Watching the two familiars argue in front of her Ashi smiled, all was right again. "Stop taking the mushrooms from Ashi's plate!" Ignoring him the snake continued nibbling away.
"I don't have to listen to you; she said I could have them." Growling low the fox snatched the fungus away and grabbed the deity's plate to keep Mizuki from eating more, it also kept the human from grabbing another bite. Sighing she waited for them to start fighting and not a minute later the Hebi made a swipe for the food and Tomoe dodged moving further away. Shaking her head the god pulled the kitsune's food closer taking what she wanted as he had been picking food from her plate too before Mizuki had entered the room. Deciding she was full she stood moving towards the door.
"Oi Foxy, Kei, Ami, and Kurama are waiting on us let Scales eat." Pausing both supernatural beings stared at her a moment before the snake snatched the plate and hummed as he sit back down to finish it. The shoji door slid open as the little pinkette rushed in, dressed in a seashell yukata.
"Ashi the shrine nearby is having a festival! Kei wants to go to see if she can get a new boyfriend." Shrugging she started back to her room planning to use a simple black and teal flowered kimono.
"Give us five minutes to get ready and we'll be down." Nodded the tiny high schooler bounced out of the room to admire the tengu in his own dark gray kimono.
"Wow!" Looking around Ashi had to admit the shrine was beautiful and so many people had come. If only she could get Mikage shrine to look this good maybe they could have a festival soon. "See this is what a true god can do for a temple." Scowling at the fox she tugged his ear hidden under an illusion.
"Well excuse the hell outta me for being human. I'm working myself to death with school and the shrine." Frowning he looked away crossing his arms.
"Not hard enough if you ask me." Throwing her hands up she stomped away muttering all kinds of insults that no lady should say out loud. Watching her walk away Tomoe smiled, she was just so easy to rile up and he enjoyed doing it too. Following after the tengu and Ami beside Kei she caught sight of a candy booth.
"Oh candy! How I've missed you so." Grabbing the snake's hand and pulling Kei behind her she bought a stick of cotton candy. Eyeing the weird sweet smelling fluff Mizuki whined.
"What's that? Is it sweet?" Raising an eyebrow at the clueless snake Kei offered him so of hers.
"Here dork try some." Pulling some off like she had done the Hebi popped it in his mouth letting it melt.
"Ohhh that's good." Grinning Ashi offered hers to him missing the look that passed over the wild fox's face. A random wooden saddle flew past the goddess's head smacking the Hebi in the face. Raising an amused eyebrow she squealed catching his foot in her hand.
"You even have claws on your feet. That's so cute!" Tugging his foot away he fought the blush rising on his cheeks. Remembering her friends the deity turned to them. "Why don't you and Kei go enjoy your selves?" Taking her friends hint the other teen slipped her phone inside her yukata and took the snake's arm pulling him away before he could protest. Watching them go the goddess sighed. "I'm gonna have to find a demon just to fit in around them. That's not fair Ami gets a hot crow; Kei gets the adorable snake, and me? I get stuck with you for now, and you don't even like me." Bouncing over unaware that the kimono wasn't made for bouncing she smiled running a hand down his hidden tail. "At least you're cute." Pinching her cheek between his claws the demon pulled her along.
"Just shut up and enjoy the festival." Smacking his hand away she smiled rubbing his ear again before wrapping her arm around his letting her head rest on his shoulder.
"You know I just realized how short you are. With your ears you look taller." Sighing he felt a tick form over his eye. Only his goddess would tease a demon so openly.
Sometime later the three 'couples' met up again where Ashi was pulled to the bathroom by Ami and Kei. Sitting on the sink while the other two fussed over their hair and makeup she hummed. "Kurama-kun is so thoughtful he even bought me a little crow charm for my bracelet." Pulling her sleeve up the pinkette showed the other two.
"Mizuki isn't very romantic but he is sweet. Not normally the type I go for but he's worth a try." When Ashi didn't speak up the two turned to where she sit swinging her legs in boredom. "What about your guy?" Blinking out of her daydream the goddess laughed running a hand through her midnight hair, deciding she needed a haircut, it was getting a little long for her tastes. Tomoe seemed to little playing with it though.
"What Tomoe? Yea right! Like he'd ever date me." Hopping down she sighed. "I'm not near beautiful enough to even draw his attention." Snorting Kei put her lipstick back in her purse and fixed her rose covered kimono.
"Are you kidding, you have natural beauty. Half the girls at school are jealous of your eyes. No one has that eye color." Blushing the land god shook her head.
"I'm still nowhere close to what Foxy is used to." Frowning at each other the other girls sighed.
"Why do you call him foxy?" Looking anywhere but at them Ashi dumped into someone. Backing up she rubbed her head.
"Sorry." Realizing it was a guy close to her age she blushed. "Didn't see you there." A creepy smirk spread across the blond haired boys face making her step back right into another teenager. Seeing her friend in trouble Kei marched over.
"Well what are three babes doing by themselves?" Pulling Ashi from the middle of the trio the brown haired girl scowled.
"Get lost losers." Blondie didn't like the name so he stepped closer facing off.
"What did you say?" Trying to push the two apart the god sighed leave it to her to dump into an asshole.
"I said get lost losers." Jerking his arm out of Ashi's hold he caught her in the nose, ignoring her pained cry the boy stepped forward.
"I'm not a loser." As the two argued Ami took the chance to run and get Kurama who was picking on the kitsune with the help of Mizuki.
"Quick Kei and Ashi got in a fight." Rolling his eyes the fox quickly followed behind the other two demons, his goddess couldn't stay out of trouble could she? The small argument had escalated into a yelling match. Seeing the god still holding a hand to her face as she yelled at one of the three boys Ami wondered over as her boyfriend split the groups up. Red liquid dripped from the deity's nose shocking the pinkette. "Oh you're bleeding!" A deep snarl silenced everyone when Tomoe finally scented the air and the sweet smell of his master's blood filled his nose. Moving out of the way Kurama let the kitsune take over.
"What happened?" Catching the blond boys shirt he bared his fangs.
"She got in the way!" Smirking darkly the youkai let his claws extend before wrapping one around the boy's throat pricking the skin.
"Wrong answer, human." Rushing to the fox's side Ashi placed a hand on his arm missing the way he relaxed at her touch.
"He didn't mean to do it. He jerked and caught me, it was an accident." Easing his hold she glared at the boys. "You should leave before I let him beat you. My nose really hurts, ya know." Scrambling away they disappeared into the crowd. Gasping as Tomoe dent to her level to see how bad her nose really was he growled pulling a cloth from his kimono.
"Humans are too careless." Waiting until he pulled away when the bleeding had stopped she smiled tweaking his ear.
"Thank you, Foxy." Looking down at the scarlet cloth she frowned. "I wish you hadn't ruined this though." Taking a seat beside her his tail rested in her lap where she ran her hands over it gently.
"I'd rather it be the handkerchief than your yukata." Pulling her to her feet the fox started pulling her away. "You've had enough fun for today, we're going back." Resting her head on his shoulder like earlier the god pulled him the other way or tried to. Pouting she tugged harder.
"I wanna get the spirits gifts too. They can't really go too far away from the temple." Letting his goddess pull him along he smiled when she got side tracked by the gold fish booth. "Hey Foxy we have a koi pond at the shrine right?"
Taking a rest from sweeping the shrine the goddess looked up. Not many worshippers had been coming lately and that was a problem. Maybe they needed to have a party or something to let people know the temple was still here. Sure a few elderly folks came once a week but it wouldn't kill younger people to make the journey up the stairs. Frowning deeply in thought the deity missed as Tomoe walked up behind her. Getting tired of being ignored the fox pinched her cheeks pulling them apart.
"Your face will get stuck that way if you keep it up." Swatting his hands away she laughed.
"Shouldn't you be lounging in a tree like a good fox? Even Mizuki is napping on the roof." Tapping her on the head with his fan he smirked.
"I'm going to the Red Light District. You will have to fend for yourself tonight for dinner. I wouldn't trust the snake as far as I can throw him." Running a hand down his tail she grinned.
"Tomoe you can throw Mizuki pretty far, last time I checked. Anyway have fun! Don't do anything I wouldn't. Oh and I'm thinking about planning a festival." Pausing in messing with her hair his ear twitched.
"Why? We are doing fine as it is." Setting her broom against the tree she placed her hands on her hips poking the demon in the chest.
"It'll be good for this place to be lively again. Besides I want people to know the temple is still here." Leaning around the youkai she smacked her forehead. "Even if Mizuki did just dump all the gold fish into the Chazuya." Following her gaze the kitsune growling starting over but a soft hand stopped him. "You, shoo." Making a shooing motion she pushed him towards a long shadow. "Go have fun I'll straighten him out." Smirking he pulled her hair before a blast of foxfire surrounded him and he was gone. A new ache entered her chest as she started towards the snake and she didn't think it would go away no matter how many pills she took.
Sighing Ashi relaxed back against her bean bag chair for the first time in a while. Pulling a pen and note pad over she chewed on the end thinking. Okay Mikage was supposed to be a marriage god so obviously several romantic booths had to be at the festival like a kissing booth and a compatibility booth. And sense half the people she knew were demons costumes had to be allowed. She'd have to get Tomoe to help her with a sign or something later, he had beautiful handwriting and hers was chicken scratch. Speaking of Foxy he'd left late yesterday evening and still wasn't back yet. Maybe she should venture over to the neither world and pay him a little visit. A knock sounded from the front of the shrine. Frowning she pushed to her feet placing her paper and pen down on the table. Peeking around the corner the god wondered where Mizuki was. Pulling the door open Ashi froze taking in the three kitsune in front of her. The female had flowing curls and lovely violet eyes; the eldest male had red hair and green eyes and was possibly the tallest male she'd seen in her life while the blond female only came to her shoulder shorter than even Ami. The little kit was a mix of both silky red hair and violet eyes. Realizing she'd been staring the goddess blushed.
"I'm sorry how may I help you?" The female smiled revealing deadly fangs and Ashi knew that smile anywhere, it was Tomoe's.
"We're here to visit our son, Tomoe."
