Thanks for all the reviews! It always makes me insanely happy watching the little bar load on my iPod when I have emails, however the little loading circle makes my blood boil. I just hate eating it go round and round.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own glee

-/-

Quinn smiled as she heard a knock on the door. Rachel was fifteen minutes early, and waiting with some food of her own.

"Rachel, I told you not to bring anything!" The blonde chastised, playfully.

Rachel shrugged, stepping in from the cold and removing her wet boots, "I know what you said, but I simply cannot not bring something with me. I'm a guest in your home at a very important time of the year, it would be extremely rude of me not to bring something as an expression of my gratitude."

Quinn rolled her eyes as she took the plate of Christmas cookies off her hands. "I apologise that the extent of my culinary skills really can only be deemed 'amazing' in relation to baked goods, everything else falls under 'passable' or 'cinders'."

"They are perfect Rachel, thank you. I'll just set them in the kitchen, you can go on into the den."

Rachel nodded as Quinn went to relocate the cookies and hung her coat on the rack, before entering the den and placing a box under the tree, prior to her settling on the couch.

She idly drummed her fingers on her knees and wondered if she could actually become a drummer- as a hobby, not a profession that is. She didn't see why Finn could be able to do something that required rhythm and she couldn't. She may not be the best dancer but she was better than him, so at least she could stand a chance... She would need to think about it. If she did indeed drop glee it would be something to occupy her time and showcase another string on her bow.

She could easily find someone to teach her, that could be a New Year's Resolution.

1. Learn drums.

She frowned at that. Maybe revise that.

1. Sort life out.

2. Ask Quinn out.

3. Learn drums.

She nodded to herself, that was better. (Although, she was making good progress on the first one. The second one, could overlap with the first, she hoped.)

"Dinner should be ready in about ten minutes!" Quinn announced, plopping down beside Rachel.

"That's great. You look lovely by the way- not that you don't usually, I just think that it's a particular point of note today since it's Christmas and all... I apologise if I'm embarrassing you, I don't give compliments often." Rachel trailed off awkwardly. Quinn had turned a deep red when she had started talking and she didn't know where she had went wrong. It had started off so well…

"It's alright Rachel, I'm just unused to hearing things like that."

The singer blinked, "You are by far the most beautiful girl- woman, in school Quinn. Surely that isn't true?"

Quinn felt her face burning up, "Speak for yourself. Anytime I do hear a compliment it's usually vulgar or dumb, like "oh your so hot!', nothing that's actually just honest and heartfelt. You mean what you say Rachel."

Rachel flushed at the returned sentiment. "You should be told it everyday Quinn. I'll do it if no one else will." The cheerio bumped her on the shoulder. "Anyway, I try to be as honest as possible, it seems less people can get hurt that way."

Quinn smiled, "It's definitely a good trait to have."

"Girls! Grubs up!"

Rachel stood and offered Quinn her hand, "Shall we?"

All three women were slumped on the dining chairs.

"I feel sick..."

"I feel pregnant."

"I feel quite nourished."

Both of the Fabray women looked at the little brunette that was still trying to maintain her posture. She did look better than the pair of them. How could someone so tiny, eat so much?

"I think, I may have made too much." Judy sighed, she wanted to collapse on to the floor but that would require her having to move, and that simply wasn't happening.

"I second that." Quinn mumbled, she had given up expending valuable energy keeping her head up and now rested it on the table.

Rachel looked between the two women with a smile. She just really felt full rather than busting at the seams. Ms Fabray was truly a wonderful cook, she would need to ask her for some tips, because getting takeout every night in NYC would not be the best idea.

"That was amazing Judy, you could start your own restaurant with food like that."

Judy smiled brightly, "Why thank you Rachel, that's very kind of you to say."

Rachel just shrugged, "It's just the truth."

The brunette was unaware of the blonde staring at her with an adoring expression, then sharing a look with her mom. Sometimes Rachel just didn't see how special she really was.

After recovering from that mammoth meal, they had played charades for a while… Judy won at guessing and it was a tie between Rachel and Quinn for acting out the things because Rachel kept feeling the urge to sing the clues- which lead to them creating a new version of charades.

Then, once they had sagged into the seats.

Quinn was slumped against Rachel but neither was really conscious of the fact, or that Rachel was gently rubbing her friend's arm.

"Hey, what's that?" The cheerleader sat up, causing Rachel's arm to fall away.

"Oh, I got you a present." The singer smiled, she watched as Quinn reverently picked up the gift and sat back down with it.

"B-but, I didn't get you one." Quinn frowned guiltily.

Rachel laughed, "Quinn, you tried to give me one for every day of Hanukah! It's the least I could do."

Quinn nodded, "Well, you didn't have to… but thank you."

"You don't know what it is yet."

The blonde simply smiled and carefully pulled the wrapping paper off. "Rachel…" Quinn ran her hand over the black leather cover, this must have cost a fortune… her name was engraved in a cursive gold script.

"Open it." Rachel said with a grin. She guessed she'd done well.

Neither of them noticed Judy watching them with soft eyes.

Quinn bit her lip and gently opened the notebook, "It's perfect…"

There was a Dr Seuss quote written inside. 'The more that you read, the more things that you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.'

Quinn launched herself at Rachel, taking care not to crease her book as she pulled the smaller girl into a tight hug.

"Merry Christmas Quinn." Rachel felt herself get squeezed tighter and chuckled.

Judy just rolled her eyes at the pair, because that hug was going on far longer than could be deemed platonic, so she decided just to leave them too it.

"Mom, Rachel and I are going out for a walk!"

"Okay, wrap up well! Remember curfew!"

Quinn grinned and the two girls rushed outside, eager to enjoy the snow.

They had made two snow-people (because them being called snowmen was sexist, why did people even assume them to be male when they had no distinguishing features constant with male anatomy- one could presume that the figures traditionally shaped in snow are simply underdeveloped snow-women! Generations had grown up with such thought processes that sexism was still an issue today, they had to make a stand and put an end to it, they had to think of the children! "The children Quinn!") Quinn had just nodded. (Rachel was debate team champion for a reason).

After that fiasco, they had a mini snowball fight and chased one another around.

Rachel was racing after the blonde Cheerio who had stopped running and was facing her. They were eyeing one another up, calculating which way to move.

As the cheerleader made a break for it to pass the singer, Rachel managed to grab Quinn's arm, only the blonde didn't stop moving.

Quinn slipped on the ice and Rachel quickly tightened her grip on her arm. Unfortunately, the blonde's momentum was too great and Rachel couldn't prevent them falling, so instead she used the momentum to spin Quinn so that she landed on top of her and not the ground.

Rachel groaned as she smacked into the pavement before getting winded by Quinn crashing onto her. "Are you okay?"

Quinn was still in a bit of a daze at Rachel moving so swiftly. She was also once again melting at Rachel looking out for her instead of herself. "I'm good, you?"

"Good, yes." Rachel trailed off as she noticed Quinn was still laying on her with apparently no intentions of moving.

Quinn's breath hitched when she realised how close their heads were, and she couldn't help it when her eyes flicked down to Rachel's lips. She let out a shaky breath and inched forward.

Rachel saw her moving but needed to be sure,"Quinn, what are you doing?"

Quinn froze. She recognised what Rachel was doing, she was offering her an out, a way to play this off but she didn't want to. Her father no longer dictated her life, her mom was fully supportive of her feelings and Rachel was one of the most amazing people that she had ever known.

"I'm going to kiss you. If you'll let me." The redness of Quinn's cheeks had nothing to do with the cold.

Rachel was surprised at Quinn's forwardness but wasn't about to protest any further, instead she nodded, gripped her hips and leaned up slightly.

Quinn gave her a shy smile and then they let their eyes drift shut as their lips pressed together.

It was awkward; with the unforgiving surface of the pavement digging into Rachel's back, the freezing night air nipping at their exposed faces as well as their lips being slightly cracked, but it was still perfect.

What the girls didn't know, as they gently pressed their lips together for an unknown period of time, was that they were being watched.

A car had stopped further down the street and the single occupant was watching them with disgust.

How eager the blonde was to taste already swollen lips, and how the brunette's hands wandered excitedly over the other girl's back.

They were oblivious. Lost in each other.

The car started and pulled away from the curb in a violent screech of burning rubber.

Rachel and Quinn startled slightly at the unexpected noise but didn't bother to look around. They were too happy staring into each others eyes.

"As spectacular as this moment is, I need to get up because some peculiarly shaped object is digging into my back, along with some snow melting through my clothes."

"Oh right! We can go back to mine and you can borrow some of my clothes." Quinn leapt to her feet only to belatedly realise that the ground was still very much coated with ice and slammed back down on top of Rachel.

"Oomph!" Rachel feel the air rush out of her as she got Quinn's head in her stomach. "Are you alright?" She wheezed, trying not to laugh.

"Just kill me now." Rachel chuckled at the mumbled words, carefully sitting up and bringing Quinn with her, then climbing to her feet. Once she was balanced, Rachel graciously helped Quinn up.

Both girls looked at each other, Rachel still holding Quinn's hands, as they smiled shyly. Rachel leant up and pressed a kiss to pink lips, then pulled away. "How about some hot chocolate too?"

Quinn grinned, and clung to Rachel's hand. "Best Christmas ever."

Rachel was pretty sure she could cross number two off of her list.

Oh hey, look at that! She was ahead of schedule…

Rachel and Quinn were huddled together in the blonde's bed watching Christmas with the Kranks, and they couldn't stop touching one another.

When they had gotten back inside Quinn had quickly gave Rachel some warm pyjamas to change into and left the room to change into her own.

They both knew they weren't really ready for anything other than kissing, so they were happy to lie snuggled together, holding hands or just spontaneously kissing one another.

It was nice. There was no pressure at all.

It wasn't long before the movie ended up forgotten altogether.

The bedroom door was locked so they didn't need to worry, Judy had gone to bed about half and hour ago, and they were free to enjoy one another's company.

Rachel sighed happily into Quinn's mouth as the blonde lay on top of her, gently kissing her mouth. They weren't even using much tongue, just relishing the contact more than anything.

"Your face tastes awesome." Quinn blinked at the whispered words, before snorting and dropping her head on to Rachel's shoulder. "I said that out loud didn't I?"

Quinn lifted her head and pecked the smaller girl on the cheek, "Your face tastes pretty nice too, don't worry."

Rachel's face still burned in embarrassment though. "Did you like your present?"

Quinn beamed at her, "I think you know I loved it, although…" She trailed off teasingly.

Rachel frowned, "What?"

"I think you deserve more of a thank you."

"Wha- mmm." Rachel was cut off by Quinn's mouth covering her own.

Best Christmas ever.
