Chapter 4

Two weeks after Munnilist

Naruto utterly hated the campaign on Christophsis. He sighed as he walked into what was left of the command center. His mind had drifted to the events that brought all of them here. The parachute drop got half of his replenished company killed when some failed to deploy. Then there was the traitor in their midst, a rogue clone named Slick, who decided to ally with the seperatists. And to make matters even worse the traitor blew up most of their armor, as of now they barely had anything save for the heavy cannons. The blonde was shook out of his daze when Obi-wan Kenobi took his place at one end of the table that all of the officers were gathered around. The jedi spoke in the coruscanti accent that he always did "Gentlemen and lady , we've managed to push the Seperatists back but it's only a matter of time that they regroup and try again. Thus far the heavy cannons have been instrumental in holding them back as far as armor is concerned, other than that our troopers have been holding their own against the battle droids. Now, we need a way to turn the tide of this battle. Any suggestions?" Naruto was about to speak when an orange hand flew into the air, it belonged to Skywalkers apprentice Ahsoka Tano. "Why don't we…" she began only to be cut off by her "Master" who pulled her aside and chided her about being seen and not heard at the moment. It was then that Naruto made himself known "We could lure them into a false sense of victory, maybe get Loathsome to come to us himself." Then "The Kid" asked condescendingly "And how do we do that Captain?" to the blonde's credit he didn't rise to the tone and simply explained. "Loathsome knows by now that he won't get very far once his tanks are in range of the heavy cannons thus he will want a way to protect them at all times. He'll get a shield generator to protect his forces from all sides. If we could slip past his defenses we could knock out the generator thus leaving the general open to capture." And again Skywalker inturupted him by asking "How would you know where the general would be?"

Naruto mentally sighed and further explained "Every time the general has attacked he was in the front of his column of tanks, so if we have someone stalling him they would be able to capture him. Gaining us a victory." Obi-wan stroked his beard and nodded "Sounds good. But who should we send" Naruto stepped up and said "Sir, I should go since I made the suggestion." Again the Jedi nodded and said "When he attacks you will begin." Naruto nodded and left to gather a few supplies. Ten minutes later the blonde had gathered explosives into a backpack and made his way to the front where he met up with Stammer and Jinx, both saluted him as he spoke. "Stammer, Jinx, the two of you answer to Rex for the moment." Both of them audibly groaned knowing that on the hole they'd be under Skywalker's command. Naruto frowned and said "Look I know that this sounds like the worst thing imaginable but it won't be for a long period just about ten minutes." He paused and allowed Stammer to speak "Ten minutes is a long time sir. And not to sound rude to our esteemed General but life expectancy drops under Skywalkers command." Naruto nodded, it was clear that all of the troopers under his command had heard that the casualty rate in torrent company was the second highest in the Army. "You have a point, just make sure that the men stay behind cover." The two clones nodded and went to spread the news around to the men while Naruto studied a map of the streets to find an off ramp on the highway that reconnected a few yards from the diverging point.

It was an hour later that General loathsome decided to attack, he had his Droids in front and his tanks in the rear then he threw in some Droidika's into the mix to act as fast attack troops. Naruto watched this via a mirror from his position on the off ramp and began to feel guilty that he volunteered for this mission, but he quickly crushed that line of thought when he reminded himself that his men were just that men. The blonde crouched under the wall that provided a barrier to protect people from falling off. Once he was descending to rejoin the highway the blonde pulled out his mirror again and checked to see if the general had left any droids. Much to his delight there were about ten there all regular battle droids. Naruto breathed in deeply and then popped up from behind his cover. The battle droids turned to late as the blonde mandalorian sent a burst of blaster fire into the farthest droid with a DC-15 carbine in his left hand then used a pistol in the other to put a bolt in the head of the droid nearest him. The droids weren't idle however and fired back but Naruto had moved and ran towards them. The blonde holstered his pistol then moved his rifle into his right hand before he vaulted over a crashed speeder while shooting an arm off of a droid. Said droid was then used as a shield as Naruto blew another droid's head off and the rest to scrap. He now stood alone in an intersection with a shield generator beside him. Naruto wasted no time in getting to work as he placed his bombs on the generator. Once the bombs were set he stepped far enough away and pressed the detonator, he then broke out into a run as he heard the explosion behind him. Naruto smiled as his plan had gone off without a hitch, now all he needed to do was get back to the general.

It took him less than two minutes to find Obi-wan Kenobi had hand cuffed the general and was giving him to a few clones, said Jedi grinned upon greeting him as Naruto saluted and said "Mission successful sir." To which the Jedi replied "Very good captain, I'd order you to rest for the day but we have a problem. It seems that Jabba the hutt's son has been kidnaped and we've been ordered to find the baby hutt." Naruto shrugged and called behind his back as he went to rejoin his men "No rest for the wicked I suppose." Stammer and Jinx saluted him and followed the blonde as Stammer asked "Where to next sir?" their Captain grinned said "Baby recovery and sitting duty, as for who Jabba the Hutt's son. The kid went missing, as for where we'll know in a moment." Naruto turned to face the direction of the ship that had landed and was face to face with Janga, who stood at attention and sounded off "Sir, Sergeant Janga reporting." The blonde clapped her on the shoulder and said "Good to have you back, how's the arm?" Janga responded with a laugh and replied "Never better sir, but can you tell me who delivered the shot so I can kick their ass?" Naruto was about to reply before hearing the intership intercom go off "Captain Brelor please report to the bridge." The blonde took a deep breath then motioned to the two troopers behind him and said as he strode towards the elevator "I'll let these two fill you in on what happened"

Janga then followed Stammer and Jinx to the barracks, then when the trio were alone she crossed her arms and said "Spill it." Jinx grinned from ear to ear and began the events after the she-clone was evacuated. "Alright so it turned out that it was Skywalker who fired at us. Skipper was furious, never seen him so pissed. Anyway we rotated back to Coruscant and picked up supplies, well Skipper notices that the general decided to sneak off to the head. The Jedi had apparently eaten a bad batch of rations, and let me tell you he had a really bad day." The she-clone raised an eyebrow then turned to Stammer who provided translation "Captain took all of the tissue paper out of the restrooms and put them into the supply closets in the maintenance part of the ship." This caused all three clones to wince as Janga shuttered "Ugh, remind me not to piss him off. So I noticed that we have a kid aboard, who's she with? Stammer groaned and answered "She's General Skywalker's apprentice, he got promoted." He would have continued but their Captain made his entrance and said "We're going to Teth, Janga don't bother with a Z-6 just take a deece, everyone else, be sure to pack climbing equipment. The planet is nothing but plateaus and rocks. Also don't bother with parachutes, we won't need them." The fresh troops that just joined them gave a chorus of "Yes Sir." And went about gathering their gear. And then Naruto disappeared to head back to the bridge.

On the bridge Obi-wan went over the final strategy for the next Engagement. Naruto looked at the map in interest as he wanted to know why he was called here when the general gave orders on the ground. It looked as if the baby was being held in a palace that was on top of a narrow and very tall plateau. After getting the briefing about the gathered information from a few ARF troopers Obi-wan pulled the blonde aside and told him in a hushed whisper "Captain, I have an important mission for you. The Key that was sent to Coruscant never made it there, the ship was attacked in route and the crew was killed. In all likelihood Dooku has the key." Naruto sighed and whispered "Who else knows?" the bearded Jedi answered "Only a handful of Jedi and myself, after this mission we are going to make every effort to recover it." Naruto nodded and went to the hangar to join his men as the ship had reached its destination. Once there the blonde grabbed a rifle from a bench and boarded a shuttle, which took off and was piloted planet side. "Listen up, this is not a routine mission. Airborne we are tasked with retrieving the son of Jabba the hutt. So watch where you're aim and watch the trooper in front of you. We'll be landing under fire and will be climbing up a cliff face."

It was a few minutes later that the gunship landed, when it did two AT-TE carriers behind it were shot down. "Open the damn doors!" barked out Naruto as the ground was less than five feet below them. All of his troopers disembarked as spider droids sent blaster cannon bolts down onto their position. The blonde didn't think as he charged the cliff face and pressed his back up against it as his men followed suite. Naruto looked around and heard Skywalker tell his apprentice "Race you to the top." And the teen replied as any would "You're on." This made the blonde angry as he thought 'Idiot, thinks that this is a game. That kid of his is going to get killed if he keeps this up.' Then he noticed that no one, not even Skywalker, was making their way up so he barked "Hook up ascension cables!" The group of soldiers did and after a few seconds started to climb. Naruto gripped his rifle by the stock with his right hand and pulled out his pistol with the other. The climb up was going well with the spider droids that were on the cliff face being blasted by the AT-TE's, however there were battle droids that fired from a landing platform above them making many clones fall to their deaths. Naruto fired his pistol back in an attempt to get rid of at least one droid but then he heard a sound.

Naruto looked to the side as his eyes widened, there were STAAP speeders baring down on them. The droids that were on them fired at the men and walkers that supported them. The blonde wasted no time in firing back as he could hit the STAAPs rather easily. He aimed his pistol and fired three times. The first two shots hit the speeder and the final shot hit the droid in the head making the speeder veer off course. Naruto decided that he wanted to get on one and clear a path to the objective. Then he felt something. For an instant Naruto saw a red aura around him then felt a surge of energy. As if something had flicked on a switch and gave him energy to do just about anything. The STAAP continues toward them, Naruto back ejected off of the cliff and landed perfectly. The blonde's first course of action was to get behind the droids who were trying to figure out what had occurred. Naruto pulled out a pistol and shot every droid off of their speeders, then he ascended sharply and opened fire on the droids that were on the platform. Since the droids combat functions didn't include a cover system they just stood there and were subsequently blasted to bits. Naruto dismounted the STAAP just as General Skywalker rejoined him. The General had a scowl on his face as he strode up to the blonde soldier. "Captain Brelor, never do that again, the next time you break rank I'll demote you down to private is that clear?" he whispered in a harsh tone as the troopers climbed onto the platform Naruto bit his tongue and stiffly nodded. In the next minute that had followed all of the surviving troopers joined them on the platform, when the four officers got a quick head count they advanced. As the group of soldiers and pair of Jedi advanced through the monastery door a protocol droid made its way over to them.

"Oh thank you all for dealing with those ruffians, they have a prisoner down somewhere in the lower levels. Please do find it." Skywalker whirled to the two captains and pulled up a map of the monastery then said "Captain Rex and Captain Brelor, search the level below this one. My padawan and I will search the dungeons." Both troopers nodded and the three teams split up. Naruto found a set of stairs that led down as Rex came up behind him "This place gives me the creeps." He said, making Naruto glance at him for a moment before speaking "Don't fault you for that, I'll take the east wing. You want the west?" Rex nodded then called over his shoulder "Torrent company to the west wing." A column of troopers followed the captain down stairs, as Naruto's own followed suite. The troopers filled the hallway below them and headed east. Naruto took the lead and surveyed the halls as they filed down it with the trooper on the end checking the rooms little did they realize they were being watched. Stammer broke off at the second to last room and Naruto took the very last one. The blonde opened the door and peered inside, he looked to the left and scanned slowly to the right as he spoke into the comm. "All clear over here Rex. How's it on your end?" but all he got was static "Rex?" he called again as his gaze got to the right side of the room. Naruto heard a gasp of surprise which made him spin around to check on his men only to come face to face with a droid that pulled the trigger of his rifle and stunned the ARC Captain into unconsciousness.

Water splashed onto Naruto's face, the sensation made the blonde jolt awake. Naruto woke to the site of the woman who led Skywalker into the trap on Yavin 4. She noticed his eyes on her and spoke with a cackle "Captain Brelor, forgive me for not recognizing you when I fought Skywalker the last time. I was so preoccupied with trying to kill Skywalker that I failed to notice that I missed a worm such as yourself." Naruto looked down at the floor then smiled and said "That's a lot of talk from someone who wouldn't face me properly, you got your battle droids to do the work for you." Naruto choked in pain as he was lifted from his seated position on the floor. Then he was dropped back to the floor, there the blonde noticed that he, Rex, and the two Jedi were chained in the same room and all of them were awake. Then Naruto heard a wail, it made him look to his left to see a baby hutt. Ventress spoke with a searing tone to her voice "Now that you are all awake it's time to let you see the culmination of my master's plans, what will end this war for you republic scum." She motioned to an oblong box in the center of the room. Then she produced a key from a pocket in her robe and resumed her monolog. "This will be the instrument of your destruction. For the being in here is the great Exar Kun." Hearing this made a panicked look enter the two Jedi's eyes. Skywalker pulled on his restraints and yelled "No!" this made the super battle droids aim their blasters at the youngling, which prompted the older Jedi to be still. Then the bald woman sauntered to a locking mechanism on the coffin and inserted the key. Asajj turned the key clockwise and backed away as a hiss was heard. The lid of the artifact fell to the floor and crumbled into dust as a figure exited the coffin.

The room was now filled with smoke, which made it hard for anyone to see. A moment of near silence followed save for the hyperventilating of two Jedi. As for the blonde himself he waited with baited breath for the figure to reveal itself. To everyone's surprise the smoke cleared to reveal a woman who kneeled and dry heaved onto the floor. Naruto took the time to look her over and knew immediately that this was not Exar Kun, nor was it human. The woman had white hair and didn't look a day over thirty. She had pointed cat like ears on top of her head, identifying her as a cathar. When she was finished the woman stood up to reveal Jedi robes but no lightsaber. The cathar steadied herself on the caretaker droid who stood next to the coffin and opened her eyes to reveal a pair of yellow non-sith like eyes. It was then that an outraged Ventress activated one of her lightsabers and pointed it at the woman. Asajj snarled and yelled "You are not Exar Kun, who are you?" at the name of the sith the woman's dilated eyes turned into slits. Then an angered look took over her features as she whispered "Sith." Then the ground began to shake as all of the droids were crumbled like an artist would crumble up a paper. Ventress activated her other lightsaber as the woman used the force to wrench a lightsaber from the remains of the caretaker droid who had the Jedi's weapons and Naruto's sword in its grasp. The cathar female got into the opening stance of the form Djem So and growled out "I am Sylvar of the Jedi order, and you Sith will not taint this galaxy with your presence ever again!" and with that she used the force to push the dark assassin out of the room then followed closely in pursuit.

"Quick, we need to get Jabba's son to his father." Shouted Ahsoka who had her restraints cut by Skywalker whom retrieved his lightsaber and proceeded to cut everyone else out. The youngling ran to the hutt and picked it up as Naruto retrieved his sword then Skywalker said "Ahsoka I noticed that there was a smuggling ship parked outside. We'll use it to get the hutt back to tatooine." The two soldiers nodded and jogged as fast as they could outside. Once there both ARCs witnessed the utter chaos that had happened, both of their companies were firing at droids with CIS rifles. Naruto had seen enough and ran into the fray with Rex following closely behind. The blonde used scrap from a destroyed spider droid to jump high into the air and bring his sword down and cleave a droid in two. He then rolled and thrust it into the midsection of another droid as he took its rifle and tossed it to Rex who unleashed bolt after bolt into the droids that were marching up to face the six troopers that remained. A commander droid that was followed by several super battle droids aimed for the organics as it toned in an electronic voice "Hands up republic dogs, you have no chance." Naruto responded without missing a beat "We've got you out numbered!" it was then that a gunship flew out from behind the droids and tore them to shreds with their lasers. Said gunship hovered for a moment as Obi-wan Kenobi exited from it. Naruto saluted the general as he updated him on the situation. "Sir that coffin was opened but there was no ring only a person, a cathar." He whispered to the Jedi who nodded and asked "Where is the cathar?" Naruto replied "Somewhere in the monastery I think, fighting Ventress." Kenobi nodded and told all of them "stay here and guard the entrance. Captain Rex, do you know where my former padawan is?" Rex nodded and said "He was going to get the kid to Jabba with a ship on the far side sir." The Jedi sighed and muttered "He could never wait, anyway good job men. I'll go inside and see if I can find this cathar." And with that Obi-wan entered the monastery.

Upon getting into the foyer there were sounds of lightsabers crashing together and grunts of exhaustion. Obi-wan watched as Ventress stumbled into the foyer followed closely by the cathar. The negotiator activated his lightsaber when ventress was going to be struck down by the feline woman. "Wait!" the cathar held her lightsaber blade close to her opponents throat and eyed the human weirily. "I know you must be confused as to where you are, we need her alive. I am Jedi master Obi-wan Kenobi." He said as he motioned to himself. The woman eased her stance and introduced herself "Under the circumstances it's a pleasure master obi-wan. I am Master Sylvar. Tell me, why are we sparing this sith dog?" the negotiator sighed in relief that the woman had listened to him speak then he answered "She isn't fully sith, she wears the trappings of one yes but she is just an apprentice. The real sith is out there somewhere. We need her to lead us to him." Sylvar moved the green blade and said to the nightsister "On your feet." But she didn't anticipate Ventress's reaction. Said woman stood and threw a smoke bomb on the floor then made a break for it. She made it to the balcony and jumped into a ship that sped off before the Jedi could reach her.

Naruto and the rest of the survivors waited patiently for Obi-wan to exit and when he did he was accompanied by the woman Sylvar if he remembered correctly. Upon seeing him she sneered and whispered "Mandalorian filth." Naruto took a step back in case she decided to attack but was calmed when Obi-wan put a hand on her shoulder and said to her "He's with us. Don't worry, all will be explained soon." Sylvar nodded as a gunship pulled up and they climbed aboard. Naruto entered and heard the voice of the craziest clone to grace the GAR. "Captain Brelor, nice to see you still kicking about." The blonde smiled under his helmet as he addressed Screwball "Screwball, good to see you as well." The pilot laughed and headed to the cruiser that was in the atmosphere. Once there the troopers headed to the barracks while the officers went to the bridge. Naruto noted that Sylvar had a look of confusion on her face as they stood in the elevator. As soon as they reached the bridge Obi-wan tried to contact Skywalker but found that his padawan was the one who answered. "Master we're on our way to tatooine and…. Hey she has my lightsaber!" the young girl pointed to Sylvar who looked at the ground and said to the hologram "Apologies young one, rest assured I will return it to you when we meet again." The togruta frowned and Obi-wan cut in "Ahsoka tell my former padawan that he had less than three hours to get Jabba's son to the hut." The youngling nodded and said "Will do master Kenobi." And with that the transmission ended as Sylvar gained a look of being incredibly uncomfortable. Obi-wan noticed this and put a hand on her shoulder as he spoke "Master Sylvar, we will be heading to Coruscant soon. Please try and relax. We have a meditation room five decks below, Captain Brelor will show you."

Sylvar nodded and said "Very well master Kenobi, come mandalorian." Naruto followed the cathar into the elevator and headed down. When Obi-wan saw the doors close he contacted the council. Master Yoda answered the call and said "Master Obi-wan good to see you it is." Kenobi cut to the point and said "Master, the sarcophagus has been opened but there was no ring, only a woman known as 'Sylvar' is there anyone in the archives that matches that name?" it was then that Jocasta the keeper of the jedi archives came into the picture. "Master Kenobi, Master Sylvar was a jedi during the time of Exar Kun. She was the only jedi from her enclave to have survived the war with the Sith." At the sound of this Obi-wan's eyebrows raised and he asked "What happened to her?" Jocasta hummed for a moment before replying "She went missing, during the period before the mandalorian wars. From what you have said it seems as though she has been found alive after all these centuries." Obi-wan mulled this information over and asked "So she fought Exar Kun himself?" the elderly woman nodded and said "She not only fought him, she trained with him."

On Yavin 4

Kaster smiled in elation as his associates brought in the two others for the ritual. One was a death row inmate who was known for eating other sentients, and the other was a body builder from Iridonia. Both were unconscious as he dragged then to different sections of the room. They had their heads over bowls that leaked into carved out sections of the floor that led to the coffin in the center of the room. Kaster looked up to the moon and smiled as Pavin cried. He looked over to the tied up man and said "You should feel honored doctor, I'm using you for this ritual. Which means that you will help Exar Kun arise again." The former bodyguard then proceeded to slit their throats one by one. The blood dripped into the carved out sections of the floor which drained into the coffin. Kaster gained a look of excitement as he opened the lid then backed away from it as a figure rose up from the inside. It looked like a decaying body despite the blood that was already fed to it. The ghoulish thing opened its sunken eyes to reveal red ones which honed in on the only breathing thing in the room. Kastors smile faded when it looked at him, then he paled as he remembered the last part of the inscription. The force vampire smiled revealing fangs as it charged the human who screamed as he fulfilled the last part of the inscription. Death did indeed come on swift wings to the man who opened the coffin where the beast resided.

Two hours later on Coruscant

Sylvar sat in the meditation room of the Jedi temple mulling things over, it was very confusing for her to see the core world in a magnificent state as it was all things considered. She had learned that it had been thousands of years since the fall of Exar Kun. The mistress of the archives had been patient with her if not a little fan girlish in seeing that she was who she said she was. In the two hours that she had been there Sylvar learned much that had happened. The republic was once again at war, but with itself, and that somewhere out there was a sith lord waiting in the wings to reveal himself. Upon finding out that her fellow Jedi needed as many able warriors that they could muster she volunteered to be a "General" to the clone army, and even promised to make amends to the Captain that she had insulted upon seeing that he was a mandalorian. When she found out that the blood thirsty mandalorians were now pacifists she was stunned into silence. "Master Sylvar?" the Cathar looked to the source of the voice to find the youngling Ahsoka standing there with Obi-wan and the mandalorian. "Ah youngling, I do apologize for taking your lightsaber." She said as she stood and handed the weapon to the girl who smiled and accepted the apology and the weapon. Then Obi-wan took the time to speak "Master Sylvar, since you offered you help in the war the council has decided to choose a trooper for you to be with and a company to lead. You've already met Captain Brelor. He's in charge of the Five hundred sixth airborne infantry. You will be his commanding officer." She nodded and bowed to the soldier and said "Captain I do apologize that I insulted you before we met. Bigotry and ignorance got the better of me." Naruto stood at attention as he replied "It's quite alright ma'am, I would have done the same had I been in your position." She then smiled and said "Walk with me Captain there is much we need to discuss." The blonde nodded and followed her out of the room as the others looked on after them.

A/N well that wraps up chapter four. Now to all those who have given me ideas on who I should bring forward know that I considered every one of them carefully but I chose Sylvar because she trained with Exar Kun and her ultimate fate in unknown.
