NMNT Season 3 Chapter 8: Attack of the Amazons
-Oroku Saki's Headquarters, a press conference room-
In an early evening press conference, Oroku Saki, who was wearing a blue suit and a red tie, stood behind a podium as he addressed his guest of honor, the newspaper reporters and the television news reporters.
"Mr. Mayor and the members of the press," he began as he spoke into the built in microphone, "in recent weeks I have been called the 'Savior of the City'. But in all modesty, I am merely a man fortunate enough to possess the means to jump start the rebuilding of this city. My salvage and construction crews will lead the way in restoring New York into a shining palace."
The press clapped their hands in support and politeness.
A male news reporter then took a couple of steps towards Saiki and stopped as he asked, "Mr. Saki, do you have any comment on the allegations of your ties to an ancient criminal organization and your alleged connections to street gangs like the Purple Dragon?"
The crowd gasped and the mayor stepped up to the podium, grabbed the microphone and said, "Mr. Saki is not answering any questions at this time." And he led Saki away.
"Mr. Saki," the news reporter called out, "is it true that renegade scientist Baxter Stockman is still on your payroll?"
Just then, Karai (who is wearing a light grey trench coat) stealthily snuck up behind the nosy news reporter and struck him in the abdomen, making him keel over in pain while knocking him out at the same time. Concerned reporters in the crowd rushed to his aid before Karai gently but firmly pushed them aside.
"Could you please move back," she said, "it appears that this reporter has been overwhelmed by the excitement of the event."
-New York City Rooftops, Night-
It was a cloudless night as the five brothers leapt from rooftop to rooftop.
"Gentlemen," said Leonardo (who was, of course, leading the group), "the name of the game is Ninjutsu Stealth and Heightened Senses."
"Otherwise known as," Naruto started to say.
"Hide and," Raphael continued.
"Seek!" Michelangelo finished; and with that, four out of five brothers scattered to find hiding spots, leaving Donatello to find them all.
"So I guess this means I'm it," he said as he reached into his trusty duffel bag and pulled out night vision goggles. He gave a small smirk as he put them on and leapt away to find Naruto. After searching for a few minutes, he found him hiding in the wall shadow of an apartment building. He then tapped the blond human with his Bo Staff.
"*Humph*, cheater," Naruto said as he followed Don.
Don then found Mikey hiding in the shadow of an apartment's industrial air conditioner and heat generator.
He tapped him with his Bo Staff, which made the orange eye-mask wearing turtle look up and say in a disappointing tone, "Aww."
Next, he found Raph hiding in the shadow of an apartment building. As Don tapped him with his Bo Staff, Raph just said, "No way does this count!"
Finally, Don found Leo hiding underneath a water tower with its shadow hiding him completely.
As Don touched him with his Bo Staff, Leo looked at him and said (while coming out of his spot), "Aw come on. Don, you're missing the point of the exercise."
"What?" Don retorted, "My senses are heightened, with night vision goggles."
"What do you say we heighten your sense of pain?" Raph asked sarcastically as he prepared to punch Don in the shoulder.
Just then, Don's shell cell rang.
"Hang on, duty calls," he said as he answered the call, "Hello?"
The response on the other end of the line was the noise of a fax being sent to his phone. Don's face cringed as he hung up.
"Ah, another wrong number; somebody keeps trying to fax me something," he said.
"Yeah, yeah, now where were we?" Raph asked sarcastically as he once again prepared to punch Don in the shoulder.
Suddenly several Foot helicopters flew over their heads and towards Central Park.
"What the shell?" Mikey asked.
"Foot copters?" Naruto asked.
"Looks like something's going down in Central Park," said Leo. Don then took off his night vision goggles, and put them in his duffel bag as he took out a pair of binoculars.
As he looked into the distance he said, "It looks like they're picking something up, but I can't quite make out what it is." His answer came in the form of the helicopters carrying leftover Triceraton spaceship parts.
"How many of you want to bet that the Shredder is about to stir-up trouble?" Naruto asked.
"Only one way to find out," said Leo as he led his brothers towards Central Park.
-Central Park-
As the heroes arrived in the woods, they found an entire camp set up near some Triceraton space ship parts.
"Looks like some kind of...salvage operation," said Mikey.
"Look at all that alien tech," said Raph.
"All the more reason to wonder what the Shredder is up to," said Naruto.
"Something isn't right," said Leo.
"You're telling us," said Don, "But the question is what."
"That's not what I mean," said Leo as he looked up in the trees and all over, "I mean something isn't right"
Suddenly an entire squadron of Foot ninja leapt down from the trees, some of them carrying various small weapons.
"Foot ninjas," said Naruto.
"Good," said Raph as he took out his Sais, "I could use a good workout."
"With these guys, I doubt we're gonna break a sweat," said Mikey as he and the others (minus Naruto of course) took out their respective weapons.
The Foot ninja were then on the offensive as two wrapped chains around Don's Bo staff and yanked him forward while simultaneously punching him in the face which knocked him away.
Another pair of Foot ninja wrapped Naruto up in chains, but he was quickly freed by Leo.
At the same time, a Foot ninja threw a spear on a chain straight at Mikey who managed to dodge it.
"Missed me," Mikey said as he saw the spear embedded in a tree behind him. The Foot ninja then yanked hard on the chain, which ripped a heavy branch from the tree which knocked Mikey down.
Naruto then went toe to toe on a group of three Foot ninja. He managed to hold his ground (as he leg swept and roundhouse kicked them towards the trees) when all of a sudden a fourth appeared in front of him and quickly began to throw shuriken to which the blond ninja barely managed to dodge.
"Is it just me, or are we working up a sweat?" Naruto asked as he punched the shuriken throwing Foot ninja.
"No sweat here," said Raph as he went up against a Foot ninja wielding a Katana.
Just then he was blindsided by a weight on a chain (thrown by a Foot ninja) as it wrapped him into a tree trunk.
"Oh, this can't be good," he muttered as he saw the Katana wielding Foot ninja leap into the air and prepare to cut him down to size.
Just then Naruto leapt in the air and (while both were in mid-air) kicked the Foot ninja away while Leo freed Raph.
"Uh guys," Mikey started to ask as his Nun-chucks were taken away only to be returned to him (courtesy of Don), "Is it me, or are these guys stronger?"
"They're not just stronger," said Don as he and the others joined Mikey while the Foot ninja surrounded them all and started to close in, "they're better trained too. In fact, they're fighting style seems to be awfully familiar."
However, before the fight could continue, both parties scattered when they heard police choppers flying in to search the area. The brothers then took refuge underneath a small bridge.
"Since when in the hell did police choppers patrol Foot operations?" Mikey asked.
"I can make a pretty good guess," said Naruto, "it seems like with all this tech lying around, the Shredder probably made a deal to be the sole collector of it all."
"To me it seems like the more money you show-off the more friends you can buy," said Raph. Everyone wordlessly agreed as Leo found a sewer grate that would hide them in the sewers.
-Oroku Saki's Headquarters, Saki's Main Office-
The mayor and Saki stepped through a pair of wooden double-doors. Saki then headed towards his privacy curtain and proceeded to change into more formal attire.
"So," said the mayor nervously, "that reporter's accusations and allegations, is it anything I should know about?"
"Pure tabloid fantasy Mr. Mayor," Saki reassuringly answered as he stepped out in his white Japanese robe.
"Because the last thing I need in an election year is a guaranteed bite-your-ass scandal," said the mayor.
Just then, Hun burst through the doors.
"Master, I bring an urgent message!" he exclaimed.
"I thought I gave explicit instructions that the mayor and I are NOT to be disturbed," Saki said in a warning tone.
Hun, who now feared repercussion, quickly bowed and left the office.
"You must forgive the rudeness of my...bodyguard," Saki reassuringly explained to the mayor.
But already the mayor was suspicious. "Was he wearing a Purple Dragons tattoo?" he asked.
"The dragon is a symbol of great honor in Japan, the land of my ancestors," Saki quickly explained as he turned the mayor's attention towards blue-prints laid out on his desk.
"Now then," he said as he picked one up, "I have been reviewing your plans for refurbishing Times Square. I'm afraid forty-seven million dollars is...out of the question."
The mayor looked slightly disappointed as he said, "Oh."
"You will require one hundred and forty-seven million dollars to complete the project," Saki said with a smile, "I have already wired the funds into the city's account."
The mayor was pleasantly surprised. "Ha ha ha, well I'm sure you know best," he said.
"Always," Saki replied.
-The Sewers-
"Whatever Shredder's up to with that alien tech, it can't be any good," said Leo as the group walked aimlessly throughout the sewers, "but how do we stop him?"
Don smirked as he answered, "The old wooden clog in the machine: sabotage."
"You mean," Mikey said excitedly, "break stuff?"
"Now you're talkin' words I can understand," said Raph.
"Let's go then," said Naruto as he took the lead, "I think those Foot copters were headed towards the water front!"
-Oroku Saki's Headquarters, Saki's Main Office-
After the mayor had left, Oroku Saki then decided to store his plans for rebuilding the city inside his desk. He then walked over towards an enormous bust of his head that stood upon an equally enormous Ancient Greek style stone column.
"Open," he commanded and the entire work of art opened up to reveal a hidden elevator. He stepped inside and the elevator took him down.
-The Underground Lair beneath Oroku Saki's Headquarters-
Saki then stepped out into the Main Chamber of the lair where the minions were pushing, pulling and carting various objects all over the lair. To his right, he found Karai (who was back in her battle outfit), Hun and Baxter Stockman waiting for him.
"Report," he said.
"Master," said Hun as he approached Saki, "please forgive my earlier interruption; but I thought you'd want to know we encountered the five mutant brothers near the Central Park salvage operation."
Suddenly Saki angrily grabbed Hun by his left wrist and began crushing it. Hun groaned in pain as he fell to his knees.
"You are not to be seen or heard while I conduct my legitimate business, is that clear?" Saki growled.
"Yes master," Hun grunted.
Saki then let go of Hun and said, "Now as for the mutant freaks, they must not be allowed to interfere with my plans."
Just then a 21 year-old red-headed male scientist (who wore glasses, a green dress shirt, a purple tie and a white lab coat) hurriedly approached the group.
"Actually, I might have a little project that may come in handy," he said with a small smile of confidence. Saki just looked at him with a neutral expression.
Stockman then grabbed him by the shoulder with his thin robot arm and said sternly, "Never interrupt Mr. Saki Dr. Chaplin." He then turned his holographic head toward Saki and said, "You'll have to excuse the new guy, he's a little over-enthusiastic. He just needs to learn his place."
"Let me see this project of yours Dr. Chaplin," said Saki.
The red-headed male scientist, now known as Dr. Chaplin, smiled enthusiastically as he led the group towards large automated metal doors that opened up to a smaller chamber where three Foot ninjas in gyroscopes that were inside individual giant spheres were spinning in every direction imaginable. The Foot ninjas were being monitored in a nearby control panel by three minions.
"Now when I say my project," Dr. Chaplin began explaining, "it's really based on the ground-breaking work of Dr. Stockman. I mean, he's a goddamn giant in his field. It's hard to believe I get to lead a tech team with my idol."
Stockman turned his holographic head towards Saki and said, "Lead? But I'M the tech division leader."
Saki just held up a hand in front of Stockman to silence him.
Dr. Chaplin then took out a small remote, pressed a button and said, "Here they are."
Just then the floor opened up in front of the group and there, standing on a rising platform, were three Amazonian robots. Each was a different color (black, gold and blue), wielded a different weapon and bore a striking resemblance to Karai.
"I call them the Amazonian Blade Bots," said Dr. Chaplin.
Karai was not amused. "Do I detect a resemblance?" she asked sarcastically.
"You don't mind do you, I mean you're just so...sexy," Dr. Chaplin said as he tried (and failed) to flatter Karai, who just scowled in disapproval.
"So anyway," Dr. Chaplin continued, "these robots are the latest in remote-guided mech technology, completely controlled by our operatives in these geosphere substations."
"Yes well, the video game generation do enjoy their little playthings," Stockman said as he tried to dissuade Saki. However, Saki was slowly buying the idea.
"I would like to see a demonstration," he said.
"Why not let Karai test their metal?" Hun suggested with an evil sneer.
"Excellent suggestion Hun," said Saki, "Karai, if you would be so kind."
"As you wish," she replied as she stepped up to fight the robots. The blue robot took out a pair of Katanas while the gold robot took out a Naginata and the black robot took out a sickle attached to a heavy chain.
Karai took out her lone Katana and leapt towards the blue robot as her bout commenced. The blue robot proceeded to kick her towards the wall, Karai slamming her back on it in the process. The blue robot then leapt in the air and prepared to cut Karai down to size, or at least it would have if Karai didn't leap out of the way. She then kicked the robot in the back of its leg.
The black robot then threw its chain and wrapped it around her body. It then yanked the chain off her body, which made her spin like a top before falling down. The blue robot then got up and prepared to kill her once more.
However, the small match ended as Saki commanded, "Hold!" The blue robot stopped in mid-attack and put away its weapons.
"So...what do you think Mr. Saki?" Dr. Chaplin asked.
"You did hear him say this was all based on my work," Stockman added.
"If your robots prove themselves by killing the brothers Dr. Chaplin, then perhaps we can retire your mentor, Dr. Stockman, once and for all," said Saki.
Hun grinned evilly in triumph. "Looks like someone is going to be killed tonight," he said as an aside to Stockman who ground his holographic teeth in anger.
"I have other matters to attend to," said Saki as he turned his attention to Karai, "Karai, proceed with the...other operation we discussed."
Karai bowed her head and proceeded to go top-side.
"Wait," Hun objected as Saki walked away, "other operation? Is this something I should know master?"
Saki gave no reply, which made Hun nervous. Stockman smugly glided over towards the hulking bodyguard and said, "Looks like I'm not the only one facing the possibility of death."
-Hudson Bay-
At the entrance to the Hudson River laid an abandoned Triceraton Mothership. A little ways away, Leo, Mikey, Don and Raph stuck their heads up from beneath the water while Naruto dropped his Earth-style Camouflage jutsu as he stood beside his brothers.
"Surprise, surprise, the Foot are already here," said Leo.
"Let's see if we can slow down their salvage operation, permanently," said Naruto. The turtles dived down once again and Naruto, seeing as he had no choice this time, took a deep breath and joined his brothers.
-Inside the Triceraton Mothership-
The five brothers managed to emerge from an underwater access entrance (presumably created when the ship crashed down into the water) and saw they were near a hallway that would lead them inside.
"This looks like an elevator shaft," Don said as the five brothers walked inside.
"This is just too damn weird, everything looks like it's been turned around," said Raph. Mikey then saw that one of the doors in the shaft was closed.
"I wonder what's behind door number one?" he wondered as he found a piece of pipe that would help him in opening the doors. Once he did open them, he and everyone else gasped. There in front of them were hundreds of explosive barrels.
"Check out the armory," said Raph.
"We could have one hell of a Fourth of July with these fireworks," said Mikey.
"Know what I think," said Naruto, "I think we found a way to tear Shredder a new one." Everyone wordlessly agreed as they continued to walk down the elevator shaft. They eventually came upon the temporary main chamber that the Foot had built as a hub to gather any and all remaining salvageable technology.
"My god," said Don, who was mesmerized by the fairly impressive inner structures.
"They're industrious little bastards, I'll give em' that," said Raph.
Don then noticed that most of the minions were digging out a particularly large green diamond-shaped power core.
"So that's what they're after: the power core," he said.
"It doesn't look so dangerous to me," said Mikey.
"Are you kidding, there's enough juice in there to blow-up the entire city. Maybe Jersey too," said Don.
The minions then wrapped the power core in some cables before hooking those cables on to a crane. The crane then lifted the power core out slowly and carefully.
"We can take em' easy," said Raph, "they're not ninjas, they're just flunkies."
As he dropped down to fight them, Naruto called out after him. "Raph wait!" he shouted, "I don't think they're..."
But of course, Raph refused to listen as he landed smack dab in the middle of the chamber. He immediately was wrapped up in chains before the minions that threw them spun him around like a top before kicking him to the ground.
His brothers then leapt down to join him, but they too were all effortlessly kicked to the ground.
"Ugh, they sure as hell don't fight like flunkies," said Mikey as he got up and rubbed his head.
"No," said Leo as he got up, pulled out his Katanas and fought a minion wielding a Katana, "They fight like Karai."
"Seems like she always has difficulty picking a side," said Naruto as he uppercut two minions before back-fisting a third.
"Lucky us," said Don as he fought a minion who managed to split his Bo Staff in two. "Aww damn," he muttered whilst he looked at the damage, the minion taking the opportunity to kick him to a wall.
Naruto then leapt up to the power core, took out a kunai knife and sliced through the cable holding it to the crane. As he freed it, it fell back into its place of resting with an enormous thud.
"Naruto," Don complained in a warning tone as he joined his brother, "careful with that thing, unless you want to vaporize everything within a hundred-mile radius!"
"Well, we need to keep it away from the Shredder," Naruto replied, "so how do we do that?"
"By making it inoperable," Don replied as he lifted a panel off the power core, "but we'll need something to short out its circuitry, something like..." And he rack his brain for a solution before having a 'eureka' moment. "Salt water, a lot of salt water."
-Ten minutes later-
With most of the minions knocked out (Yeah I know it's a total cop out, but that's the way things happen) Don gathered the group around and began to explain his plan.
"Listen up," he said, "A few well-placed explosive charges in the asteroid underbelly should open up the flood gates and short out the power core." He then drew a diagram of the asteroid underbelly and turned his attention to Naruto. "Naruto, I need you to create a small army to pick up, drop off and arm the explosives at these locations." He then drew X's in the diagram to show where the explosives needed to go as he explained, "Leo, Mikey, Raph and I will stay here in case there are any stragglers left."
-Ten more minutes later-
(Don't you dare complain) "Alright Naruto," Don said as Naruto armed the last explosive near the entrance towards the power core chamber, "Give your clones the signal to set off the bombs and dispel themselves."
Naruto nodded in acknowledgement as he turned to his clone who gave a salute and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"Alright Don," said Naruto, "The bombs are set for one trigon."
"Good, by my calculations that should be about ten minutes," said Don.
"That's plenty of time to get us out," said Leo. Suddenly the group heard robotic footsteps coming from behind their backs.
"Or for somethin' else to get in," Raph remarked.
As the group looked to see who the intruders were, there, from out of the shadows, they laid eyes on the Amazonian Blade Bots.
"Well," said Don, "this is something you don't see every day."
"They all look like Karai," said Naruto, "which means that, more than likely, they can fight like her."
"As if our day couldn't get any worse," Mikey said as the two opposing parties took out their weapons. The robots then made the first move as they collectively attacked the five brothers. The brothers then split up, with Naruto and Don focusing on the gold robot, Raph and Mikey focusing on the black robot and Leo focusing on the blue robot.
As Don and Naruto squared off against their opponent, the gold robot did two sweeps, one with its right leg and the other with its Naginata. This forced the two brothers to leap off of particularly spiky stalagmites that grew on the walls of the asteroid in order to dodge both attacks.
Meanwhile, Raph and Mikey did not start off on the wrong foot, for when the black robot threw its chain, the two brothers jut grabbed it and pulled the robot in. However, the robot quickly changed tactics and kicked the brothers into the wall.
Meanwhile, Leo was having some pretty close calls as the blue robot attacked in all directions, forcing him to be on the deafens ice as he leapt off wall after wall.
"Ugh, we really don't have time for this!" Raph groaned as he and Mikey picked themselves up.
Naruto then looked around and saw that the bombs were nearing to explode.
"Guys," he called out, "forget about these things, we got to get out of here."
"Right!" the others called out as they made a beeline towards the power core chamber.
As the robots pursued the heroes, the bombs near the entrance went off sending a torrent of salt water inside the asteroid. The blue and black robots were caught unaware but the gold robot just barely managed to avoid the explosion. However, both parties were then caught up in the rushing water.
-Oroku Saki's Underground Lair, Geosphere Chamber-
Dr. Chaplin was in distraught as he saw his precious robots being caught in the current of flowing salt water.
"No, no, no!" he cried, "Get my Amazonian Blade Bots out of the water, NOW!" The Foot ninja in the spheres complied as they tried to get the robots out of their sticky situation.
Baxter Stockman chuckled in a smug tone.
Dr. Chaplin then saw the black, blue and gold robots climb out using the asteroid cave walls, scaling them like a cliff face.
"Yes!" he cheered, "my Blade Bots are unstoppable!"
Stockman's eyes widened slightly in nervousness. "What if this young upstart smart-ass manages to kill those freaks?" he whispered to himself, "I'll be lying dead in a ditch for sure." He then had a look of stern determination. "I'll have to change my situation, no matter what."
-The Triceraton Mothership, The Power Core Chamber-
The brothers surfaced in the chamber that was now rapidly filling up with water.
"Are you guys alright?" Leo asked.
"Nothing like a refreshing swim," said Naruto.
"I'm fine," said Raph.
"Peachy," said Don.
"I'd feel a whole lot better if we get the hell out this sinking rock," said Mikey.
"Then there's no time to lose," said Naruto as he and the others climbed a structure that would take them back to the elevator shaft. They made it to their destination just as the salt water touched the power core.
*BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM* went the power core as a torrent of water splashed up before splashing down.
"*Phew* That was close," said Mikey. Just then, the three robots leapt from the shadows.
"You just had to jinx it," said Raph.
At that moment, Naruto showed frustration to the brothers' current situation as he gave a small shout and powered up.
"That's it," he said, "We're getting out of here whether the Shredder likes it or not." And he extended his right arm and opened his palm to form his signature giant ball of rapidly rotating chakra.
"Take this: Giant Rasengan!" he shouted as he rapidly obliterated all three robots in one blow (the side effect being a giant cloud of smoke). As the smoke cleared, all that remained of the robots was the gold robot's Naginata. Naruto picked it up and gave it to Don.
"Until you get a proper replacement," Naruto commented as Don took it from his hands.
"Alright," Mikey cheered happily, "one fried power core with a side order of bot fries!"
"Nice going Naruto," said Leo, "now let's get going."
-Oroku Saki's Underground Lair, Geosphere Chamber-
Dr. Chaplin looked in horror as he saw nothing but static on the viewing monitors.
"No, NOOOOOOOOOO!" he cried, "This is impossible!"
Stockman chuckled evilly. "Well, well, well," he muttered with a smile, "looks like the whiskered brat did my work for me."
-The Triceraton Mothership, the Elevator shaft-
As the brothers neared the room full of explosives, Don said, "Naruto, if you would be so kind as to finish the rest of the plan."
"You'd better believe it," Naruto answered as he wordlessly formed another Giant Rasengan and made a hole in the ceiling, allowing for an easy escape.
"Ladies and gentlemen next stop," he said as he pulled out a kunai knife with an explosive tag attached to it, "the destruction of this base." He then threw it into the room as everyone evacuated the asteroid.
-Hudson Bay-
Not even five seconds passed as the brothers dove into the water before multiple explosions proceeded to rip apart the Mothership. When they were a good enough distance away, the five brothers surfaced to admire their handiwork.
Just then they heard a speed boat coming from behind.
"Now what?" Leo asked as the black boat rapidly approached the brothers.
The boat then stopped just twenty feet before them as the driver revealed herself to be Karai.
Just then, Karai received a radio call from Oroku Saki via her microphone headset.
"Karai, what is the status of our enemies?" he asked (only Karai can hear him), "Have they been captured or are they dead?"
For a few tense moments, the female warrior just stared at the heroes with a neutral expression on her face. Finally (after what seemed to be an eternity) she replied, "No my lord, they all got away."
She then sped back towards New York City.
"What, she couldn't give us a lift?" Mikey asked in annoyance.
Naruto and Raph hit him on the head and said at the same time, "Shut up and swim." And the brothers headed home, with another mission accomplished.
-Oroku Saki's Underground Lair, Geosphere Chamber-
In the chamber, Dr. Chaplin hastily tried to explain his failure to Oroku Saki while Hun and Stockman stood in the background with evil smirks.
"I don't understand what happened," said Dr. Chaplin, "my robots were supposed to be impervious to anything."
"A rookie mistake to be sure," said Stockman smugly, "one I can easily correct."
Oroku Saki just looked between the two scientists before noticing Karai arriving in the hidden elevator with a fairly large cube-shaped container. As he walked over to her Stockman, Hun, and Dr. Chaplin followed.
"Please don't blame the boy," Stockman continued in a mock-reassuring tone, "it's my fault. I've should've checked his robots more thoroughly."
"See that you do, in the future," Saki replied as he stepped in the elevator (the others stopped in their tracks), "this entire project would have been a complete had I not heeded Karai's advice. The power core retrieval was a decoy to keep those damn freaks busy while she this, my true objective."
And he pointed to the cube-shaped container as he explained his intentions.
"Umm, I would be happy to examine whatever alien technology you were able to-." Stockman started to say before Hun pushed him aside.
"I can assist you in any way master," he said, "I-."
"Enough," Saki interrupted with a stern look on his face, "Karai and I need to discuss how best to rid this organization of dead weight."
And the elevator doors closed shut, leaving Saki and Karai alone.
"Master, if I may," she started to say, "this ongoing project of obtaining alien technology: costs are...skyrocketing."
Saki just smiled a knowing smile as he replied, "I appreciate your concern Karai, but money will be meaningless where I am going." And he chuckled darkly.
-Much Later, the geosphere chamber-
Some time had passed as Dr. Chaplin worked at a computer console. Just then the doors opened and Karai stepped inside.
"Oh it's you Karai," he said as he turned to face her with a nervous look, "what are you doing here?"
"I came to deliver a message," she replied, "my master has decided to give you another chance; do not squander it."
"Oh thank god-I mean, thanks," Dr. Chaplin said (with relief now present on his face). Karai just gave a polite bow and proceeded to leave.
"Wait, Karai," he called out, "if you're not too busy Friday night, would you be interested in going out with-."
"No," Karai replied as she continued to walk away.
Dr. Chaplin persisted still. "You say that now but you just wait and see," he said with a smile, "before you know it, you'll be falling for-."
"No, stop," Karai said as she stopped walking and faced the scientist, "no matter how much you try, your feeble attempts to win my heart will not succeed. They will only make me think unpleasant thoughts of you. Besides...someone has already won my heart and he continues to do so every time I see him. While he may fight in an unusual manner using sports equipment as weapons, he has proven himself time and time again. So I suggest you stop your attempts at flattery because he has said, and I quote, 'I'll kick the ass out of whoever tries to take you away from me, that's a promise.' "
And she turned around and walked away, leaving Dr. Chaplin with a rain cloud over his head.
God what a way to kick off the new year huh? Well now I have two projects to deal with, but this is my main priority (besides real life of course). I hope all you readers had such wonderful holidays during these winter months.
And yes, for those of you who didn't put two and two together in Chapter 5, Casey and Karai are a couple. Sure they'll have a rocky start but in the end of this series they will be a couple. Nothing against Dr. Chaplin, but the guy disappears by the end of Season 5. Personally, I think Casey and Karai have a lot of potential.
