PENRYN- Lucifer stood in front of me, looking down; he sighed, and said, "Curse you Penryn Young. You're lucky I like you kiddo" he mumbled and looked me over, "but I will not kill you because of our agreement. Nor can I bring Raphael back… without taking another life." He said proudly, laced with sadness. I ran my fingertips over Raffe's face, "then take mine! He needs to stay alive, I- I can't let him"- Lucifer knelt down, "Penryn… I will not kill you or someone else, I can only kill those in the room to save his life. I might be an angel of Death but I still abide by natures laws. Frankly you shouldn't miss him at all" he stood and began walking away.
"Wait!" I demanded, gently releasing my hold of Raffe, Lucifer turned back, "yes- yes I will allow you to go home as my agreement stated." I shook my head, "people can die in other ways to us. There has to be another way where he can't die physically" I begged him. Sam walked over to me, "Pen… he's gone. You have to"- before Sam could finish his sentence, Lucifer began laughing.
"Penryn Young! You are rather intelligent for a human… I've only met one other like you. Yes- there is one other way… but I don't think you'll like it" he said. I stepped forward, "no. I won't like it. But I hate having Raffe be dead. Now do whatever you have to do" I demanded. Lucifer frowned and stepped forward, "if I take away your memories… Raphael can live. I can take away all of your memories of him, you won't remember a thing. To your mind, you won't who he is or anything he's ever done" Lucifer told me. I gasped inwardly, "I won't know him at all?" I asked softly, he shook his head, "it will be as if he never existed" he said. I nodded, "d- do it. I… can I have a minute alone with him?" I requested. Lucifer growled quietly, "whatever you wish." He almost hated the fact he was played at his own game but… I guess when the Angel of Death allows you to have a minute with your dying boyfriend you accept the attitude.
Rushing back over to Raffe; I waited until Lucifer and Sam both left my sight… Holding Raffe in my arms, I held my tears back, I opened my mouth to say something and then began speaking… softly brushing the dark hair out of his face, "I know… you'll be mad at me when you wake up. But, I can't let you die… and I can't let you go, knowing I left you in hell… I'm sorry Raffe. I'm so sorry. The only thing I can say for when you wake up is that… I love you, and don't blame yourself. Don't hurt yourself thinking I left you, because I chose to do this… I don't know if you'll even now I said any of this but- I love you" I softly pressed a salty kiss to his lips and burned the beautiful image of him into my brain for the last time.
Reaching behind me, I unlatched Pooky-Bear from the stuffed bear. Holding Pooky-Bear in my hands, I brought it up to my lips, whispering, "I know… I'm not an angel and I know you'd much rather have Raffe… But you will stay with him. As your current carrier I demand you stay with him. Raphael is the proudest angel you could ever be with… and you know it. You might just be a sword but you know just as well as I do that Raffe is an angel. And not just any angel, an archangel and the next Messenger, and he can't do it alone, and you don't want to be alone. So… if you have any smarts in that blade of yours; you will return to Raffe's side." I placed the sword next to Raffe, and stood up.
Lucifer walked back in as I stood. "What about my friends, my mother and sister? What will they remember?" I asked him. Lucifer passed his hand, "not a thing. As you forget, they forget, as much as they know, Raffe will have stayed with the other angels at the Aerie. I nodded and walked over to him, "the moment you leave these walls, you will forget him" he reassured me and placed his hand on my forehead. A shock coursed through my body, Sam rushed to my side and held me, a loud shriek echoed through, following the sound, a door opened up. The house in the forest was in view, Lisa and Lou sat around a fire while my dad nervously sat with Paige. Sam raced forward… and then held his hand out to me, I looked back at Raffe for a moment and then at Lucifer, "I word is my honor. Raphael will not be harmed again unless he return to my domain" Lucifer swore. I held my breath and took in one last glance of Raffe… slowly, I took Sam's hand and we passed through the door.
