Chapter 11: What's This?!

"I still can't believe this fits me…" Kagami mumbled as he struggled with a necktie. He grumbled and cursed every time the necktie would slip out of his fingers, talking about having patience.
"Are you done or need some help? You refused any of it like three times already and it's getting on my damn nerves." Natsumi mumbled from the doorway of the guestroom, watching Kagami fondle with the necktie.
"Why do we have to wear suits anyways?!" Kagami grumbled, throwing the offending piece of cloth across the room, which it landed on the bed. Natsumi rolled his golden eyes and approached the bed to reach for the necktie.
"It's an tuxedo, Kagami-kun" Natsumi corrected, appearing beside an irritated Kagami who glared at the cloth in Natsumi's grasp.
"Whatever… Makes no difference." Kagami huffed. Like, literally, he huffed. "This will be the last time I'm wearing that thing…"
"It does make a difference." Natsumi argued, his golden eyes glaring at Kagami who flinched, before averting his gaze onto the necktie. "It's a necktie."
"Can't I just go without it?"
"No." Natsumi deadpanned. "I wouldn't have give a damn but as you can see, I do."
"F-Figured…" Kagami gulped. Natsumi sure is a demon when it comes to certain things that does not appeal to his likings.
"Allow me to adjust it for you and don't refuse." Natsumi said, beckoning Kagami to come closer. Kagami hesitated with reluctance before sighing and did as he was told. He did took the opportunity to measure how tall Natsumi is, which did actually surprised him. Natsumi is only a couple of inches taller than him, in between Midorima's height and Murasakibara's height, did he scowled. Natsumi caught this gesture, yet he refused to say anything about it, instead, he rose a questioning eyebrow. He was about to clasp the necktie on the collar until he saw said collar was roughly wrinkled. A animated vein popped at the side of his head while nudging a fist against Kagami's head.
"H-Hey!" Kagami protested, feeling the fist nudge his head painfully.
"Why must you be so useless…" Natsumi mumbled, taking his fist away from Kagami's head and settled onto the collar. He started to tidy and unwrinkled the collar while Kagami looked away, scratching his cheek sheepishly. "Just look at what you did, you useless fiend."
Kagami gaped at Natsumi with a incredulous look. "Fiend?!"
"If you had asked for help, you wouldn't be questioned about your appearance." Natsumi mumbled, clasping the necktie in place after he tidied the collar. Kagami's shoulders slumped a bit as he noted a upset tone in Natsumi's words. He doesn't know why he feels guilty but he did. The feeling was there and he decided to apologize to Natsumi, since that guy was lending him his tuxedos.
"Look… I'm sorry.." Kagami sighed. Natsumi backed away a bit, to look if the necktie wouldn't fall off before setting his gaze onto Kagami's who averted them quickly.
"Why are you apologizing?" Natsumi boldly questioned, throwing Kagami off guard. Small devil wings and tail sprouted behind him as Kagami flailed his arms.
"First you're upset because of the collar and now you're asking why I'm apologizing?!" Kagami panted out.
"Why are you yelling at me?" Natsumi scowled, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Because it's ridiculous!" Kagami flailed again. "How can you be upset and question at the same time?!"
"Now, now, Kagami." Kiyoshi happen to be standing in the doorway of the guestroom, waving a hand to signify Kagami to drop it. "That is not the right way to thank Natsu-kun for his kindness."
"It's Natsumi." Natsumi corrected. Kiyoshi approached the other, patting his shoulder with a friendly gesture.
"Tsk," Kagami snorted. But it was kind of hilarious, seeing Natsumi being treated like a small child by Kiyoshi, but he sure didn't want to face Natsumi's wrath.
"Bug off." Natsumi mumbled and he exited the room with a amused smirk. He continued down the hall, seeing his team members gathered, did he decided to inspect their tuxedos.
"Ah, Natsumi-kun! You look splendid!" Fukuda commented once he set his eyes onto the tall figure who approached them. The team agreed and nodded while Natsumi nodded, not really into his appearance. Natsumi is wearing an elegant tailcoat with golden linings running down the edges, accompanied by white gloves and matching dress pants. The dress shoes sparkled with elegance, giving the impression they were well taken care of. Natsumi's right gloved-hand held a top hat by his waist while his violet hair has been braided carefully for it to be put at his right shoulder. With his height, Natsumi sparkled entirely with elegance, seeming almost like a handsome doll.
"No doubt, since it is the Natsumi-kun we're speaking of" Kuroko spoke, startling everyone except Natsumi. Natsumi raised a questioning eyebrow but shrugged either.
"Enough about me," Natsumi started. "We'll go eat our breakfast, relax for a bit, and then practice the waltz if you wish to enjoy yourselves in the ballroom."
"Sweet!" Both Furihata and Fukuda grinned while both Izuki and Mitobe just smiled at those two. Hyuuga join the group, looking elegant in his borrowed tux.
"So... we're required to dance?" Hyuuga asked, staring at Natsumi with a sweat-drop at the back of his head, who stared from head-to-toe with a calculative stare. "Is there... something wrong with the tux?"
"Hm? Oh, no. In fact, you're wearing it perfectly. Just like the rest." Natsumi grinned, startling Hyuuga even further. "And yes, you are required to do so since there will be ladies that will need to be... entertained." Natsumi whispered the last word with a knowing smirk. He was, in fact, never used to being around girls for he never bothered to go near them. He doesn't like their flattering, flamboyant and girly attitudes, it makes him so annoyed that he'll just leave. He doesn't have any problem with the maids in the Mansion, they aren't that alienated as the girls outside of the Mansion, he sure is grateful for that. Although his father talks with him about meeting other girls, Natsumi ended nodding off into a nice nap while his father blabbed on and on. That's how little interest Natsumi has when it comes to that type of topic, not that he denies it. 'Besides... I don't want to ruin my youth...' Natsumi thought, sighing.
"I've got news!" Riko announced as she approached the group, her clipboard in hand. "We're having a friendly match on Tuesday, against Tenkio High. After the friendly match, we'll be on our daily practice session-"
"Really?!" Both Furihata and Koganei exclaimed while Izuki, Mitobe, Fukuda, Tsuchida, Kawahara, Kiyoshi, Hyuuga, and Kuroko gathered around Riko. Natsumi just stood nearby, his gaze focused on the wall in front of him with a little hesitation in them. 'Tenkio High...' Natsumi ponders. 'Sounds familiar... Where have I heard it from?'
"I believe I heard a rumor about their flooring was nice." Hyuuga started.
"Was?" Questioned Kiyoshi, a raised eyebrow in curiosity.
"Gee, I don't know if it's true!" Hyuuga grumbled at Kiyoshi who raised his hands in defense. "It's just a rumor I heard!"
"They had a pretty tough time on their first year of basketball but then it increased from time to time." Fukuda said. "Are they that good?"
"No worries! We got Natsumi on our side!" Koganei grinned.
"Even so, he wouldn't use his full potential," Hyuuga paused, glancing toward Natsumi's direction. "..Right?"
"Hm?" Natsumi hummed in question, seeing all pair of eyes on him. "What did I do?"
"You weren't paying... attention..." Hyuuga said in a annoyed manner.
"Of Tenkio High?" Natsumi questioned, tilting his head to the side for a better effect. Hyuuga soon realized that he couldn't help being mad at Natsumi whenever that jerk makes that face and posture. "Of course I was paying attention."
"Was?" Kiyoshi teased. Natsumi glared at him before turning his attention back to Hyuuga, mumbling about throwing a certain someone out the nearest window.
"I prefer to use my own skills and not on what I'm really capable of since it's really traumatic." Natsumi replied. "I didn't even use my full potential when faced against the Generation of Miracles, although I did kinda struggled against Aomine-kun's Zone mode-"
"You didn't even looked like you struggled!" Kagami snorted as he approached the others. "You just passed by so easily and even blocked his path!"
"That's what you witnessed.." Natsumi mumbled. "Or saw it as... but I have to admit it's true... somewhat."
"Wait, what did you meant by traumatic?" Hyuuga questioned. Natsumi shrugged his shoulders and turned to head toward the stairs. "Oi!"
"Who knows, no other team has made me even go into my Unleash mode." Natsumi mumbled, a bit lowly but loud enough for the others to hear him say those words. Hyuuga was now having side-thoughts, realizing that they didn't actually witnessed the Unleash mode that Natsumi speaks off. 'The way he said it... makes it seem as bad as his personality...' Hyuuga thought.
'Now that he mentions it... we haven't even seen the true Natsumi...' Izuki ponders, brows furrowing. 'Meaning... even though the Generation of Miracles played together once again... Natsumi didn't have a problem against them... We haven't even seen him be fierce... what is this telling us?'
'There's something Natsumi is not telling us... I have this weird feeling about him... Of course, he's in our team, obviously, but he's so distant... Like he's not part into the team...' Riko thought, biting her lower lip in hard thinking. 'His abilities are already extreme without using his full potential... yet he seeks for a challenge... but what does he really want? Does he hate being gifted? Agh, there's so many questions left unanswered! Screw his potential!'
While Riko is busy pulling her strands of hair, Kuroko started to ponder about Natsumi as well as the others. 'Traumatic... It reminds me of that day when I was the sixth Phantom player of Generation of Miracles, back in Teikou Middle... Could he mean that his Unleash is destructible? Or cold? With no actual feeling in playing or the enjoyment of the sport? I can only come up with an solution that it might be... whoever confronts him in his Unleashed mode... that opposing team will suffer greatly...'
'It's quiet... terribly quiet... I think I'll die...' Koganei thought, animated tears flowing down his cheeks while he nervously glanced at everyone bit settled his gaze onto Furihata and Mitobe who nodded in agreement. 'Well... not entirely...hahaha.'
As the others kept on pondering for any solution to the case, Natsumi descended the stairs to head toward the living room, somehow it was noisy in there. It's true that he was not driven out of his ability, he always held back and preferred to struggle without using any potential. He wanted to feel independent, away from that burden of a power. He doesn't need it, he doesn't want it, nor does he plan to use it throughout his years. 'Sheesh... if there were a herb or a magician to strip me from this burden... I'd do anything to obtain it... Selfish as it sounds but I don't want something when I'm not planning to use it...It's not like all basketball teams are weak... that's not the case. The case is just that I feel like with one blow, I can terminate and crush their dreams if I do plan to use my full power and I don't want that...' Natsumi thought, scowling as he neared the living room, not before nodding a greeting to the maids who bowed at him. 'What I seek... is finding myself in this irrational world. There's too many paths to choose from and to think carefully about before deciding one. It's complicated, when I don't even have a path for myself to step and follow on... the ground beneath my very own feet seem to disappear into nothing, as if drowning under a cold ocean with an endless depth... Back then, I didn't felt it this way... But right now, it's like carrying two dead bodies over my shoulders than just the duty of Trump Card...' Natsumi sighed and shook his head, thinking about matters like that should be dealt with alone and in private. For now, he'll focus to the present. Upon reaching the living room, he noticed some maids bringing in pastries and books into the living room. Curious, he entered without making a sound, planned to get whoever was in there, by surprise.
"What's with all the-" Natsumi started, only to step back a bit in surprise at the scene before him, of course, his handsome face refusing to show any emotion. "Wait... Are those my..."
"Kyaa! Natsumicchi looks cute in this one!" There, on a white bean bag, sat Kise who held a small picture of Natsumi when he was younger, wearing a sailor outfit with a deadpanned expression yet his cute face betrayed the expression. Natsumi raised a questioning eyebrow, only to glance around and found the whole Generation of Miracles were there, looking at all the album pictures of Natsumi. 'I did told them that they're invited to the party... but not about my life...' Natsumi thought, an animated sweat-drop at the side of his head. 'There's only one person I know who wouldn't mind sharing these type of things... and that's-'
"There's more over here, this one is when he had a school field trip to the aquarium." Ruushiro said, passing another album to Akashi who grasped it quickly yet gently in order to not mess with the material. "And this one is when he first entered a swimming team at age nine. He was very energetic when it came to that sport, although he looks like he's out to hunt me while he swam." Ruushiro laughed, Akashi secretly smiled as he observed the photo that Ruushiro mentioned. Indeed, the photo was taken while Natsumi swam, his expression one of a predator who's ready to come out of the water and strangle whoever dared to take a shot.
"Ah! This one is when Bocchan started his first steps early." A maid pointed a photo for Midorima to look at also. The maids within the room were there, guiding and giving information to each member, unaware of Natsumi's presence in the room.
"Never knew he looked this good.." Aomine commented, observing a photo with Natsumi awkwardly posing for the camera with another kid. The maid sitting next to Aomine giggled at his comment.
"Bocchan was not used to be photographed when he was still a child. I think he still does not like it." The maid giggled, Aomine snorted but stared at that photo for a while. 'He's actually pretty good for posing, that I give.' Aomine thought, a playful smirked twitched upon his lips.
Natsumi just stood there, not planning to say anything at all but since he's busy with some matters, he might as well treat the new guests before doing so.
"Busy looking over my irrationality, I see." Natsumi started, everone in the room froze at those words in which Natsumi rolled his eyes at the given impression. "Welcome to the Natsumi Mansion, I hope the hospitality we give is on good terms."
"Ah! Natsumicchi!" Kise bolted up, the other members did so, not before hugging the albums to themselves, applying no damage to them.
"Natsu-chin is kind, he shall not worry." Murasakibara said, comfortably looking through the album with interest. Natsumi raised an eyebrow but decided not to pressure on the matter. For now.
"It looks like you're not even bothered by them viewing your childhood, Natsumi-kun." Kuroko appeared behind Natsumi, who stepped aside.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of, although I do dislike being photographed.." Natsumi replied, crossing his arms. Kise, Midorima, Akashi and Aomine shared looks between them, clearly showing confused expressions. Natsumi wasn't the type to be ashamed of his albums, he doesn't give them any thought. He doesn't understand why others would rather have their albums hidden, burned or just plainly hidden somewhere. Is it really that embarrassing? He doesn't know, he doesn't care about his own so he wouldn't know.
Just as Natsumi and Kuroko started talking about said albums and past hobbies, Murasakibara came across with an envelope that held other extra photos. Well, it did read 'Extra Photos', so he opened it and started to view them. His eyes widen as he scanned through them, his jaw hung a bit while the others caught his sudden expression and gathered around him, still holding onto the albums they prefer to repeat looking.
"What is Murasaikbaracchi?" Kise questioned, only to gap in shock at the photos.
"W-What's...!" Midorima started, his eyes were also widened.
"..." Both Akashi and Aomine were speechless to say anything at all. Those photos. Those sexy photos. Are ones that they should ENTIRELY HAVE! The photos showed a cosplaying Natsumi, dressed in various other anime-related cosplays while a group of cosplayers stood behind him, posing as well. Some were individually, others were in one full group after the other and finally, the last were the ones about him actually performing a cosplay skit dance and having his phone filled with the voice actors/tress' phone numbers. Who ever knew he was a anime fan?!
"Is he cosplaying Amane Nishiki?! I have BlazBlue game!" Kise squealed. Seriously. He squealed.
"Kamui Gakupo?" Midorima questioned.
"Yuu Kanda?" Aomine questioned, reading the back of the photos.
"Yoite.." Mursakibara named another.
"Sasuke Uchiha"
"Sebastian Michaelis"
"Tomoe"
"Lelouch"
"Zero?"
"Izaya"
"Shizuo"
"Celty?"
"Beyond Birthday"
"L? The hell?"
"Alucard?"
"Kyoya"
"Ed"
"Ichigo"
"Neko?"
"Gilbert"
"Japan? Ah! I read Hetalia!"
"Akira"
"Luka Crosszeira"
"Luze Cross... what?"
"Crosszeira, Daiki."
"Oh.."
"Those are my cosplay photos." Natsumi interrupted their naming, gathering their attention. "So what? I'm proud being an otaku. Don't like it, the doors are open." Natsumi smirked, a predatory smirk which sparked and made them shiver. Yes, he's proud being an otaku. He has been cosplaying ever since his twin brothers got him into anime and he attended any anime convention., cross-dressing multiple times, venturing around, purchasing new volumes, etc. He has a box full of other cosplaying photos, so it's hard to determine how many cosplay costumes he has in his second room.
"What's this?!" Hyuuga questioned, appearing in the living room, having heard the conversation. "You're an otaku?!"
"Your words mean no thing, say but ignore, and," Natsumi paused, not letting Hyuuga speak at all. "Your argument is invalid. For the rest of you, please do head to the dinning room for breakfast."
"What the hell?!" Hyuuga exclaimed, Kiyoshi patted his shoulde once he caught up with him. "I thought he was not into those things!"
"You do know that looks can be deceiving?" Kiyoshi smiled, earning a kick from Hyuuga. "Agh!"
"Shaddup!" Hyuuga huffed, noticing the photos scattered on the coffee table, did he ventured over and took a look. "W-What's this?!"
"Can I-" Kiyoshi started.
"No!"
"...keep one.."
"!"
" Hehe~"
