POV MAX
When they arrived John had explained to the doctor that the scars along her back were old wounds from a hiking trip gone wrong, he explained that they reopened twice now in the past four months while she was sleeping and that her blood count was too low. After Max had word with the Doctor, supplying a certain name, he never questioned the story. The nurse was called in and they checked her over. They agree with the blood count, but said it would be better if she stayed over night to get all the blood in and to make sure she was alright. Both Sherlock and Max protested in compliant, but John made them shut up. A few hours ago Max was directed to her room and into her pj's and sent to lie in bed until she absolutely needed to get up. John and Mary had left for their check up on the baby and promised they would come in the morning to tell her what the little one was. Sherlock sat in the chair next to her bed watching her read the book she had brought along with her. Max pretended not to notice, but it was affecting her reading. She looked up at him and smiled.
"Lose something over here?"
"I wanted to apologize."
"Apologize? For what?"
"For the way I acted this morning. It wasn't like me to do that and I promise it wont happen again."
Max looked at him in confusion. She thought of how he had slammed the door in Johns face and how she had shoved him.
"Oh Sherlock, I was just messing around. It's fine, John even said it was fine. So there is nothing to worry about. Besides, that was very much like you."
It was Sherlock's turn to be confused.
"What do you think I'm talking about?"
"You slamming the door in John's face. What else is there to apologize for?"
"That's not what I was talking about. No not at all." Sherlock jumped up and shut the door. "I meant when I showed... human error."
"Human error?"
"Yes human error. I usually keep it under control, but this morning I just let it slip... Why should I feel bad for slamming my door?"
"First off cause it's rude to do that to a friend"
"He was interrupt-"
"Second of all, what do you mean by human error? Are you talking about the kiss?"
"Yes the kiss. And the hugging. And picking you up. I shouldn't have done that, I showed the number one human error. Love."
Max looked at him and saw that he truly thought it was bad. She saw that he was actually apologizing. She looked at him and laughed.
"What's so funny?"
"Sherlock, there is nothing to apologize for."
"Yes there is. I showed-"
"That you care Sherlock."
Max got out of bed and walked over to Sherlock. She place a hand on his cheek and she smiled.
"Sherlock it's bad to keep things bottled up, you know?"
Sherlock smiled at her.
"Sherlock you are human, you make mistakes, you have errors, you have emotions. And if you hadn't done that, if you hadn't been there yesterday to get me to let it go and for this morning, I would think something was wrong. A boyfriend is suppose to be there to protect and help his girlfriend. To be there when she needs someone and to make her happy."
"I'm not what you would call perfect then."
"Sherlock I'm not asking for Prince Charming, I'm asking for you. You're a know it all, with a sick sense of humor, that I love, who is helpful, and protective. Sherlock you're one of a kind and I couldn't ask for anything more."
She leaned up and kissed him. He smiled and returned the favor. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to her. He had already placed his arms around her and was pushing her closer to him. He didn't want to let go, but knew the doctor was coming. He pulled away and looked at her once more. He turned around, Max found her place on her bed, smiling she opened her book. She didn't hear him come back through the door walk over to her bed. She looked up and Sherlock placed another kiss on her lips and pulled back.
"I-"
"Mr. Holmes, I'm going to have to ask you to leave so the doctor can do his work."
Sherlock shoot up and looked at the nurse.
"Just saying goodbye."
He turned to Max and winked.
"I'll be here first thing in the morning. Goodnight."
She smiled and nodded her head "Goodnight."
When Sherlock had left the nurse had her hold her arm out and placed a needle in her arm. Max slowly began to drift off to sleep.
'This isn't right.'
Max knew this drug. They had put her under it many times when she was little. She tried reaching for the needle but the nurse grabbed her arm.
"Now now Maximum. Lets not do that."
She tried to pull her arm free, but she was already to weak. A man came in and he was laughing.
"This is her? This pathetic thing is Sherlock's girl? Are you kidding me? Awe well everyone has there own taste I guess."
The man came over to her. She knew this man. Sherlock and John talked of him often. He tried to kill Sherlock. He was suppose to be dead.
"The game is on Princess. And you're the prize."
He gave her a smile, that she knew was going to haunt her for as long as she lived.

POV MAX
She woke up and wanted to scream. He was so close, too close. She kept her thoughts and her fears deep under the ocean in her mind.
'I won't let him know I'm afraid'
He looked at her and smiled. His head tilted to the side and his smile deepened. She had been here for months. maybe a year she didn't know. What she did know was Sherlock wasn't looking.
"The girl with no fear. The savior of them all. The one who got away. They have many names for you. I like this one here, Satan's spawn, scarier than Hell itself when angered." Humph. "I'd love to see it."
He gazed back at her and twisted himself around.
"The world is now fully aware I'm alive now. So Sherlock should be calling soon. Speaking of him, you were Sherlock's new pet, that was many months ago. Sorry I haven't been around. I need to do some⦠cleaning up. Was it true? Because if you were that meant you have something he wanted desperately. So," He ran up to her and was centimeters away from her nose "What is it?"
Max felt herself fall into a comfortable smile and she leaned in closer to him.
"You want to know? You truly do? Well let me tell you something. Piss off."
"Now, now lets not use that kind of language dear." He then came closer "At least not in front of the guards here. Later."
He moved back and smiled at her. He put his hand on her cheek and moved the stray hair that had fallen from her braid behind her ear.
Max couldn't move. The belts were tight around her wrist and the ones strapped to her waist made it rather difficult to breath.
"Such a pretty face. I wouldn't mind keeping you around."
He leaned toward, ready to kiss her, but Moriarty's phone rang and he answered.
"WHY AM I BEING- Oh Sherlock." He winked at her then got up and began pacing the room. "You call always at the worst of times. I was just getting to like my little prize. A little feisty this one. I see why you liked her." He moved the phone away from his ear and mumbled something to his guard. Who then proceeded towards Max and shoved a gauge in her mouth. She spit it out instantly and the guard getting rather mad tried forcing it back. After his fifth try he gave up and lifted the belts around her wrist and waist. He was tall and strong enough to hold her off the ground and far enough from his body to where it was useless to try and fight her way down. He hooked her up to where her arms hung above her and were spread apart. The belt around her waist disappeared and she stood. The guard kicked the spot behind her knees and she was down again. Then she heard the unmistakable sound of a whip. Fear struck her eyes instantly, Moriarty saw and began to laugh into the phone.
"Oh Sherlock, I'm sorry to interrupt, but what have you done to the poor thing to make it afraid of whips? Scratch that I could care less all I know is-"
Max heard the crack before she felt the impact. She felt the scars on her back open instantly and sting of a new one. She didn't scream out, instead she looked straight at Moriarty. She heard the cracks of the whip, but forced all her attention on Moriarty. Moriarty was smiling with Sherlock's responses to the cracks, but when he noticed Max was unflinching he soon got furious.
"I have to go Sherlock. It's being difficult. Call you back when I'm done. Be waiting."
He ended the call and walked around Max to see the damage. He came back around to look at her.
"I see. You're use to it huh? It bores you. Let me help with that."
He walked over to a case on the other side of the room. He lifted a crafted knife out of the case and gave it to the guard.
"Not to messy please? I want Sherlock to still be able to recognize her."
The guard smiled and nodded his head. Moriarty left the room as soon as he heard the first sign of her weakness. She had tried so hard to keep it in, but the knife was pushed deeper into her cheek and she let out a whimper and knew right away. Big mistake.

Max was slumped only being held up still by her wrist, which were bleeding rather badly as the belts cut further in, turning purple and blue from bruising. Everything hurt, the new scars stinging like mad, but she was use to the pain. Use to the burn that had once been her everyday life. Last time when she thought the scars covered her body, she had been so wrong. There is no lie when it is said that there is not an inch of bare skin the knife or the whip had not touched. She was covered head to toe, with only her clothes to take some damage, in scars. She felt light headed and when her vision had started to become black around the edges, she closed them. Her eyes flashed open when she heard the door jerk free of it bolts. Yep still have black edges.
"Want to say hi to your Sweetie, Sweetie?"
Moriarty motioned for the guards to grab her. They lifted her up and unhooked her, carrying her up the stairs and high above the ground. When they reached the top she saw Sherlock on the screen and her eyes went hard and she put on a straight face. He was not going to see her weak. It would only push him over the edge.
"Say your goodbyes."
He left the room told the bodyguards to follow.
"Sherlock listen to me. Please don't fight me on this just listen. There are people you need to save right? Hes making you save people, just like the first time?"
"Yes, but-"
"No listen. You save them. Forget about me and save them. They need you Sherlock. They need you to save them, to help them, to protect them."
"No. No. NO! I'm not forgetting you. I will find you and I will save you. I promise."
"Sherlock please. Listen to me, I'll be fine. I can handle this, I've done it before, but those people, the ones he has, they haven't. They haven't done anything like this and they are scared Sherlock. They need you right now more than I do. So please for me, save them. Save them all and then when they are all okay, come and find me. Do you understand? Them first then me, okay?"
Sherlock started pacing the room his hands tangled in his hair. He was breathing rather rapidly, and there was no sign of John.
"Sherlock where's John?"
"I'm here."
He came through the door and looked at the screen.
"Oh God."
He looked at her head to toe and couldn't believe his eyes. Seeing Max's reaction to Sherlock he tried to get him to calm down and think about what Max was talking about, though he didn't agree to leaving her. Finally Sherlock threw up his hands and agreed.
"But I swear I will find you, and I will make him pay."
"You wouldn't be Sherlock if you didn't sweetie."
His face grew red and he smiled. He opened his mouth, but Max stopped him.
"Don't say it. When you have found me, and you're right here, then you can say it."
Sherlock smiled and nodded. Moriarty came into the room and the guards grabbed the chains, ready to pull.
"Say goodbye lover boy, its the last time you ever will."
Max saw Sherlock's jaw tighten, but he stood up straighter with John beside him.
"I'll see you soon."
Max nodded and stared directly at his eyes. She couldn't speak for she couldn't get much air in. The connection went black and Max let herself be dragged back to the room.
