RAFFE- Sound and smell hit me first, gasping, I shot straight up. Looking around, my wounds were slowly healing from the demon poison Lucifer had killed me with. Killed me. How was I alive? Standing, I looked around… Penryn. Penryn. Where was Penryn? I thought and began to step away when I noticed the familiar metal lying beside me. Why would Penryn leave my sword? I nervously stepped down on my knee and winced at the pain in my chest.
Accepting the rejection I was about to feel, I grabbed the hilt of the sword and heaved up. My heart raced as my arm, swung up with little hesitation. Staring down in wonder, I looked at my sword like it was the first time holding her. I swung around to find Lucifer sitting on a throne, shaving his nails with a nail-file none the less.
"Remarkable girl that one… too bad she let you go" he tossed me a hip sheath. I caught it but stopped. "What do you mean?" I demanded, Lucifer gave a small frown, "I must admit I'm impressed she figured out how to keep you alive, the poor thing" he kept going. I took another step, "talk. Now. Lucifer, what did she do?" I feared the worst. Lucifer stood, and tapped his head, "she saved your life" then it hit me. She had given up the life of me in her memories to let me live. I stumbled back, bracing myself against a wall, "she couldn't…" I mumbled. Lucifer placed a hand on my shoulder, "oh but she did. You should have seen the poor girl, a mess at most when she saw you. Begged and pleaded until she tried bargaining her own life" he clicked his tongue, "she gave up her entire memory of you… just so you know" he whispered and began walking away.
"Lucifer!" I called after him, he looked at me with pity, "you might not be my favorite person Raffe… but I've never seen you as happy as you were with her. Even for temporarily…" he turned the corner and looked away. "I may have taken her memories… but, not her feelings toward you" he muttered, "oh and. The door out is to the left" he stated and left me alone.
Placing the sheath around my hips, my sword rested on my side, and I walked out of the door on the left. I arrived in the forest, hidden in brush by the house. It was dark, and I could see the dimming fire, I looked up at moon, it was the same height of the night I had declared my love for Penryn. Signing, I looked down at my sword, "let's go get our girl back…" I began saying and I could feel the dim joy go through the sword, "… Penryn" I finished my sentence.
PENRYN- I was sleeping in a dark room, on the third floor… something seemed empty, the space beside me blank.
"I love you" was what I heard when I awoke at the dark, dusty hour. I stirred awake… I didn't know what was happening, but all I knew was I heard a comforting voice and I could faintly remember a beautiful face. Someone- or something placed a kiss on my forehead, "be safe, my sweet Penryn… find me again one day" the voice whispered and then, the voice and the warmth it brought was gone.
