AN: Soooo…five years late, Aurora is reborn! Argh. I got so caught up with school and such, that when I finally wanted to come back to it, I couldn't figure out which email was attached to this account. So I finally gave up. I've tried sporadically to figure it out, but it wasn't until today that I actually did it!
Fail. Big, huge, epic fail.
But, now that I've found it again, I would love to continue where I left off! I remember the synopsis of this story and the plot I had in mind. Let's just hope my writing style hasn't changed too much or, perish the thought, gotten worse!
Please R&R to let me know what you think of my grand return. c;
Aurora Anetta Alexandria Abdullah awoke the next morning in the hospital wing, her eyes fluttering open as elegantly as a fairy's wings. She graced the dim room with her exquisite appearance, though she didn't quite understand how wonderfully her beauty affected people. In fact, she thought just the opposite. She thought herself so hideous that she would never be worthy of any kind of affection, which is why she let out a gasp at the sight around her.
Magnificent blooming flowers and gifts of all shapes and sizes surrounded her bed, taking up the next two available beds on either side of her. They consumed all available floor space albeit the little needed beside her bed to allow Madam Pomfrey access to check on her, and it overwhelmed Aurora. Even though nobody really knew her name yet, she had admirers from all over Hogwarts. She reached out to touch the petals of one of the flowers, her plump lower lip trembling.
"Maybe if they're around you long enough, they'll learn to be as pretty as you one day."
Aurora sat up as quickly as she could when she heard him, eyes wide. At the end of her bed was none other than Draco Malfoy holding the biggest, most magnificent bouquet Aurora had ever seen. He had that sly smile on his face, which was absolutely dripping with sexiness. Aurora dropped her gaze to her gruesome hospital gown before looking around the room. He couldn't possibly be here for her…could he?
Don't be stupid, Aurora! Why would he come here for you? You ain't nothang to him. His girlfriend is probably here, somewhere…
She again doubted the effectiveness of her beauty, casting all hope aside that someone like Draco could have any feelings for her. Her foster mother had made it very clear to her that she would never be loved by anyone, let alone someone of any importance. And Aurora accepted this because she had been an outcast her whole life, so even though hundreds of students sent her gifts or flowers while she was in the hospital, she knew that she could never have any friends.
They just feel bad because they know no one could ever like me…
So she just let her head hang as she greeted the blond bombshell, her hair cascading down in front of her face so that she didn't have to look him in the eye with her own deep, mesmerizing gaze.
No one will ever love you, Aurora. You're just…you're just worthless!
Yet Draco set the bouquet on the bed and clasped her hand with one of his own while the other tilted her chin up until their eyes locked. His were as grey as the clouds on a stormy night, and they were immediately entranced by her star-filled eyes.
"Aurora," he whispered, "you're the most beautiful creature to ever grace the world. Even though you lack self-confidence and have no personality whatsoever, we've been through so much together. It's been nearly three days since we met, and you have made it the happiest three days I could have ever wished for."
Aurora felt more tears fill her eyes at his beautiful words, and her beautifully plump lips hanged open with speechless shock. Is this really what he thought of her?
"Dr-Draco…"
As soon as she whispered his name, she was silenced by his lips. Goosebumps sprung up on her arms and she wrapped her delicate hands around his shoulders. A tear escaped from the corner of her eye, and he brushed it away with his thumb. His arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her over onto his lap, where she would sit for the remainder of this intimate moment. Her heart was thudding against her ribcage so hard that she thought it would spring out of her chest at any given second.
How could I have been so blind all this time? I love you, Draco Malfoy. I love you.
Their lips fit together so perfectly, Aurora knew that he was the puzzle piece she had been missing all of her life. The three whole days they had known each other might as well have been an eternity because in that single kiss, Aurora felt as if she knew everything about this man. His kiss was gentle and caring, nothing compared to the passionate lip-lock she encountered with Harry the previous night.
Aurora regretted the thought as soon as it entered her mind. She pulled her luscious lips away from Draco's, scarlet forming on her cheeks. Could it be possible to love both men at once? She shook the ridiculous thought out of her head, her golden hair brushing against her cheeks. The more difficult question she faced was how could both of these men like her back? She was nothing out of the ordinary, so she thought. She was so humble and self-conscious that she couldn't understand the magnitude of her own attractiveness.
Draco rested his hand against the side of her head and planted another kiss before footsteps could be heard from the other side of the room.
"Mr. Malfoy, shouldn't you be in class right now?" Madam Pomfrey said while she pushed a cart full of food to the end of the bed.
"Free period," Draco said, pushing himself off of the bed and giving Aurora a look of longing as if being even just a few inches away from her hurt him more than anything. But he was quickly shooed away by Madam Pomfrey so she could set a tray of food in front of Aurora.
A steaming pile of bacon, scrambled eggs, two pieces of toast, and a glass of orange juice met Aurora's hungry eyes.
"Eat up," Madam Pomfrey told her, fluffing up one of Aurora's pillows. "You gave us quite a scare last night. But you are extremely healthy despite the amount of times you were forced to starve in your foster families and the poor medical treatment you have been given over the years, so once you're finished with breakfast, we'll send you on your way to class."
Aurora grabbed her fork and dug into the food, and even while she ate she was the graceful. Always keeping her pinky up, she happily finished the food that was in front of her. But as she ate, a pit formed in the bottom of her stomach.
Get your act together, Aurora. You can't keep losing control like this! People might start suspecting something, and then…
A wave of guilt and pain washed over her, and she suddenly felt sick. She pushed her tray away and slammed her eyes shut, warding off the negative thoughts. A screaming face filled her mind, and the vision quickly turned a bloodlike red. Tears burned her eyes.
No, I won't let it happen again. I won't hurt anyone else…ever.
This was rough for me. I'm so rusty, it hurts my emotions. D; Hopefully I'll get back into my groove soon. Thanks for tolerating this chapter and my absence! It won't happen again. Your favorite cuddly vigilante is back for good. I've got it backed up to my main email now. Hoorah!
Have a nice day. ;3
