Hello! Back again with another chapter. As we near the end I find it harder to write, I want to wrap this story up perfectly, but I don't want to rush it. Thank you for your love and support. Your reviews never fail to bring a smile to my face. Keep it up! And cheer me on for this last leg of the race! Much love.

Kagome's appetite disappeared.

"What do you mean?"

Sesshomaru continued to stare at her.

"Your father," He spit the word at her mockingly, "has been responsible for your death 100 times over."

Kagome set her fork down. She didn't know what to say or what to think either.

"It's kind of amazing he let you live this long. I'm sure if you were a normal girl, you would be dead by now. Your powers must be very strong," Sango said as she set down her fork. Kagome met Sango's gaze unflinchingly.

"So you're telling me that the only father I have ever known has, essentially, killed me in every one of my reincarnations for the past-" Kagome trailed off.

"500 years."

"Huh, 500 years," Kagome laughed a little, the number in its self more than Kagome could fathom. The idea was preposterous, "How do you know it was him?"

We don't," Inuyasha said. "Not for all of them at least. But we know for a fact he is responsible for the last 100 years."

Kagome sat back into her seat. It was a lot to take in.

They sat in silence for a moment, all forks left abandoned on full plates. Kagome spoke.

"What time are we leaving tomorrow?"

"First thing in the morning." Sesshomaru answered.

Kagome picked up her fork and took a bite of the meat on her plate, "Good."

"Kagome?" Kagome's name was followed by a hesitant knock at the door. Kagome pushed herself off the bed and grabbed her already packed bag. She didn't sleep that night, but instead had spent it practicing how to find her power. She was exhausted, but now she could do it at will. She could feel it rushing through her veins and humming below the surface of her skin. She could tell that this was only the beginning. She already felt stronger. She had already changed clothes into another simple jeans and t-shirt combination with a pair of pristine new converses strapped to her feet. She tossed her book bag over her left shoulder, the right shoulder strap hanging down the middle of her back. She opened the door to a wide eyed Rin.

"Time to go?"

Rin shook her head, still looking at her wide eyed, "Breakfast first. Kagome," There was barely a pause as she moved on to her next thought, "you look different today."

Kagome cocked her head to the side, "Different how?"

Kagome wasn't sure she could take anymore changes to face. Rin studied her a bit before smiling.

"You look more, I don't know, powerful. Like the pictures of the other High Priestesses."

Kagome smiled a little.

"Let's go eat."

They joined the others at the table. Kagome sat at one end of the table, facing Sesshomaru. The others were already eating, and Kagome was beginning to understand why there was an ungodly amount of food on the table. Between Inuyasha and Miroku, the food was disappearing fast. Sango quietly ate a bagel, occasionally daring a hand across the table for a piece of bacon.

Though Kagome was exhausted, she wasn't hungry. So she sat there and watched as Rin happily munched on french toast. Sesshomaru sat speaking quietly with his right hand man whose name Kagome had yet to learn. She hoped he was staying behind. Sesshomaru looked at her out of the corner of his eye and she quickly looked away.

Inuyasha temporarily stopped shoveling food into his mouth to say, "Kagome, you need to eat something, we're going to be travelling all day. "

Kagome smiled at him tiredly. and grabbed a french toast stick from the dwindling pile in front of Rin. Kagome took a small bite and chewed slowly. It tasted amazing, substantial and sweet. The syrup was pure maple and Kagome felt a small smile growing. She swallowed before taking another bite. Her stomach lurched. Kagome stood up quickly from the table and quickly ran to the only bathroom she knew the location of. She knelt in front of the toilet at the back of the walk in closet. Her stomach clenched as she emptied its contents. She struggled to catch her breath as another wave hit her. She surged forward again, her stomach squeezing painfully as bile bit the back of her throat.

"Kagome?" Sango's voice called out to her.

"I'm okay," Kagome answered weakly. She stood up on unsteady legs and wobbled over to the sink. Sango came up behind her and rubbed her back as Kagome turned on the sink and rinsed out her mouth. Kagome spit into the sink before grabbing the bottle of mouthwash and pouring it directly into her mouth. Kagome wiped away the tears that had risen to the corner of her eyes and she swished it around briefly before spitting it out into the running water.

"Maybe we shouldn't leave today, if you're sick." Sango was fussing, pulling Kagome's hair back from her face.

Kagome smiled, "I'm fine Sango, I just don't think the food agreed with my stomach, probably because I wasn't hungry to begin with. It's no big deal."

Kagome let Sango lead her out of the bathroom. They rejoined the others at the table and Kagome waved away their questions and worried glances with a smile. She watched with a queasy stomach as the rest of them ate.

They left in pairs. Sesshomaru and Rin's flight left first, to make sure their new location was set up and secure. Miroku, Sango, Inuyasha, and Kagome walked around the boring airport laughing and talking. It felt like forever since they had been able to hang out like normal people their age.

"So do you know where we're going?" Kagome asked Sango, who was flipping disinterestedly through a magazine.

Sango put the magazine back on the rack excitedly and rooted around in the giant purse she let swing from the crook of her arm. She pulled an empty hand out of her purse with a mischievous smile.

"I'm not telling." Sango said, before turning away and quickly walking to the other side of the shop where the boys were standing.

"Sango!" Kagome called after her, a slight whine coloring her voice.

"Nope, not telling."

Kagome went up to Miroku, "Could you please tell me where we're going?"

Miroku pulled her into a hug.

"Inuyasha," Miroku said over her head, "Do you happen to know where we're going?"

Inuyasha smiled, "I thought it was the Alps."

Kagome struggled to free herself from Miroku's grip, but he held fast.

"No, I thought it was the islands," Miroku answered.

"I thought we were going to Ohio," Sango chimed in from the cash register where she was paying for two sodas.

Kagome broke free of Miroku's grip.

"You guys are so mean," Kagome said, punctuating her sentence with a laugh. Sango handed her a bottle of ginger ale.

"It's a surprise, Kagome. Don't worry about it too much."

Kagome opened the bottle gratefully.

"Fine, jerks."

Miroku looked at his phone.

"Inuyasha it's time for our flight." Miroku kissed Sango before heading out the store.

"See you on the other side!" Inuyasha yelled back, smiling at Kagome.

Sango and Kagome sat at a small cafe in the airport, Kagome couldn't drink anything, but sitting here helped calm her nerves.

"I've never flown before," Kagome admitted, her face turning red. Sango laughed.

"I figured. Don't worry. The flight won't be too long. And there's hardly anything to worry about. Everything will be fine."

Kagome nodded absently. She didn't know how much she believed Sango. The more she thought about it, it would be kind of ironic. All these people trying to kill her and she dies in a plane crash. Even if it wasn't ironic, it was funny in a dark and twisted sort of way.

Kagome was exhausted, the light vibration under her skin was getting tiring, she wished she could make it stop.

Sango eyed her closely, "Kagome you look really pale are you sure you're okay?"

Kagome nodded, "I'm fine, just tired. I didn't sleep at all last night."

Sango nodded in understanding.

"Okay, well just let me know if something changes."

"Okay Mom," Kagome said rolling her eyes. Kagome hopped down from the tall chair she was in.

"I'll be right back I'm going to the bathroom."

Sango nodded before taking a sip of her drink.

Kagome walked down the busy airport hallway, dodging rushing travelers. The line to the bathroom was long. Kagome could tell by the women congregating around the entrance. She sighed and kept walking, maybe if she was farther away from the terminals the bathroom would be emptier. She walked leisurely, her flight didn't leave for a little while longer, and she worried if she moved too quickly that she would jostle her upset stomach.

Kagome surveyed the stores she passed. Mostly newsstands with the same generic travelers merchandise. Pillows to support your neck, pillows with head phones built in, small blankets, and as always tons of magazines. She kept walking till she came across another restroom. There wasn't a line and as Kagome walked past stall after stall all were vacant except one. She found one she thought looked clean enough and after laying down a small forest worth of toilet paper on the seat, she sat down. The restroom smelled sterile and gross at the same time and Kagome held her breath as she rushed to finish. She flushed the toilet with her foot and quickly left the stall. The one occupied stall was now vacant.

Weird. I didn't hear anything.

Not a flush, or the rustle of clothes, or even the running of the sink. Kagome shrugged it off but she couldn't ignore the uneasy feeling growing in her. She walked briskly to the sink and began washing her hands. She saw something move out the corner of her eye and looked up just in time to see someone dart around the corner. But she hadn't seen anyone come in the door behind her. Kagome turned off the water and grabbed a paper towel, slowly inching around the wall that separated the stalls from the sinks. She turned the corner quickly but saw nothing. Kagome sighed.

Maybe I'm seeing things.

She dried her hands and turned toward the trash can. The hair on the back of her neck rose.

"You won't be safe in New York. You can't hide from him." The voice was right in her ear, and Kagome whipped around quickly coming face to face with a girl who she didn't know yet looked vaguely familiar. Her ears were pointed and her wavy hair was pulled into a short pony tail, but Kagome found herself staring into her eyes. They were a shade of red Kagome imagined you only found in hell.

"Who?" Kagome asked holding her ground.

The girl smirked, "Don't worry, it's almost time. See you soon, Kagome."

An unnatural breeze picked up and with that she was gone. Kagome was shaken. She left the bathroom quickly and looked for the girl in the crowd, but she couldn't see her. Kagome wanted to run back to Sango, but she restrained herself and walked, focusing on not stepping on cracks to keep her mind preoccupied.

I know I've seen that girl before. It was on the tip of her tongue. Kagome scrunched her face in thought. She saw the back of Sango's head as she approached the table. Kagome smoothed down her hair, before pulling the scrunchie off her wrist and piling her hair into a bun. Kagome paused just outside of Sango's eye line and took a deep breath. She ran her shaky sweaty palms over the surface of her jeans and tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ears before she joined Sango at the table. Sango didn't waste a moment before she began chattering on about how much Kagome would like the new apartment. Kagome wasn't listening. She nodded every once in awhile. Kagome could almost place the girl. She wished she had paid more attention. She looked at Sango's coffee cup.

The coffee shop! She remembered now. She only saw her for a second, before her appearance changed.

Kagome interrupted Sango.

"Sango, do you remember the girl we saw in the coffee shop, like, the first time we hung out?"

Sango looked at her blankly.

Kagome groaned, "When you asked me about being able to see. And I had no idea what you were talking about."

Sango's face lit up, "Oh yeah! What about her?"

Kagome thought for a moment as she looked at Sango. Her smile was so wide as she sipped her coffee.

"I just realized how evil her aura felt."

Sango laughed, "You're a little behind on that one."

Kagome laughed as unease grew in her stomach.

"Sango, are we going to New York?"

Sango set back, her arm slung casually over the back of the chair, "You are such a surprise ruiner. How did you know?"

Kagome scrambled for an answer, "I just-"

Kagome was cut off by the loud speaker.

"Flight 2035 to New York now boarding."

Sango stood quickly, past conversation forgotten.

"Come on, that's our flight!"

Kagome stood quickly scrambling to throw her book bag over her shoulder. She followed behind Sango slowly; dread growing with every step she took.

"See you soon, Kagome."

The girls words floated to her on a whisper. Kagome knew without a shadow of a doubt, not only was that a threat, it was a promise.
