When Remus woke up the next morning he really was not ready for what they day offered after his late night with Sirius. Sirius was quite the cuddler and Remus had never really spent much time being cuddled. He was more of a one night stand kind of wolf but here was Sirius plastered to his sleep warm flesh. Remus was not as disgusted as he would have been by the drool coming out of Sirius's mouth, but as it was, he was in a good mood. The night had been spent doing something Remus enjoyed and Sirius was quite the submissive bitch. Remus opened the curtains to grab his wrist watch that informed him that it was 6 am, and therefore, time to get up. He slipped from Sirius's clinging grasp and into the bathroom to begin his morning. As he was brushing his teeth Sirius shuffled in looking entirely too shaggable for his own good. Sirius did not help the matter by slipping his arms around Remus's waist and pressing his hard chest to Remus's warm back.
"Morning." Remus mumbled around his toothbrush.
"Morning love." Sirius mumbled before burying his face in Remus's shoulder blade. Remus shrugged the dog off so he could finish brushing his teeth and rinse his mouth out. He wondered if Sirius would make a habit of cleaving to him in mornings and thought it might become tiresome to have someone leaning so heavily on him. Sirius lived up to this thought by blinking blearily up at Remus, who was a bit taller, not that it distressed Sirius all that much, before enveloping the wolf in a warm hug.
"What are you doing Black?" Remus managed to choke out.
"You're still not going to call me by my first name?" Sirius pouted, letting go of Sirius to cross his arms. It was quite the enjoyable sight, Sirius so mussed up and his arms crossed over his bare muscled chest. Remus unintentionally licked his lips, a move that caught Sirius's eye. Sirius quirked a brow and smirked evilly at the wolf before dragging one finger down Remus's chest with such lust in his eyes it made Remus shiver. With a manic cackle Sirius darted into the other room, chased eagerly by Remus before the two collided and fell into their still warm bed. A while later they emerged once more to prepare for class.
"You should brush your teeth morning breath." Remus teased. Sirius flushed and hurried to the bathroom and away from James's cackling.
When the four finally set out for class, Sirius with an arm slung around Remus's waist and James with his fist on the front of Sirius's robes, lest he drag Remus back to bed, they were ill equipped for the approaching slimy haired weasel. Snape eyed them disgustedly before his sight dipped to Sirius's hold on Remus. "Oh boy, look at the fags." Sirius snarled maliciously. Remus's arm slipped around Sirius to hold him back. While Remus was used to such derogatory terms, Sirius was not. James's tight hold on his friend's robes also helped but the now furious Sirius didn't stop struggling. Snape smiled wickedly.
"Go die in a hole Snivelous." James snarled.
"But this is so much more fun. Keep your fag on a leash; I don't want to get slut on me." Snape's eyes twinkled evilly as he watched delighted by Sirius's struggles. Unfortunately, he didn't know how protective of his friends, and mates, Remus got and with a flash, was sent flying across the room. Everyone else in the halls, watched astonished and wide eyed as the usually gentle, quiet, and demur Remus put away his wand.
"We'd better get going if we don't want to be late for class." Remus smiled. Even James and Peter looked shocked. Sirius on the other hand, looked quite proud and more than a little turned on.
"That's my Remmy, baby." Sirius mooned loudly as he draped himself across Remus's front. Remus said nothing as he resumed walking to class, followed by James and Peter who still looked quite stunned and practically dragging Sirius. Class went by fine despite Sirius's constant chatter and touching, and the rest of their classes went relatively the same. Lunch was uneventful, Lilly set James's food on fire because he said he wondered how her hair felt and Remus was, oddly, not yet tired of Sirius's constant attention. By the end of the day his patience with Sirius had not ceased and James was worrying about Remus's breaking point when it occurred to him, just yesterday Remus had been in a horrible mood. Yet today, he seemed...pleasant. Now Remus was usually patient with them, kind to others and helpful in class but James had never considered Remus pleasant. It never seemed like the kind of word one might use when referring to Remus Lupin. Kind, smart, patient, witty, sarcastic, and organized, yes, but pleasant? Never. While thinking of this, James had one of his very rare moments of clarity, his mind was not filled with the lovely Lilly Evans but instead, was thinking critically. Was this new change in Remus due to Sirius? How could it be? Sirius had only gotten two hundred times more annoying than he usually was which was quote a lot, so James was wondering if this new change could be because Remus was secretly plotting to kill Sirius. Such thoughts had crossed James's mind when Sirius directed his annoyances at him but it had never, ever, reached this level of obnoxious. James, therefore, could only conclude that Remus was plotting Sirius's demise and every time he smiled at the dog, it meant he had just unlocked another key to the plan. This was quite unfortunate for Sirius because Remus was smiling quite a lot. Not wanting Remus to actually kill the boy, James decided to have a little talk about boundaries with Sirius who was currently lying across Remus's lap on the couch in the common room talking endlessly to Remus who was using Sirius's back as a table to do his homework on.
"Sirius." James smacked the dog upside the head.
"What James?" Sirius snapped. "Can't you see I'm busy being used by my Remus darling?"
"I need to talk to you." James rolled his eyes at his friend.
"You can say anything in front of my pumpkin Remmy." Sirius cooed. James shot Remus an apologetic look on Sirius's behalf.
"Go on Sirius." Remus said as he gathered his parchment and book from Sirius's back. "Potter looks quite set on talking to you alone." Remus knew calling Sirius by his first name would get him to do anything and, as expected Sirius jumped up with a beam on his face and a skip in his step as he dragged James away. When they were in their room James gave Sirius a hard look. Sirius was too far off in his own world where Remus called him by his first name all the time to notice this look.
"You're smothering the poor bloke." James started with a frown. Sirius looked like someone had just dropped a brick on his head.
"Am i?" He sounded like a wounded animal. "But he called me by my first name." He whimpered. "That's got to count for something."
"He only did that to get you to leave him alone for a bit." James said.
"Dya really think so?" Sirius sniffled pitifully.
"All the pet names and the touching." James wrinkled his nose. "When have you ever seen Remus touch a bloke he's been with in public?" James asked
"N-never." Sirius looked on the verge of tears.
"And when have you ever heard anyone call him anything other than Lupin or Remus?" James asked.
"Only Snape calls him...names." Sirius looked like someone had slapped him after kicking his puppy.
"So now do you understand what I'm saying?" James asked.
"Y-yeah." Sirius nodded.
"Ok so just give Remus a little space every now and then." James said before leaving the room. Sirius felt a sob rack his body. He'd just been so excited. He didn't mean...Sirius hurried to the bathroom and locked the door behind himself so he could cry in peace. He sat down in the bathtub, his school robes keeping the cool porcelain from chilling him. Maybe if he banged his head against the tiles he'd become less annoying. He decided to try it, his banging blocked out the noise of someone rapping on the bathroom door.
"Sirius." Remus's voice sounded gentle and Sirius wanted to run to it but then that would be clingy. Remus was not a waster of time and unlocked the door with an easy spell before his eyes fell on Sirius. Sirius had a little blood trickling down his face and a blank expression as he sat curled in a ball in the bathtub. "Sirius." Remus said gently once more before picking up the boy and carrying him to bed.
"Msorry Remus." Sirius mumbled through his tears.
"Why?" Remus looked puzzled as he pulled the covers up around Sirius before sliding in next to him.
"James said I was being clingy and annoying." Sirius said.
"Well James is a stupid prat. Why would you listen to a word he says?" Remus asked as he kissed Sirius gently on the forehead before casting a quick charm to stop the bleeding.
"Cause." Sirius honestly didn't know why he'd listened to James. James the virgin who hadn't been in a single relationship since first year.
"I don't know why he thinks he can stick his nose in our business." Remus said as he hugged Sirius, who was still sniffling, closer.
"He made a good point though." Sirius said, not wanting to sound completely stupid for trusting James's relationship advice.
"Oh did he?" Remus didn't know if he wanted to hear the advice or not. He doubted it would be any of James's business either way.
"Yeah, he said I'm the only one who ever calls you pet names or touches you." Sirius said.
"And that means something but not what James said it does." Remus said, finally realizing the extent of James's stupidity.
"Yeah?" Sirius asked.
"Think about it, have I ever been in a real relationship?" Remus asked. Sirius shrugged. "No. Just one night stands. So would they ever feel possessive or touchy?" Remus asked. Sirius shook his head tentatively no. "That's right. But you do because this is real." Remus smiled as wiped away Sirius's last few tears.
"So it's okay then?" Sirius asked.
"I won't admit to this ever again." Remus's face grew quite sober and Sirius's eyes grew wide with fear. "But I quite enjoy it." Remus smiled softly and he kissed Sirius gently.
"Merlin, Remus. I love you." Sirius murmured as he slipped his arms around Remus and kissed him passionately.
"Now, are we going to get revenge on James or not?" Remus smiled mischievously.
"Oh definitely." Sirius grinned.
