
She smiled at me.
Click! Another camera went off.
"So with that said, Draco Lucius Malfoy, do you take Hermione Jean Granger to be your wife, through sickness and in health, rich or poor?"
"I do."
He nodded then faced Hermione, "Do you Hermione Jean-"
"I do," she quickly said giggling after realizing how she cut him short.
I chuckled with the crowd.
"You may now exchange rings," he said.
Hermione reached into the bouquet where I assumed she placed her ring as I went to my trouser pocket to reveal the glacier of a stone.
She held her small hand out for me; when I touched it, I felt her warmth contrast with my coldness.
Wow once again.
Wow Draco. It's huge.
I smirked at her while she reached for my hand with the simple silver ring Mother surely helped her pick out.
She gave me a small smile.
"I know pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."
I felt Hermione's chagrin reciprocate onto me.
I swallowed hard.
We always skipped this part in rehearsal.
Fuck.
I thought fast.
Wildly blushing, then without thinkin I got on one knee and kissed her ginormous tummy.
"Oh!" She jumped a bit.
Blaise clapped his hands and chuckled which later turned into laughs.
I could hear her laughing with all the other voices of laughter.
"Yeah! Atta boy Draco!"
"Now that's our front page!"
"Smile for the camera!"
"Congratulations!"
Those were some of the commentaries from the crowd I received while giving Hermione's belly a nice kiss.
Behind all the laughter and applause I heard a shriek filled with absolute rage.
It was a female voice.
Like it was ready to pounce
It sounded ready to kill.
"Draco!" she shrieked bloody murder.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
I thought she left. I really thought she left.
Hermione sensed something wrong with me, Draco what is it?
Before I could answer, a drunken Weaslette holding onto the bottle of gin in one hand stood a couple of feet from us.
"Is that my bottle?" I heard Blaise's voice ask.
"This- isn't happ-ening!" She threw her hand lazily and pointed it directly at her stomach. She had her wand.
"Avada Kedavra!"
I gasped.
A giant green light shot straight at us.
This was it.
This was so fast.
I didn't have time to scream, instead I wrapped myself around her in the little time I had.
"Noooo!" I felt myself yell with my eyes shutting so tight I could have sworn I saw heaven right there and then.
What felt like many moments passed.
There were murmurs, but I didn't dare open my eyes.
What was left of me?- Wait no. Was she okay?
Hermione?
I sense her presence but she wasn't answering.
My eyes snapped open to look at her.
We were on the floor, but she was still intact and warmer than before.
She may have just passed out.
But she was alive.
I looked around, everyone was standing now. Shocked and frozen too.
Ronald Weasley was in the aisle huddled over his sister.
"Ginny! Ginny answer me!" He was shaking her now.
"Is there a mediwitch here? Anyone?"
After a couple seconds, the mediwitch that appeared in the visions with Hermione popped up and scooped over the red headed witch.
With a flick of her wand she mumbled a spell and a small red light popped up from the spell she had cast, "Deceased." It read.
There were gasps in the crowd.
My mouth fell open.
Ginevra Weasley was dead.
I looked back at Hermione, she was regaining consciousness.
"What happened?" she asked confused.
I opened my mouth but nothing came out.
I mean, what could I say that this scene could not explain?
Camera's began to click like crazy. I just knew, his was now the front cover page.
1034 Ginny Weasley is pronounced dead.
So by popular demand Ginny is gone from the story... :0
Let me know what else is needed/wanted! 3 thank you to everyone who took their time to review this!
