Scratching her head Ashi watched Kurama try to talk to Ami only for the girl to blush and dash away stuttering some excuse. Really was it too hard for the girl to stay put long enough for the tengu to get done asking her out? Pushing out of her chair the marriage god pushed the rest of her cocoa over to her sulking familiar following after the tiny girl. Finally catching her in the hall breathing hard and mumbling to herself she cleared her throat. "Ami why don't you hear bird-brain out? He just wants to take you one a date." Ducking the pinkette shook her head.
"I don't know why, it's just he's so… so I don't know. He's famous and rich and hot. Why would he want to go on a date with me?" Running a hand through her raven hair the teen sighed.
"Ami you're adorable. What guy wouldn't want to date you? Now come on I'll be your back up." Being pulled behind the goddess Ami stumbled and tried to pull out of her hold but gave up after the third useless attempt. Dropping her friend's arm when they stood in front of the crow Ashi backed away going back over towards Tomoe who scowled mumbling about taboo or something. Swatting his arm she tweaked his ear. "Hush Foxy." Being as she was just human the girl couldn't hear what was actually being said but when the short female glanced over at her she gave thumbs up for encouragement. Ami nodded before darting over towards them.
"Oh Ashi you have to come with us! Kurama-Kun invited me to the aquarium with him today after school. I would ask Kei-chan but she already has plans with her boyfriend today." Barely looking up from her phone the ginger nodded.
"Yeah Ashi why don't you and Mikage have a double date with the pop-star and Ami?" Spitting his hot chocolate out the fox growled.
"Like I would court this air head, you must be joking." Huffing Ashi crossed her arms, a little hurt that the kitsune still didn't like her in the least bit even after nearly half a year.
"Well fuck you too Tomoe. Stuck up pretty boys aren't my type either, so I think you're safe from my affections. I'll just take Mizuki with me than, he likes me well enough." Narrowing violet eyes he lifted his lip in a silent snarl. The snake couldn't even protect himself from a human no way was he going to let the useless reptile guard his goddess.
"I didn't say I wouldn't go with you just that I wouldn't court you."
"Oh I see how it is." Turning her chair around to face the front again the deity sighed slumping in her chair, she probably wouldn't have taken that too seriously had her chest not been on fire. Grabbing her bag she pushed to her feet smiling at her friends. "Well let's get going before the afternoon crowd gets there." Following after the tengu and Ami she ignored Tomoe as he tried to get her attention. Falling back the youkai growled, fine if she wanted to play at this game so would he.
Stopping to admire a jellyfish Ashi rubbed her chest wishing she had brought her pills with her. Even with her taking the medication everyday her chest still burned. Watching Tomoe cock his head at a silly looking fish she rolled her eyes walking over to lean on the rail beside him. "I think you don't wanna be here about as much as me." Peeking over his master's head the demon watched Nekota drag the disguised, if you could call a hat and sunglasses, pop-star out of the tunnel laughing at something he'd said.
"If you didn't want to come why agree to it?" Realizing her friend was gone the god stood up straight headed out of the tube.
"Ami needed the support. You saw how skittish she was the first forty minutes we were here. She's warmed up to the bird-brain now." A sign catch her attention as she passed making her gasp. "Oh baby sea otters are so cute!" Darting off she bumped into the back of the crowd hopping to get a look. Smirking the fox gripped her hips lifting her effortlessly up to have a peek.
"Can you see it now?" Smiling she patted his head rubbing his ear for good measure.
"Yes, thank you Foxy." Loosening his hold he let her slide down in his hands. Catching his arm she pulled him through the crowd tripping over a random bag. Knowing the ground was rushing up to greet her she shut her eyes waiting for the impact. Strong arms wrapped around her pulling her against a warm chest, blinking her eyes open the teen blushed pulling away from the fox. "Thanks…" Taking her hand Tomoe led her the rest of the way. Eyeing the two Kurama decided to ignore it.
"Ami-chan wants to see the night sky before we leave." Nodding the four took the elevator to the roof. Going to separate sides to have privacy they stared up at the sky. Feeling someone glaring at her Ashi looked over at the kitsune, shivering from the intensity of his stare.
"Never agree to do this again. This was a day wasted, not to mention the snake has been alone at the shrine." Letting her head rest against the cool metal the god sighed.
"Learn to have fun foxy. Really were you ever fun before you became a bitter old demon?" Running a hand through her hair the fox gave it a good yank before turning around to interrupt the other two.
"Oi we're leaving." Rubbing her aching scalp the goddess waved waiting until the elevator doors closed to catch his tail smoothing the fur up the wrong way before dropping it and grinning innocently up at him. "Now you're just being ridiculous." Humming she had a light bounce to her step following him back home. Maybe it was because her chest had quit burning…
"You mean I can go with you?!" Giggling Mizuki picked the land god up swinging her around in a hug. "I've never been to the beach before." Waiting for the room to stop spinning when the snake put her down she smiled holding out a pair of swim trucks.
"Yes scales you can go but remember no supernatural business." Placing her hands on her hips Ashi rounding on the growling kitsune. "And you foxy, you're invited too. I don't think Kurama would know what to with himself if you weren't there to bitch at him." Scowling the fox snatched the black and red flamed shorts from her hand.
"This is pointless I can't go in the water anyway." Shoving another towel in her barrowed beach bag the deity sit back wondering if she should take more than two pills for today. Deciding against it she slid the bottle into the front pocket on the bag. Waving him off in a dismissing manor she dug around for her sun block. More visitors had been coming to the shrine which meant the human god didn't have to live on cheap Ramen and she could indulge every once in a while.
"You can watch our things than. No one will mess with them if a big scary demon is next to um." Crossing his arms Tomoe frowned.
"I don't think I like that tone of voice." Ignoring him she threw her bag over her shoulder walking out of the shrine followed by a bubbly snake familiar, pausing the god turned back looking for a sign of her temple spirits. Knowing they were probably playing with her dog she sucked in a breath.
"Onikiri! Kotetsu! Yono! Mori! We're leaving now! Take care of the shrine while we're gone!" A collective cry of 'Bye Ashi-sama' echoed back from the inner court yard. Going to the beach only served to put the fox in a worse mood, glaring at anything and everything that moved he marched over to a chair and set down, growling when his master shook her head at him. Spotting Kei and Ami through the crowd she laughed seeing the pop-star airing up a float for his date. Waiting for them to get closer she smiled. "I know you wanted to use this to get hit on Kei but I wouldn't feel right knowing that Mizuki and Tomoe stayed behind at home." Looking up from her phone the teen stopped pointing behind the goddess.
"You live with those two and aren't trying anything with either one of them?" Looking over her shoulder Ashi felt her mouth go dry. Both the Kitsune and Hebi had pulled off their shirts to sunbathe. Ashi knew it was a hopeless thing though youkai and familiars were naturally pale. Walking over she poked Tomoe in his chest making him lift the book off his face.
"Who would've guessed you looked like this under all those layers, foxy. I thought you weren't going in?" Pushing her hand away the fox set up.
"All demons are in top shape. And I'm not swimming but I am a fox we enjoy the sun." Shrugging the teen started pulling her shirt over her head before letting it fall beside his chair, shimmying out of her shorts she grinned at Mizuki seeing him watching her. Kicking the clothes under Tomoe's chair she tweaked his ear which had popped out of the illusion with a soft 'puff'. Feeling his face color the kitsune shoved his book back up. Ashi may not have been a beautiful demoness but no male would pass up a chance to look at her, a thought that had his vision flashing red. The black and turquoise swirled bikini suited her even if she was a tab insecure about her figure. Waiting for their master to be out of hearing range the snake hissed glaring at the silver fox.
"Why did you even come? You can't even go in the water because of the Dragon King. Why risk being this close?" Setting up the familiar swung his legs over the chair. "I won't tell Ashi-sama, so stay out of my way today." Smiling Mizuki waved drawing the goddess's attention. "Ashi can I come join you?" Pushing her hair out of her face she motioned him over smiling and running over.
"Yep, I need you anyway. Kurama suggested a game of Joust; though obviously we don't have the noodles so Ami and I are just gonna try to push each other off." Wrapping an arm around her shoulders the reptile smirked back at the snarling Kitsune. Wading into the water Ashi waited until they were waist deep to push Mizuki down and climb on his shoulders, taking that as his sign the tengu crouched letting his date scramble on top of him. Facing each other the girls locked fingers while Kei looked on screaming go. Pushing against her Ami grunted struggling to move the raven haired girl, feeling a shiver go down her spine the deity lost focus ending up head first in the water where the current swept her away. Gasping for breath as she broke the surface Ami clinched her yellow tube for dear life until Kurama picked her up carrying her to shore. Frantically looking around Mizuki paled not seeing or sensing Ashi anywhere nearby.
"Ashi!?" Jerking up Tomoe felt his pupils slit as he realized his goddess was missing. Dashing to the edge of the sea he growled waiting for Mizuki to get within grabbing distance. Gripping the snake his claws dug in making the familiar wince.
"Where is she?" Feeling his youki strain against the binds of his contract Tomoe grit his teeth scanning the water for Ashi again. "What happened to her?" Pushing the green eyed male back he started towards the ocean.
"Wait are you sure you want to do that?" Not even pausing his foot hit the water.
"Ashi's safety is more important than a grudge the Ryuu-Ou has against me." Freezing as a hooded figure emerged from the sea Tomoe snarled making the hair rise on the snake's neck.
"Imagine my surprise when I finally sense your demonic energy after 526 years and it turns out to be your mate." Letting the unconscious female's head lull against his shoulder the Dragon King sniffed her neck to make sure he was right. "Yes your scent is all over her, how foolish to let her wonder into my territory without protection." An umbrella burst into flame next to the tengu who was one of three demons still awake. The crowd had passed out as soon as the Ryuu-ou's head cleared the first wave.
"Let Ashi go." Tracing a claw down her cheek the king grinned watching red bleed into the fox's eyes.
"Maybe I will, if you come quietly. You still have a debt to repay."
"What are-" Cutting him off Ryuu-ou shifted Ashi's body pulling a little book from his robes.
"526 years and 28 days ago at 18 minutes past 2 in the morning you destroyed the north gate at Ryuuguu castle. Killed 7 dragons, 3 giant sharks, 5 rays and a small platoon of sea slugs. Not to mention you took my right eye." Tentacles shot from the water wrapping around the kitsune dragging him towards a giant clam. A ball of blue foxfire ignited in his hand. Clicking his tongue the Dragon King waved his finger before pressing his claw against the god's neck drawing blood. "Come peacefully or she shares your debt."
"Let her go and I'll come without a fight." Weighing his options Sukuna tossed the girl towards the beach where Mizuki darted forward catching her. The hard impact of landing knocked Ashi out of whatever spell she had been under making her snap awake. Focusing in her vision cleared just in time to watch Tomoe be pulled into a giant clam. Pushing out of Mizuki's arms she stumbled over to the purple haired man gripping his robe.
"Why are you taking Tomoe? Surely whatever he did wasn't that bad." Slapping her hands away he frowned down at her.
"The fox came of his own choosing to save you." Gasping the goddess flinched away.
"Then what do I have to do to get him back, there has to be something?" Tapping his chin the Dragon King's sea green eye twinkled.
"If you return my eye to me I will consider his debt paid in full, little human. You only have two days, that's how long it will take for his body to break down inside the clam." Turning he disappeared into the sea.
