Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter
Christmas vacation was quite nice. Well, at least James was looking forward to it. He'd convinced Lilly to come home with him, promising to get her to her own home before Christmas. Sirius on the other hand, had not yet convinced Remus to go home with him. And by home, he meant James's home. "Oh Remmy please?" Sirius pouted as he climbed onto Remus's lap and looked up at the werewolf with his saddest and most pitiful expression.
"No." Remus replied blandly.
"There's plenty of room. Lilly can stay in the guest bed and you can stay in Sirius's room." James offered.
"Then where will Sirius stay?" Remus asked.
"With you?" Sirius's lip quivered and his eyes welled with tears.
"No. I'll be going home for Christmas." Remus said. Sirius sobbed quite dramatically and catching the attention of all those in the common room.
"Oh grow a pair mate." James slapped Sirius's shoulder.
"Remus hates me." Sirius wailed.
"I don't hate you." Remus rolled his eyes.
"Then why don't you want to spend time with me?" Sirius buried his face in Remus's chest.
"Maybe he needs a break." James said.
"A break? From me?" Sirius sobbed louder. "From us?" He shouted.
"The full moon is during Christmas break." Remus said looking out the window and away from his friends.
"Oh." James slumped down on the sofa next to the canines.
"I was so excited about Christmas I forgot." Sirius sniffled.
"I figured." Remus shrugged casually.
"I'm sorry Love Muffin. You know I can't even remember what day of the week it is." Sirius sniffled up at Remus.
"Its Wednesday love." Remus smiled softly as he looked down at Sirius who had completely soaked Remus's shirt with tears.
"Want me to get you a new shirt biscuit?" Sirius asked wrinkling his nose at Remus's shirt.
"That'd be wonderful." Remus said dryly. "But I'll go get it myself. Rather than exposing myself in the common room."
"Good plan." James nodded. "You know how jealous Sirius gets." James laughed looking around the room at the cowering students. They knew Sirius liked to prank and sometimes even hex people who so much as looked at Remus.
"I don't know why." Remus rolled his eyes.
"They shouldn't be allowed to look at you." Sirius huffed as he let Remus up.
"Should I hang a sign around my neck?" Remus asked dryly as he walked off to their dorm.
"Would you?" Sirius called after Remus as he sat back down next to James. Remus sat down in his dorm and began stripping off his shirt. He would be fine spending Christmas with Sirius, James and Lilly at the Potter's residence, going home for the full moon. If he was feeling alright after that he might have even returned. Except he'd really had to tighten his belt to get the others Christmas presents they'd actually appreciate, not the cheap stuff he could actually afford. And he knew they'd have gotten him lavish gifts, well at least Sirius would have. It was their first Christmas together and Sirius would really lay on thick with the gifts.
"Maybe I should break up with him. It'd be cheaper." Remus put his head in his hands as he dropped his shirt on the floor.
"Remus sweetheart." Sirius knocked at the door. The shaggy boy slipped in the room and sat next to Remus looking oddly sober.
"What?" Remus looked up at Sirius, his bare chest drawing some rather lusty looks from his boyfriend.
"I didn't get you anything for Christmas." Sirius said softly, sobering his expression and looking Remus with a hard expression.
"What?" Remus was kind of offended, and a bit horrified. He had gone so long, saving money since they first began dating, knowing Christmas would come and he'd need to get Sirius something expensive. He'd also gotten James something relatively nice, his boyfriend's brother.
"I knew you'd be all freaked out about money and buying me something expensive so I didn't get you anything. Money doesn't mean anything to me sweetheart." Sirius smiled gently, not his usual obnoxious grin or his mischievous smirk, but a kind, loving smile.
"You stupid mutt." Remus laughed. "You could have told me that before I spent all my money on your present."
"Oh yeah. Good point." Sirius laughed.
"Did you at least make me a macaroni necklace?" Remus teased.
"Did you want me to?" Sirius asked looking excited. "I make the noodles different colors and everything."
"No. Make me something better." Remus laughed. Sirius looked thoughtful for a moment before snapping and hurrying from the room. Remus sighed and resumed dressing.
