Chapter 39
"Where's Sting and Rogue?" Lisanna asked as she entered The Sabers HQ. Minerva was seated on her usual seat and glared at Lisanna as she entered the room.
Minerva was having her 'salon day'. A girl was doing her hair and two others were working on her nails. "That's what happens when your mind is just infested with Natsu." She smirked.
Lisanna rolled her eyes and asked Rufus. "Where's Sting and Rogue?"
"Rogue's doing some business in France while Sting was with Yukino." He answered not looking up at her as he reads a book.
"Sting and Yukino?" Lisanna almost squealed.
Rufus looked up from his book and looked at Lisanna. "Where were you from? Haven't you heard the news that Natsu and Yukino crashed the supposedly wedding of the century?"
"Well I know that. I just didn't know Yukino and Sting got together right after." She said while walking away from the group.
"It's obvious that two people get together when they like each other." Minerva added making Lisanna stop on her tracks. "You know, like having mutual feelings."
Rufus and Orga snorted making Lisanna pout. "I'm leaving."
"For good?" Minerva asked.
"No!" She said quite irritated. "I'm just.. I'll just walk, get some fresh air." Lisanna said before slamming the door so hard.
She walked a couple of halls and out to the parking lot. Her car was the same, except it didn't have the Fairy Law plate. Instead, she had the regular plate because The Sabers do not want uniformity unlike Fairy Law. Lisanna decided to keep the car even after she had left the band. She just holds so many memories with it, and the car is the only memento she had from them.
Lisanna exited the parking lot and drove to the highway. She didn't have any destination in mind but just the thought of being away from everything keeps her calm.
After partnering with Jiemma she had admitted her defeat in Natsu's love. She's already accepted that Natsu won't ever reciprocate the feelings she had for him. Lisanna even feels bad for everything she has done to them. She felt sorry for everything. Without noticing a tear escaped her eye and the wind brushed it from further falling on her face. She was glad for her resolve. Lisanna knew that somewhere, somebody will be her Natsu. There's somebody out there for her, she knew it. She felt it. She smiled at the thought. At last she was free from herself. She had finally let him go. If she had known this would feel better than pursuing Natsu further she would've done it.
Lisanna has decided to apologize for her mistakes. Well she has started by saying sorry to all the members of the band, of Fairy Law. After that she needs to apologize to Lucy and Natsu. She had gone to extreme measures in pursuing Natsu, and she really felt sorry for that. She didn't even know why she did it.. Well she did now, all because of her love for him. She was blinded that Natsu will surely love her when she pursues him. She believed he was just playing with another girl, but boy was she wrong. Natsu has deeply fallen in love with her. And Lisanna has just to live with that. It was difficult for her at first, but Lisanna saw how Natsu left the Band Battle, the sole way to which they could be the number one band in the world, when he found out that Lucy will marry Sting. She saw how Natsu gave up everything just to go to her.
Lucy is one lucky girl for having him.
Lisanna smiled to herself. She has reached the bridge and stopped on one side to just feel the sea breeze. She remembered when they last went to Hosenka. That was the last outing she went to. And she ruined it herself. Lisanna knew she deserved everything. She had The Sabers now. And even though Minerva, Rufus and Orga are quite cold to her, she still has Sting and Rogue around. They're her new family now and she just had to deal with it.
As time passed by Lisanna was humming, watching the sun sets and the cold sea breeze calmed her inside out. And then she closed her eyes.
"This is Lisanna, you could trust her." Jiemma said as he talks to a man in front of them.
Lisanna doesn't know who that man is but he is familiar. "Lisanna Strauss." She said as she tried to shake the man's hand but he didn't shake it.
"What do you need Jiemma?"
"I want to have the company." Jiemma said smirking.
The man snorted. "But I'll destroy it."
Lisanna looked at him with shock and fear. He doesn't look as scary as Jiemma, but he had a more evil plan than Jiemma had.
"DDestroy?" Jiemma uttered. "But you'll lose everything."
"I'll destroy Heartfilia and take over. I'll take the company down and have its remaining resources afterwards."
"What?!" Jiemma said in disbelief.
"I did it before, why don't I repeat it?" The man said and chuckled."I'll have to take that girl down first."
Jiemma glared at the man. "You won't destroy the company."
"Let's just see which comes down first, the girl or the company."
Jiemma clenched his fists and slammed it on the table in front of them. "The company is mine!"
"Well then let me have the girl first. Let me see if I'm satisfied with just her down."
"That would be quite difficult. I will marry her off to my son."
"Clever, clever." The man smiled. "But have you heard?" Jiemma's ears perked up. "There is a Dragneel survivor. He or she might take the company back from you." The man whispered.
Lisanna was shocked. How does this man know? She looked at Jiemma for any answers but he was as shocked as she was. A Dragneel survivor will change everything. All of their plans will be ruined. A he or a she, no matter, they still own half of the company. Jiemma and Lisanna remained silent.
"Who was the guy who was always with Ms. Heartfilia?" The man asked, breaking the silence.
Lisanna looked at the man. "What do you want with him?"
"I was just suspecting something.." They both looked at the man. "After all, he had pink hair." He chuckled. "I'll just have to destroy him first then the girl and the company."
"Not if I had it first." Jiemma said as they walked out of the room with Jiemma's fists still clenched tightly.
Lisanna followed him suit.
"Natsu." Lisanna almost shouted. She shot up from being laid on her car seat and immediately start the engine. She drove back to the hotel fast.
She needs to talk to Natsu. Fast. Jiemma wasn't the only one who was against the Heartfilia. But unlike Jiemma, this guy wasn't just mad at the Heartfilia, he hates them. She heard them talking and knew that they were planning on destroying the Heartfilia. She didn't give importance to the other man because she thought Jiemma would be successful with his plan, but now that Jiemma was gone. The company will be destroyed. Not just owned by another, destroyed.
Lisanna got to the parking lot and immediately got off her car. Suddenly, she smelled something aromatic and everything went black.
"We'll just try to look for Natsu." Levy said as she twirled back and looked at both boys.
Gajeel had his hands in his pocket as Gray was still yawning. "Why didn't Juvia tag along?" Gajeel asked.
"She's cooking."
"Jellal?"
"He said he needs to plan for something." Levy said now walking in between them.
Gray continued yawning. "What was he planning for?"
"I don't know. Let's ask him when we get back." Levy answered.
"And why were we looking for that idiot again?"
Levy sighed. "Because! Lisanna told me she needs to talk to him soonER." She emphasized the 'ER' to make them realize it's important.
"If it's Lisanna it's definitely nothing important." Gray said placing his arms behind his head as they continue to walk. "And dinner's going to be in an hour why don't we just sit there and –"
"And watch Juvia cook dinner." Gajeel finished smirking.
"And watch Juvia.. HEY!" Gray said not finishing what he had to say. "That's not what I was trying to say!" He shouted at Gajeel.
"If you say so." He shrugged.
Levy was snickering in between them. "Hey Gray?"
"Hm?"
"You know what Juvia feels for you right?"
Gray looks away from her still walking with his hands behind his head.
"Why don't you clear things up with her?"Levy said making Gray stop in a halt. Levy and Gajeel continued a few steps. "What?" Levy asked as they noticed Gray stopping.
"N Nothing.."
Levy smiled at him. "You just have to be honest with your feelings." She said winking at him.
"Not a –Oh! Hey! Lucy!" Gray shouted at a distance. Levy and Gajeel looked towards where Gray was shouting at and saw Lucy with Natsu. They were walking hand in hand and were smiling at each other. "Idiot!" Gray shouted once again. This time, getting Natsu's attention.
Immediately, the pink haired guy threw himself at Gray and started to punch him. "Who are you calling idiot? Stupid face?" He said in between punches.
Gajeel was laughing all the time. "Idiot and stupid combined!" He said while laughing. Gray and Natsu stopped punching each other and glared at Gajeel.
"What are you saying, dumb face?" Natsu said and in a second the three of them were in a brawl.
Lucy walked closer to the group and moved towards Levy. "Hey Lev!" She greeted.
"Lucy!" Levy threw her arms around her and hugged her. "I missed you. Felt like we haven't seen each other for so long. Natsu's been hoarding you for weeks now." She said as she pulled a little away from Lucy.
Lucy was caught quite off guard. Her cheeks reddened at the same time she felt bad for not giving time for her friends. "I'm sorry Levy, just quite busy with the reopening of the Band Battle."
"It's dinner, why don't you join us?"
Lucy smiled at her. "Sure! Natsu and I were just about to get one." Levy immediately snaked her arms around Lucy's and they walked away from the brawling guys. "So why were you here?"
And just in time Levy stopped turning around she was shouting for the boys to stop. "Natsu! Natsu! I have something important to tell you." But no one seemed to hear her.
Lucy walked back towards them and placed her arms on her hips. "Natsu." Still, the three of them didn't stop. "Natsu!" Lucy called for him, this time louder. She was actually getting irritated now.
Levy held onto her arm. "Lucy.." Lucy didn't budge.
"Natsu!" This time she shouted. "If the three of you won't stop I will marry Sting right here and then, stop the Band Battle, tell Levy Gajeel was in love with her and tell Juvia, Gray was head over heels for her."
And with that the three of them stopped. "Lucy tell me you won't?" Natsu said, pushing the two away from him. "I know you won't." He said holding her hand and looking into her eyes.
"Levy has something to say to you." She averted her eyes from Natsu to Levy. Lucy was quite confused as to why Levy was blushing, Gajeel was silent and Gray was holding his laugh. "Oh." Was the only thing that left her mouth and she covered her mouth with her hands. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
Well Natsu, the ever so insensitive to these kinds of situations, spoke. "So Levy, what are you going to tell me?"
Levy composed herself. "Uhh. Yes. We came looking for you Natsu."
He looked at her confusedly. "Why?" Natsu scratched the back of his head.
"Lisanna. Yes. Lisanna." Levy said. Natsu looked from Levy to Lucy and back. "She sa –"
"She said she was pregnant." Gray finished. Everyone looked at him in disbelief. Lucy's hand flew to her mouth and her eyes widened. She looked at Natsu but he was as shocked as she was. Gray laughed at their reactions and stifles a laugh. "And then she told me she was joking."
Natsu growled and was about to tackle Gray once again but Levy stopped him. "She told me you two needs to talk. Well, she said she needs to talk to you about something so important."
"What's so important now? You shouldn't trust her." Gray said walking towards Lucy. "It's Lisanna we're talking about."
"But, she seemed serious about it!" Levy defended. She looked back at Natsu. "You have to believe me. She was serious."
To Natsu, he really didn't know what to do or what to say. Lisanna might have something really important to say, but.. He looked at Lucy. She smiled at him. "Go on." She mouthed to him. "Look for her. She might need something really important."
"But Lucy!" Gray said in a quite louder voice. "This is Lisanna!"
"She said sorry to us when she came to HQ." Levy added.
"See she apologized to you already?" Lucy smiled at Gray and placed her hands on his shoulders. "Calm down. Breathe in breathe out! I bet you're just mad she tricked you." She said laughing quietly.
Gray felt embarrassed and huffed. "Fine. Do whatever you want. Don't say I didn't warn you."
"Okay." Lucy said smiling at him.
Natsu walked towards Lucy and grabbed her hand. "Well then, let's go find Lisanna."
"Wha.."
"You're coming with me. There's no way I'm leaving you." Natsu said pulling her.
"But I'll be in your HQ." Lucy said but didn't fight back when Natsu placed his arm on her shoulder and pulled her closer to him.
"Gray you could come with us too." He shouted behind them. "Let's divide into two so we could look for her faster, dinner's in 45 minutes!"
"Why the hell will I come with you for a thirdwhe−" He didn't finish what he has to say and turned around facing Levy and Gajeel.
And in an instant Gray sighed and just followed the couple, anyway he's going to be the thirdwheel, but before leaving Levy and Gajeel he was smirking at Levy and he left them with a wink. "Hey wait for me you two!" Gray shouted running fast towards the Natsu and Lucy.
"So where are we going first?" Lucy asked as soon as Gray was on her side. Natsu stopped abruptly pulling Lucy back with his arm on her shoulders. Lucy pulled away from him and turned to face him. "You don't have a plan."
Gray laughed. "Spontaneity." He muttered.
"Well I guess let's go to their HQ first." Lucy suggested and they went other way. The two boys followed suit as Lucy walk towards The Sabers. "What do you think Lisanna needs?" She asked Gray.
"Honestly, I don't know. I have trust issues with her. But, on the better side maybe she's just apologizing." Gray said placing his hands in his pockets.
"If she'll just apologize why the hurry.." Lucy said placing her hands on her chin as she thinks. "Maybe, there might be something more."
"Stop thinking so hard. Lisanna might just be playing again." Gray said.
Lucy looked at him. There's something that was bothering her, she didn't know what. Is it that someone or something is always there, watching them? Like what Natsu said. But that might just be because she was quite nervous as to what Lisanna will tell them, tell Natsu actually. She looked at him, he seemed to be occupied with something but his face is calm like he was on another world. She shook her head. Natsu confessed to her that he loved her, she believes him. Natsu never lied to her. And if Natsu was like that, maybe he too was nervous of what Lisanna would tell him. Whatever will happen, she'll stay close to him.
Never leaving his side.
Lucy reached for Natsu's arm. The moment she touched it, he looked towards her. Lucy smiled at him. That smile that could make him relax whatever is the situation. Natsu sighed and replied a grin to her. A grin that reassures her, he was okay. And then they continued to walk, stopping in front of The Sabers HQ. Natsu knocked.
After the 5th knock the door opened, showing Orga with a toothbrush inside his mouth. "Wha, lu yu wa?"
Natsu looked at him confusedly. And then Lucy stepped forward in between Natsu and Orga. "Hi! Uhh, I would like to know if Lisanna's here?"
"Chiz nuh he." Orga managed to reply.
They all looked at him confusedly. And then suddenly the door opened wider showing Rufus, in his robe. "Who's there?" A voice came from the inside.
"Visitors from Fairy Law and Heartfilia." Rufus shouted back.
"Let them in." Minerva said.
As the walk in, the scent of organic aroma and shampoo was evident. Minerva was sitting on the couch with her hair wrapped in a towel and her fingers and toes in between cottons. Natsu and Gray stared at her like she was an alien.
"What?! You haven't seen anyone after salon?" Minerva asked accusingly.
Lucy just chuckled. "Well, we're just here to ask if –"
"So how does it feel like to have the company all to yourself? Bringing my father down like that. You must be so happy." Minerva interjected.
Lucy was frozen. She felt like she stopped breathing. "I.. I.."
"Lucy did not bring your father down. He did that to himself." Natsu said as he stepped forward, glaring at Minerva. Lucy looked at him, but he didn't look back he just glared at Minerva. "We didn't come here to discuss your father."
"I see so you're together now?" Minerva smirked, looking at Lucy's hand on Natsu's arm. "And Sting and Yukino, how nice."
Natsu clenched his fist but relaxed when he felt Lucy squeezed on his arm. He looked at her and she smiled at him. He stepped back as Lucy stepped forward. "Look, we aren't here for chitchat. I demand to know where Lisanna is."
"Lisanna?" Minerva asked. She looked like she was thinking and she smiled. "Well, Lisanna's out. Why? Will you break her poor little heart again?"
"It's not what you think, Minerva." Lucy said eyes focused on her.
"But you will again once Fairy Law wins the Band Battle." She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, well maybe the vocalist dating the CEO might be an advantage."
"I won't be part of the judge."
"Still.." Minerva crossed her leg. "You have the power. If Fairy Law wins.. what would they think?" She smirked. "Not only would the fans doubt but the reputation of the hotel might also be in the line."
"Enough." Lucy looked at her. "I know what you're talking about, and the media are enough to tell that to my face every day." She clenched her fists. "Anyway, you'll just have to do your best to prove that there'll be something wrong if Fairy Law wins." She said and walked her way out of the HQ.
Outside she went to the nearest wall and steadied herself. Her breathing was ragged, she didn't know she will be able to say that to someone's face and now she felt rude. She inhaled deeper to calm herself as she places her head against the wall.
Soon, Natsu and Gray were outside. Natsu held heron her shoulders and pulled her to him. He runs his hand on her hair and soothes her. "Are you okay?"
Gray was standing on their side. He wanted to punch Minerva a while ago but he knew it would put Fairy Law's name in the line. Plus Lucy's with them, it would just make the situation worse. Instead, he placed his hand on her shoulder. "You okay now?"
Lucy nodded against Natsu. "I'm sorry." She pulled herself and breathed. "I'm fine now." She said and smiled at both of them. "I've calmed down."
"What happened there?" Natsu asked. "The reporters are still bugging you?"
"Uhhh, well…"
Natsu looked at her in the eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"It's nothing Natsu. Just leave this thing to me. You have a lot to think about. Let me do this okay?" She said calmly. "I can do this."
"She's right, Natsu." Gray agreed. "Besides, Lucy's not some damsel in distress. Have you seen how she fought for herself and for the two of you and for us back there?" Gray smiled and ruffled Lucy's hair. "She's good. She doesn't need too much protecting."
Natsu huffed and crossed his arms across his chest. "Fine."
Lucy smiled at him. She grabbed his hand and pulled him with one of hers and Gray with the other. "Let's go, we're looking for Lisanna right?"
