I don't own Austin & Ally
Third Person POV
"Ella, quit trying to get the door open! It's heavy so let me get it!", Maddie said as they both struggled to get the extremely heavy hospital, bathroom door open from the inside.
"No, I got it!", Ella argued.
"Ella, what did I just say?", Maddie asked as she continued to yank at the door.
"Maddie, I said I g-OW!", Ella screamed when they finally go the door open.
"What's wrong!?", Maddie asked panicking.
"M-M-M-My t-t-toe!", Ella cried in pain. Ella was wearing flip-flops that day, seeing as how it was Miami and she didn't know they would be going to the hospital, so when Maddie looked down, the sight about made her sick. Ella's toe was an odd purple/blue color with black appearing in some places. Ella just kept screaming and crying in pain and it made Maddie's heart break for the little girl.
"Somebody help us!", Maddie yelled with tears building up in her eyes. She couldn't believe she broke her little niece's toe, and not even an hour after she let her little brother stick his arm through flames of fire when she wasn't paying attention to him. What kind of person was she!? Maddie felt as if this was a sign that she should never become a mother.
"What happened here!?", a nurse quickly asked as she ran up to the two girls.
"I…she…p-p…", Maddie stuttered. She couldn't get one word out from the shock.
"Maddie!? Ella!? What happened!?", Porter asked running over to see both girls balling their eyes out. "Is it Ally? The babies?"
"N-N-No…I b-broke…m-my t-t-toe", Ella quivered.
"Oh my! That needs immediate medical attention!", the nurse gasped when she saw Ella's toe. She had obviously never dealt with many young, scared children in pain or hysterical young adults who feel guilty because that statement just sent both Ella and Maddie into an even worse fit of panicking.
"My Mommy's going to have the babies without me!", Ella cried.
"I-It's all m-my f-fault!", Maddie cried at the same time. The nurse had no clue how to deal with the hysterical girls in front of her in order to help so Porter took this as his time to step in.
"Hey princess, it'll be okay. Come on, let's go get your toe looked at so your Mommy and Daddy won't kill me and Maddie will stop freaking out over something that wasn't her fault", Porter said lifting a sniffling Ella up in his arms. She still had tears streaming down her face but had calmed down a little from her freak out stage.
With Austin & Ally
"Austin, can you believe it's almost time?", Ally asked excitedly. They were both smiling like maniacs, with the exception of Ally's occasional screams in pain as each contraction hit.
"I know! It feels like yesterday when we met in Sonic Boom and I was being a jerk to-"
"AHH! WHY DOES THIS HURT SO MUCH!?", Ally screamed, cutting not only his sentence off but also partially the circulation in his hand with crushing strength.
"I-I have n-no clue…baby, you're…c-crushing my h-hand", Austin breathed out. Ally glared in his direction.
"I'm crushing your hand! Do you know the kind of pain I'm going through right now!? It's your fault too! You did this to me you jerk!", Ally yelled. Her face was all scrunched up in pain for a few more seconds before she finally breathed a sigh of relief when the contraction had ended.
"Um…I'm sorry?", Austin said in a questioning tone. Ally sighed and turned to Austin with a guilty expression.
"I'm sorry sweetie, you didn't do anything. This…", Ally said pointing towards her stomach, "…would be both of our faults. Though, as much as this hurts-which is a lot-I wouldn't change it for the world because then we wouldn't be having two more kids."
"I would've been fine with Ella as my only child for the rest of my life…not that I don't love these babies just as much! Trust me I do!", Austin said quickly. Ally smiled.
"I know what you mean; I feel the same way, but I am glad to be having the babies too", Ally laughed then a thought crossed my mind. "Something's wrong"
"What!? What's wrong!? Is it the babies!?", Austin asked beginning to panic as well.
"No, it's not the babies. I just feel like something's wrong. Where's Ella!?", Ally asked, her motherly instincts kicking in big time.
"Als, Maddie took her to the bathroom when we first got here. I'm sure they're done by now and are back in the waiting room, perfectly fine", Austin assured her.
"Are you sure? It just feels like something's wrong", Ally said unsurely.
"Ally, just calm down. We have these two babies to worry about right now, not Ella. Our whole family is out there to take care of Ella. Even if something was to happen, they'd know how to handle it without us", Austin said. Ally nodded, seeming to calm down…only slightly. Ally knew something was wrong in her heart, she just didn't know what.
"Ally, I think you're ready to start pushing. You're ten centimeters dilated so you know what that means", Linda said after checking in on them. Ally nodded and grasped Austin's hand tightly. "Okay, one…two…three…push!"
"OH GOSH, THIS HURTS WORSE!", Ally screamed to the top of her lungs. Austin looked down to his now purple-looking hand but didn't dare let go of Ally's when she needed him so desperately.
"Come on Ally, just a few more big pushes. I can see a head", Linda said. Ally let out another screech in pain which was soon replaced by a smaller, but equally loud cry.
"I-Is our baby…okay?", Ally asked weakly. Linda smiled.
"Congratulations kids, you have a beautiful, healthy baby boy", Linda said smiling as she passed the baby to one of the nurses to get him cleaned up while Ally delivered her second baby.
"You hear that Ally? We have a boy!", Austin said smiling brightly.
"Uh oh", Linda said suddenly when she had taken her place back at the end of the hospital bed.
"Uh oh? What do you mean 'Uh oh'? What's wrong!?", Ally asked starting to panic.
"Well it seems that there are some major complications with the second baby. The heart rate's dropping and the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck. We need to do an emergency cesarean section", Linda said.
"WHAT!? Oh, Austin!", Ally cried. Austin gently wrapped his arms comfortingly around his wife as he looked up at the doctor in partial shock.
"I-It'll be okay, r-right?", Austin stuttered with tears streaming down his face along with Ally's.
"I'm not sure", Linda said sighing as she began to prep Ally for surgery.
"Austin, I want Trish in here", Ally said still crying. Austin looked over toward Linda who shook her head.
"I'm sorry Ally, but we're only permitted to let one person in the operating room-"
"Linda, my baby might die! I want my husband and my best friend in here right now!", Ally cried. Linda sighed as she looked between the two children she and her husband had grown to love as their own a while back. They had both been trained not to get overly attached to any patient they weren't related to-seeing as how they wouldn't be able to treat/operate on their own relatives anyhow-but they both had somehow been reeled in with this one particular family. Linda turned to the nurses who were in the room with a stern look; she was their boss after all.
"None of you speak of this. If it comes up, none of us knew she wasn't a nurse and she didn't know she shouldn't have been in here, got it?", she demanded. All the nurses nodded quickly. Linda then turned to Austin and Ally who both looked so scared and upset that it broke her heart. "I'll go get Trish while my top nurse finishes your surgery preparation."
In the waiting room
"Mom, I'm tired", Aiden whined to Mimi who had adopted him as well shortly after they had gotten back from Tennessee. He still couldn't decide whether he wanted to live with them or Maddie however, so he just went to both houses. There really wasn't a schedule of when he went to either house as long as all three adults knew where he was at all times. He even had his own room at both houses.
"I know baby, please stop complaining. Why don't you and Toby go sit on the couch and take a nap?", Mimi suggested. Aiden decided that was a good idea, but Toby didn't budge.
"I'm not going to sleep until Ella comes back", he said stubbornly.
"Awe!", Kelsey and Alyssa said at the same time. They had become so incredibly close through the past six months of being sisters and best friends.
"What?", Toby asked his two sisters confusedly.
"You're in love!", they cooed, yet again at the same time. At that very moment, everyone in the room was either choking on air or staring wide eyed at Toby and the girls.
"Ewe! Why would you think that?", Toby asked wrinkling his nose.
"You're in such denial", Alyssa said shaking her head.
"You're so in love with Ella! Even if you don't know it yet, we can all see it! You're best friends and you always worry about her and do the sweetest, cutest little things for her", Kelsey gushed.
"That doesn't mean I'm in love with her! We're just best friends and I'm trying to be a good one", Toby defended.
"Sure", Kelsey said rolling her eyes.
"Give him a break guys", Trish said.
"Thank you!", Toby exclaimed.
"They're only five. He'll figure out that he loves her sooner or later", Trish said as an afterthought.
"I take back my thank you", Toby said crossing his arms.
"Well it's-", Trish started but Linda suddenly came in and interrupted their little conversation.
"Trish", she said in a sad tone. Everyone got quiet in fear of what the woman had to say and Trish ran up to her immediately.
"What happened!?", Trish asked in a panicked voice.
"Ally wants you in the room while she's having her C-Section. The first baby was totally fine, but there's complications with the second and she said she was not going to calm down until she had both her husband and her best friend there to support her. I wasn't supposed to allow that, but I would do about anything for you kids so I came to get you", Linda explained.
"I'm coming", Trish said automatically. "Dez, you lose Brianna one time I swear you won't have any memory of how you ended up in a lion's den when you eventually come to", she warned her boyfriend who nodded quickly and held the six month old closer to him as if she was his life line.
Back in the operating room
"Ally?", Austin asked in a small, shaky voice.
"Y-Yeah", she sniffled.
"W-We'll be okay. I-I just know we'll all b-be okay", he assured her. Ally brought his hand to her lips and kissed it, wishing she could just be in his arms. Austin smiled sadly at her before the door burst open to reveal Trish in the proper operation attire that Austin was already dressed in as well.
"Ally, are you okay!? What happened!?", Trish asked as she ran to her best friend's side.
"W-We had a b-boy, but the s-second one m-might…", Ally started, but then broke down in sobs and motioned for Linda to explain the rest as Austin hugged her comfortingly.
"Austin and Ally had a very healthy baby boy the natural way, but when it came time for her to give birth to the second child, we noticed the heart rate dropping and the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck. We have to do an emergency C-Section and pray that the baby will make it through", Linda explained. Hearing it all again, both Austin and Ally started crying harder, but Austin was still trying to console Ally all the while. Trish's eyes widened as she quickly grabbed each of their hands.
"Oh Ally, Austin, I'm so sorry! I'm here for you both", Trish said trying to keep her own tears down.
"T-Thanks Trish", Austin said as best as he could.
"T-Trish, is E-Ella okay?", Ally asked. She was still in a great deal of pain, but the pain in her heart hurt a thousand times worse. She couldn't even imagine what it would feel like to lose one of her babies, but she wanted to know if her other daughter was okay as well.
"I don't know. She's been with Maddie the whole time, but Porter went looking for the both of them", Trish said honestly.
"Shouldn't they have been back before now if it was just a trip to the bathroom?", Ally asked worriedly as she glanced up to Austin with an 'I told you so' look. Trish was about to respond with some kind of made up excuse to make Ally stop worrying, but Linda came back in before she could.
"It's time", she said. Ally sighed and nodded, tightly grasping both Trish and Austin's hands as Linda began the incision.
45 minutes later
"We'll have to keep an eye on this one, but congratulations on your beautiful baby girl", Linda said when she finally got the baby out safely.
"I wanna hold my babies", Ally said very weakly. Linda shook her head.
"I'm sorry sweetie but we still have to get you stitched back up and you need a few hours to heal before we can allow that." When Linda said that, Ally started crying all over again.
"I won't be the first one to get to hold my baby! I just wanted you to hand them to Austin and he lets me hold them", she cried. Austin knelt down next to her, a lot calmer since both his babies were now alright.
"Baby, don't worry. We won't let anyone else hold them unless it's a doctor doing something they have to, and I'll even let you hold them before I do", Austin said softly. Ally blinked back more tears.
"R-Really? We c-can do that?", she asked in a small voice. Austin smiled and wiped the rest of her tears away from her face.
"Of course sweetie; I would do anything for you", he said.
"Then someone please get me some drugs that'll knock me out!", she screamed making everyone in the room chuckle lightly. "I'm not kidding; someone get me some drugs! Now please!"
3 ½ hours later
"Ally", Austin whispered as he ran his hand over his sleeping wife's cheek. She stirred a little before opening her eyes tiredly. She was still in pain from having to give birth to twins, two separate ways might I add, so she was exhausted.
"Yeah?", she asked weakly.
"Are you ready to hold the babies", he asked quietly, but she still heard. The very thought made her smile widely before slowly rolling over on her back and inclining the chair so she didn't have to sit up herself. She learned the hard way not to do that twice after screaming in pain and having to be given more drugs and laid back down.
"You know it", she said happily making Austin laugh.
"Do you mind if Trish holds one of them long enough to bring them to you?", he asked since Ally said she wanted to be the first to hold them.
"Of course I don't mind. Trish is my best friend and you're my husband so that doesn't bother me", Ally said, her bright smile never leaving her face. Austin smiled too and exited long enough to grab his baby girl for the first time while Trish took their baby boy. Austin never let either of those babies out of his sight for the three and a half hours Ally had been out of it. He and Trish had stayed by their sides the entire time, but Austin had footage from the cameras in Ally's room so he could see if she woke up, but he figured she was strong enough to hold them now.
"Ally, which one would you like to hold first?", Trish asked.
"Both of them", Ally said determined. She never wanted any of her children to feel less loved than the other so she was going to hold both babies at the same time for the first time she held them.
"Are you sure? I mean you did just have major surgery and-"
"Trish, I am holding both of my babies at the same time whether you like it or not. I'll let Austin stay by my side the whole time if you're so freaking worried, but I would be able to hold my babies if I didn't have the strength of a fly trying to lift an apple", Ally stated. She had a blank yet determined expression on her face. Austin smiled at his wife's stubbornness as he and Trish handed her both of the babies.
"Ally, they're so beautiful", Trish said smiling as she took a picture on Ally's phone and her own.
"Oh Trish, will you please go find Ella and bring her here? I really want us all to have some family time before everyone else files in", Ally asked. Trish nodded and went to look for her niece.
"Have you guy seen Ella?", Trish asked when she got to the waiting room. The only people awake were Mimi and Claire. Toby had eventually fallen asleep on one of the chairs by accident but no one bothered to wake him. Trish sighed and walked over to the receptionist.
"Excuse me, you wouldn't happen to know where Ella Moon is, would you?", she asked.
"Room 340", the lady said. Trish's eyes widened when she realized Ella must be a patient of some kind and took off running down the hallway.
With Ella
"See princess, I bet your toe will be better real soon", Porter told Ella when she had woken up. She had fallen asleep before they came to put the cast on her, so they just let her sleep for a while and gave her some pain medicine while putting a cast on her foot. It was a shame she had to get a cast on her whole foot, but where her toe was broken went up part of her foot and they couldn't do anything else that would help her foot heal without doing so.
"Ella, I'm so sorry! This is all my fault! I can't believe I broke my niece's toe!", Maddie exclaimed. She was pacing back and forth while chewing at her fingernails anxiously.
"Maddie, it's not your fault. You told me to move away from the door and I didn't. Plus, we could sue the hospital for a defective door. It's too heavy for the patients to get in and out of", Ella said. Porter and Maddie were just staring at her like she had grown two heads.
"How'd you know what defective means?", Porter asked in disbelief.
"And how do you know what it means to sue someone and use both terms correctly?", Maddie asked.
"I told you people I was smart…and that T.V. doesn't rot your mind", Ella said. That's when Trish suddenly burst through the door.
"What happened?", she asked completely out of breath.
"We could ask you the same question", Ella said. Trish was still wearing the surgery outfit that was all messed up and she was panting like crazy.
"No time to explain. Ella, what happened to you?", Trish asked again.
"I broke my toe, crushing it under the really heavy bathroom door. I just got a yellow cast so I can walk on my foot without it moving", Ella explained. Of course she picked a yellow cast.
"Are you free to go yet", Trish asked hurriedly.
"Yeah, she fell asleep a while back so we stayed here longer than needed", Maddie explained.
"Let's go", Trish said picking Ella up and heading out of the room, leaving a confused Porter and Maddie behind in the room.
"Where are we going?", Ella asked.
"I think there's two little people who would love to meet their big sister", Trish said smiling as she opened Ally's door.
"Oh my goodness!", Ella exclaimed as quietly as possible. She's a smart little girl to know not to scream loudly around newborn babies…and a hormonal Mommy.
And there you have it! The birth of the twins! I still have some drama left for this story line and we still have to find out what they decided to name the twins, but at least we know what gender they are now! I hope you all enjoyed this slightly longer chapter that took me a while to type up. Please, please, please, read, review, follow, and favorite! Happy eighteenth Birthday Ross! We all love you so much…even though you'll probably never see this!
I don't own any of the hospital stuff I used that needs a disclaimer.
Fun fact: Ella's breaking her toe story line came from what happened to me at my dance recital back when I was three. My cousin took me to the bathroom and we were fighting over who would get the door, ultimately crushing my toe in the process, but I didn't get a cast. I chose to perform anyway (hurt like crap) and my mom was so mad at herself when she found out it was broken and she let me dance on it. Okay, enough of me babbling; this chapter is long enough. ;P
God bless you all!
