I do not own Austin & Ally

Austin's POV

"Aunt Claire, would you please stop worrying? The babies have been home for three months and totally settled, we all love Toby to death, and Ella's so excited" Ally assured our worrywart of an aunt when she arrived to drop Toby off for him to spend the night. Uncle Daryl was taking Aunt Claire on a second honeymoon for their anniversary, and Porter took Alyssa to see their aunt and uncle who were visiting from somewhere overseas that I can't even pronounce. They're missionaries and they haven't seen the poor kids-or had any contact with them-since their parents' funeral almost five years ago. Kelsey decided to tag along having nothing else better to do. That just left Toby, so we were okay with him staying over here.

"I'm sorry Ally, I'm just not sure I want to burden you with another kid to look after when you already have Ella and the babies are only three months old…"

"Aunt Claire", I said stepping in, "we'll all be fine. Toby's always here anyway so there isn't much difference in overnight when he'll be asleep"

"Okay, okay, I'll stop fretting. By sweetie, be good for Austin and Ally", Aunt Claire said as she pushed Toby inside. He rolled his eyes when she wasn't looking.

"Yes mam", he said as though he's been through this a thousand times-which he probably has.

"Good boy; I love you"

"Love you too." With that, our aunt finally left when she should have twenty minutes ago.

"So bud, you hungry?", Ally asked walking into the kitchen with us following.

"Do you have any bacon? Mom forgot breakfast while she was going crazy over Port, Lys, and Kels all going to see Port and Lys's aunt and uncle and me coming here. She didn't even bother to think I might be hungry" Toby said. Ally laughed and pulled out a whole package of bacon. We obviously had enough considering Ella and I both eat pancakes and Ally likes eggs for breakfast.

"Here you go kiddo. You can always eat here whenever you want, even if you've eaten already" Ally said. And there it is. She's always so caring and nice to everyone. It's no wonder I fell in love with her in like less than a week.

"Thanks Ally! This is why I love it here" Toby said as he stared longingly towards the bacon strips Ally was putting in the frying pan. Totally off the subject, I kind of want to see Tangled* again. Yes, it's a princess movie. Ally and Ella both love it and I have to admit Disney can make some hilarious animated movies.

"Where's Ella?" Toby asked snapping me out of my thoughts. Then again, I shouldn't be thinking about princess movies if I have any shred of pride left.

"She's still asleep bud" I told him. He looked disappointed at this, but I knew he wouldn't go wake her up. For one, he only made that mistake once and is still trying to recover. Let's just say my daughter is not a morning person in the least. And two, Ally and I once caught him just staring at her while she was asleep. I found it kind of weird, but then again, both he and Ella do that to the babies. Do six year olds just find it interesting to watch people sleep? I don't remember being that way…

"When she gonna wake up?" Toby asked impatiently. I just laughed.

"I don't know buddy. You can go play in the playroom for a while if you want to. Breakfast should be ready in a bit" I told him. He nodded and ran off down the hall. I smiled, thinking about how much I loved those carefree days as a kid. I just wish I could've spent those years with Ally like I wanted to after that day in kindergarten. And I really wish Ally's childhood could've been as carefree as mine…

"What are you thinking about?" Ally asked from where she stood frying up some bacon for Toby. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her from behind. At least I have her now; with me in my arms. How did I get so lucky?

"Just how much I wish we could've grown up together and how I regret not saving you from that orphanage all those years ago" I sighed. Ally turned around facing me with those big, beautiful brown eyes of hers that were full of emotion, and I could tell right away I was about to get one of her famous lectures.

"Austin Monica Moon!" And there it is. "You are never to speak that way again! It is not your fault that my parents put me in an orphanage all those years ago"

"But I could've tried to find you. I should've looked for you at school-"

"Austin, we went to different schools after kindergarten" Ally reminded me. I sighed.

"But still-"

"No buts mister. You are not to blame. You said y'all were gonna adopt me and Maddie way back then when we were all kids if they had've known, but don't you think that would be weird? Austin, I don't regret growing up there. It led me to everything I have now. Maddie and I now live with y'all and I get to be your wife. If y'all adopted me back then, I would've been your sister. It'd be a little weird honey" she said making me laugh a little in spite of myself. "And if I wasn't ever in an orphanage, Ella wouldn't be our little girl. She wouldn't even exist because Elliot wouldn't have ever met Sam. Now can you honestly tell me you regret what happened?"

"I regret not being there for you" I said quietly. If it wasn't obvious, my superstar ego may be very high but my personal self-esteem isn't quite cutting it.

"Austin, you were there when I truly needed you. God isn't going to throw something at us that we can't get through. And guess what? We got through it. I didn't die because I was abused as a kid. We still live happy, loving lives with more people than we ever could've if we stayed together as little kids. I got the parents I always wanted, but I also got their son as my husband; not my brother. Thank you God" she said whispering that last part with her eyes directed toward the ceiling. I couldn't help but smile as I sent a silent prayer of thanks as well.

"So you don't regret not having a normal childhood?" I asked, not really able to understand that. She just laughed.

"Austin, my childhood may not have been the best, or in any way normal, but that doesn't mean it was all bad. That's when Dez and I met. That's when Trish and I became best friends all those years ago. I never lost her during that time, so we had a good share of fun. And Elliot wasn't a bad brother. Yes, he was incredibly immature, but when you look at who I'm married to you can tell I never minded" she said jokingly. I rolled my eyes and kissed her.

"You're amazing Als. How do you keep amazing me, both on the past and the present, when I think I know everything?"

"Oh honey, you ain't seen nothing yet"

"Did Ally Dawson just throw grammar out the window?" I asked pretending to be shocked. Everyone loves a good southern moment. She just rolled her eyes and turned back to the bacon without another word. I rewrapped my arms around her waist (that somehow is still very tiny after having twins) and sighed in contentment. I love this life.

Third person POV

Toby was just playing in Ella's playroom with all the cars he'd helped her collect over the past nine or so months. He was getting bored pretty quickly knowing his best friend was so close, yet he was standing there playing all by himself. It didn't take him long to get so bored he just left, heading straight to Ella's bedroom where she lay peacefully sleeping on her bed. What made Toby think that sight was adorable? Ella wasn't a baby or a puppy; she was his best friend. That was weird.

Ella suddenly mumbled something incoherent in her sleep, clutching Jammies Dolly closer to her little body. Toby smiled and tried to hold in a laugh. As soon as they all had gotten home from Tennessee, she ran straight for that doll. It was her absolute favorite thing in the world and she rarely went anywhere without it. He may've thought that was ridiculous, but it made him smile at her none-the-less.

"Toby?" Ella muttered as her eyes started to flutter open. Toby smiled, happy she was finally waking up and they could play.

"Hey Ells" he said hopping up on the bed with her. Ella laughed a little as she rubbed her eyes (but never let go of the doll).

"When did you get here?"

"I don't know. Whenever my mom dropped me off and Ally started cooking the bacon" Toby said making Ella roll her eyes.

"When's she gonna make the pancakes? I want them to be done when time's up on my medicine" Ella said. Every morning when she woke up, Ella had to take a pill for her heart problem and had to wait thirty minutes before she could eat. She liked when the food was ready whenever that time was up.

"Then you should probably take your medicine so you don't gotta wait so long" Toby said in a 'duh' tone.

"Oh yeah" Ella said smiling sheepishly. "Race you there!"

"Not fair!" Toby yelled running after her.

"I win!" Ella yelled when she got to the kitchen before Toby.

"Yeah because you cheated" He pouted.

"Did not"

"Did too"

"Alright kids, that's enough. Toby, your bacon's done" Ally said breaking up their mini-fight.

"Yum" Toby said grabbing the plate from Ally's hand and digging in immediately. "Thank you Ally" he said, but it sounded more like 'Tank woo Awwy' through that mouthful of bacon. Ally laughed.

"You're welcome sweetie"

"Morning Sunshine" Austin said picking Ella up and kissing her little face. Ella laughed and hugged his neck.

"Morning Daddy"

"Ella, have you taken your medicine yet?" Ally asked as she began to pour the pancake batter.

"No Mommy, I forgot"

"Here you go Sunshine. Here's your tea and here's your pill" Austin said handing his daughter a small pill to help both her heart and her headaches. They'd also started buying caffeine free tea and Ella said there wasn't even a difference in taste. Good thing too, because that was her favorite thing to drink.

"Now can I eat?" Ella whined making both her parents laugh.

"Sorry kiddo, you gotta wait thirty minutes. Toby's pretty much devoured his plate already so why don't you two go play while I make the pancakes?" Ally suggested.

"Okay" Ella mumbled as she and Toby both headed to the playroom. They stopped right outside the door upon hearing the babies start to stir in their sleep one room over.

"Can we go in there?" Toby whispered.

"They never said not to" Ella said smiling mischievously. Toby laughed as they walked in the room where both babies laid wide awake in their cribs.

"They look scared. I think they're about to start crying. Can we pick them up?" Toby asked hopefully. Ever since he held Bri for the first time, Toby became a sucker for babies. He always wants to hold and play with all three of them. Bri absolutely loves the extra attention of the six year olds and the twins seemed to have taken a liking to him as well.

"I guess so. They never told us not to do that either" Ella said laughing as she carefully lifted her baby brother and eased her way into one of the rocking chairs placed in the nursery. Toby smiled and picked up Emma before sitting in the rocking chair across from his best friend. "Awe, he's smiling at me"

"Your sister's smiling too" Toby said. It was different holding a three month old than it was holding Bri who was nine months old, but they managed pretty well.

"Well would you look at that" Ally whispered to her husband as they stood outside the doorway of the nursery. They came to tell Ella it was okay to eat now, but they noticed neither six year old was in the playroom. They checked Ella's room next then settled on the nursery where they found Ella cradling their only son and Toby holding Emma. They both had the most adorable, goofy smiles on their faces as they stared down at the infants.

"Looks like we have two more little babysitters" Austin laughed. Ally just rolled her eyes.

"Austin, they still are only six. Maybe we can leave them alone while still in the house but-"

"Ally, I was kidding" Austin said stopping his wife's rant.

"Oh."

"Austin, will you put Evan in his crib while I get Emma to sleep?" Ally asked as she was walking around the kitchen, rocking their baby girl in her arms. Austin was busy watching some old comedy on TV with Evan lying asleep in the crook of his arm. And yes, Ally had already taken pictures. She also happened to have taken a few selfies of her and Emma.

"Huh?" Austin asked, not really paying attention to what Ally just said for the rerun of Friends* he was watching.

"Can you go put Evan to bed? Oh, and while you're at it, check on the kids please. I'm still trying to get Emma to sleep" Ally repeated. She was getting frustrated, but she wasn't about to show it. At least Austin seemed to be paying attention to her this time.

"Oh yeah, sorry Als. I'll go do that now." Austin said sheepishly as he stood and carried their son to the nursery. Ally rolled her eyes at how he made it look so easy to carry a baby with just one arm.

"There you go buddy. Any advice on how to get Mommy to be a little less stressed?" Austin asked, rhetorically considering all he got in return was a soft baby snore, no louder than a sigh. "That's what I thought. Night kiddo"

With that, he left the nursery and went to check on Ella and Toby. The guest bedroom had no one in it, so he decided to look in Ella's room. "Hey Sunshine, have you seen where Toby-", he started, but cut himself off when he found both kids laying on the floor together. The sight was one of the funniest-and, he had to admit-most adorable he'd ever seen.

There were a bunch of pillows surrounding the kids, but somehow Toby's head wound up in Lucky's dog bed and his right arm lied out to the side and above his head. Ella was curled up right next to Toby with her head sort of trapped between his tiny chest and arm. Ella also had Jammies Dolly clutched tightly to her own chest while she slept peacefully. The poor Chihuahua whose bed was now occupied had taken this as an opportunity to lie on Ella's soft bed with little ballerinas covering the comforter. Austin didn't even bother making the dog move. He figured either Ally would do that or he'd just get to sleep there for the rest of the night. What harm could it do?

"Ally's going to kill me if I don't take a picture" Austin said fishing out his cell phone. He knew if he ever accidently slipped up and told her about this little scene, he'd be a dead man for not taking any pictures. Plus, he really couldn't say he didn't want to remember this too. It would really help if he ever had to scare away some guys who wanted to date his sunshine. He could also just use Toby to say she was off limits even if she wasn't. That was a definite plus of Ella's best friend being a boy. She doesn't have an older brother to scare away the guys in the future, so at least she'll have Toby.

"Ella!" Toby said sitting straight up in alert. Ella stirred a bit, but remained asleep. All the while Austin's eyes widened in confusion as the little boy was breathing heavily and frantically scanning his surroundings.

"Whoa, calm down buddy. What's wrong?" Austin asked.

"A-Austin?" Toby stuttered, still looking startled.

"It's just me Toby. What happened?" Austin asked again.

"W-Where's Ella?" Toby asked frantically.

"She's right next to you buddy. Why? Did you have a bad dream?" Austin asked. Toby hadn't answered any of his questions, so Austin decided to start guessing the problem. Toby just nodded with tears streaming down his little face. "What was it about? What kind of bad dream would make you cry little dude?"

"E-Ella" was all he said. Austin noticed he was just staring down at her like she'd disappear if he blinked. Toby then grabbed Ella's hand in his, holding it as if his own life depended on it.

"Kiddo, I'm gonna need you to explain a bit more if you expect me to understand" Austin said sighing.

"M-Me and Ella w-were just p-playing cars and hide-and-seek like w-we always do, but then everything changed. I couldn't f-find her anywhere, but I could hear her screaming. I ran all around until I f-found her, but a b-bad guy was holding her. She l-looked so scared! She just k-kept yelling for help, b-but that guy w-was too strong. I t-tried to help her; I tried to f-fight him, but h-he got her anyway! H-He took Ella and I c-couldn't save her!" Toby explained. He was now full-out sobbing. The poor kid; Austin wanted to cry himself just from hearing a story like that.

"Did you recognize the bad guy?" Austin asked, hoping the nightmare didn't mean anything bad would happen to his family again after everything had just started going good again.

"No, but I would if I saw him. He was so big and scary! He took my best friend!" Toby cried.

"No he didn't" Ella said sitting up. She'd woken up when Toby grabbed her hand, but she decided to let him explain his dream before making it know she was awake. Now felt like a good time. "Don't cry Toby, I'm right here" she continued hugging him tightly. Toby hugged back without hesitation. The poor boy was so scared.

"He was hurting you Ells! You were screaming the whole time and I didn't save you!" Toby cried.

"No Toby, that didn't happen. I'm right here. Look at me Toby; I'm right here" Ella demanded. Austin would've stepped in and try to help, but he saw his baby girl seemed to have it handled. In a softer tone, Ella said, "I'm right here Toby. I'm okay. I'm not hurt, I'm not screaming, and the bad guy is not here. It was just a bad dream. And even if you didn't save me in the dream, I heard you say you tried to. That's all that matters. That's the sweetest thing you could ever do; even in a dream. Do not blame yourself for something that never even happened. It was a dream, and you were the hero in it no matter how it ended" Ella finished. Austin was so proud of his daughter.

"Everything alright in here?" Ally asked as she peeked her head in Ella's room.

"Toby had a really bad dream" Austin whispered when Ally sat on the floor by him. "Ella's trying to calm him down. Poor kid's scared to death"

"Awe Toby, it'll be okay" Ally said rubbing his small back for comfort as he kept crying. Toby leaned into Ally who was now hugging him and Ella crawled over to Austin's lap. She knew she did all she could for her best friend at the time being, but she still hated to see him like that.

"Austin, why won't the bad guys leave us alone? I thought everything was okay now" Toby whined.

"Yeah Daddy, I thought everything was supposed to be okay now too. Why is Toby still having a bad dream?" Ella asked looking up at him expectantly. Austin sighed before thinking of a great metaphor that might help in this situation.

"Guys, do you see the light that's around the moon out there?" Austin asked as he and Ally led the kids over to the window and bent down to their height level. They both nodded.

"Yes Daddy, what's that got to do with answering our question?" Ella asked. Austin laughed a little.

"I'm getting there Sunshine. Anyway, do you guys know what that light around the moon is called?" he asked. This time both kids looked confused as they shook their heads in response. Ally, of course, knew what it was called being her genius self, but she didn't exactly know where her husband was getting at.

"Well kids, that's called a moon beam. Do you know why I chose to tell you guys this?"

"Austin, is this a metaphor?" Ally asked. She kind of figured it had something to do with their last name, but she still was anxious to find out what he was talking about. Austin smiled.

"Yep"

"Daddy, just tell us" Ella said impatiently. She never really was one to beat around the bush.

"Okay guys our last name is Moon right? And yes Toby, I know yours is Bentley and Porter and Alyssa's is West, but I mean that we're all somehow family right?" Austin asked. They all nodded. "Okay, well that just means that family to us is the beam of light in a bad situation. Just like the night's moon beam brightens the sky, our moon beam is our family, and we brighten each other's lives. We all love each other so much, and would do anything for each other, that we can overcome all of life's challenges together and with the strength of God. He will not throw something at us that we cannot handle. He is a God of love, not of sadness. Just trust that He'll get us through anything and everything. All we have to do is stick together and trust in Him" Austin finished. By this point, Ally was in tears at her husband's beautiful choice of words.

"Thanks Daddy, that did help" Ella said hugging him. "I love you"

"I love you too Sunshine"

"Yeah Austin, that did make me feel better" Toby said hugging him from the other side. Ally quickly snapped a picture so she could savor the sweet moment.

"Alright kiddos, time for bed" Ally said. A chorus of 'awes' followed and the usual bedtime routine commenced, but both kids were eventually tucked into bed. After a lot of begging, Austin and Ally let the kids sleep downstairs on the couch with the TV on but the volume low. Bedtime prayers had been said, Ella had already fallen asleep (in Ally's arms as she was also asleep on the couch), and Austin was just staying up until Toby feel asleep too.

"Austin?" Toby said; his voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah buddy?" Austin asked.

"The me in my dream was stupid. I would never let the bad guys get Ella again as long as I'm alive" he said. Austin's eyes widened, but he found the small boy's confession oddly helpful somehow to himself. Toby's eyelids slowly started to droop, but he was able to say one more thing before he totally passed out. "They'd have to kill me first"

And that's the end! I'm so sad this story's over! I mean, even though I have When Our Stars Align coming up, this is still the last time we get to see Ella so young. Everything changes in the next one considering it's ten years later, so get ready. Oh yeah, and I'm probably going to do a one-shot for Trez's wedding since I didn't fit it in this one.

I'd like to thank anyone who's had any contribution to my making in this story. That includes anyone who's followed, favorite, reviewed, or just read this story. Guests or those of you with accounts (which I recommend for anyone who would like to talk). Even those who bookmarked my story (for those of you who can. I know my IPod does). These thank yous go for Sunshine as well because I couldn't have written this one without everyone's love and support on the first one to keep me going. I'll never forget you all as long as I live. Thank you for this experience that's helped me grow as an individual, and even realize my calling from God to be a foster mom in the future. :) I love every one of you so much!

By the way, I will be putting up one more announcement when I post When Our Stars Align. Also, sorry this is such a long author's note.

Also, I'd like to mention that I'm still co-writing No Love Like Your first Love (sequel to Your First Everything) with writermeAL. It's on her profile.

And now I'm co-writing a Kickin' It story as well with R5KickAuslly29 called The New Girl if you guys want to check that out. It's on her profile.

I don't own Friends or Tangled
