Sylvester's School For Girls

Chapter Eight

It felt nice for Santana to get some alone time for once, being stuck in an all girls school wasn't as fun as she originally thought it would be. Don't get her wrong she likes the girls in her dorms and she now sees them as her friends but after spending nearly all of her time with them, it was just nice to get a way for a while.

Things have still been a little awkward with Rachel since their almost kiss. The other girl seemed to be running hot and cold with Santana. It seemed like Rachel has be doing her best to avoid her and if they were together, apart from their conversation about stealing Mercedes snack stash, their back and forth jokey conversations have stopped completely.

Since she shared a room with Rachel it was hard for them to not be around each other, but Rachel always seemed to go to bed early and rise even earlier so when Santana went to bed Rachel would already be asleep and when she woke in the morning Rachel was already out of the dorm and as far away from Santana as possible.

Santana knew it was her fault, she was a little forward that night and even though she liked Rachel she knew the other girl didn't feel the same. That was obvious by the awkwardness between them since that night. Santana just wished that Rachel would give her a couple of minutes just so she can explain herself and to tell her that she wouldn't try anything again.

She still wanted Rachel as a friend and she was pretty pissed with herself that she might have ruined one of the only genuine friendships that she had made since joining the school.

That's why she wanted some alone time and that's why she decided to get up early and to have a quite walk around the town. She has been walking for at least half an hour now and found herself in a quite part of the town. She notes a little coffee shop on the corner and thinks this is the perfect place for some down time.

As she continues down the road towards the coffee shop she hears someone call from behind her.

"Hey sexy, why don't you come over here and give me a kiss?"

Santana knew he was talking to her, there wasn't anybody else around. She hated men like that who thought they had a right to say whatever the hell they wanted. She turns round to give him a piece of her mind but then she notices the boy standing there with that goofy grin on his face.

"Puck? What the hell are you doing here?"

"I came to visit my best friend. So how about that kiss?"

"In your dreams."

"Every night baby" Puck laughs.

Santana laughs too and wraps her arms around him in a hug. She can't help herself; she had missed her idiot of a friend.

"So how did you get here?" Santana asks pulling away from the embrace.

"I drove. I searched the school on the internet and got the address. I haven't seen you for a couple of months so I thought I'd come and visit you" Puck explains.

"I'm glad you're here. My mind is completely fucked and I need my best friend."

"I saw a bar down the street we could drink away your problems there."

"Puck it's eleven thirty in the morning."

"Okay then we'll go and get some breakfast load up on the carbs and then we can go and drink. It'll be like old times before you got stuck up and attended a private all girl's school."

"I'm not stuck up, beneath the uniform lies the same Santana Lopez there always was."

"You have a uniform? Can I see it?" Puck asks.

"No."

"Okay, so where can we get breakfast?"

"There's a diner around the corner, I think it's called Pete's or something."

"So what have I been missing in Lima?" Santana asks, as she leads Puck down the street to the diner.

"The mayor had been caught sleeping with a prostitute; apparently he's a good customer of Trixie or something like that."

"That's why she's always bailed" Santana says to herself, remembering the hooker she shared a jail cell with.

"I've also seen your parents a few times. I think your dad still hates me."

"Don't be stupid Puck; of course he still hates you" Santana jokes.

"Although he hated you less after I came out. I think that was because then he knew that nothing would ever happen between us and you couldn't get me pregnant."

"He only doesn't like me because he thinks I'm a bad influence" Puck says.

"You are a bad influence" Santana retorts.

"Yeah but you're willingly involved in anything I suggest."

"I know that's because we're just as bad as each other."

"That's why you're my best friend. Okay so I'm going to order the biggest stack of waffles they have" Puck says as they enter the diner.

They stay in the diner for a while just to pass the time, it felt nice to have Puck around. It was like she was back in her old life again, where she would just hang out with Puck and have fun without a care in the world. It's a good way for her too escape reality, even if it's just for one day.

At around two in the afternoon Puck declares that it was alcohol o'clock so they headed over to the bar. It was lucky that Santana had her back up fake I.D with her. She always kept a spare one just in case and had managed to secretly keep it from Ms. Sylvester especially after Sue had taken away her other one on the first day she arrived.

It's the same I.D she has been using when she had visited the bar on her own on the odd occasion, so she knew that it would work.

Santana isn't sure how long they had been in the bar and she also isn't sure about the total number of drinks she had consumed, one thing she does know is that she's passed her limit. It takes them nearly three times as long to make it back to the school. The alcohol might be clouding her brain, but they're both well versed in being sneaky drunks.

There had been so many times were Santana had managed to sneak back into her house without her parents ever knowing, after a night of drinking with Puck. However, when they reached the door of the bedroom she shared with Rachel she didn't open it with much grace.

"Shhh Puck we need to be quiet" Santana says trying to whisper.

"Santana is that you?" Rachel asks turning on her bedside light.

What Rachel wasn't expecting to see was Santana standing there with a boy sporting a Mohawk.

"Santana you brought a boy here!"

"It's not a boy, it's Puck" Santana says as if it's obvious.

"Noah Puckerman at your service" Puck winks, holding out his hand.

"You're Santana's friend from Lima" Rachel says, pulling up the covers on her bed to keep herself covered up.

"And you're the hot roommate."

"Yes I am. The roommate I mean" Rachel says trying to hide her blush.

"You are hot too."

"Yes well thank you Santana, but can we get onto the more pressing matter of the fact you've brought a boy into an all girl's school."

"He came to visit me. He has nowhere to sleep" Santana explains.

"He can't stay here. Sue would go crazy if she knew he was here."

"He'll be gone tomorrow. I promise."

"Fine but you owe me Santana. So where is he going to sleep?" Rachel asks.

"I don't mind sharing a bed with either of you ladies" Puck smirks.

"No way in hell are you getting into any of our beds. You can sleep on the couch in the common room."

"He can't do that just in case someone sees him. Santana you can sleep on the couch" Rachel suggests as she gets out of her bed to pull on her robe.

"That would mean leaving Puck in here with you. I don't want to leave him in here with you on your own."

"Then what's your solution?" Rachel asks, staring to get irritated at the situation Santana as put her in.

"He can sleep in my bed and I can share with you. I'm super comfy remember" Santana says with a smirk as she runs a hand down Rachel's arm. It only lasts a few seconds before Rachel pulls away.

"You know what? I'll sleep on the couch. Noah you can take Santana's bed and Santana you can take mine. Just know I'm not happy about this and I will be talking to you both when you're sober."

"Thanks for not telling on me" Santana says as she wraps her arms tightly around Rachel.

The hug lasts a lot longer than Rachel expects and even though she's enjoying it, it's starting to get a little uncomfortable.

"Santana."

"Mhh" Santana mumbles into Rachel's neck.

"I would really like to go to sleep now and I can't do that with you clinging to me."

"Yes you could. You're really comfortable."

"I thought you were supposed to be the comfortable one" Rachel teases.

"I am" Santana mumbles as she finally pulls back from Rachel.

"I'm sorry. You should get to bed" Santana says before quickly and sloppily kissing Rachel's cheek.

"Good night Santana."

When Santana wakes up the next morning she automatically lets out a groan. Her head hurts, it really fucking hurts. She buries her head deeper into the pillow, her nose picking up an intoxicating scent. It's familiar and soothing at the same time.

She slowly opens her eyes and sees Puck sleeping in the bed across from her, that's when she realizes that she's in Rachel's bed and that it's Rachel's scent she's inhaling. Rachel's fruity shampoo to be more specific.

Santana doesn't remember much from the night before. She remembers going to the bar with Puck and ordering shots, but everything after that is a blur.

She swings her legs out of Rachel's bed and puts her feet as firmly on the ground as possible. She looks towards Rachel's bedside table to see what time it is but the alarm clock is obstructed by a bottle of water and a small packet of Tylenol.

Santana knows they must be from Rachel and she swallows two of the pills without any hesitation. She gets the rest of the way out of the bed and heads towards the door.

As she opens the door into the common room she can hear the sounds of the other girls.

"Good morning. You look like crap" Quinn greets.

"Thanks, I feel like it."

"You hit the bar last night?"

"From what I can remember. Have you seen Rachel?"

"I haven't seen her this morning so she must have been up early."

"Damn my head hurts" a voice says from behind Santana.

"Well good morning to you" Quinn says with a raised eyebrow.

Santana turns around to find Puck standing there in just his boxer shorts.

"This isn't what it looks like" Santana says.

"It looks like you spent the night with a guy in your room" Quinn says.

"Okay so that part is true, but we didn't do anything."

"Wait you think we...but Santana's..."

"Puck!" Santana yells.

"Oh sorry. How was I supposed to know they didn't know?"

"Know what?" Quinn asks.

"That Santana's a lesbian" Brittany answers on Santana's behalf.

"I told you I'm very perceptive" Brittany says when Santana gives her a questioning look.

"So you're gay?" Quinn asks.

"Yes" Santana replies, she isn't ashamed of her sexuality, but still she isn't sure how Quinn will react.

"So since we know that you're not with Santana are you single Puck?" Quinn asks, brushing over Santana's sexuality as if she doesn't care, much to Santana's relief.

"Young, single and ready to mingle baby" Puck replies with a cocky look on his face.

"Puck. Quinn. No. This is not happening and for the love of god Puck please put some clothes on."

"I think your friends are enjoying the view" Puck says flexing his muscles.

"I'd bet they'd enjoy a few stories just as much, remember that summer when we were fifteen."

"You wouldn't."

"Wouldn't I?" Santana threatens with a raised eyebrow.

"Okay, okay I'm going" Puck says, quickly retreating back into Santana's room.

"So how do you know that guy?" Brittany asks.

"Puck is my friend from Lima. He came to visit me, but we got really drunk and woke Rachel up last night. She ended up sleeping out here on the couch. That's why I need to find her, so I can apologize."

"So you woke Berry up whilst you were sneaking a boy in here drunk and then you made her sleep on the couch? I would not want to apologize to her after doing that" Quinn jokes.

"What else happened with you and Rachel last night?" Brittany asks.

"Nothing, well I can't remember anything why?"

"Just wondering" Brittany says with a knowing smile.

Once again Brittany leaves Santana completely perplexed. She wants to try and figure out what Brittany means but the door of the dorm opens and in walks Rachel.

"Good morning everyone, well what's left of the morning since it's nearly midday" Rachel greets.

"Can I talk to you? Alone?" Santana asks.

"Of course you can Santana. I want to talk to you as well."

Santana walks over to her and Rachel's door and knocks on it loudly.

"Are you finished Puck?" she calls.

"Jeez San, do you have to be so loud? My head is still sensitive" Puck says as he opens the door, holding a hand up to his head.

"Oh, hey Rachel."

"Good morning Noah."

"I'm sorry for last night. I missed my best friend so I just wanted to come here and have some fun. I'm sorry we got you involved" Puck says.

"Apology accepted Noah, as long as it never happens again."

"It won't."

"Okay Puck I need to talk to Rachel so you need to stay in this room. I mean it, don't leave until I get back" Santana explains before following Rachel into their bedroom and shutting the door behind her.

"Well it was nice to meet the real Santana last night" Rachel says coldly.

"What the hell does that mean?"

"You admitted yourself that you were sent to this school because of your behavior. I'm assuming the behavior you were referring to was including that of last night. What you did was irresponsible, you risked expulsion and not to mention you put me in an awkward position. You are extremely lucky that Sue hasn't found out."

"Jesus I just wanted to apologize not get a fucking lecture."

"Well you need one and I haven't even heard you attempt to apologize yet" Rachel says, her voice rising slightly.

"That's because I can't get a fucking word in."

"There is no need to be vulgar. I knew it; I just knew you'd be bad news."

"Oh yeah and I'm sure you're the picture of perfection aren't you? Head girl and a straight A student, I bet you've never done anything wrong in your life and I'm sure your daddies are really proud of you. Well congratulations for being the world's most boring human being" Santana yells.

"That's it. If you're not going to apologize then I'm leaving and don't worry, I'm not that heartless to tell Sue about your little sleepover, but you better get Noah out of here before she does find out."

Santana doesn't even have time to think of a retort, Rachel just turns around and storms out of the door. A few moments later Puck enters the room.

"So how did the apologizing go?"

"Not now" Santana snaps.

"It sounded like you were having quite the lover's quarrel."

"Seriously Puck. Not now."

"You okay?" Puck genuinely asks.

"I wanted to apologize to her, but she just knew how to push my buttons and you know me, sometimes words come out of my mouth before I've even realized it."

"Just give her some time and then crawl back to her with your tail between your legs. Just apologize and grovel a little bit."

"I'm not sure if you're the best person to take advice from" Santana says.

"Trust me babe, I've had to apologize to lots of girls."

"Are you that bad in bed?"

"If you doubt my abilities in the bedroom department then I'm willing to physically prove you wrong."

"No thanks, I've had enough disappointment" Santana jokes.

"As much as that hurt, I'm glad to see you back to your normal self."

"Yeah my normal self" Santana says thinking back to Rachel's words earlier.

The real Santana. She not even sure who the real her is anymore.

"We need to get you out of here."

"How are going to do that exactly?" Puck asks.

"It's probably best to sneak you out at night; I've done it on my own and a few times with Rachel so I should be able to do it with my old partner in crime."

"So what am I supposed to do until then?" Puck questions.

"You'll have to stay in the dorm; we'll watch movies or something and leave the other girls alone!"

It's nearing midnight when Santana finally decides that it's safe to sneak Puck out of the school. They follow the route Santana had perfected since she'd been at the school and successfully make it to the gate without being detected. Santana pulls out her lock pick and easily opens the gate; she had become well practiced with this particular lock.

"Thanks for coming to see me; it was nice to have a part of my old life back for a while."

"I've missed you, it was great to have my best friend back even if it was only for a couple of hours and I'm sorry if I messed things up with Rachel" Puck says.

"It wasn't your fault, don't worry about it."

"She'll forgive you, you know."

"I hope so. You really should get going; I can't be caught out of my dorm after hours again. Take care of yourself" Santana says pulling her best friend into a quick hug.

"I always do. I'll see you in a couple of weeks" Puck replies as they release each other.

Santana watches as her best friend disappears down the small path that leads to the town, he as well as her parents are the only things she misses about Lima. She locks the gate and heads back to the dormitory.

When she enters the room she shares with Rachel, she notices that the other girl is already asleep. She knows that she should apologize to Rachel. She was out of order before, they both were, but Santana's buttons are easily pushed and she knows that she can come back with some cruel responses.

Santana didn't mean any of the things she said and she genuinely felt guilty about saying them to the one genuine friend she has at this school. She liked Rachel, she really liked Rachel and even though she knew that there was no chance for them romantically she might have just ruined their chance at a friendship too.
