Chapter 5

Tigress kept walking with her bags of clothes and scrolls over her shoulder. She was finally out of the orphanage, never to come back to it ever again. However; she had always fantasized about being adopted by nice people who would treat her really nice and give her the love she had never received. She briefly looked over to Shifu. Did she expected love to come from him? Absolutely no. She knew the story of Tai Lung. But she knew the one that only masters of the Jade Palace knew. How she discovered that version... another story.

But she knew the betrayal and the love that Shifu gave to that leopard. And how he betrayed Shifu, dumping every pound of love and pride to the dirt as if they were irrelevant things.

She had never experienced heart break or loss...maybe because no one actually loved her or she didn't grew attach to anyone. But she knew that she couldn't expect the same treatment that Shifu gave Tai Lung.

Tigress was quiet, pondering on her thoughts. Shifu noticed this and sighed. It was awkward being with someone unknown to him. He certainly will have to get to know her, the way he has done with his other students...mostly because the feline was now his foster daughter. But the feline was quiet and for what he seen, tough and hard to get through, meaning it would be harder done than said.

"Thank you for adopting me" Tigress finally said, but then felt ashamed, why had she just said that?

"You are welcome. I've been wondering, where did you train like that, or who taught kung fu to you? You were able to defeat some of my best students without difficulty" Shifu said. Tigress smiled, taking pride into her accomplishment, or better said, what would be her answer.

"I taught it myself by getting kung fu scrolls and studying them" She responded. Shifu widen his eyes and looked at her; if she was telling the truth (Which she was), then she was a prodigy.

"That is impressive, but who introduced it to you?" He asked again. Tigress stopped for a moment, as if going to a distant memory...

Flashback... (when she was 4 years old)

Little Tigress was on the bamboo forest, sobbing. Her face buried on her knees. She had been bullied again, like always. This time they called her a monster because of her claws. She didn't mean to break that plate. She really just wanted to hold it, but she grasped it too tight, therefore making it break.

The other kids saw, and Xiang and his friends called her a monster.

Little Tigress cried until she heard someone call her.

"Excuse me, but why are you crying little one" Little Tigress looked up only to find an old turtle looking at her with a gentle smile.

"Aren't you afraid of me?" She stuttered, choking on her tears.

"Why should I be? You are just a little girl" The turtle said, taking a seat next to her. Tigress looked at him curiously,

"The kids at the orphanage are" She responded. The turtle frowned, and Little Tigress started to think she had maybe said the wrong thing.

"Well, don't believe them. Some people are just scared of things that are different. What they don't know, is that different is good" The turtle said, smiling at the tiger. Little Tigress chuckled.

"What's your name little one?"

"Tigress" She responded, wiping her tears away.

"Nice to meet you Tigress. My name is Oogway" He said. Tigress chuckled.

"That's a funny name" Oogway smile and started searching for something on his robe. He was currently coming back from the Council of Masters, so he took some stuff with him to show to his student.

"Here" he said, handing the little tiger a scroll. Tigress looked at it with magic in her eyes, she opened it, revealing some basic kung fu stances.

"What is this?" She asked, still reading the words on the paper.

"That's called kung fu. Maybe you will like it. You already have the strength and spirit of a warrior" Little Tigress smiled in excitement.

"Really!?" Oogway nodded.

"Of course. I apologize but I have some people waiting for me, and we wouldn't want you to stay this late either" Oogway and Tigress stood up.

"Thank you" She said, giving him a tight hug, Oogway smile and hugged her back. He then started to march away, hoping that one day the little girl would become a great person.

Little Tigress watched him go, she looked at the scroll on her hands once again. Somehow this remained her that someone believed in her...and she wasn't going to let him down.

End of flashback...

"I wished I had seen him one more time before he passed away" She said sadly, finishing her story.

"He was a great master" Shifu mentioned. Tigress widen her eyes in realization.

"I'm sorry" She added silently.

"Don't worry. I'm glad you got a chance to meet him and mostly it was an honor that he was the one who introduced you to kung fu" Tigress nodded in agreement.

"Yes. After I mastered those positions, I kept on buying and doing anything I could to obtain more scrolls"

They had gotten to the Palace by now, Tigress opened the door, only to find Po discussing things about her...

(A few minutes before Tigress got to the palace, with Po)

"Guys, let go off me!" Po said.

"Po, wait, maybe she will just forget about the whole thing" Monkey said.

"Monkey, girls are not like boys. Girls remember every single thing. Like when you took my make up to disguise yourself as a girl" Viper explained.

"Seriously, that was 3 years ago!"

"Guys, we are talking about Po and his crush" Mantis said, trying to bring them back from their argument.

"I told you, I do not have a crush on her" Po denied.

"Then why are you blushing?" Crane teased him.

"Am not!"

"I think its cute he likes someone" Viper pipped in.

"I don't like her. She is just...different. Like a really good different. She is really pretty. And she is amazing at kung fu, and she is so determined, and she is really strong and brave" The rest were watching and listening with their mouths agape.

"And she is really beautiful"

"You already said that" A voice said behind him,

"Right, and she is-" Po widen his eyes and bit his lip in embarrassment. He made eye contact with his friends, Mantis seemed to be having a hard time holding back his laughter and the rest were exchanging glances between him and the tiger behind him.

"Hey Ti" He whimpered as he slowly turned around. Tigress was resting her arms in her hips, smirking.

"I was just...well, I'm going to be completely honest with you" he looked to the ground and then back at her, his friends were shocked that he actually had the guts to tell her.

"I always tend to look at the good qualities of people, and I was explaining to them your good qualities because Viper here, was not so excited about having you here" He answered.

"Hey!" Viper complained.

"Right guys?" His friends put on fake smiles and nodded towards the feline. Tigress was not believing any single word he had just told her. She pretended to go with it, because after all, she was flattered and if she weren't so distant, she could have blushed.

"Sure, oh and umm"

"Tigress is the new resident of the Jade Palace" Shifu said, just entering. They all turned their attention to him,

"Wait, but didn't she needed to be adopted? Unless you did the Mind-slip memory thing to the caretakers and-"

"Or he could have just adopted me" Tigress mentioned. Shifu sighed.

"Mantis, you lead her to her room. The rest of you, go train" He then left.

"Woah! That is awesome, so basically Shifu is now your dad!" Tigress just kept an emotionless face. She wouldn't actually call him her dad, maybe not because she didn't want to, but because Shifu wasn't willing on calling her his daughter.

"right. So where's my room again?" She asked, trying to change subjects.

Mantis sighed and started leading her to where the barracks where,

"Here follow me" Tigress and Mantis started walking together. Mantis grinned to himself, maybe he could find out if Tigress felt the same way towards his friend...

Anyway, so in tumblr this person asked this question directed towards Po saying if he was planning on having a girlfriend, so his answer was "...A girlfriend? Uhhhh, I dunno, maybe one day?...I wouldn't want somebody I love getting attacked by bad guys. Luckily Dad, Shifu and the Five can fend for themselves. Haha, besides, why would anyone think I'm boyfriend material? Pffft, am I right"

So...my deep analysis (With the help of my friend) was *drum roll* he obviously wants a girlfriend, to be more specific, someone who can defend herself...Oh look who we have! Tigress!
