Chapter 13: 'Til we fall out
The weary traveler tossed and turned from within her light sleep. Quickly she shook awake with a start. Her heart pounded deeply through her chest, and her dark tresses fell into a mess upon her head. Sweat trickling down her forehead.
'Will this happen again? Will they try to kill here too?' She thought.
'Please don't allow that sliver of hell to corrupt this world.' She sent a silent prayer to both Dende and Kami, knowing that she would need all the help she could get. Mai soon rolled back over, still trembling slightly, to glance at a clock that hardly struck one o'clock. There was going to be one long night ahead.

Why is your sister being a bitch to me? Goten typed to his best friend. It had been a full week since Bra gave him the cold shoulder, and he couldn't understand why.
You're pushing your luck, dumbass. Trunks responded. I don't know, and frankly, I'm scared to ask.
Goten chuckled. Bullshit.. you cannot be scared of her. She can't keep anything to herself.
Are you calling my sister a loud mouth?
And you're not?
Touche. Trunks sighed as her read the last few messages. She had said something, but it wasn't his place to tell Goten. Go ask Pan.
The Son was dumbfounded. No effin way! He typed furiously. Are your crazy? As soon as I mention it I'm dead.
Well, see you at your funeral. Trunks sent, then put his phone down.

Bra and Mai sat at the kitchen table talking and browsing the web. The young genius' eyes grew wide as she looked at the baby things for her niece or nephew.
"Wow, this is adorable!" She said, looking at the clothes.
Mai smiled. "If I didn't know better, its you that's having the baby."
The teen shot her a look. "No, I just can't wait to spoil it."
Trunks walked in and bluntly asked, "why are you being a bitch to Goten?"
Three... Two... One...
"I am not being a bitch. He's just getting what he deserves!" She exclaimed. "Is that what he told you?" Her temper rising with the question.
Her brother ran his hand through his short hair. "I don't even know what you're mad at him for." The volume of his voice dropping, trying not to wake their parents.
Mai looked at the young woman. There was something off about her. Was it her attitude? Her ki? Or was it the way her voice oozed control, but her body cower as if she wanted to run. 'No, that couldn't be right.'
The raven haired woman walked up to her, and pulled her shirt collar down on both sides. "What they hell are you d-"
"Nope." Mai cut in, "its not what I thought." She picked up the bowl of cereal and put it in the sink, leaving the two Briefs confused.
After a while of calming down, Trunks asked again what his friend did. To which his sister spat:
"He stood me up for that ditz Valease."
The young man sighed, boy was Son Goten screwed.
"We are going to the 439th today." Bra snapped her head at her mother's voice.
She snorted, "like hell I am." Her eyes rolled dramatically as Vegeta walked in.
"You're going brat, and that's final."

When ChiChi answered the door, she was ecstatic to see everyone. "Come on in. We are just sitting around."
As the five came into the small dome-like structure, they heard a popping sound from the window, and then a crash. Vegeta muttered, "of course." when he found it only to be his trouble-making future grand-brat.
The living area was both small and roomy, as everyone carried on with their own conversations.
"So, what did my brother do?" Pan asked, putting her hair back. She wore a light blue, spaghetti strapped sundress that clung to her shape, then flowed slightly from her hips. The light material suited the uncharacteristic heat in the summer.
Bra held up a finger, "first you need a back story."
Yes ma'am.
Her cerulean eyes closed, remembering the gross injustice Goten had done her.
*flashback*
The house clock struck two o'clock as Bra walked to her black, heavy duty SUV. The sun bright, and the heat sweltering. Goten asked her, "I know this seems unreasonable because this is a date, but could you meet me there?"
She laughed and told him not to worry, 'he's probably working again today.'
So the ten minuet drive to Satan City began. Traffic, like lunch time every day, was terrible. The loud noise of car horns and cursing drivers made it even less pleasant. All in all, Bra was used to it, living in the city. Every day she heard the hustle and bustle of those around her. But it was times like these she wondered what it was like to live in the mountains, not just stay for a visit. The serenity and never ending green grass. Seemingly endless peace, birds chirping while the wind whistled. The Earths songs, nature being it instruments.
Putting the midnight colored car into park, Bra stared at the steering wheel. 'How'd I get here?' She was so caught up in her thoughts; she didn't realize she'd arrived at the local burger joint. Opening the door, the heiress tied her long hair back. Her blue eyes wide in search for Goten. The young Son should've been there by now. 'What did he do, get lost?' Bra giggled to herself as a crowd of rowdy college students entered the establishment.
But the sixteen year old couldn't have been more wrong. Goten was there, more specifically inside of Burger Heaven.
Twenty long minutes had passed before he came out. There was something that bothered Bra as she watched the Son from her discreet hiding place from within the crowd. He was standing there like he was waiting for someone. Was he? Who was he waiting for? A girl?
Soon, a tall young woman walked out of the building and encircled her arm around his. The woman looked familiar, with her long, chestnut colored hair and thin stature. 'Valease? How could that disgusting slime!' Her mind began reeling. She could barely concentrate on keeping her anger intact. She was genuinely surprised he couldn't feel her ki.
When she calmed down completely, she sulked back to her car, and drove home -without lunch.
*End flashback*
"Let me at him!" Pan yelled. "Son Goten, I'm gonna kill you if it that last Kami Da-" she jumped from her seat only to hit a warm wall.
"Damn you're long winded." Trunks mumbled.
A cocky smirk graced the young woman's lips. "You'd know." She whispered.
"Is that a challenge?" Trunks whispered back, inching closer to Pan.
"Why, do you think you can do better?" She hissed.
Too bad both Mai and Bra heard the little exchange. Bra laughed hysterically as Mai sighed,
"Oh dear Kami, can you two not?" The twenty-three year olds cheeks turned slightly pink hearing her parents.
The two looked back at each other laughing at the comment. Trunks sighed and told Bra what he heard. "The whole date was a blackmail."
"A what!?" The blue haired demi-Saiyan exclaimed. The shrill tone of her voice attracted the attention of her parents, plus Goku and ChiChi.
"A blackmail, little sister. It turned out she knew everything." He emphasized. His hand went to scratch the back of his head.
Goten emerged from the small hallway and told his side of the story. "She was kidnapped about a month ago. It wasn't even worth noting, because it only lasted a couple of hours. We had to look normal throughout our outing, almost as if we enjoyed it. She told me that if I didn't go out with me, she'd tell the world of our heritage." He looked over at the young Briefs, hoping she would understand.
"While we sat there, waiting for the food, she told me that she had been kidnapped. Whoever took her, told her to grab as much information as possible. 'I might be signing my death warrant, but here goes...'"
"What information Goten?" His father asked.
His head cocked over toward Toshiro and Mai. "The toxin and whatever you brought with you."
'Damn.' Toshiro thought. 'They can't be serious.'
"Do we know anything more about them? Did she happen to mention who took her?" Bulma questioned as he shook his head.
"Every time the subject was brought up, she was really hesitant. Like something was keeping her from telling everything."
"Sounds like you were being watched. All she is to them is a pawn, completely expendable." Here I thought she wouldn't shut up." Bra finally spoke up. Her future nephew stepped to the side as she emerged from the small crowd.
"Why would she tell you almost everything if you were being watched?" Vegeta wondered.
Bra turned back to face her father. "They let her, but they wouldn't let her say anything about them. She was threatened with something to keep her quiet."
The room lay silent for a moment.
"Are you mad, Princess?" Goten asked her sincerely.
Her features soured first, and then turned angry. "What do you think?" She exclaimed. "For a blackmail, you didn't have to enjoy it so damn much!"
The room exploded in laughter, thinking she was joking. The young Son was confused. "How would you know, I could've been hating it!"
The sixteen year old had had it. As she began to close the gap between them, Pan pulled her back and backhanded her older brother. Bra left with silent tears falling as the room quit their laughing. "You are such an ass, aren't you? She hid in the crowd, waiting for you, she watched you leave with her. Hell, you called her to go there!" She hit him again for good measure, and walked toward her room to comfort her friend.
"But I didn't call her; I left my phone at home." He held his hand to his face.
'The plot thickens.'

Hours had passed and Pan and Bra were becoming bored. "Do you wanna spar?" Pan asked, putting down her magazine.
Her best friend looked over from her spot on the floor. "Nope, I don't have any sweat pants. Plus, you're too pregnant."
Pan frowned. "And just what does that mean, dear friend?" She sneered the last couple of words.
Bra continued to read a piece on the perfect back to school look as she explained. "Saiyan pregnancies are accelerated. How far are you, two months? Congratulations, you're actually three months. And seeing as how every half-breed as we are called was birthed by human mothers, you could be even further, because you yourself are Saiyan."
"And you know this how…?"
The Bulma look-alike scoffed. "I may act like a ditz, but I'm not stupid."
Pan sighed, "sorry B-chan. I didn't mean it like that." The small beige bedroom became quiet again, save for pages being flipped.
"Don't worry about it." She finally broke the long silence. "As your friend, it's my job to keep you out of trouble."
"Good to know." Pan hopped off of her bed and began changing her clothes. "I'm going to spar with the guys."
The bright-haired young woman exclaimed, "didn't you hear a single word I just said!?"
The young Son opened the door and smiled.
'Stubborn Saiyaness.'

The inky black sky became littered with white specks. The countryside showed an eternal peace, day in and day out. With no moon visible, the sky looked so much larger, open to many more vast possibilities.
"Grandpa, what's it like?" Toshiro asked, laying back in the soft grass.
Vegeta rolled his eyes, "what is what like?" He disliked the noise of the small house, so his only escape was the outside. So when his little bit of quiet was mutilated by a time bouncing brat, he was more than annoyed.
"What was it like out there? Grams doesn't know many stories. So whenever we were curious about that stuff, we knew we could never get any answers." Mai said, plopping down near the older Saiyan. She took a deep breath of the mountain air, and exhaled the ever-mounting stress on her mind, body, and soul.
"It was dark, silent, and strangely peaceful." He grumbled after a long silence. "Especially when I was on a mission far away from that lizard freak."
"What was your home like?" The dark purple haired teen asked, tracing the stars with his eyes.
"Shiro!" His sister whispered harshly.
Vegeta caught the warning from the young woman, but ignored it and answered the question. "As a warrior Prince, social gatherings were never my idea of fun. I'd much rather have been training. The only way I would go, was if my poor mother forced me."
The teens chuckled before he continued.
"The planet was of the desert kind. Baron and hot, though no one paid any mind. The gravity was at least ten times what it is here. And highly advanced in technology for the time. I'm only sorry that none of you could ever see it like I did." He finished, settling into a memory.
Mai smiled, whispering, "I found it."
Bulma smiled at the three of them from her spot at the back door. "Thank you Vegeta, I think they needed that."

"This bed is really small, Panna. Isn't there a bigger one?" Trunks joked. The two of them had been pushing the limits of the twin-sized bed, almost falling off a few times.
Pan looked up in the darkness and chuckled. "Why, you don't want to be close to me?" She chided.
"Oh on the contrary." He answered, kissing her lips tenderly. He smirked that devious smirk of his before whispering against her ear. "I want to be closer than close to you." The arm that snaked around her waist pulled her closer to his chest. She let out a quick breath before he kissed her again, this time more passionately. Their tongues danced as Pan melted right into him. Soon, she pulled away breathlessly and brought her head to rest on his chest.
"Sweet dreams, my love." He whispered as she was lulled to sleep by the sound of his heart.
The cave was dimly lit with oil lamps. The walls were a mud color, light and so densely packed, one would think it solid rock, and not just dirt. The straightaway was wide and squared in a cookie-cutter format.
So much for it looking like a normal cave.
Pan had been walking, and walking for what seemed forever before she noticed something different: she could hear the clank of footsteps... hers. 'How long have they been like this?' The raven haired wondered. She looked down and saw solid concrete tile.
There was a narrower path to her right that stopped at a metal door. 'A lab?' The Saiyaness questioned. As he tip-toed to the door, she heard the sound of machinery and voices.
"Then go get it you sorry bastard!" A voice boomed. Next thing she knew, the intricate locks on the steel door were unraveling, and the door opened. Pan looked everywhere, there was no where to hide! On the other side of the door, there was a young man, whom couldn't have been more than twenty-two.
They both looked like deer caught in headlights as the young man panicked as well. His movements between Pan and those inside of the lab fidgety. "What do I do?" She heard him say to himself.
Suddenly, large men with machine guns cornered Pan and the young worker."we have the intruder secure, proceed to phase two." They charged at her as she jumped toward the ceiling, making the five collide with each other.
The Demi-Saiyan watched as the man she had encountered at the door was shot and killed. The shock was short-lived before Pan caught gravity and fell to the floor.
As Trunks unconsciously tightened his grip on his mate, she awoke and began struggling against him. Her only half-conscious mind making it difficult to tell reality from fiction.
She eventually freed herself from his iron hold and fell to the wooden floor below. The onyx haired girl was fully awake now, and shaking in fear. Her heart beat too fast and her mind spun.
Trunks awoke to the sound of the fall and sprang to comfort her. He saw the horror in those dark eyes, cutting through the darkness. "Sshh Pan." He cooed into her ear as she cried into his chest.
The door opened slightly to Goten, who was right next door. "What happened?" He mouthed, flipping on the light.
"Nightmare." He mouthed back, combing his fingers through the crying woman's long, silky hair. "You're okay." He said. "You're safe now."
xXxXxXx
The morning light rose through the windows of the Mt. Pao home. The smell of breakfast and the sound of bustling Saiyans filled the air. "Its okay grandma Chi," Toshiro said in reference to making tea, "I'll get it."
Trunks and Pan cane downstairs last, deciding it best to sleep late after what happened.
"How'd you kids sleep?" Goku asked looking concerned for his daughter. Her eyes had dark circles under them, and they looked as though the life had been sucked right out of them.
As Pan poured a cup of chai tea she yawned, "had a nightmare, and it wasn't good."
Toshiro wasted no time asking her what happened.
The seventeen year old tried not to think back too hard on what she saw, so she only gave a few words. "Cave, hidden lab, big guys, and guns."
"What'd the big guy look like?" He asked, knowing where this was going.
She looked puzzled. "He had two long scars across his face, and a lazy eye."
Mai sighed as she left the table. "This can not be happening. Not again."
Did you enjoy it? Reviews are nice! Next update eventually lol
