Soul mates

Shizuo closed his eyes a red haze passing over his eyes. "Tsuki is with someone that looks like you." Through their new connection he could feel where his brothers were and how they were doing. "Roppi, right?" It was still hard to believe his little brother was just like him a monster torn between two species. Half human that too was a sin.

"Yeah. Sounds about right." Izaya sighed playing with his hair. "You know you can't trust that woman don't you? She's a cursed demon."

"So you keep saying. Because of her I know how my family are doing, even if I can't speak to them." Unless he had a dream like the one before. "Shitsuo is with another one that looks like you."

"That would be Sakuraya." Opening his eyes Shizuo looked straight up into crimson orbs.

"Why? Why are your brothers with mine? What's going on Izaya?"

"Relax Shizu-chan. I didn't plan this, I'm not your enemy. This is simply the work of fate. You read your prophecy didn't you? Your family and mine are bound together. One way or another we would have met."

"What the hell are you talking about? That stupid bit of paper was nonsense." Shizuo turned away swatting the comforting hand away. "Stop petting me!" As comfortable as it was, Izaya having all the control and knowledge irritated him.

"I didn't think you understood it. We've been expecting to meet you since we were kids."

"So you're helping me because a fortune cookie told you to?" Clenching his fists Shizuo pushed himself up falling back down again as a wave of dizziness overtook him.

"Not quite, I am the ruler of Ikebukuro I would have helped you anyway since you interest me. Most angels are a bore as for the demons they just want to maim and kill. Every single one of my family received the same one as you did. We knew we were expecting our soul mates we just didn't know who." Izaya smiled down at him.

Shizuo blinked letting those words sink in. "Wait, you think I'm your what? I don't even like you that way. I hate you!" Izaya only looked back calmly.

"At the moment you do. You need me, Shizu-chan. In your current state you won't survive. Listen I'll go through it with you. If you fight me you'll only get worse."

Listen. A woman's voice spoke clear in his mind. "Saika?"

"Shizu-chan, don't let her in." The demon warned.

Listen...Learn...Love... The voice whispered fading away.

"She said I should listen. Explain it." For a moment the flea looked taken aback. "What is it?"

"Saika isn't dormant. Anything I say to you she'll know."

"It doesn't matter. If you let me out of here I could stay with Delic." Shizuo stood his ground still unnerved from the one sided conversation with Saika.

"Fine. Suit yourself. When cat and dog collide, that is me and you. In case you didn't notice you're growing dog ears and a tail. Its why you're so docile when I stroke your hair."

Shizuo froze slowly reaching for the bumps on his head. "Dog ears? Like that book?" Did that mean he would have a similar look to Izaya? Focusing his gaze on the black pointed ears the small triangle shapes twitched. "I'm turning into a dog? Why?" Watching Izaya's tail flick back and forth made him think about his own.

"Because that's the attribute in your father's family. Do you see now, why you need me? I've gone through the same thing, well not quite I was born like this." The demon rested a hand on his head. Shizuo felt the urge to tilt his head.

"I- go through the rest. It's about what will happen to my family, isn't it?"

"Now you're getting it, protozoan." Izaya held up his hand putting down a finger with each line. "A lonely wolf cannot hide. That's my brother Hachimeroppi, Roppi for short." The demon that was currently with his little brother.

"A vengeful bite will be for naught. That one would be my mother since she's a snake her venom is deadly. The trickster fox will be caught. That's Sakuraya." Izaya explained. The one with Shitsuo. "From what we've interpreted, my mother will try and kill someone and fail. Where is your brother Shi-chan at the moment?"

"Do you have to give everyone nicknames?" Shizuo muttered. "He's in a room with your brother."

"I know the room. Its a meeting place between the two realms. Its risky going there without permission. If he's not careful he'll get caught." The demon paused running a hand through his hair. "Never mind. The next one, the hyper child won't stay calm. That would be Psyche. If I let him over here it would be chaos. He'll be with Tsu-chan. The prideful king can do no harm is Hibiya. He thinks he's a great ruler that's why his form is a lion, well he's still a cub at the moment."

"What about my family?" Shizuo snapped impatiently.

"I was getting to that. It was a little harder since we didn't know anything about you. Sakuraya intercepted Deli-chan before he passed through the portal, then I had a word with him too. After that it was the case of waiting."

"If you hurt him-" Shizuo started a hand clamping over his mouth.

"I didn't touch him. I knew right away he wasn't my destined one." Izaya grinned leaning forward. "He belongs to Hibiya."

Shizuo shuddered. "Stop it with that crap. Just carry on."

"Okay. A child forever lost and found, I know now that is Tsuki-chan, Your brother has the power to teleport." Shizuo growled reaching for the demon.

"How the hell do you know that? What did you do?"

"I haven't left Ikebukuro, Shizu-chan. When you were sleeping he popped up and vanished again. It looks like he can't control it. Roppi is with him so if it happens again at least he won't be alone." Izaya soothed playing with his hair again. Giving in Shizuo closed his eyes. It did feel really good.

"The purest one shall be bound. Until Shingen told us what Shizuka was I didn't know who that was. It could only be an angel. Your mother being heaven's doll makes sense. The legend says that heaven's doll can't be corrupted by anything and will always remain pure. Sakuraya thought Shi-chan was the doll because he was so obedient. Instead its an inherited trait."

Shizuo covered a yawn, feeling sleepy. It was the same as before a call to slumber. All he had to do was close his eyes and allow himself to drift. A red mist fell over him. Listen...Learn...Love... That voice again. Was it Saika the demon who was supposed to be so cruel or Shizuka's?

"Shizu-chan! Are you listening?" Izaya was shaking him keeping him awake. "Its too early for you to sleep." Shaking his head he already knew the chance had passed.

"Yeah. I'm awake." The half demon muttered.

"Good. So we know the loyal one can't disobey is Shi-chan. Blackened wings will turn grey refers to a fallen angel which is Deli-chan. That leaves the calmest one will start it all..."

"That's Tsugaru." Shizuo sighed.

"That's right. You should know something about the portals. Although Tsuki-chan got lost his presence in the demon realm would have been human. The same with you, it would have registered as demon. The only reason your family got in trouble was because Tsu-chan went in after you. It registered him as a pure angel. You two would have been fine if you had gone straight to your father's home."

Shizuo scowled pushing off the demon's lap. "Is that it then? Or are you done blaming my brother for this?"

"Not quite. The last line, when the strongest wakes all shall fall. All of my family have reached their final forms which means its something to do with yours. The question is out of you and Tsuki-chan which is the strongest?" Shizuo growled slamming a fist into the wall.

"Tsuki isn't a monster. He's innocent in all of this. So there. The strongest is me I'm destined to be the god of destruction or whatever crap you think is going to happen."

"Perhaps though it could have a different meaning. Prophecies are open to interpretation whether its correct or not. All it takes is one idiot to guess wrong and it sets off a horrible chain of events. So yes it could still be you or little Tsuki-chan. We'll find out when the two of you go into your deep sleeps won't we?" The cat demon bounced up from the sofa stalking across the room.

"Which is why you want me to stay awake? I'm getting weaker and feeling sicker by the moment. Just let me go to sleep."

Listen...Learn...

"Would you shut up?" Shizuo growled feeling his anger rise. The stupid woman in his head kept repeating the same thing over and over again. It was giving him a headache.

"You were the one that wanted to know, Shizu-chan. I told you."

"You're wrong. That piece of paper is crap. If anything happens to my family..." Shizuo warned dangerously clenching his fists.

"Will have to deal with my family. Sakuraya will be with Shi-chan. Roppi will be with Tsuki-chan. Kanra will be with your mother. Psyche will be with Tsu-chan, and Hibiya will be with Delic, which leaves me and you. Whether you like it or not you are my soul mate, protozoan. Accept it. The oracle has never been wrong." Slapping Izaya's hand away Shizuo glared at the demon.

"This great oracle tells you about this and you decide I'm your soul mate? How stupid do you think I am? You seriously believe this crap?" The half demon spat bitterly putting another hole in the wall. "I don't belong to you or anyone, flea. I don't need you either. Delic is here, I'm more than welcome to stay with him."

"Shizu-chan, you aren't leaving. My word is law in Ikebukuro. No one will disobey me." Izaya flexed his hands as the pair circled each other.

"Then I'll be the first." Shizuo grabbed the sofa aiming it at the flea.

"I just replaced that. How many more are you going to destroy?" The demon scolded crossing the distance between them. In one swift movement Shizuo collapsed to back against the wall howling in pain covering his face. Through his fingers he glared at Izaya licking his blood from his claws.

"You bastard!" He could feel four red lines vertically down his face. The damn cat demon had scratched him. Do you want to control or be controlled? "I said shut up!" Why was everyone trying to tell him what to do? "My life is my own. Its not my fault I was born a fucking monster. I didn't ask my mother to hook up with a damn demon!"

"Shizu-chan, you're not a monster. People including demons and angels are scared of what they don't understand. No one understands you, no one can know what you are. If you step outside that door you have no idea what you'll be dealing with. The demons know who I am, if they see you leaving my apartment they'll come after you. Your family may be scattered but they are protected. For now there is nothing you can do." Shizuo froze feeling a hand on his slowly pulling it away from his face. "Trust me, Shizu-chan. I would never do anything to seriously harm you."

Stepping back both arms dropped to his side. "You scratched me."

"To calm you down. Don't worry it will heal quickly. You have your mother's inherited powers." Shizuo shivered feeling a hand rest on his cheek. Titling his head his gaze met Izaya's. "I said it before I'll teach you everything you need to know. I just need you to let me. If it helps forget everything I told you. All you need to know is you are mine and I am yours. There's nothing we can do about it, so why fight it?"

Shizuo found himself staring at the demon's lips. Before he knew it the gap between them had closed. Eyes widening at the soft warmth he didn't push Izaya away letting the kiss continue. Sharp teeth nibbled lightly against his lower lip a rough tongue scratching against his own. On his chest he could feel a sharp pain as the mark began to burn. "Agh!" Shoving the raven away Shizuo fell back against the wall. The pain was fading, the ring on his finger glowing brightly.

"Shizu-chan?" Pushing himself up Shizuo backed away. His chest hurt his heart pounding. Izaya was still holding a hand out to help him. Soul mates. Was he really supposed to be that way with the demon? Slapping the raven's hand away the half demon shook his head. The woman's voice in his head was silent.

"I- sorry." Resting his fingers on the demons shoulders, Shizuo sent him flying across the room. Taking the opening he turned and ran throwing the door open preferring to take his chance outside rather than stay with the demon that only confused him. Concentrating on where he was going, the half demon didn't once glance behind him.

Finally reaching the bottom Shizuo burst through the main doors out into the street. Too far it seemed a loud honking noise making him draw back as something silver sped by him. Listen...Learn...Love...Love...Love...Clutching his head Shizuo backed away hearing something crash far above him. A hand clamped over his mouth pulling him back into the shadows. Large breasts pushed against his back. "Don't move. You're Delic-sama's brother."

The woman knew his brother? In front of him glass rained down a black shadow flying fast towards the ground. Izaya. Eyes widening in disbelief he watched as the demon twirled in mid air landing safely on his feet. At least he wasn't hurt. Shaking his head at the thought, Shizuo stepped back guided by the woman that would lead him to Delic.

His chest twinged seeing Izaya glance around. "Looks like it was too early. Fuck!" Turning away Shizuo followed after the woman going further and further away from the demon that did nothing but confuse him. Tsugaru wasn't here to calm his emotions. The best thing he could do was get away from the source. He wasn't running away... It was just time to see his older brother again. Letting his head drop Shizuo trudged after the woman miserably.
