Sooo.. I have a 3 part ending for all of you. It's supposed to be a one chapter ending but naaah, readers deserve explanation. And here. I am sorry for the late update. I was supposed to update the whole ending last week but curse my laptop for not working. Because my laptop's not working I have to do this ending all over again. I think I also changed it because I can't remember what I already did on the first ending I made.
I do really hope you all will love this. It's an OA special: Lucy's POV. Hihi Please do tell me how it goes. I'll be posting the three other chapters within this day. And it's a promise, I swear my life on it. Maybe an hour or so after I've posted this or the one next to this. Because, I'm still editing the very last one. Anyway, enjoy!
Chapter 54
Even after everything I heard, even after everything that's happened, I still can't find it in me to believe that Natsu did that to me. I just trusted him too much. And I still do love him.. too much.
I called for a trial about the co-ownership of the company. I'm trying to regain.. at least my position as the CEO. It's been a week since the trial started and not once had Natsu attended one trial. I don't know if he doesn't care what happens to the company or he just doesn't care about me anymore.
And it hurts. It hurts so much that this is happening. That this happened. That this has to end like this.
I was crying every night even though I told myself a million times, not to. This was different than the time my father died. It was my father who died then. Right now, it feels like something or half of me died. And my heart, it was not just breaking once. Everytime I'm all by myself, it keeps on breaking and breaking and breaking. Like it was a never ending cycle. I haven't gotten a good sleep since then. I always wake up dreaming that day I heard everything.
It is a nightmare I can't runaway from.
Erza's the only one I could go to. I felt like I was back to square one.. even zero. That time when it was only Erza and me.
"I still can't believe he's not at your foot begging for forgiveness." Erza said angrily. We just exited the court and is on our way to Erza's car. "I'll pommel him to the ground when I see him."
Normally, I would feel relief when Erza says that. I know it was her way to cheer me up and I also know she means everything she said. Because Erza's just a woman of words and actions. She walked around the car towards the driver's seat and reached to open my side.
"LUCY!"
I froze. Two weeks since I heard his voice. I thought I'm immune to it somehow and can manage not breakdown the moment I see him or hear him. But no. My lips are trembling. I bit my lower lip in attempt to hold my tears from flowing out of my eyes.
"I'm…" He panted trying to regain his breath. Erza got down from her seat when she saw whose called me and walked over to my side. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend any.."
"How dare you talk to Lucy after everything?!" Erza shouted furiously. I held onto her arm to stop her. I don't want more attention. I was the cheating woman already; I don't want the company's name to be involved in this. "Lucy?"
I tightened my hold on Erza. I hope to get the willpower to at least turn my back and face him. Why does it have to be now.. I've been ready a couple of times. Why show up when I'm not?
Even so, I took a deep breath and turned.
"Lucy, I'm sorry. I just –"
It really is different just hearing his voice. Seeing him brought the unease back in my stomach. The butterflies that flutter in it just seeing those intense eyes of his. "It's okay Na – Mr. Dragneel."
Please voice. Don't shake. We've practiced. We got this.
"Luce.." He reached for me but Erza slapped his hand away. "Damn you.. tell.." He mumbled incoherent words under his breath.
Natsu.. he's not changed a bit. Sure there were bags under his eyes. His hair was disheveled and I wonder where he came from. Where was he the whole time?
I miss you. So much.
I wasn't able to talk much with him before all of this happened. I didn't know a single thing about what he's doing what how was the company. It's like I was exiled from my own kingdom and when I get back he had a new queen. I bit my lip a little harder. Stop thinking Lucy. Behind him was the limo he used to get here. With the door slightly ajar, I could see another passenger inside the limo. Her pale brown locks fell perfectly as she turned her head in my direction and our eyes met. Of course, he'll be with Jenny.
"..hear me, Luce." I turned my gaze back at the person in front of me. And tears started to well in my eyes. "I told you to just do what I say. Can you just –"
"And what?!" Erza shouted at him. "Make an idiot out of her?!"
Natsu pulled his hair in frustration. "Stay out of it Erza! Just this –"
And he was on the ground. Erza was standing above him her eyes glaring at Natsu and it took everything in me not to go there and see if he's okay. To stop Erza from hurting him. But I need to stay strong. It's for me too. To my relief Erza didn't hit him again. He slowly stood up, his eyes fixed on Erza.
"Hit me again with your last one, Scarlet."
I was quite surprised.
Erza looked up at him, I guess as surprised as I am. Who would dare take another hit from her? Erza clenched her fists and crossed her arms across her chest. "Lucky for you, Lucy gets to have the last hit. And if I could just freely hit you again, I'll be sure you won't be able to walk for 2 weeks."
There was silence and I was just staring. Should I punch him? Kick him? I don't know. How could I make him feel the same pain I was feeling?
He started to walk near me and Erza again. His eyes bore into mine. "Luce.." I don't want to hear him say my name. I don't want to hear him say that name again. "Luce –"
"You can.." My voice shook and I cleared my throat. I hope he didn't catch that I'm having trouble talking to him. I don't want him to see how weak I'd become when he's not there. "Just.. talk to me when we're inside the courthouse or it's about giving my position back. Other than that, I don't want to talk to you.. or even hear your voice."
"Luce.." Why does your voice sound so hurt? Why are your eyes like that?
He reached for my hand. This time it was me who slapped his hand away. "Please, Natsu. I'm begging you." My tears started falling. Please stop. I don't want this anymore. "Just stay away from me. This is my last request." I turned and opened Erza's car door and immediately got in.
Erza ran to her side of the car and started the car. I know he's still there. Watching as we leave.
Why can't you just stay away from me Natsu? That's what you've planned since the beginning right? You got your revenge. So please, just stay away.
I didn't talk to Erza when we get into her car.
We got what we wanted. Natsu showed up at the courthouse. Although he's late, he showed up. That might have been something. Maybe he does care for the company… Maybe he wants to fix the co-ownership just as much as I do.
Maybe.
"We're heading straight to Jolt&Co." I was brought to reality by Erza's voice.
"Really? I'm at a coffee shop by the corner! Want to get lunch together?"
I stared at the audio speaker at the middle of Erza's car. Levy. I could recognize her voice anywhere.
"All right. We'll be there in a few."
"See you!"
And they hung up.
Having lunch with Erza and Levy had been more often than before or than it had ever been since I met them. It was almost everyday. Okay, everyday. We would go shopping after or stay at a coffee shop. I know they have other things to do so why do this? They've been worrying about me. Again. Not that I don't like that they're there for me. But I don't want to burden them anymore. Erza had Zael and Myst and her wedding to worry about. Levy entered a prestigious university and is managing her coffee shop at the same time.
Those two had better things to do than hang out with me.
Erza and I entered Jolt&Co and sat by the window side so Levy would see us fast. Erza ordered for the three of us. It doesn't matter. What Erza eats, I eat. Or I was forced to eat. Typical Erza, always concern what I eat. I think she's making sure I eat something called food once a day. I think if she doesn't have Zael and Myst or that she was actually living with Jellal now, she'll force me to live with her.
I told Erza everything I felt. Betrayal. Love. Missing. Lost. Everything. And what could have been. Levy knew everything too. And somehow, talking to them for the whole week is the one thing that makes me sane. So somehow, this daily lunch had its perks too.
"Is there anything else you like Lucy?"
Oh Levy's here. "Uh, no."
Levy took her water and gulped it down. "You're awfully quiet today Lu. Did something happen?"
"Natsu came today." Erza said taking a sip of her own water.
"He did?" Erza nodded. "So that's why."
"Where's Juvia?" I asked trying to change the subject. Because I know if we go further into that I'll just breakdown.
"Last time I talked to her was I think last week?" Levy started. "She has some business with Master Makarov, I think?"
"Gramps? He's here?" I don't know why but knowing that Gramps is near gives me some relief. I should go visit him sometime. "Where's –"
"I don't know. Juvia's been travelling a lot lately. Maybe she's accompanying Master Makarov."
"Is that so.." I said in a low voice.
For the past month that I don't have a job, I took on Jellal's offer about a week now. I don't understand why there are four guards on each corner of the bar I was working at but Jellal stationed them there. I was not really good at tossing and giving shows like the bartender in Acalypha but mixing just any alcohol was fun. In fact, I made some awfully tasting ones and the customers didn't even react. They just get drunk the whole night.
Well, there was an incident where one person was sent to the hospital because of the drink I made. So from then on, Jellal gave me a list of mixes I hid under the table for reference.
This is a good work. I get to spend all night working and not be alone. When I get home I immediately go to sleep and not think of anything anymore. This way, at night I feel okay. At night, I get away from everything. At night, I don't need to think of him.
"Lulu, compliments from that man.." I looked up and a glass of wine was placed in front of me. The waiter gestured at the booth across my station and a man, I cannot see, winked at me.
From my experiences with Cana, I learned what to do. And I smiled at him and drank the glass in one go. Jellal wouldn't mind me drinking right? Besides, someone paid it for me. All through the night I watched people dance and sing to the music of the band I've never heard of. People come and go from my bar station and soon it was time to go.
Erza forced Jellal to wake up every midnight to pick me up from work and drive me back to my unit but I secretly made a pact with him that he really shouldn't. At first he was reluctant but then he made me promise that I'll send him a message when I took off the club and when I get home. It was an easy task so, I did promise him. I sent him a message, saying I'm leaving the club. I bid goodbye to the body guards who 'protected' me the whole night and went out the back door.
"Good evening, young lady." Just right outside the alleyway I exited was a car. A man with moss green hair was leaning against it. He eyed me from head to toe. I shivered in disgust.
I know what I need to do, but my body just won't move. Run Lucy!
He was walking towards me and he threw his used cigarette and stepped on it. What the hell kind of bad luck is with me?!
"Don't be scared missy." I know this guy. He's the one who sat by my bar station and never left. He asked for anything. I tried to ignore the way he's watching me the whole night because I know he's just drunk but now that I remember, he just ordered foods and juice tonight. "Just let's get somewhere we can have fun."
This was one of the things why I studied self-defense. But curse my body for not moving the way I wanted it to. "Stop! Don't come any closer."
He just chuckled. "I'm not gonna hurt you."
With every step he took, I tried moving my feet. I tried to at least make my arms move to defend myself. He took a hold of my arms and bent it that I my back faced him. Focus Lucy. I elbowed him and sure enough his grip on me loosened. I was able to get away.
He chuckled. "You don't have to make it harder."
"I don't have anything to do with people who couldn't even beat me." I did a roundhouse kick and I hit him square on the face and he stumbled.
"You have a nice kick there." He reached something from his back pocket and then he was holding a knife. "Why don't you just come with me so I don't have to use this?"
The thing is.. I haven't had training with people with true weapons. I've trained disarming but this was the first time I'm actually 'disarming' someone. How different could it be with my instructors.. who are actually giving me chances and openings where to hit?
He started thrusting the knife in my direction and I could barely dodge. I can't attack. I was too scared he'll use his knife to block and I'll be slashed. So I backed away into the alley I came from. Soon enough he had pushed me against the garbage bin.
"Aren't you the good girl?"
Immortal's back door was just there. I could just scream and they'll help me. Right. I should've done that first.
But before I could scream he had the knife against my neck. "Trying to scream?"
He lowered my arms and pinned me to the bin. Please. Someone. I don't want this. My throat was dry and I closed my eyes. I shouted the first name that came to my mind.
"NATSU!"
Just then, there was a thud on the ground and when I opened my eyes the green haired man was on the ground.
"Lucy, are you okay?"
Did he really came to.. "Dan..?"
"Yes, it's me. Are you all right? Did he hurt you anywhere?" His brown eyes were full of worry. Something was caught in my throat and I just nodded. "Thank god." He pulled me to him and hugged me tight.
"Miss Lucy!" The guards who Jellal assigned to me came out of the club in rush. "Are you all right?"
"Y-Yes." I tried. "I-It's that man." I pointed to the unconscious body on the ground and two of them went to pick him up.
"Let us escort you back to –"
"I'll do that." Dan said. His voice firmer than usual.
The guards didn't move not trusting Dan even a little. "It's okay. I know him." I said pulling myself away from him as I reassure them. "He's a friend of mine. Please don't tell Erza what happened, I don't want her and Jellal fight because of me."
They nodded and hesitantly turned away.
"Lulu! I really missed you so much. I was really happy to see you again!" Dan cheered when we entered the coffee shop near my unit.
I smiled at him. I was really thankful that Dan was where he was when I needed him. "Yeah. So how are you?" I asked changing the subject.
He shyly scratched the back of his neck. We sat by the counter and ordered two coffees. "Well, I just came here this evening. I tried to call Natsu but he won't answer his phone! Damn that bastard. Anyway, I called Cana and found out you're working there. Why are you even working in the club?!"
"Long story.." I sighed and smelled the aroma of coffee. "They fired me as the CEO."
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!"
I shushed him and made a quick apology to the other people in the shop. "Will you keep your voice down?!"
"But Lucy! That's insane! How the hell were you fired?! You owned the place! You own the company!"
"Yeah, tell me about it." I took a sip from my coffee. No sleep for me tonight, I guess.
Dan leaned back on his chair. "That is stupid." He sighed. "Anyway, you're really skilled when it comes to dealing with people at the bar now. Still Lucy, you don't smile at someone you don't even know. It might give them the wrong idea."
I looked at him not knowing what he's talking about.
"The 'Lulu, compliments from that man' drink…" He smirked, proud of himself.
"Ohhh." I should have known. No one called me Lulu except Dan.
He reached for his coffee. "You should've just bowed or nodded if you want to thank me. You have a fiancé Lucy, try to be loyal." He smirked.
I almost dropped my coffee hearing that. Right. Dan didn't know anything. I held my mug with two hands. "I'll try to remember that." I said and looked down on my coffee.
Don't cry Heartfilia. It's not even the real thing that's in front of you. This is Dan. And you're just talking.. about that.
"Anyway, what brought you here?" I asked with enthusiasm.
"I was invited. Your man made me come here. He said it's something important." He shrugged. I thought for a moment.. Must be his wedding with Jenny. I bit my lips as they begin to tremble. "Must be business."
"Yeah. Must be."
"You know. He isn't a great boyfriend. Letting you work at a club late at night. It's really dangerous you know."
"Well…" I set my own mug down. "We're not.. together anymore."
"Dan please. I don't want the company to be involved. Stop!" I stood in front of him and tried to block him from walking further into the hallways of the Dragneel-Heartfilia Co.
The guards did not even stop us when we entered the building. Guess they know I still own part of the company. But that's not the problem right now. As soon as the sun rise, Dan drove my car to the company and barged into the building with that anger lingering in his eyes. I haven't seen him like that ever since I met him.
"Let me go Lucy. I'm going to give him a piece of my mind."
Dan held my hands that were on his chest, squeezed them lightly and released them to my sides. This was a whole new Dan I was seeing. He walked past me and I froze there for a moment until I realized he was getting much closer to the main office. I ran fast and got a hold of his arm before he was able to barge into Natsu's office.
"Dan?! You're early!" Cana shouted standing up from her seat. She briskly walked around her table and to us. "What are you –LUCY?!" Guess she just noticed me. "W-What the hell are you doing here? Go away!"
"SHUT UP CANA! I promised Lucy I'm going to kick that jackass' ass." Dan seethed as he shouted at the translucent glass door that was separating us from where Natsu is. I was seriously hoping Natsu's not here.
Cana stood in front of us. "You can't be here!"
"That's what I was telling him." I told her as I kept on pulling Dan's arm.
"Bastard Dragneel! Get out of here!" Dan shouted and I really do wish Natsu isn't there.
"Lucy, you need to go. Right now." Cana pleaded. "A-And bring Dan with you."
"Then hel –"
"Cana what's the big –" Natsu's eyes widened when he opened the glass doors. His eyes immediately landed on me. "Luce.."
"Don't you even dare call her that!" Dan shouted. "How dare you get back with her, fire her from the company she's been working so hard for and then dump her?! How could you be such a stupid jerk? Didn't you know how much she's went through? For this company and because of you? "
Evil me was thinking about those for a while now. I think Dan being here saying these things I can't voice out myself had its perks after all. But, the Lucy who loves him still was overpowering the demon in me. I won't just tell him those. Because no matter how many times I tried I still can't find it in me to just be angry at him.
"I have something else to do. Natsu get back here!" We all froze at the sound of the voice. "Finish what you've start..ted." Jenny paused by the door upon seeing what was in front of her.
What a nice meeting this is?
"Now I know why." Dan took a hold of my hand that I didn't noticed had gripped on him too hard. "I promised Lucy I would kick your ass."
"Luce, this –"
I tried to look away but all I did was turn my head to Dan's side. "I told you not to talk to me when we're not in the courthouse or not business." I know I'm being a coward for not hearing what he has to say. But I guess, I'm not ready just yet. So he just has to deal with it for now.
"Lulu, you okay?" Dan whispered and I just nodded my head. He might have understood that little gesture because he turned back to face Natsu. "I'm going to kick your ass next time. Consider yourself lucky for the time being bastard."
I really didn't know what was happening now. Seeing Natsu and Jenny like this, knowing they're alone in that room. I see. That's why Cana didn't want me here in the first place. No one should bother them. I gripped onto Dan's shirt as I felt my legs getting weaker by the second.
Dan must've felt that I don't feel good because he circled his arm around me and made my head rest on his shoulder. I couldn't keep my eyes open, I felt like the hurling everything inside me. My head is spinning and I can't stop it. Having no sleep and anything solid to take in since last night must be affecting me now.
"I'm bringing her back to Acalypha." I could feel Dan tightened his hold on me. "I knew she's better off without you. I shouldn't have ever let her go back here and meet you again." He spat like venom in his mouth. "Listen here you stupid Dragneel, if I ever see you near her again, I'm going to make sure your little girlfriend wouldn't even recognize you."
There was silence. I could feel Dan bend down and scoop me in his arms turned around and started walking away. I really didn't know if being with Dan right now is a good thing. I don't want to go back to Acalypha just yet. I need to officially get my position back before anything. I tried to tell Dan that, but my consciousness is slowly slipping away.
Suddenly, Dan was pulled back.
I'm dreaming of what could have been…
"Get your hands off her."
I can't really remember what happened or what day is it now. All I know is I'm obviously in my room. My guess is that whatever date is it today, it's already night time. My stomach growls alerting me of the meals I skipped for who knows how long. I tried to sit up and reached for the glass of water on my bedside table.
"Lucy?" A knock followed and the door creaked open. Levy came to view and her eyes lighted. "She's awake!" She announced to the people outside and sure enough there were chairs moving as Levy fully entered my room.
"What are you doing here?"
She sat on the chair beside my bed. "Well, someone's got to take care of you." She beamed. "Erza, Jellal, Gray and.. the twins are here too."
I smiled at her. Why do they need to take care of me..? Oh. "Where's Dan?"
"He's in another hotel." Gray answered entering the room followed by Erza and Jellal. "He just left an hour ago, he said he'll be back in 3 hours."
"How long was I unconscious?"
Gray hummed. "Almost 2 days.. I guess?"
"I made Jellal fire you." Erza added and rolled her eyes at Jellal. "That job sure is stressing you out more than what the company does to you."
I giggled. "Erza, I'm desensitized with the stressful works at the company."
"Well Lucy. I am firing you." Jellal said casually. "Although, the custo –"
Erza elbowed him on the rib. "How are you feeling?"
I bit my lip finally remembering what had happened. It's true Lucy. It's not a dream. He and Jenny, huh? That intimate. And it doesn't concern me anymore. It shouldn't. "I feel fine. Thanks for taking care of me."
"Actually.." Levy started but she was cut off when Gray blocked her from my view.
Gray stepped closer and got a hold of my empty glass. "I'm going to refill this! Be right back!"
"Welcome. That's what we do." Erza continued when Gray was out.
I smiled at them. "But, I don't feel good here." I said, holding my chest. "I feel like it's not just breaking. It's burning into ashes. And the funny part is, the fire eats my heart slowly, that I could really feel the pain."
"Lucy.." Levy said and reached to hold my hand. She squeezed it and gave me a small smile. "I'll give you a list of guys you can date." She teased.
"No can do." Gray said in a firm voice entering the room once again. "I do not allow Lucy to date anyone… yet."
I looked at him incredulously and turned to Levy. "Well, it's not like I'll be dating anyone anytime soon."
"Geez Gray. What a party pooper." Levy pouted. "I could make a list of people better than that pink-haired idiot. Why does he even have to hurt Lucy?"
I squeezed Levy's hand. "I'll get over it."
"Well Lucy, it looks like you're really exhausted from everything." Jellal started. "We brought you to the hospital when you collapsed, they run a few tests and well the results will be out tomorrow."
"Aren't you excited?!" Erza asked out of nowhere.
I looked at her and tilted my head to understand what she's talking about but nothing came. "Why would I be excited of my lab results?"
I waited but no one answered until Levy squeezed my hand.
"Erza's guessing you're pregnant." Levy said rolling her eyes.
I blushed a deep red. "Why- How- Why would I be?"
"Well, I didn't see Natsu or you for a couple of days after you went back, why wouldn't you be?" Gray said nonchalantly. "It's like you guys are in heat."
"Shut up Gray." I muttered and he just chuckled.
Erza cleared her throat and glared at Gray. "I am not referring to that. I'm actually referring to the word 'tomorrow'."
I looked at her confused. "What tomorrow?"
"Well there's going to be a trial tomorrow. And I'll make sure you'd get the company back."
I smiled weakly. "Thank you Erza. But, you do know he needs to attend at least one trial so that we could discuss with the court right?"
"He'll go."
