Chapter 11
A/N Just really quickly. I'm sooo sorry that I haven't uploaded in ages, but my fanfiction doc manager wasn't allowing me to upload any more documents so now I'm going to upload more to hopefully make up for it. SORRY AGAIN!
It was as if ice water had been poured over me. I tried to look over to the voice, but Sirius was blocking my view.
"Poor, stupid little Sirius. Don't you ever learn?"
I could feel the anger radiating from Sirius as he finally sat up and revealed the person standing across the room.
Regulus.
Unfortunately he wasn't alone. Behind him were a group of Slytherins. One of the had a camera.
Regulus had a triumphant smirk on his face.
"I'm sure Potter Senior would love to see these photos." he simpered, a gleam in his eye.
At that moment Sirius leapt across the room, forgetting about magic and simply wishing to tear his younger brother limb from limb.
"Stupefy." One of the crowd behind Regulus said almost lazily.
"What are you getting from this Regulus?" Sirius said after working out he couldn't take on an entire group of Slytherins alone.
"Satisfaction. But don't worry Sirius, you can always just go after another girl and prove to everyone that you really are just a womanizer."
And with that, the cackling group of Slytherins left.
I quickly put my shirt on and ran over to Sirius. "Are you okay?" I asked, searching his eyes for emotion.
"My fucking family." He said, breathing heavily. He then grabbed his own shirt and pulled it quickly over his head. "James is going to murder me isn't he." Sirius said dejectedly. I slowly nodded my head, wishing with every fibre of my being that at some point, somehow, I could think of a way to make this better, to be with Sirius without the constant involvement of our brothers.
"We should go." Sirius finally said, after a few minutes had passed in silence.
I made to leave before being swept into his arms.
"Don't worry." He said, kissing the top of my head. "I'll make this better."
We stood embracing for what could have been hours until I saw my watch.
"Shit!" I said pulling away. "We really need to go!" And with that we started running towards our first class of the day. Transfiguration.
We got there just as the last people were walking in. I saw James and quickly hurried over to him.
"Listen, Kate. I've got something to tell you."
"Excuse me Mr. Potter. I'm sorry my class is disrupting your leisurely chat, but we do have a lesson to be getting on with." A strict-looking woman said. But for some reason she had an almost indulgent smile on her face
As the class went on it transpired that James was amazing at Transfiguration and the teacher was head of Gryffindor house. So that explains the indulgent smile. But it also transpired that I happened to be awful at Transfiguration, so that explains the extra homework I got.
The lesson passed surprisingly quickly, however when it was over, I noticed the absence of not only Sirius, but another person was missing.
"James, where's Remus?" I asked, looking around as if expecting to see him hiding behind a book somewhere.
"Oh, he's got a furry little problem." He said, looking down at his timetable. "Come on, we've got potions before break"
"What do you mean 'furry little problem'?" I shouted after him.
When we got to potions Mandy was still staring daggers at me. The short boy from yesterday was in a corner away from everyone. James spotted him almost as soon as we reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Ah, Snivellus, we didn't get a chance to greet each other properly yesterday." Once again he raised his wand.
"Stop!" A voice came from the stairs behind us. I looked over and saw Lily, the girl from my dorm that James fancied.
"Go on then Evans, go out with me." James said trying to sound nonchalant. Wow. I needed to teach my brother about how to woo women.
"I will never go out with a big-headed arse like you." Lily said just before Professor Slughorn opened the door.
James tried to look like it was no big deal and he didn't care what Lily said, but it was obvious that it had gotten to him. He kept running his hands through his hair and even said under his breath. "She's got no idea. What's her problem anyway?"
But as everyone else walked into the classroom, I turned and looked towards the boy who my brother constantly harassed. He was talking to Lily in an undertone with a disgusted look on his face. Although I wasn't the best at lip-reading, I was able to pick out the word Potter in there and to be honest, it didn't look as though he was saying the nicest things.
To be completely honest, I didn't blame him.
When potions was over, I started to walk to the Great Hall with James when a pair of hands pulled me back.
"You're sitting with us today." A voice said.
I turned and saw the three girls from my dorm behind me and smiling. Lily still looked a bit put out, but she still tried to smile as brightly as the others.
We walked to break together and sat down by Ted and his friends. For a moment I was caught up in all of the girly gossip that I had missed, until I looked across the hall and saw a pair of gleaming eyes that belonged to a satisfied Regulus Black. I turned to look up the table at what he was staring at and what I saw horrified me. Andromeda saw the look on my face and turned as well, but before she could say a word I was gone.
A/N Once again I'm REALLY SORRY for the long wait and I pinky promise, cross my heart that the next chapter will be up very, very soon.
