Hey! I'm really sorry for not updating for soooo long. I was too busy with all my majors and stuff. Plus, I lost my external drive where I stored the finished story of Opposites Attract, Heavenly Fire and another story. :( It is devastating. All files are gone.
Anyway, my laptop's not working too so I can't promise I'll be able to update again soon. But I will. :) So here's the next chapter of OA. Thanks for all the supports!
Chapter 34
Rogue gripped the steering wheel tightly as he read once more a crumpled piece of paper Sting handed him before he left for the wedding. This is where Yukino was. He knew it. He do. He stepped on the accelerator, switching to sixth gear just to make it in time before the ceremony starts. Well, actually, he doesn't know if Sting would like him to help stop the wedding or just keep Yukino safe, away from his father. With the note saying there are reserved seats for them at a first class flight, well, he really must have hurry whether for them to catch that flight or to stop that wedding, it's all up to Yukino.
He reached the place and entered. It looked really familiar to him. One of his foster father's property. And great, just great. Because it's Jiemma they are up against, he just have to be careful. He entered slowly, trying not to be noticed by the staff and carefully crept up to the stairs to avoid meeting unexpected people who knew him. He reached the floor of his destination. It was dark. Unlike other floors, it was deserted. Very much suspicious and very obvious, that Jiemma made it easy for him to know he was on the right floor and on the right hall. Turning to the right he saw three men guarding a door.
"Bingo!" Rogue whispered with a click on his tongue.
"Did you hear that?" One of the guards asked.
Rogue immediately retreated and tried to hide behind at the edge of the hallway. His heart ponded against his chest. It's not that he doesn't know how to fight, but unlike Sting who was able to reach the highest level of the martial arts they studied when they were younger, he didn't. And in fact, he hasn't been training for years. He just hoped, his body remembers.
This is not going to be easy. Rogue knew it. There were 3 near the door.
"Who's there?" A loud intimidating voice shouted behind him and right then, Rogue hesitantly looked behind him. There is a guard, his one hand ready to get his gun. "Identify yourself."
This was it.
"What's happening there?" Asked one of the men guarding the room. He could hear their footsteps nearing his location.
He turned to the guy behind him.
"Master Ro —" The guard wasn't able to finish his name for Rogue immediately gave him a roundhouse kick making the guy fall, hitting his head on the wall during the process.
"Aaaaaaargggh!" Roar the men behind him. Rogue turned towards them and pulled on guard elbowing the back of his neck. The men charged one after the other, he kicked the second on his gut. But he was pushed back as the last guard standing holds a pistol. He was kicked on his side and hit the edge of the wall where he hid himself.
"I don't want to hurt you Master Rogue. Just leave and I won—"
The last guard fell on the floor in one swift motion. Rogue passed by the bodies and to the room the guards were guarding. He kicked the floor ones, twice and thrice and successfully he was able to knock it down.
"Yukino!" He shouted her name. "Yukino!"
"Rogue?"
A small voice made him stop and look back. There Yukino was standing. Her face is pale and her eyes red from crying. He walked towards him and pulled her into a hug. Yukino fell into tears as she hugged him tightly.
"How did you find me?" She asked removing the tears that fell on her face.
"Sting gave me your location." He said smiling down at her.
Her eyes widened and she immediately pulled him out of the room. "We have to stop the wedding!"
"I figured we'll do that." He said and led the way out of the building. They didn't bother that the staff saw them. The thing is no one tried to stop them and that's what matters.
Yukino jumped inside the car. "Faster Rogue. We need to get to the hotel, fast!"
"Yeah. Yeah." He started the engine and hurriedly drove out of the lot. He could see that Yukino is really tensed and nervous. She can't help but fidget on her seat. Her hands clasped around each other and it never stopped moving against each other. He chuckled.
"What?!" She asked quite annoyed.
"Why are you so nervous? The wedding has juts started." He said with a smile and increased the speed.
"I need to stop. Lisanna is being controlled by Jiemma." She said trying hard to stop her tears from falling.
"What do you mean?"
"Her feelings were used by Jiemma. And Lucy, Sting.. Natsu.. If all this happens they—"
"The four of you will live a life of misery. Yes. I know."
She stared at him with wide eyes.
"You love Sting. Don't say anything, just tell sit there and rest. You looked really pale." He said and smiled.
Yukino returned the smile and wasn't able to hold back her tears and burst. "Thank you Rogue! You don't know how much I'm thankful to have you right now." She rested her back and leaned comfortably on the chair. "Thank you." She slept smiling.
"Now, it's all up to me." Rogue mumbled and stepped on the gas to gain more speed.
The wedding has started. Paparazzi are just outside the wedding venue. Videos cannot be taken and they are not allowed to broadcast anything live about the on-going wedding. Everyone was amused as the bride entered but was quite shocked as on why does the groom's father forcefully shoved the bride's hand into the groom's.
"Where are they?" Makarov asked himself. Clearly, he's really nervous and he kept on looking at the closed doors as if waiting for something to happen or someone.
"What is is Makarov?" Bob asked in a whisper. The ceremony had started and he can't help but notice Makarov's uneasiness.
"Fairy Law. Lucy's friends. They said they'll stop the wedding at any cost."
Bob gasped but retained his composure after and pretend nothing happen when the people around him started to look their way. "What are you talking about?" He asked when the gazes were back to the altar.
"I talked to them—"
"That couldn't be because there's a Band Battle going in right now.."
"What?!" Makarov whisper-shouted.
"They're singing a while ago.. Didn't you notice?"
Makarov's eyer widened and remembered his conversation with the band. And it hit him. Erza asked permission for Lucy to be with them at the band's practice for two weeks.
Practice.
"They've got it wrong."
"What?" Bob asked questioningly. "Who got what wrong?"
"Fairy Law. They thought it's Band Battle before the wedding.. Lucy.." He said and looked up to see the blonde's back. "She didn't tell them anything."
"Huh?" Bob said. Now, really confused of what Makarov was saying.
"We must bring Fairy Law here! We must bring Natsu here. Fast!"
"What?" Bob asked again. "No can do. From the hotel, it would take them a 4hour drive to get here. It's impossible."
"Hey Natsu!"
As he heard his name he turned to its source and saw Jellal waving at him.
"Ready?"
He gave him a small nod and started to head towards the other members direction. It was their turn. Natsu was felt quite down right now. First, he wasn't able to talk to Lucy about the incident. Second, she's not one of the judges. How come she's not here? Actually, none of the Board Members are present during the said event. That's peculiar, because this is an official Band Battle and probably the second to the last and none of the, are present! Lastly, in relation to the Board Members he was quite annoyed by the chosen theme: 'Wedding'. He didn't get why would Jiemma ask for a theme like that? Is he frustrated to get married again? Or does he intend to choose someone who may sing on his wedding. He chuckled inwardly at that thought.
"What are you laughing at?" Gray asked.
Natsu gave him a smug look. "It's none of your business."
"Why you—"
"Stop this right now!" Jellal shouted at both of them. "Gray understand him. Just give him this. Don't fight, for now. You know what's his situation is." Gray huffed and crossed his arms across his chest. Jellal turned to Natsu. "And you, don't bring your uncontrollable emotions here. Definitely, not on stage. Leave everything here. Remember, this is all for her." He said and patted his shoulder.
"You're in." The staff cued the band to go up the stage as Lisanna finished their song.
Natsu stepped right up the stage. He saw Lisanna and locked eyes with her. She smiled at him and gave him a flying kiss making the crowd squeal with joy. Natsu looked away from her and clenched his fist as he take the first step going to his position at the stage. But he was held back by a hand on his shoulder and he looked back to see Levy.
"We know the truth." Levy smiled at him. "Ignore them for now. Remember whom we'll be doing this for. Okay?"
He looked at her with wide eyes and behind her stood the other band members. Juvia agreeing to every word Levy said. Gray smirked at him, the kind of smirk he uses in exchange for 'huh, you idiot bastard'. Gajeel was watching the whole time but looked away. Having them near him made him smile, that smile that says relief and thank you. He knew they're still mad at him for making Lucy cry, but they set it aside, putting little trust on him on this one.
"Thanks." He mumbled and walked away.
Natsu inhaled deeply. He's got to get his act good, nope not just good, more like perfect. He held the microphone and immediately lowered his voice. That voice that is soothing like an introduction to his song.
"So, I don't know why the hell we're asked to sing a song of this theme. I don't like wedding sings unless it's my wedding song. But that's what the higher ups wants. Then, let's get this over with." He smiled and the instrumental started.
On This Day by David Pomeranz
Natsu closed his eyes feeling up the song.
Here we stand today
Like we always dreamed
Starting out our life together
The light is in your eyes
The love is in our hearts
I can't believe you're really mine forever
Been rehearsing for this moment all my life
So don't act surprised
If the feeling starts to carry me away
On this day
I promise forever
On this day
I surrender my heart
Here I stand, take my hand
And I will honor every word that I say
On this day
Not so long ago
This earth was just a field
Of cold and lonely space, without you
Now everything's alive
Now everything's revealed
And the story of my life
Is all about YOU
For if you feel the cool winds
Blowing through your nights
I will shelter you
And forever here to chase your fears away
On this day
I promise forever
On this day
I sur —

Natsu and the other bands stood in shock as the sound system shut off.
"What the hell?!" Natsu cursed.
"What.. Is this some kind of a joke?" Gray asked feeling irritated that someone stopped him from playing the guitar.
Erza stepped on the stage with Jellal beside him. "Stop." She said as she tried to calm herself and hold onto Jellal for balance.
"What's all this about Erza?" Juvia asked as she walked towards her and patted her back.
"Y-Y-You.."
Soon enough another figure came from the entrance of the backstage, also panting like Erza.
"Yu-Yukino?" Natsu asked with wide eyes. Immediately he was being pulled by the said girl. "Hey. What's this all about?" He said while being dragged out of the stage.
"We don't have much time. I'll expl—"
"Natsu, where are you going?" A familiar voice stopped them on their way out of the event area of the hotel. It was Lisanna.
Yukino stopped on her track and her eyes widened. She didn't realize that there is a big chance that she'll be meeting Lisanna on the way.
Lisanna crossed her arms across her chest and smirked. "So you escaped?"
Natsu confusedly looked at Lisanna and to Yukino. "Escaped?" He turned back to Lisanna. "What do you mean?"
Lisanna stiffened. "Well she's being held at the hospital for being delusional."
"What?!" Yukino asked, shocked. "I was held captive by Jiemma. And Natsu.." Suddenly she remembered something. "The wedding!" She said and began to pull Natsu once again.
"You can't go with her Natsu!" Lisanna said blocking their way. "She's.. She's not on her right mind."
Natsu shook off Yukino's hold and stood right in front of Lisanna. Soon enough cameras crowded them. "Back off Lisanna." He said and pulled Yukino out of the crowd with Fairy Law following suit.
As they hurriedly run-walk out of the hotel Natsu kept wondering what is happening. "This better be important because I have a Band Battle to —"
"Lucy and Sting are getting married right now." Yukino said and Natsu come to stop.
"What?!"
"Right now, they're getting married."
"What the hell?! Are you serious?"
Yukino looked down and nodded.
Natsu grasp her shoulders tightly to the extent that he's hurting her. "How? This musn't be true. If that is, then she must have told us. Or Erza maybe!"
"Stop!" Yukino was pulled away from Natsu's hold. "It's not. Yukino's fault!" It was Rogue. He held Yukino safely near him as he glared at Natsu.
"I-I'm sorry." Natsu said as he somehow calmed down.
"I know how you're feeling Natsu. But it's true and we need to hurry!" Yukino said pulling Natsu once again together with Rogue.
"Did it start?" Natsu asked when they reached Rogue's car. "Where is it?"
"Since you're the last singer then maybe the ceremony has started already. My father used this concert, all of the bands are singers for the entourage." Rogue explained.
Natsu walked over the driver's seat shoving Rogue away. "I'll drive then." As soon as the three of them were inside the car with Yukino at the backseat, Natsu drove out of the lot faster than Rogue imagined his car could be run. "Where was it?" Natsu asked in the midst of driving.
"And here you are aski —"
"Just tell me where the damn wedding is!" Natsu shouted.
"It's on a hillside near Hosenka." She was on the verge of tears. "It's a 4hour drive from here Natsu.. Can we really...?"
"I would make it happen." He said determinedly. "I'll turn that to 40minutes."
Everyone knew it's impossible, but there's just something with what Natsu said that gives hope to Yukino.
Soon enough they've reached the country side, just a few mountains and they're there. But by that time the the wedding might have ended, still Natsu hasn't gave up.
