Clinching her eyes shut the goddess panicked trying to think of a way to live. Wait that was it! Hopefully her vocal chords still worked. "M-Mizuki wait if you're going to do this I want a kiss first. One kiss is all I ask." Finally tugging the strange material covering her top off the Hebi sit back, staring down at her pleading look the familiar smiled leaning in close.
"If my future mate wishes for a kiss, I suppose it isn't too much to ask." Watching as the snake closed his eyes and his lips sealed over hers Ashi sighed waiting for him to pull back. Feeling fangs prick her lip she growled against him. Pulling away Mizuki traced a finger over her lip licking the blood off.
"Scales?" Humming as he started on her pants pausing when he recognized the smugness in her soft voice. "You done goofed. Now get the fuck offa' me!" A green glow surrounded the snake as he was thrown across the room slamming into the wall. Feeling a massive aura closing in fast the deity smiled as her favorite Kitsune tore the door off storming into the room. Blinking at the scene in front of him a snake giggling and laughing to himself and his master half naked the youkai growled feeling his claws lengthen. Pulling off the first layer of his kimono Tomoe wrapped it around the god sniffing along her neck checking for any mortal wounds before crushing her to his chest.
"Ashi, I found you." He breathed. Looking at the teal eyed girl when she didn't respond right away he frowned "Thank God you're alright?" Feeling how hard he was gripping her she sighed nosing his neck, he sounded so worried about her, shutting her eyes the teen smiled.
"I'm fine. Mizuki just paralyzed me with his venom but it'll ware off in a while." Propping her up on the pillows in the floor the fox snarled baring elongated fangs at the Hebi. Stocking over Tomoe gripped his neck lifting him off the wooden floor.
"How dare you try to claim my master for yourself? She is mine." Paling the snake tried to pry the vice like hold from around his neck as phantom snakes surrounded him forcing the fox away back over to his master.
"I wasn't expecting you to find us, Tomoe. If I'd known my mate was a goddess before I took her I would have doubled the barriers around the temple." Eyes tracking the progress of the white snakes the teen shivered as one slithered over her legs making the demon sneer. "How foolish to try to burn down the shrine of a water god. An exiled monster and a god's familiar aren't even on the same level. You don't have the right to look at Ashi-Sama let alone touch her." Fisting her hands the deity forced herself up not caring if Tomoe's kimono slid from her shoulders.
"You take that back you son of a-" Breaking off as the fox laughed she quirked an eyebrow before yelping as flames exploded from the silver kitsune's body.
"The shrine of a water god?" Smirking the youkai let his flames consume the room. "Your goddess is dead and this temple is nothing but fantasy." Pulling Ashi to him a sadistic grin spread over his features. "You will pay for laying a finger on my goddess!" Panicking the snake jerked around trying to find some way to stop the fire, even his water Hebi were wasting away.
"Mizuki-dono! Mizuki-dono! There's fire in the garden!" Pupils constricting the reptile dashed from the room. Keeping his hold on Ashi Tomoe started forward frowning when the land god stumbled with her steps. Smiling up at him she blushed as he wrapped his outer kimono around her again before lifting her into his arms and following after the snake. Stopping behind the snake the fox frowned sensing the holy aura radiating from the blooming tree.
"I understand now, the tree is the only thing that's real here." Dropping his head Mizuki sniffed.
"Yes Yonomori-Sama's tree is very special to me. You understand right? Being a familiar yourself Tomoe-kun." A peaceful smile came to the wild fox's face surprising Ashi.
"Yes I understand so well it hurts." Feeling his youki spike the deity braced for his sudden movement. "I'm going to burn it to the ground as punishment for taking Ashi away from me!" A column of foxfire engulfed the tree charring the petals. Tweaking the kitsune's ear the land god rested her forehead against the side of his neck.
"Foxy that's enough. How would you feel if someone smashed Mikage's mirror?" Stopping his attack Tomoe let his master slide from his arms wobbling over to the weeping serpent. "Mizuki, Yonomori's tree is safe." Crouching beside him she gave a gentle squeeze to his shoulder gaining his attention. "Tomoe's come to get me so I can't stay here and neither can you. Being alone for so long isn't good for anyone. You're my familiar now so you're part of the family." Wiping his eyes the Hebi gazed up at her.
"Really? Even after what I tried to do?" Frowning down at the mark on her arm she sighed pinching his ear.
"Just don't let it happen again. I'd hate to have to kick your scaly ass." Standing back up she ran a hand through her midnight hair. "I don't think we can take the whole tree with us but if you can transfer a sapling with enough of Yonomori's aura the little spirits can probably come too." Crossing his arms Tomoe snorted walking beside his master.
"Like hell their coming with us." Glaring at the silver fox she tugged his ear.
"I'm grateful that you came but please don't argue with me on this, foxy. I've had one hell of a day, we can go back to normal tomorrow." Huffing the furry appendages flattened.
"Fine but if he proves to be just as useless as I know he will I'm gutting him." Pinching the bridge of her nose the teen counted back from ten.
"You always give me the most wonderful mental images." Turning back to the snake who had been transplanting a sapling like she suggested she smiled kneeling down to ruffle his hair. "Don't worry Mizuki if you ever get home sick you can come visit here anytime you want." Smiling the snake stood nodding at his new master.
"Hai Ashi-Sama. Yono, Mori!" Both red eyed spirits floated out of the temple giggling.
"Mizuki-dono we have a goddess again!"
Waiting for the snake to finish filling in the dirt around the plum tree Ashi smiled watching not only Kotetsu and Onikiri play with her mutt but also Yono and Mori. Setting back Mizuki wiped his forehead smearing dirt across it. Giggling the land god tapped a petal making it bloom. Because of the trees meaning to the snake Ashi had wanted to have it planted in the center of the shrine in the little garden there. Downing another cup of sake Tomoe rolled his eyes not at all liking the way the snake kept inching closer to his goddess. Catching the fox's eyes the deity wondered over grinning. "Come on foxy don't sulk, I couldn't just leave him there, ya know? Everyone needs someone." Gripping the small cup tighter he looked away.
"You are not his someone." Plopping down beside him she laughed watching the familiar scold all 4 shrine spirits for making the dog knock him over.
"You never know I could be. Hell I could be bird-brain's. We can't control who we fall in love with. Just like you, one of the girls at school could be your mate thingy." Seeing his scowl deepen she snickered dumping shoulders with him. "Come on some of them are pretty cute ya know."
"Never in a million years." Pulling her knees up she pouted when they wouldn't reach her chest. She really didn't see how girls in Anime did it.
"If I were to die you probably wouldn't get that depressed but you'd still be alone." Eyes snapping to her he frowned. "I couldn't just leave him there to suffer."
"That's absurd." Grinning she shook her head after he tapped her with his fan.
"Hey do you want some cocoa?" His ear twitched giving him away. "Coming right up." Standing she shuffled over to the kitchen winking over her shoulder. Sighing he ducked his head; the bruises were still there…
'I have to remember that humans are fragile. I could break her if I'm not careful.'
Cracking the girls locker room door open Ashi sighed having to once again degrade herself in gym, blinking as Ami ran out screaming about to perverted monster the god hung her head flipping the lights on staring into the large eyes of a low level youkai. Flinching as an overly moist tongue drug itself across her face the teen growled throwing out a fist and knocking the thing into the lockers. "Please can you just leave I've a stressful last few days." Cackling the creature floated up.
"Chocolate! You taste better than the strawberry!" Dashing around the corner of the lockers she wished she had taken Kurama's warning to heart about the darkness getting thicker. "Noo come back chocolate!" Ducking into a corner she throw up a weak barrier.
"Fuck right when I need him and foxy decides to take a nap." Sniffing the air the demon turned back to the door as it cracked open.
"Ashi?" Squealing the pervert drifted towards the door stopping as a shoe blocked his path. Pulling her out of the way the tengu frowned as Tomoe shoved his way inside looming dangerously over the sobbing demon. Smirking the crow steered the girl away leaning back in to mutter.
"See I told you to stay out of dark places…" chucking a random shoe at him she flipped the bird the bird.
"Oh go lay an egg." Laughing he left the master and servant to take care of the low level youkai. Fighting against his hold Ami tried to peek back.
"Kurama-kun what was th-" Darting forward the pop star pecked her cheek.
"Ami let's keep this between us okay?" Blushing she covered her face.
"O-Okay." Rushing back to the locker room the redhead sighed not seeing any other demons to be taken care of.
"You could have at least let me get one more hit in before getting rid of it." The fox shrugged pushing the crow outside with him so Ashi could change.
"You weren't needed."
Peeking over her book the land god sighed seeing Ami duck behind the door again. Turning half an ear to the two demons arguing she laughed. "If you're always by her Ashi will start to hate you." Baring a fang in a sneer the kitsune growled.
"Only someone who's already hated would know that." Tossing an eraser at both males she groaned.
"Look if you two are gonna have a dick fight go elsewhere, I don't care if any other girls wanna see, I don't." Staring at her than back at themselves the two growled renewing their argument. Pushing her chair back Ashi ventured over to the open hall window peeking out. "Sup Ami?" Screeching the little redhead jumped away. Realizing it was only Ashi she sighed pushing her pointer fingers together.
"I still haven't told Kurama thank you for saving me the other day. He's always surrounded by girls and I'm so transparent that no one sees me." A sly smile spread over the deity's face.
"You like him don't you?" Gasping Ami waved her hands around denying it.
"N-No what gives you that idea?... Fine I do but he'd never notice me." Nodding to herself the raven made up her mind.
"I'll see what I can do about getting the bird brain alone so you can talk to him." Catching Ashi's sleeve as she stood the ginger blushed letting go.
"Um I just wanted to see how the exorcism went the other day. You, Tomoe-Kun, and Kurama-Kun took care of it right. As long as I can remember I've been able to see ghosts, so if you can too maybe we can be friends." Catching the tengu's attention she waved him over pushing a sticky note to his shirt with air scribbled on it she pushed him out into the hall. "Ami has something she wants to say to you, so listen." Blinking down at the little high schooler he smiled.
"Yes what do you need?" Blushing harder she ducked her head.
"I-um I just wanted to say thank you for saving me." The crow smiled.
"It was no problem, but I have to ask who are you?" From where she stood ease dropping on the conversation the goddess smacked her forehead. Really he'd already forgotten her, no wonder she called him bird brain. Ami jolted stuttering badly.
"Oh well you stopped that ghost from getting me the other day." A light bulb seemed to flick on upstairs.
"Oh yeah, you were the strawberry girl. I remember now. Nekota Ami right?" Nodding over enthusiastically she smiled.
"Yes that's me." Walking away Ashi hummed to herself, proud that she had given Ami the chance to talk to Kurama.
"You realize you just tied their fates together right? Once the girl finds out she's bonded to a youkai no thanks will be given." Scowling at the pessimistic kitsune the land god gently tugged his silver hair.
"I don't think so; Ami said she could see the demon in the locker room meaning she's a median. If she can already see demonic attributes than she has to know something's up already. It's not like they have to be lovers anyway, they can just be friends." Moving her hand to rub his ear she sighed. "Why do you always have to shoot down human/demon relationships?" Chewing on his pencil the fox growled.
"Even if youkai and humans get along, the mortals are still defenseless; they grow old and die in a fraction of a demon's life span. It can't work." Watching the wild fox stomp away she let her head thud against the wall, repeatedly. Turning to her he sighed walking back over to smooth her hair back into place playing with the ends. "You shouldn't worry about other's love lives; your own isn't looking that great." Pouting her lips she smacked his hand away.
"Says the ancient kitsune who doesn't have a mate yet."
"I've never looked for one, nor do I plan to. I'm okay with just protecting you." She threw her hands up nearly smacking him in the face.
"But don't you want cute little kits of your own one day? Seriously I wanna be able to spoil um'. And how can I be aunty Ashi if they never exist?" Raising an eyebrow he took a deliberate step back.
"You're crazy."
"Why thank you I work so hard at it."
"Yami-Senpai can I have a word with you?" Looking over her textbook Ashi glanced around spotting a freshman standing in the doorway. Nodding she knocked Tomoe's feet out of her lap before standing. Following after the girl she yawned, studying was so boring and Tomoe wasn't helping matters just staring at the wall he was supposed to help her dammit! "I'm a first year Sakurada Yumi. And I'm in love with Mikage-Senpai, but I've never spoken to him." Pinching the bridge of her nose the deity counted back from 10, waiting for the girl to finish." I was wondering if you and Tomoe-kun were dating?" Blinking she frowned.
"No we're not. But let me get something straight, you don't love Tomoe. You can't you've never talked to him or hung around him. You don't know him at all, his favorite food or color or even what he's really like. You're lusting after him, or infatuated with him. Love takes time to develop. But if you wanna talk to him I suppose I can walk home by myself today, you just gotta snatch him before he leaves school." Gaping at the senior Yumi nodded.
"Thank you so much…"
Blinking down at the note his master had left for him the fox sighed, she was up to no good he just knew it. Pausing when a freshman stepped into his path he frowned smelling the hormones coming off of her. "Mikage-Senpai is was wondering-"
"No." Tearing up she grabbed his sleeve.
"Yami-Senpai left early so you have to walk home alone, let me walk wi-"
"No I'm not alone." Breezing past her he scowled catching Ashi's scent on the wind before she stomped around the corner.
"The fuck Foxy? You're an ass ya know that? She only wanted to walk with you." Catching her hand he tugged her after him growling to himself.
"Don't try to set me up with a human girl again." Stopping he turned gripping both her shoulders. "You are my top priority." Blushing she looked down. Shrugging his hands off she smiled.
"Can't blame a girl for trying. Come on lets go home." Watching her walk away the fox smiled, no he couldn't, that would be like blaming her for being Ashi. And he didn't want that to change.
Sooo should I rather just do the Anime episodes or go all the way through the Manga? I hoped everyone liked this chapter.
