"I so missed you darling." Teana's mother told her daughter as they sat, eating their supper.
Teana smiled warmly, wiping her mouth with a cloth. "As did I mother; I missed spending my day with both you and father."
"Yes, we especially missed dining with you dear." King Hassan added. He cleared his throat. "So, Atem. How are you enjoying your stay here in Nubia?"
Atem swallowed his food. "Quite well sir. I am comfortable. Nubia is a grand place. I can see why Teana is so fond of her homeland."
The King nodded as the Queen smiled. "So how is the baby treating you Teana?"
Teana smiled uneasily. "Uh, well... it caused me to feel a bit ill towards the beginning, but luckily this did not follow. I am not having much trouble, except I feel as if I have acquired quite the appetite." She answered truthfully.
Her mother nodded and then paused as if thinking. "Yes, if I recall correctly, when I was expected...with you of course, I had quite the craving for mixed berries and dates."
"Really?" She asked. "I too, have a quench for dates all of a sudden. I also constantly desire sweet peaches and apples, oh and roast meat."
"Quite the combination." Atem remarked.
"I am sure Atem would very much take pleasure in carrying another person inside him for 9 months." She grinned.
Atem scoffed. "Oh no I would not. I for once, admit defeat!"
King Hassan shook his head. "Trust me, it will not be the only time, now that you are wed."
"Father!"
"What? I raised my daughter to be trained in diplomacy and converse, did I not? My daughter is quite skilled in her persuasion." He winked.
Teana laughed, agreeing. "That you are right Father."
Her mother chuckled while shaking her head. Upon seeing his wife, the King added, "Well, she is like her mother."
"How amusing, I was always told she took after you in that respect."
"Love, Teana is a splitting image of you. She clearly got the compliments of her mother's beauty."
The Queen blushed. "Well... and all of the personality of her father vice versa."
Teana's father shrugged. "Well it seems that way..." Atem commented observing them.
"Yes, yes." Hassan agreed. "She just also happened to acquire her mother's wit and cleverness in getting her husband to do what she wants. Watch out Atem." He jokingly warned.
Atem chuckled. "I shall be sure to keep this in mind." Teana just rolled her eyes.
Atem had enjoyed his visit to Nubia, but a week had finished. It was time for him to go.
Atem sighed. "I shall miss you." Teana whispered to him.
"So shall I. Are you sure you do not wish to come with me?" Atem questioned.
Teana tilted her head. "It does not seem such a bad idea now..." Atem widened his eyes with hope. "But alas, no." Atem groaned. "I have been away from home from months and months. I have missed it so, and have missed my parents. I wish to spend a little more time before I go."
Atem frowned. "Does it have to be so long?"
Teana looked down and smiled, only to reach up and cup her husband's cheek. "Yes, but I am yours now."
"I love you." He said without thinking.
Teana smiled, momentarily closing her eyes. "And I love you." She declared.
Before Atem had a chance to act upon his surprise, Teana leaned up and kissed him. Atem wrapped his arms around her waist, and Teana likewise around his neck. They kissed for quite some time, until they were quite out of breath. They slowly parted gazing into each other's eyes.
"If I have to send all the my men to get you and the baby back home I would." He breathed.
"I know you would." She whispered back. "But you will not need to."
"Because of my vast charm?" He gave a sly smile.
Teana softly laughed. "Yes, because of your vast charm."
It was that day that Atem regretfully left Nubia, leaving his wife and unborn child for the time being. He had to return to Egypt and uphold his duties as the reigning Pharaoh. Neither him nor his wife knew how hard it would be for them to be apart.
I'm sorry for the late update guys, but I'm going through some personal issues (nothing too serious of course) and I haven't been feeling well enough to write. I'm also dealing with a heck of a writers block, so I can't promise a quick and speedy update. Please know that if it takes me a longer time to update, that I haven't abandoned this story. Like I've said numerous times before, I have no intention to permanently discontinuing this story. I can't promise that a relatively small temporary one might happen though as I'm having much more difficulty with updating and writing. I thank you guys for the continued support and I hope that I'll be able to get back to writing soon.
Ahem. Anyways...back to the story. It was short, but some important events took place! Atem told Teana that he loved her... and she said I love you back! :D Yay! Their love has solidified. Hopefully, you'll see next time that being apart isn't as easy at they thought.
Thank you once again to all my readers and reviewers especially.
