Ch.2 The secret
At the unknown location Saburo chats with the man she called brother, who is sitting and typing on a computer, about the attack at the carnival.
"My my you seem to be on edge lately brother"
"What do you expect Ka…"
Saburo puts her fingers to the man's lips.
"Please don't use my real name… Lang E Reizal hehe"
"At least it's more original than Saburo Komyoji what's next you gonna call yourself Keiko Urameshi; anyway yeah I'm on edge, you weren't supposed to make contact with anyone yet, why did you go to the carnival?"
"I had to meet them at least once you know"
"Fine…were they both there?"
"He was but I'm not saying if SHE was"
"You tease too much sis"
"Tehe only with you and him"
"So what do you want to do now?"
"I want to meet Mana, I have some things I want to say"
"Sister what are you planning?"
"….."
"Just don't go too far Sister please"
Saburo leaves the area while attaching a bracelet to her wrist, and the man continues typing on his computer. Meanwhile a few hours later Kotori and Reine examine the footage from the fight with the bandersnatches. So far nothing seems to be resolved about the myster girl Saburo's identity.
"So what do you think commander?"
"Dunno but I don't think of this girl as an enemy for the moment, she did protect Shido without any hesitation, and she could have kidnapped him if she wanted."
"Also she bears no resemblance to any registered spirits other than a striking resemblance to nightmare" Reine adds
"Yeah but Shido insists that she isn't"
Kotori and Reine continue to make deductions about what exactly Saburo is. Elsewhere Mana walks through the city to go to her brother's place to join them for dinner tonight since she wanted to spend time with him. On the way Mana spots Saburo standing in the middle of walking street looking at Mana with a smirk on her face, Mana decides to talk with the girl. She gets up close to speak silently.
"Who are you?"
"Me I'm just someone who you'd hate for just existing"
"Why do you say that?"
"Because you're DEM garbage"
"Not anymore I quit, and how do you know about DEM?"
"Because they're barking animals that's why"
"Even so I'm no longer with them, so I am not your enemy"
"I don't care if you quit stay away from Shido"
"What's your relationship with my brother?"
Saburo falls silent for a moment and then whispers.
"I"ll tell you but not here"
Saburo tells Mana she'll tell everything in a private area so they go to a destroyed building in an area that recently destroyed by a quake. The building was an old warehouse that was almost completely intact.
"Okay so tell me how do you know my brother?"
"Very well I know him because…"
Saburo walks up to Mana and whispers something in her ear, something that completely shocks her, but she responds calmly.
"That can't be, I don't believe you"
"I assure you it's the truth, think about what I said and you'll know it's very possible… also I meant what I said, so stay away from him"
Saburo pulls out her gun and fires two rounds at Mana which she blocks with her barrier as she transforms for combat to engage Saburo. Mana manages to speed up fast enough to punch Saburo in the face rather than shoot or swing her energy blade at her. The punch destroys Saburo's sunglasses and knocks her through the walls of the warehouse. Mana speeds up more to see the damage, Saburo sat on a pile of rubble without so much as a bruise.
"Well that wasn't nice, those were expensive sunglasses"
"So if what you told me IS true then why are you attacking me?"
"I told you because you're DEM garbage"
Saburo stands up and reveals to Mana her eye patch which was on her right eye.
"And even then I have use my full strength to fight with you… go figure"
Saburo puts her hand to her eye patch and removes it to reveal her right eye which had Mana on edge with what she saw underneath. At the unknown location the young man who is called Lang can sense his sister about to unleash her power.
"That damn fool I told her not to go too far"
He stands up and prepares to locate and stop Saburo from doing something extreme. A half an hour later at the destroyed district the fight between Mana and Saburo is almost at the climax with both fighters panting. Saburo then holds her shotgun to the sky and glitters of light enter the barrels creating an orb of light that stuck out.
"So tell me how many people have you killed Saburo?"
"None as amazing as that sounds"
"One more question, are you in fact a spirit?"
"….Not that it matters to tell you, but no I'm human, I just happen to have the powers of a spirit"
"(Then it has to be true)" Mana thinks to herself
Saburo points the barrel at mana, who puts up a barrier to block the blast. Before Saburo can fire the blast she is knocked away by a figure in a pearl white cloak wielding a dual bladed lance. His face was completely obscured by his hood, and his hands and feet were covered with armor.
"Saburo I told you don't go too far!"
Saburo lands on her feet and lands on a pile of rubble.
"Who cares were better off anyway, she may still be loyal to Wescott"
"Be that as it may that's not what we're here for!"
As the two argue Mana seizes the moment and attacks Saburo sword, but the cloaked man appears in front of her face, and places his palm in front of her face, and blinds her with a very bright light (His movements were too fast to dodge). Mana passes out from the light, and the siblings argue further.
"You will not use my power to kill innocent people, didn't you say that you don't want to be like your mother, that want to our father proud!?"
Saburo raises her voice to her brother's lecture.
"Shut up Yukio I don't need your lecture, and don't ever bring up my mother again!"
The man she called Yukio lowers his head and drops his tone
"Kasumi I'm sorry"
Saburo looks down as well and lowers her tone as well.
"No you're right, look at us we're even using our real names for this argument"
The man walks up and shares an embrace with his sister.
"We'll fufill our mission and get back home"
"You're right…Lang"
"Yeah Saburo"
Hours later Shido begins looking for Mana since she never showed up. Tohka and Yoshino help look for her as well. Kotori is taking a bath and opts out of looking since she figures Mana will show up sooner or later. After a few minutes of searching Shido sees Mana walking to the apartment on her usual route. Shido walks up to her to ask her where she's been and what she said was.
"It's funny I just woke up in near a destroyed warehouse and I don't remember how I got there or why I was there"
"Well at least you're okay you had me worried there for a second"
Shido brings Mana back to his place to eat leftovers (that he had to keep from Tohka) and visit with her. That night as Shido slept he had the nightmare again, not knowing that Saburo was watching him from atop a close building.
"Daddy I almost crossed the line again… I'm sorry"
As she talked to herself she senses another presence from behind.
"So I heard rumors that a naughty girl was walking around wearing my face"
Saburo turns around and sees Kurumi, already wearing her astral dress, standing behind her, giving an uneasy smile, and Saburo can't help but think to herself.
"(So this is what you looked like then…Mother)
