Eye twitching Ashi tried to move around the annoying human god only for her a smack a hand on the book case in front of her face. "Aren't you worried I'll try something again?" Sighing she rubbed her forehead as her little shikigami hissed. "Your fox isn't here to save you this time." Smiling the teal eyed girl shoved her arm out of the way.
"Honestly I'd love a reason to beat the shit out of you. You don't scare me." Stepping back Kayako played off her shock by flipping her long hair over her shoulder.
"You have it easy anyway, with a familiar at your beck and call." Growling the land god stomped away trying and failing to ignore the brown eyed girl as she followed behind her. "You have someone to save your ass. And keep your shrine clean, and do errands for you." Slamming her book down on the table Ashi rounded on Kayako grabbing the front of her shirt.
"Please say one more thing. Please do." When the human god kept her mouth closed the marriage goddess pushed her away. "I do not use my familiars as slaves. Tomoe made the contract with me; I didn't make it with him. And Mizuki tried to rape me so I was forced to protect myself." Straightening her clothes Kayako huffed.
"You have two Familiars?" The lights flickered out spooking both girls who jumped, bumping into each other. Hissing filled the air, pointing upward Kayako screeched. "Tsuchigumo!" A boy screamed making everyone else charge towards the doors. Seeing a blast of web heading towards them Ashi knocked Kayako out of the way rolling under a table. Huffing and wincing at the pain in her chest she fished around in her pocket for her sticky pad and a pen. Popping up she gapped at the brown eyed girl as she tried to purify the giant spider by herself. Without checking to make sure the arachnid was dead she spun away. "I think you should clean this place up, after all I vanquished it." Growling under her breath Ashi knocked Kayako's legs out from under her so the next burst of webs missed. Flipping a table over the teal eyed girl pushed it in front of the shaking human god.
"You stay here." Scribbling what she wanted oh her sticky pad the land god was thankful that her pants let her slide on the tile floor. Jogging forward she dropped to her knees sliding under the spider's belly to slap her note on its thorax. Giving a hiss the spider froze as her powers took effect.
Blinking she wondered why she was covered in goop before looking up at the smirking kitsune sitting atop the mushed Tsuchigumo. "I told you, you were hopeless." Rolling her eyes she wiped her face before tugging Kayako to her feet and righting the over turned table. Reaching under the spider Tomoe pulled her sutra free smirking at the messy chicken scratch. "Insecticide?" Crossing her arms she bumped him with her hip.
"What it worked didn't it? I was gonna smash it with that bookshelf beside it but you landing on its good too." Petting the tiny shikigami when it raised its head out of her breast pocket she laughed. "Come on, let's get outta here before someone sees us." Catching his hand she pulled the fox forward. Blinking she looked down at his bare feet which in her opinion were tipped with the cutest little claws. "Where are your shoes?"
Yawning Ashi glanced around at her fellow students waving at Kei, and Kurama when she passed them in the classroom. She'd been sensing something strange since she crossed the threshold of the school building, but she couldn't pin point where it was, it was like the whole building was the source. "Ashi!" Looking up she goddess smiled when Ami came it to view. "It's horrible Ashi. There was a demon in another class room. It looked like a black shadow on the ceiling." Wrinkling her brow in thought she nodded to herself.
"Hey Ami do you still have that charm Kurama got you?" Pausing the pinkette pulled her sleeve down to show the little crow charm. "I'm gonna put a protection spell on it okay?" Cupping the tiny bird in her hands Ashi muttered a spell Mizuki had taught her last week, glowing faintly the charm absorbed the magic. "There now you'll be safe." Ami gasped in awe.
"Wow I didn't know you knew spells." Rubbing the back of her head she blushed.
"Its new." Feeling an annoying aura approaching she sighed when Ami skipped away to set beside Kurama. "What do you want?" Looking over her shoulder at Kayako the teal eyed girl frowned when the human god waved her off dismissively.
"I don't want you; the one I have business with is Tomoe." Spotting the fox a few tables away, arguing with the crow demon she pushed past the land god. Placing her hands on her hips the human god huffed. "Because of you killing that earth spider yesterday the school is covered in miasma."
"So you're telling me to clean the school?" Smiling she laughed.
"Well you did kill the spider, and since the land god can't be trusted to do her job right I'll have to do it but only if you work with me." Shrugging Ashi hopped off the desk she had set on, reaching up to rub his ear she grinned.
"Hey if it'll get me outta class without you bitchin' I'm all for it." Patting her pockets to make sure she had everything the land god started for the door pausing only to place her shikigami on Tomoe's shoulder. "You stay here, okay? Foxy will take good care of you." This plus the glare she sent towards the fox said he would or else. A clawed hand wrapped around her wrist pulling her to a stop.
"Do you know what you're doing?" Patting his hand away she smiled.
"Relax, I got this. Besides I wanna prove that I can actually do things on my own." Turning away she missed the way he bit his lip, and how his eyes flashed red.
'But I want you to depend on me…'
Quickly ducking out of the room Ashi made her way towards the library where the whole mess had started from. Making a face at the black smudge on the floor she pulled her sticky notes free dropping two with the words purify and cleanse into the darkness. "That is probably the laziest exorcism ever…"
"Don't take me for a weakling; I've lived a hundred years. Something like this won't get rid of me." Black strings shot out of the smudge wrapping around her arms pulling her into the blackness before she could scream or summon her power. Sinking further in Ashi's vision swam. "Aaah- so delicious." Feeling herself weakening the goddess struggled only further tangling herself up. "I'm revived! Yes, your energy will be mine." A hand gripped the back of her shirt yanking her free of the shadows.
"Ashi!" Crushing her to his chest Tomoe stumbled back falling with her safely between his legs. Hand shaking he patted her cheek. Gasping she sucked in a breath coughing a mouthful of goop out. "Your aura disappeared, don't do that again." Wiping her face she narrowed her eyes.
"I didn't mean to do it the first time." Pushing herself out of his hold she wobbled out of the way. She'd lost her pen and notepad in there; she'd only get in the way now. Snarling the kitsune jumped to his feet.
"You bastard! I'll rip you to pieces!" Waiting for a response he growled trashing his tail violently on the floor. Vision suddenly swimming the land god fell hard knocking a chair over in her attempt to stay up right. Hearing her fall the wild fox spun around, eyes wide when he realized what had happened the youkai paled kneeling next to her head. "Ashi what am I going to do with you?" Smoothing her bangs away from her eyes he sighed gently lifting her into his arms.
Snarling Tomoe tried to wash the miasma from his hands only for the darkness to slither further up. Lashing out he broke the sink in half, baring his fangs the youkai shut the water off. "Dammit! Why won't it come off?" A sudden vision of his goddess's pale face flashed through his mind followed by much older, unclear memories that had long been forgotten.
"What's wrong? You're covered in blood." Staggering against the wall he gripped his hair. "Don't worry I'll clean it for you…"
'What's happening to me? Why was I covered in blood?' Scenting the air Tomoe hissed rounding on the human god that was smirking in his direction.
"What do you want?" Laughing she covered her mouth.
"You need to borrow my powers to cleanse the school right?" Lifting his lip to bare a fang the demon looked away. "Where's the land god?" Clinching his fists the kitsune bit his lip.
"She's resting in the infirmary." Spinning around Kayako started away.
"I have to see this, how pathetic." Snarling low the sound was enough to raise the hairs on the back of the human god's neck making a shiver run down her spine in terror.
"You will stay away from my Ashi." Hopping over her he unsheathed his claws letting them glim in the sunlight. "If I did not need you, I would gut you where you stand. My Lady is not to be mocked." Nodding numbly she followed quietly behind the wild fox. How was a simple human girl able to tame such a monster?
Groaning Ashi sit up in the hospital bed in the school's nurse's office, rubbing her head that had probably hit the floor a little harder than needed she sighed. She was so useless, not only had she not done what she'd set out to do, but Tomoe had to save her too. The goddess had thought her powers had grown lately but she was still as weak as ever. "Fuck, no wonder Foxy can't stand to be around me. I'm pathetic." A sudden throb in her chest had her gasping for air, dammit now wasn't a time to be having another episode. Fumbling with her pill bottle in her pocket, the cap popped off spilling the little white capsules all over the sheet. Hand trembling she god quickly dry swallowed two before sagging back against the pillow behind her. Waiting for the pain to subside she rubbed her chest blinking when an odd bump between her breasts shifted.
Yipping cutely her little silver and black shikigami raised its head out of the collar of her shirt licking her on the nose. "My, what a cute little shikigami you have. But if I remember correctly, it wasn't supposed to hatch for five more days." Blinking up at the golden eyed wind god Ashi pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Hello Otohiko-sama. Still love the leopard print on you by the way." Smiling he waved her off.
"Now is not the time for flattery, just look at this poor little thing." Completely ignoring the land god's personal space the wind god reached into the opening of her shirt to pick up the not as tiny as it had been fox. "Not only did you have your energy taken but you also ingested some of the miasma. You barely have any power to spare, but now all of it is being used to cleanse your body." Hissing the fox nipped his finger before hopping back to Ashi to snuggle into her hair. Cocking his head to the side Otohiko frowned. "Regardless of how poorly you've treated him the little thing seems to like you." Glancing out the window he sighed. "The school is being over whelmed by miasma. What are you going to do about this?" Setting up again the raven haired girl winced.
"I can't really do anything; my papers were lost while I was inside the darkness." Flicking her forehead the wind god laughed as the little fur ball partially hidden in the teen's hair growled swiping with his baby claws.
"That's why you were given a shikigami, think of it was a talisman, all you have to do is give it a name and it will act upon your wishes." Humming in thought she held her hand out for the fox to jump on to.
'I want everyone to be safe; I don't want anyone to have to suffer in the dark anymore.'
"Let's see…. How about Hikari?" Meeping the fur ball nuzzled her cheek wagging his fluffy tail. A sudden flash filled the room blinding the marriage god momentarily. Leaping from the bed the tiny fox darted towards the door yipping with impatience.
"It would seem that he knows what he must do. As the spell caster you must go with him." Sliding out of the bed she tossed a wave over her shoulder to the wind god before opening the door and jogging after the shikigami. Huffing she closely trailed the silver and black fox blinking when she realized metallic silver paw prints were being left by the furry animal. 'That is so weird…' The darkness was slowly receding with every step they took. Sensing a raising Youki in the air that was more than a little familiar Ashi huffed a sigh. Tomoe must have lost his temper with Kayako. She was a little surprised the girl was still in one piece, the kitsune wasn't exactly a social butterfly.
"Foxy! Wait!" Skidding around the corner of the hallway she tackled the fox to the ground getting an eye roll form her shikigami. Breathing deeply she smiled down at the youkai under her unaware of the glow surrounding her frame. "I'm not made for running." Pushing herself back to her feet the land goddess continued on until her shikigami stopped and hopped on her shoulder. The final wave of light had rid the school of the darkness needed the make miasma, ending in the library. Breathing harder than she ever remembered doing before she sunk to the floor pausing when an iron taste filled the back of her mouth. That was not a good thing. Trying to calm herself she inhaled deeply before exhaling in a big whoosh. Unaware that Tomoe hadn't let her out of his sight after being tackled by her she jumped when he crouched in front of her.
"Ashi?" His violet eyes were alight, just enjoying basking in her godly aura. Swallowing the red liquid in her mouth she gave a small grin. Chest still heaving she forced her body up on unstable legs to move over to a nearby chair.
"I finally did something right. Hikari really is a big help, ya know?" Raising an eyebrow the demon cocked his head.
"Hikari?" Tapping the tiny fox on the head she gave a breathless laughed flinching before she could quiet down.
"This little guy." Blinking hazy eyes she jumped when Tomoe bent down to her level. "I'm dying. I can't breathe." Chuckling he raised a hand to rest on her head running his claws through her hair the black miasma that had covered it before was gone, just being in her presence.
'So this is what purity feels like, it's so warm and welcoming. Like home, like Ashi.'
Yawning Ashi leaned on an up turned palm watching Yu play with Hikari, Tenshi sit beside her sipping a fresh cup of tea at the low table in the common room of the shrine. Pouncing the Shikigami knocked the kit back right into Ashi's lap. Giggling she helped him roll over before nudging him back towards the bouncing silver and black fox. The redheaded kit smiled in thanks before darting towards the little shikigami with inhuman speed. Setting her cup down the golden kitsune smiled running a hand down her yellow tail. "You will make a wonderful mother." Teal eyes widening the goddess chocked of her hot chocolate. Coughing she thumped her chest a few times. Making sure Tomoe was still on the roof with his father she sighed.
"In all honesty I won't live long enough to have children." Frowning Tenshi twitched her ear, hearing the soft padding of the black dog coming closer.
"Surely it does not take that long for a human kit to develop within the womb." Rubbing her eyes as Yoshi made herself comfortable beside her the teen shook her head.
"No it only takes nine months. But I'm sick…" At the vixen's probing stare the girl gave up. "Okay fine so I'm not just sick, I'm dying." Sucking in a breath her violet eyes darted towards the spot where her eldest son set before moving back towards the human.
"Are you positive?" Fishing her pill bottle out of her pocket the raven haired female sighed for what seemed like the thousandth time that day.
"I've known since I was 14. There's no way around it, my body isn't going to hold out much longer. It's like something is missing. Like half of me isn't here." Rubbing her chest right over her heart the human rubbed one of Yoshi's ears. "I've always felt a pull but when I entered the shrine it just stopped. Maybe my body's just tired of fighting." Eyes widening the golden kitsune paled.
"A soul-bond." She breathed quickly covering the slip before the teal eyed girl could question her. Mikage had explained everything to Akki and herself the first time they had visited their eldest at the shrine nearly 500 years ago. He never said anything about a soul-bond though. That was why Tomoe was in such a state when the land god had originally found him. Demons couldn't live without their other half once they had found them. Their very souls began to twine together. Tenshi had thought her son had done a foolish thing as any young kit was bound to do at his age.
"What the hell?" Blinking on of her thoughts Tenshi sniffed wondering who the other kit was, as two kitsune now rolled around on the floor clawing and gnawing on each other. "Hikari?" Pausing in his play a pair of teal violet speckled orbs smiled up at her.
"Kaa-san." Ashi was glad she was sitting down because the world chose that moment to swim as she took in the black silver tipped ears that matched the multi-colored shaggy hair a top his head. A silver black tipped tail gave a wag as he yipped again, baring baby fangs in a wide smile. When his mistress didn't reply the shikigami frowned rolling over to his stomach before pushing himself up and poking her cheek with a claw. "Kaa-san?" The goddess gave a dopey smile.
"Yea that's what I thought you said." Sniffing she tried to keep her eyes from watering as she pulled Hikari to her, running a hand down his tail as a pleased purr emitted from his throat. Laughing the land god realized it was the same sound Tomoe made when she petted him for long periods of time. "How do these weird things keep happening to me?" Holding a hand over her mouth Tenshi tried not to laugh, she really did but with the combination of traits the little shikigami looked more like her son's offspring than a god's helper. Akki and Tomoe appeared in the doorway having to slide the shoji screen closed behind them to keep what little heat they could in for Ashi's sake. Pausing at the scene before him the silver fox felt a tremble in his chest at the sight of his goddess hugging a kit, which looked like a perfect combination of them both. The peaceful moment couldn't last because the little shikigami turned his head spotting Tomoe immediately. Hissing he clung to the human, swiping baby claws at the much older fox.
"Mine!" Blinking the youkai growled snatching the pest up by the back of his collar. A soft pop signaled that the shikigami had transformed back into a little fox that nipped Tomoe's ear before driving into the safety of Ashi's clothes. Seeing where this was going Tenshi quickly ushered Akki and Yu out of the room closed and door firmly behind them. Snarling the wild fox lunged at the unsuspecting goddess ripping her kimono open and grabbed the tiny annoyance that squirmed in his hand. Gapping at the nerve of her familiar Ashi quickly changed from white to red as she realized the demon was frozen staring at her front, that was at the moment only covered by her bra.
"Tomoe!" Shoving the stunned kitsune off she grabbed the closest thing she could, which happened to be one of the pillows they sit on, beating him over the head with it.
"Wait, Ashi!"
Okay so I watched the 13 episodes of Kamisama Kiss in English dub. Gotta say I love Sebastian as Tomoe.
