A/N: Hey guys! Can't believe I have another chapter out. But per typical me….I'm going into hiding again. Sorry, sorry! But I'm in the process of moving out. And as soon as I get settled in my new apartment….classes start again. But you know me. I might disappear for weeks, months, years in some cases (Sexy Chuckle being the prime example), yet I will always come back with many more new chapters!
This man was inconceivable.
Since the run in with Walt at the café, Horus and Carter have been on a few successful dates. Carter's enjoyed all of their dates, even that odd date at the Predatory Birds Rehabilitation Facility. It was interesting to see the business tycoon play the every day role of bird enthusiast.
Carter smiled, remembering the joy he saw when Horus was able to go into the Hawk habitat with an employee. Who would've thought that Horus could act like a five-year old boy!
Each time they met up, Carter could see that Horus was getting more and more…likeable.
And now, here they were going through a wedding catalogue curled up together on Horus' couch. Carter sat against Horus' side, the Egyptian's arm around him as he looked over Carter's shoulder. They were tucked underneath a single blanket that kept them warm and comfortable as a violent blizzard continued outside.
"Who ever thought to have a cotton candy wedding must be out of their mind," muttered Carter, flipping the page to hide the monstrosity.
"I'm glad you have taste," chuckled Horus as he stopped Carter from flipping any further. "I must say I do like this beach wedding here."
"No way! There will be sand everywhere!" Carter shook his head, smacking Horus' hand away and kept flipping. "So, cotton candy or beach weddings."
"No need to get physical."
"If I don't, how will you learn?" asked Carter, shifting into a more comfortable place with his feet propped up. Reaching over the side of the couch with his other hand, Carter grabbed his cup of water. "I don't get why we have to have this huge outlandish wedding. I'd rather just have something small and private with friends and family."
Horus hummed in thought. "If we do something small and private, there's no guarantee that I get to see you in a dress."
Carter spun around glaring at his fiancé. "I'm not wearing a dress!"
"Please?" Horus leaned forward, resting their foreheads together.
Carter blushed at the sudden intimacy, as he mumbled, "No."
Gently, Horus took the catalogue and placed it on the floor as he leaned over Carter, forcing the smaller man to lie back on the couch. "Don't make me beg."
"You already did."
"Mmm, I guess I did." Horus nuzzled Carter's neck with their fingers interlaced. "And yet here I am, without any promise of you in a dress."
Pouting, Carter moved his head away and stared out the floor to ceiling windows. The blizzard was getting worse by the looks of it. "I'm not cross-dressing for the world to see."
Horus pulled back with a smirk. "Then how about just for me to see?"
Carter looked away from the window. "Y-You?" The thought of wearing something so…embarrassing…and for Horus? Could he do it?
"Mhmm, for me." Horus slipped a hand out of Carter's, brushing gently against Carter's flushed cheek. "I want to see you in a dress. Floor length or short length. Lacy or silky. Rumpled or orderly."
A kiss lingered on Carter's neck, eliciting a small moan.
"I-I should've k-known you were a hu-huge p-pervert!" complained Carter, arching his back as a warm hand slipped under his shirt. Horus' hand explored undisturbed with amazing talent.
"So is that a 'yes'?"
Horus didn't give Carter a chance to reply before capturing Carter's lips. It wasn't their first kiss, but that rushing feeling hasn't calmed in the slightest. Carter still felt like his world was falling away and all that was left was he and Horus. There was no better feeling in the world. It's as if…as if…
"M-More," moaned Carter, eyes squeezed shut. They still had one hand clutched together; the only thing that was keeping Carter anchored to the world.
Horus pulled away slightly, to look down at his flushed fiancé. "That didn't sound like a 'yes'."
Carter's eyes snapped open, glaring. To Horus, he looked more like a ruffled kitten trying to seek revenge but kept tripping over its clumsy limbs. Or in a single word, cute.
There was a knock at the front door.
"Expecting someone?"
Horus shook his head, sitting up and helping Carter. "Not at all. You?"
"Only my family knows I'm here today, and they're all stuck in Egypt right now."
Horus stood up, not without stealing another kiss from Carter. "Well let's see who it is, shall we?"
Even though they've shared many kisses, and make-out sessions like the one before, Carter still blushed when Horus kissed him so chastely. But it made him happy to know that Horus would kiss him so gently as opposed to the few pictures he's seen from the paparazzi that showed Horus being….well obnoxiously aggressive. Not that it wouldn't excite Carter, but soft moments… Those were the ones that mattered just a bit more.
And that was another thing, all crazy frat-boy outings that Horus used to take part in practically every day, have stopped. The man now was only seen in the news about attending some boring work conferences or galas. Carter is thankful he has yet to be dragged to one.
Fixing his shirt, Carter followed Horus to the front door.
What was on the other side of the door was not what the happy couple expected.
"The hell is this?" asked Horus, not impressed. Carter yelped when he saw the gun pointing directly at Horus' chest. He ducked back behind Horus, hands grasping the back of Horus' shirt.
"…well this is unexpected," drawled the amused voice of the gun's owner. "I must say, you find yourself in the oddest of situations."
Horus rolled his eyes, not moving. "And most of those are your fault."
"True, true." Clicking the safety back on, the gun was tucked away. "Is that your future wife to be?"
Horus felt Carter shake his head against his back, clearly not wanting to meet his idiot of a cousin. So Horus decided to take another direction. "What are you doing here, Anubis? Did you miss the blizzard going on outside?"
Amused black eyes looked up into bi-colored eyes. "Funny story that. It seems you've made a new enemy in an unsuspecting place, dear cousin."
"Cousin?" asked Carter, bravely sticking his head back out, looking timidly at Anubis before looking up at Horus. "Your cousin greets you with a gun?"
"Not typically," grunted Horus, rolling his eyes again.
"At least once a month," corrected Anubis, tucking his hands into his pockets with a gentle smile. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Carter." Anubis held his hand out, calmly waiting to see what Carter would do.
"I'm not sure if I can say the same," he replied, before deciding to shake Anubis' hand. Anubis' smile grew as he pulled Carter's hand up to his lips.
"Ah, not to worry, dear future cousin of mine. We protect family first."
Horus nodded, before welcoming Anubis in. "Since you're here, might as well join us."
Carter stepped out from behind Horus and made his way back to the couch, followed by the two other men.
"With what?" Anubis settled himself on Carter's other side, smoothly slipping under the cover as well.
Carter didn't even flinch as Anubis made himself comfortable, figuring it had to do with the man's unique personality. Plus, Horus didn't seem to mind, so Anubis had to be okay, right?
"Wedding details. Carter's against a beach wedding."
Anubis nodded. "With good reason. Sand's a bitch to get out."
"Thank you!" exclaimed Carter. He turned a ruffled look to Horus. "He gets it."
Horus rolled his eyes, arm slipping around Carter's shoulders again. "Okay fine, no beach wedding. But the honeymoon…"
Anubis snorted. "I think this blizzard is getting to you."
"Oh shut up," sighed Horus. "You were saying why you were here?"
Anubis nodded, leaning back. "Ah yes. Do either of you know a Walt Stone?"
Carter froze as Horus glared.
Anubis nodded as if the question of the universe was answered. "Thought as much. He was going on and on about some asshole, that's you cousin-dear. How you got in between him and, I apologize in advance for saying this Carter, his 'bitch'." Anubis gently patted Carter's hand when the younger male tensed. Horus on the other hand tightened his grip around Carter, leaning over and kissing Carter's temple. "I wasn't paying attention to his ignorant ramblings, as I was with father when it happened." Horus rolled his eyes at the mention of his hated uncle. "Yet somehow, I get a call to come here and deal with the situation."
Horus nodded, one of his hands absent-mindedly brushing on the back of Carter's neck.
"I think father was just done listening to him complain."
Carter looked between the two of them with a furrowed brow. It was as if they were having a second silent conversation and he was only understanding bits and pieces of it. Quite frankly, it was painting a picture he wasn't sure what to make of.
"Carter, you and Anubis stay here and pick a theme. I'll be back in a few hours." Horus stood up grabbing his keys and phone.
"But there's a blizzard!"
Horus came back over, leaning over the back of the couch to steal a kiss from protesting lips. "I'll love anything you pick."
Anubis spoke up, "Anything? Because these things can get pretty expensive."
Horus shrugged. "Carter knows my thoughts on the matter."
"And those are?"
Horus and Carter shared a fond look, surprising Anubis at the emotion between the two. He hadn't thought their relationship advanced so far in the past few months.
"I'm buying."
