Derek asked the sheriff groggily due to the effects that the wolfsbane had on him due to being caught in a steel bear trap coated in wolfsbane for the last three to four hours.

Then as Derek's ankle was finally freed from the trap Derek felt the bones realigning and then rapidly told the sheriff that the best bet would be to take him to Deaton rather than the hospital since it was the closest.
John Stilinski seemed both of two things, rather loathe to and even more rather unsure if taking Derek to Deaton would be the correct action. Then Derek thought of something which would cause the sheriff to take him to Deaton, and so he immediately said to the sheriff,
